Shin awoke in a mysterious room, something similar to an office. Feeling groggy, the bluenette stood up wearily and shook his head as though it would clear the haze clouding his mind. As he looked around, he noticed rather... conspicuous stains on the walls, which he soon moved to touch with one of his pale hands. Gooey... that was the only word he could use to describe it. He soon retracted his hand from the surface of the cubicle he had found himself in,

"It's like... something out of a manga. Now, the last thing I remember..."

The student muttered to himself, trying to recap the events in the hope of remembering how he had gotten himself into such a situation,

"I was walking home from school when..."

An image popped into focus, it was an image of something gold glittering in the sunlight, though he simply did not remember what it was, or what connection it had to the present situation. With a sigh, the student rested his weary form against the wall of the cubicle, placing a hand in his pocket, he decided there were two options:

Stay and hope for a rescue... or leave and possibly get attacked by monsters, or crazy people... or something. The latter was what tended to happen in manga, right? And since the present situation was like something out of a horror Seinen, then.. it would be wise to call out, at least that way he could anticipate a possible attack.

"Is anyone out there?"

As he asked if there was anyone there...... "AAHHHHHHHHH" the sound of someone running became audible, and a small noisy blur dashed by the office door at a breakneck pace. Then the screaming and running stopped, the latter reversed, and she poked her head just past the doorframe.

"Se-Senpai?" She walked the rest of the way into the room, glancing furtively over her shoulder. "Um, did you just follow a weird golden butterfly and wake up here? Also, you might want to get up because I'm being chased by monsters right now."

Helping him out? How sweet this guise of yours, i do hope you end up getting something out of this.

She gripped a small katana in her hands, knuckles white as she kept glancing back and forth between shin and the doorway. "W-well, get up, please. If you have any questions you can, ask me, but it just happened to me last week."

"It's... you."

Shin muttered upon recognizing the girl before him. Though, when she referred to monsters, his eyes widened... with that, his suspicions were confirmed with that. This really WAS like a manga. Though, why did she have a weapon? Why were high school students in such a place, and carrying weapons? Then, Shin facepalmed, because "Manga logic."

With that, he ran towards the door, and sighed. What kind of monsters were they? What was going to happe- before he could even complete that thought, he heard a voice in the back of his head. It spoke to him in an echoing voice that caused his expression to widen,

You're excited, and yet... scared. What is with this anxiety, boy?

She missed the comment on manga logic, too busy looking around out of paranoia. "oh, ri-right, if you hear voices in your head, that is. perfectly. normal." The girl said as she ran out the door after Shin, closing the door behind her before making her way across the hallway.

"So, the creatures are called sh-shadows, and this entire place is filled with them." She turned left at an intersection in an attempt to throw them off her trail, and then had a thought.

Blinking, she continued speaking in between gasps for breath. "Actually, I, might have lost the. Shadows. that were after me. a while ago. For now anyway. oops, we probably. could have stayed." the girl looked away, embarrassed as her run began to slow, and she started fiddling around with getting the sword back in its sheathe.

As Ami explained that the voice was "normal", Shin's form relaxed even further (if that was at all possible, at this point), if everyone else had that problem then... maybe Nagashima was even more crazy than he'd first thought? Either way, his excitement died down at the mention of Shadows. The bluenette sighed and followed Ami, though he had a bit of a hard time keeping up. Luckily for him, however, she didn't stray too far from him.

Wihen she said she might've lost him, he let out a sigh of relief. Though, he was still curious as to what the Shadows looked like, acted like, and how they attacked when they came across their human prey. Or... was it always humans? Maybe they fed on each other too, if they couldn't find people.

"So uhm... Do you mind telling me what this voice is, exactly?"

She looked up, thinking. "Why don't you ask him yourself. Or her, but probably him. But, to, answer it really simply. the voice. is you. the. ...real you. not everyone is happy about what they're like deep inside though."

She looked a bit sad, then her eyes widened in shock. "Behind you!" She drew her sword as three dark shadowy puddles with grasping hands and a blue mask slunk up behind him. And, if he turned around she would step forward and subtly slip her hand into his pocket, utilizing a lifetime of training in the arts of subtlety and stealth towards the noble goal of stealing his wallet and slipping it into her own pocket. "A-apperently I didn't lose them after all..."

"Leanan Sidhe." Her left index finger tremblingly met the top of her forehead, and trailed it down to her chin, a mask fading into view over her face. And in the same breath, a floating woman with blonde hair longer than she was tall faded into view as well.

"You have not called me for quite some time, child. Afraid of the power I offer? Or do you wonder if there is a price." Ami's persona smiled.

Ami visible flinched back, and forced her gaze towards the shadows. "Wha- no it isn't that, but. ...What was it, oh right, Garu!" The air around her sword blurred, distorted as it was infused with the power of air. She licked her lips nervously, and set herself into a proper stance, but didn't quite attack. "not all shadows are the same, the last ones I had to fight were, bird, sword, things."

The voice was... the real him? What kind of sense did that make? It was like... a combination of CLAMP's Gate7, just with monsters instead of reincarnated Samurai, and instead of Oni... they had whatever the voice was. When Ami's eyes widened and she told him to look behind him, Shin pulled a perfect about-face to face the Shadows...

and fell flat on his face upon seeing what they were. Never before had he thought a mass of goo with a mask to be so terrifying, though that was always what happened when someone saw such a thing in real life, right?

Are you afraid? Because...

As he tried to focus on the voice, Ami pick pocketed him, though he was none the wiser due to his present mixture of terror and amazement. The latter was soon intensified as the young woman summoned... well, another young woman. Though that caught his attention, the sudden blur around the girl's sword soon caught his eyes, which widened in surprise. M-Magic? Ninjutsu? Kido? What was this kind of thing called, in this world of Summoners and Monsters?

It's just magic, and... you can do it too..

"I can... do it too..."

Shin repeated under his breath, nervously stepping behind Ami as he wondered just how to do such things...

"t-time to blow you away!" Ami blushed, realizing how terrible the pun was, and took a swing as one of the shadows approached her, slicing clean through it and destroying the creature with the blow.

"C-can you fight?" she said, reaching behind her with her off-hand to grab a large dagger from her belt and toss it towards Shin nervously. The distraction cost her as a blast of ice and cold knocked her over as one of the creatures used a spell of its own, but she remained standing, if barely.

"Ow."

Shin paid more attention to the voice in his head than the girl and monsters in front of him, but when he took note of a glint of metal, he went for it, catching the dagger... and fumbling with it several times, cutting up his left hand just a bit. When he finally got a grip on the hilt of the weapon, he held it as one would expect: As someone without any training whatsoever would. At arm's length, letting it waver back and forth between pointing towards him and the enemy.

When the ice spell went for the girl, the blunette's first instinct was to jump in front of her, but that simply didn't happen... and she seemed somewhat wounded. No more damage would be taken today... not by the girl, at least. Then, the voice in his head started again,

If you want to protect her... call my name... I am...

"Yurlungur!"

In a flash of blue light, a pair of odd headphones materialized on the boy's head, replacing his old ones. Additionally, a large, rainbow colored snake appeared behind him, and seemed to extent outwards towards the enemy in a whip-like motion, only to open its mouth and let a torrent of water pour from it. At that point, Shin took note of the fact that it had not one, but two heads... one on each end of its body, yet only one spoke and blinked.

I am thou, thou art I. From the sea of thine soul, I come forth. I am Yurlungur, the ancient serpent. Make your enemies vanish in torrents of water with my aide. Protect the weak from those who would dare prey on them!

[sorry about the wait.

...also about getting hit without actually leaving room in my narrative for Shin to heroically jump in the way or push her aside or something. oops. : p ]

"Right, um um, they were weak to, u-um, wind. Garu!" Ami's persona let forth a blast of cutting air soon after Shin's blasted the very same shadow with water, and the two spells were enough to destroy yet another one.

"So um... Sh-shadows. You seem to. ..have the hang of it."
