Ryuunosuke blinked, a bit confused. "Do some saving...? I don't know if anything bad has happened to her yet." He continued clicking away at his phone, left hand a bit more unsteady than usual due to a lack of a pinky. "Shishou's plenty strong, actually. I've just got to warn her for now, I think."

Finishing his message, he glanced at Hotaru again and noticed that something seemed to be wrong. He followed her gaze to his hand, realizing that he'd left his bandaged stub exposed. "O-oh, um..." Ryuunosuke put down the phone, letting his arms rest at his sides again. "This... happened when they were asking me questions. I guess I didn't mention it. Sorry."

Hotaru didn't say anything when Ryuunosuke tried to explain the missing finger on his hand. It didn't really matter how he got it in the end did it? The fact that his hand had received a crippling injury was the only thing that really clicked with her.

"Well, you can get it healed by someone once you're out of the hospital right?" Hotaru responded with a whiff of hope. "If people can get their legs grown back I think your hand will be ok..."

She looked down at her own hands. "I'd do it myself but uh... I guess I'm not that useful when it comes to actually helping people."

Ryuunosuke nodded. "Yeah. Hopefully it gets grown back. I mean, we have a lot of healers... I don't know what I'll tell my parents, though." He paused. "Well... I don't really know if they'd even notice, either. They didn't really seem to care that much." His right hand twitched, gripping the blankets as his expression darkened for just a second. Catching himself, Ryuunosuke shook his head. No reason to be sad; this was what usually happened anyway.

He looked over at Hotaru, frowning. "No, you're good at helping people. I mean, you helped me out of the building, right?"

"Eh." Hotaru gave some sort of grunt of acknowledgement. Things would be a bit easier if she just humored him anyways.

"Talk to your friend about this asap then ok?" She said, unsure of what else to say.

Ryuunosuke took the grunt of acknowledgement to mean that Hotaru totally agreed and that everything was alright with her. He smiled a little bit, then nodded at her command. "Yeah, I just sent her a message. Shishou's strong though, so she'll be alright without me for now, eheh..." Ryuunosuke let his sentence trail off, unsure of how to continue. So was Hotaru, apparently, as an awkward silence filled the room for a few, long seconds.

Ryuunosuke cleared his throat, offering a haphazard smile to Hotaru. "Still, um... thanks for visiting me, again. It's nice having someone else to talk to. Not as gloomy."

Silence was awkward as shit. The awkwardness was really only further exacerbated by the fact that she was the only other one in the room.

"Yeah." Hotaru said, looking up at Ryuunosuke after he finally broke the doom and gloom. "Being alone sucks."

Her eyes slowly went back down. Loneliness really did suck didn't it? Maybe that's why she had always gone out of her way to surround herself with people.

They didn't really feel like people anymore though.

"If you're feeling lonely just uh... give me a call I guess."

Ryuunosuke slumped into his bed; this was so awkward; what was he supposed to say? He wasn't really very good at starting conversations. Or at least, he didn't really feel like it at the moment. He practically jumped when Hotaru spoke up a second time, but a smile surfaced fairly quickly at her response. "Yeah, I will. Thanks."

In the desperate mental struggle that followed, Ryuunosuke tried to think of something to say in the impending awkward silence. Something that had been bubbling up in the back of his mind came to the forefront of Ryuunosuke's thoughts. After a brief pause and a frown, Ryuunosuke asked, "Nishikawa-san, do you think I'm strong?"

"Strong?" Hotaru repeated the word. "I feel like you've asked that question before."

She shrugged. What was she supposed to say? She didn't know what strong meant.
"I mean you're plenty strong physically. What kind of answer were you expecting? I don't think I'm the person you should be asking."
