The Squishiest of All Wizards.
The instant Tsubaki said she needed fresh air, Claire's first instinct was to say the same thing. However, there was simply a problem with putting two women of their nature outside and more or less alone when something like what had been going on at the present time was... well, going on. It usually devolved into something negative, or at least that was what she thought would happen. Regardless, her own instinct seemed to bypass such thoughts and instead, she said something that easily contradicted her intelligence.

What if the girl went back into her unstable state of mind? It wasn't as though she could do anything to aid her....

"I'll go with her if he does want her to stay, I need the refuge as well... this has been... very difficult to deal with for me as well..."

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Takeo's hand reached out for Tsubaki again and missed. When she said she needed to leave, he looked, if anything, distressed by the notion. But then Iemoto offered to go with her, Claire said she needed go as well... Takeo, lowered his hand. Dimly, he realized he was still bleeding where Tsubaki's nails had pierced him. He grimaced, and channeled Dia into the wound. He hadn't recovered enough magic in the time since he'd burned through it all in the ruins to heal anything massive, but a few minor punctures were no big deal, really.

"...I-I get you," he said. He probably would have said more than that if he'd caught sight of Tsubaki's guilt-ridden expression, but as it was, he just added, "It's fine if you want to go, too, Iemoto-san, do whatever you think is best. I'm sorry for all this, Tsubaki... Claire-sensei, I-- ...I'm sorry."

Takeo leaned back against the headboard of his bed, turning his face forward, tilting it back.

"Tsubaki, when you've... calmed down... will you stay with me a bit longer? I don't really want to be alone right now," he said quietly. And he didn't. Most certainly did not want to be alone right now. Alone and sightless, without anything--solid, to hold onto, to distract him from the knowledge that he'd need to learn a whole new language just ro read without an audiobook again, that he'd never draw or paint again, that he'd never be more than a useless cretin to anyone ever again. With Tsubaki here, at least he would be able to... think about keeping her spirits up, instead of just trying in vain to keep his own from dying.

"Yeah…yeah you do that. And come back when you've cooled off a bit, yeah?"

Everyone else was filing out. Probably to keep an eye on Tsubaki so she didn't totally lose her shit. That left him to step up to the plate for now. He smiled, despite the fact that he couldn't see it anymore…and that realization made Benkei's smile fade a bit. He made sure his voice was full of high spirits though.

"Damn, dude. I guess the risk you get with hooking up with an alley cat is to be scratched up, now and then, yeah?" He sat at his side, opposite of where Tsubaki once was. He carefully waited until Tsubaki and the others were out of earshot for the 'alley cat' comment, his attempt at adding a bit of levity. "I'm not goin' nowhere man. Sorry I had to be kind of harsh with her there."

He couldn't fall to pieces there. The worst thing for Takeo right now would be knowing everyone that cared about him were wailing, tearing their hear out and gnashing their teeth over this shit.

Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

Tsubaki skulked out, her fists clenched 'til the fingernails drew blood. "It's not fair..." she mumbled, her teeth grit together. "The people who did this to them...they're absolutely horrible."

She scoffed, spitting bitterly on the ground. "And they have the nerve to call us monsters...."

Iemoto stood immobile, never allowing his eyes to leave Tsubaki. As he'd said he'd do, he'd followed Takeo's girlfriend outside. After a few moments, he spoke up. "Yeah, I agree, that's beyond horrible, and the people who did that deserve to be punished. Worry not, Takeo knows people capable of just that." he replied, crossing his arms over his chest.

"We must work to make sure that such things don't happen in the future. Trying to get revenge isn't gonna help that, trust me." he added.

[OOC: Rei said to skip him due to him going on hiatus and/or indefinite leave. I feel weird skipping him, but... well, the show must go on, I guess.]

---

"...Not funny," mumbled Takeo shakily. "N-Not... funny..."

Shakily was the operative word. The moment he heard the door shut, Takeo found he no longer had any will to hold onto a restraint he hadn't even realized he'd been holding: he began to shake, as if sobbing. He couldn't cry any tears in his present state, but his body wanted to cry so he dry-sobbed anyway. It was too much. Just, too much. Takeo hunched over in bed and covered his mouth, shaking, sobbing. He didn't even acknowledge Benkei's apology, although if he had been in the mind to, he would have waved it off. That had been exactly why Takeo himself had asked for Iemoto's help, after all...

"G-goddamnit."

Best of intentions or no. It had been a foolish thing to say. he'd regretted saying it at once.

So, he kept trying to do what he could. That meant first of all, letting Takeo let it all out. He was never gonna see again, and the reason why was absolute bullshit. 'cause some bastards were twisted enough to think robbing a reader and a writer and an artist of his sight was more 'merciful' than killing him outright.

So he was patient, and he waited until he'd thought he was ready to hear something again. And re-assured him he was still there with a hand on his shoulder, even as he remained totally quiet.

When the time to speak came? He spoke. "…I wish I could just smile and say 'Naw, dude. This is all going to be alright.' But…I can't. I really can't. But, instead? I can tell you, you'll read again. It might be with your fingers, but after you learn? It'll be no sweat. This doesn't rule out the other things you care about either, even if they might be harder." He hoped to inject some much needed hope to his friend, when he needed it the absolute most, he tried to save the biggest for last. "And any minute now, Tsubaki's going to be back. She's going to be upset but can you blame her? But what she's not going to do is be on some killing rampage. She'll be here for you. Alright?"
