Tsubaki was not the only one who'd reverted to a previous state of mind the instant the bomb was dropped, for Claire's breathing, her almost audible heartbeat, it all seemed to cease at that very moment as she came to a singular realization: It must be like this, it could hardly be otherwise. Those people, while they likely needed to be brought to justice, it was simply inevitable that such a thing would happen to someone. If not Takeo, then someone else. Her silence continued, as she stood with an almost robotic life stiffness about her and the others continued with their own thoughts and actions.

Why did it make her feel so... hollow? Why did it cause all of those feelings she'd accumulated to be swallowed up into the deepest reaches of her being where they had sat for so long? Why did the world feel so... cold and lifeless, so grey despite all of the color around her? This wasn't something she did voluntarily, it was simply one of those psychological defense mechanisms that, for lack of a better word, sucked. Maybe she'd revert back to normal upon growing accustomed to his blindness, maybe not.

But either way, it had to be like this...

It could hardly be otherwise.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Takeo barely registered the sudden cessation of Claire's deep, tense breathing; the sudden tearing pain in his hand, Tsubaki's nails piercing his skin, elicited a slight hiss of pain and, more importantly, centered his focus completely on her.

And then the shout; if possible, it hurt his ears more than her nails hurt his hand. Takeo couldn't stop himself from wincing, but rather than try to take his now-bleeding hand away from hers, he withdrew the other, the one that Tsubaki hadn't caught in her death-grip, and leaned toward her. If nothing else, the loudness of her voice had left Takeo in little doubt where her face was in relation to his eardrums.

Benkei's hollow order to remain calm. Iemoto's clinical echo of the same. He couldn't be like that. It was probably because he had an inkling of what Tsubaki's life must have been like--seeing her approach the college dorms so battered and bruised by her own mother...

His unbloodied hand found her face; missed, slightly, at first, touching her neck, and then sliding upward to cup at her cheek.

"Tsubaki, I don't know. There's nothing that can be done about them right now. Please, just stay with me, okay? I need you. Literally now, I--"

His voice shook a bit. It was only as he spoke that he acknowledged, really and truly for the first time, what this meant for him--the thing that he couldn't escape, the damage that had been dealt.

"--I need you. I can't deal with this by myself. Stay with me. Please."

His hand on her face and the feel of her skin forced him to acknowledge another thing in that moment that made him feel as though a sinking hollow pit had opened in his chest: he would never be able to see his girlfriend again. Be with her, touch her, smell her... taste her, but never see. It was an odd, selfish thing to think about at that moment, and it made him feel guilty to dwell on it for even a nanosecond when there were more important things to worry about, but...

There was something to focus on. A handhold to stop the freefall. It was bad, it could have always gotten worse. Far, far worse. It was something to focus on, something he could understand, and something he could deal with.

"Wait, Tsubaki. Calm the hell down! What good is that going to do now?" He sounded a bit more like himself. If she really wigged out there, it'd be a rush to subdue her before this went straight to hell.

"Stop thinking of stupid shit and just be here for him!"

He moved in, ready to restrain her. A place like this? An open window? It shouldn't happen, right? It had to be her. He hoped this wouldn't devolve into the very worst.

Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

"D-don't worry, T-Takeo...I won't leave" choked Tsubaki, trying to contain the seemingly endless hate she felt for an unknown assailant. "And I know something can be done. I'm sure of it..."

Benkei and Iemoto told her to calm down. They didn't know what position she was in. They were ignorant. And that Claire bitch didn't even look like she cared. Tsubaki wanted to choke her, make her cry for Takeo.

"Calm down?!" yelled Tsubaki, giving Benkei a death glare. "Someone just blinded my boyfriend and you want me to CALM DOWN?!"

She grit her teeth, glaring at everyone else in the room. "I want to see whoever did this to him SUFFER!" hissed Tsubaki. The wind was slowly getting stronger...

Well, at least Benkei was here to take care of the whole "stopping Tsubaki from going batshit" part - Claire wouldn't be of any help, judging by her attitude, so he had to take care of it himself. Which wasn't good, since he didn't know Tsubaki from Adam: she was Takeo's slightly unhinged girlfriend, nothing more, and he had no idea of what he could have said to help her calm down.

"Yes, I want you to calm down. I understand your hatred, I understand your anger, but losing it here isn't going to help anyone. It's not gonna help Takeo, either." he said, aiming to make his words striking, ignoring the wind that was starting to make his coat billow - if anyone came into the room, such a thing would be hella awkward to explain, and by itself didn't herald anything pleasant either.

"We all want the same thing here. Whoever did this deserves to pay for what they've done. But we need to think rationally about it." he added.

The entirety of the events around her did not seem to faze Claire in the slightest, until finally she snapped out of her little regressive trance long enough to realize what had happened. The wind's strength made it slightly harder to breathe, but not enough to prevent her from speaking in a tone that would've almost erased the look of emotionless-ness from the memories of those around her,

"I'd hate to say it, but I'd like to see whoever did this suffer as well but... It won't fix a god damn thing! An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and if you call it justice so help me God I will..."

And then, her words trailed off as she realized that she, nor anyone around could truly help the situation save Takeo. And even then, said actions, whatever they were, would have a very slim chance of stopping the girl. Love made people do crazy things, Personae made them do even more crazy things... and considering Tsubaki's mental state at present....

There was nothing they could do.

It hurt. I hurt to hear so much bile and hate in her voice, the voice that was normally so teasing and seductive, or understanding and adoring, or just annoyed at some irritating thing in everyday life. It hurt to know that he was the catalyst of this change, the object that had made such hatred rise up in this girl, this needy and loving and damaged young girl that Takeo had come to fall in love with. It hurt to think about what this must feel like for her, hurt to think about being a burden on her, hurt to think that she might do something terrible because of him, but mostly it just--

--Takeo's hand snapped away from her cheek, down to the other hand--it snatched at Tsubaki's wrist, and he let out an involuntary his of pain.

"Tsubaki, please--please calm down. You're hurting me."

The statement came out low, and with audible reluctance. Tsubaki's nails were still digging into the flesh of Takeo's hand and it was hurting now. Takeo had tried to keep it from showing on his face or in his voice but he couldn't any long.

"Tsubaki--please. It hurts."

Whether he was talking about his hand or his heart, he couldn't say. It would probably sound to the others as though he meant his hand, and maybe, just maybe, that would be enough to snap Tsubaki out of it.

For now.

"Yeah! I need you to calm the fuck down before you blow the roof off this place!"

He would try to take Tsubaki's hands off Takeo by the wrist, and then, he ended up going into a small tirade about her behavior. "You know how selfish you sound now? You want these people to suffer for what they did. Do you even give a damn about your boyfriend's comfort? To see what you can do for him right now? Do you even realize you're going haywire with the wind magic not a dozen steps from more people in a bad way already?!"

Yeah, this was going south fast. Hopefully she was not beyond reasoning if you bludgeon her over the head with it.

"If it's not gonna fix anything, then what good is...anything?!" snapped Tsubaki, glaring tearfully at Claire. She looked down at Takeo's hand and whimpered in guilt, backing away. "I-I'm s-sorry...." sniffled Tsubaki, letting go of Takeo's hand.

And then Benkei started berating her. Tsubaki gave Benkei a very brief look of murderous hate before covering her face. "I-I need to step outside..." she moaned, shaking her head. "I-I need some fresh air..."

I need to step outside, I need some fresh air. That wasn't what Iemoto had wanted Tsubaki to say, but it was better than nothing - nobody would be surprised by a little wind outside, and the girl wouldn't run the risk of blowing anyone up if she went outside. "If that's what you need to do to calm down, so be it." he said, nodding his head.

After a short pause, he spoke again. "I'll accompany you outside so you have somebody to yell on for what happened. You can even punch me if you want. I've seen worse." he said - following her outside would also help make sure that Tsubaki wouldn't fly off the handle in the middle of the street. "...Unless Takeo wants me to stay,of course."
