Best Influence.
"Come on," Rio said, and took off running. She pushed through the no-man's land that was beginning to form between the now-pacified crowd and the cordon, heading for a door on the side of the hospital away from the sinkhole. A medical intern was standing, slack-jawed, watching the whole thing by the open door, a cigarette hanging from his left hand, apparently burned down to the butt as the young man just watched the whole experience in mute terror.

"First day?" Rio asked.

The young man nodded.

"You get used to it. This go to the roof?"

He nodded again.

She turned to the others, and pointed up.

"Okay, straight up to the top."

---

The passenger struggled against Kira, kicking at her and trying to -- paradoxically -- crawl deeper into the vehicle. The car had been hanging with its engine block pierced through by a pipe, but the shifting weight caused that pipe to bend, and the sedan now began to slide free, preparing to drop into the churning mass of rubble far below -- though it appeared to be stabilizing, now, forming into a pool of wreckage instead of a great hungry maw.

"No! Stay away!" the woman shrieks. "Monster!"

---

The monster climbed into a hallway, and extended its legs, locking it in place. Two legs jammed into the floor, stabbing through the stained linoleum. Two more stuck through the walls. The last two anchored the figure into the ceiling. It stuck out its more human-like arms and legs each held straight and rigid, fingers and toes splayed as far as they could go.

Crackling energy began to dance between its fingers, casting a baleful glow that only seemed to make the darkness deeper. A similar burst of power appeared on the other hand, and on each of its eight legs -- the six insect-like ones and the two human-like ones -- and began to gather in towards the core of its being.

A ball of darkness appeared in its chest, casting a sort of reversed light through the figure's chest, outlining in negative space a human skeleton, scaled up to the size of the creature. The light began to slide upward, settling in the base of the figure's throat, gathering there, growing smaller yet more intense.

It opened its horizontal jaws, revealing a human mouth set in bloodless flesh. The lips peeled back from the great slab-like teeth, behind which there was nothing but darkness.

Toru vomited forth a projectile -- a cloud of swirling darkness that pulsed and flowed and flashed inside with sparking lights that set the mind spinning to look upon -- that shot towards Treo, tearing through the air with a groaning noise. Within it churned phantasmagoric shapes, possibly lies, possibly visions of another world, possibly terrible visions of the future.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
"C'mon!" Kyo barked, taking off after Rio. Takeo and Shizuka nodded quickly and sprinted after her, though neither was as physically fit--as a result, they lagged behind a bit.

As Kyo came to a stop by the door, she gave the intern a pat on the back and then followed after Rio, with Shizuka following behind and Takeo bringing up the rear. You know, because he's the obvious uke.

"Calm down, everything's going to be-" Her attempt to soothe the panicked woman was cut short by the groan of metal. Kira quickly retreated from the door and grasped the pole, trying to support it with her own strength. Her tail coiled around the car's suspension to help stabilize it and further take the strain off the pipe.

"Look, I know you're scared. I'd be too, in this situation, but panicking won't improve things." She spoke calmly, but firmly. "Is there anything, anything at all, that I can do to prove you can trust me? If only enough to make me the lesser of two evils?" Gravity wouldn't be any kinder to the woman than she was being. Her wings beat quickly to keep herself and the metal cage that was serving as her intended rescue's only lifeline stable in the air.
