Beneath her face-concealing helmet, Kira allowed herself a brief smile of relief. The moment was crushed as she spotted frantic movements out the corner of her eye. She muttered a soft curse beneath her breath as she saw an old man being pulled by something. "Help the old couple, I'll get these two and the lady to the surface!"

She carefully pulled the man and his daughter closer, holding them in both arms. "Sorry in advance for the roughness." Spreading her wings and activating the jets in her armor's heels, she took only an instant to reapply masukukaja on herself and Treo before flying towards the endangered woman. Her armored form's speed was something she was frequently grateful for, but even more than its agility, she was thankful for its strength.

At the moment, she was also thankful for one other thing- the extra limbs. Allowing herself to glide over to the sinking car on her wings, she landed as gently as she could on the side facing upwards. "Sorry, no time for introductions, miss- grab on!" She turned slightly so her hip was facing the woman, placing her tail within easy reach. If it looked like the woman would fall or resist, she would attempt to use her speed to snake it around the lady's waist, taking care to avoid putting pressure on the bulge or causing any harm with her tail's sharpened tip.

Treo nodded, willing himself towards the muscle attempting to hijack the old people. His clawed arm glowed white before he slashed at the muscle, catching the old people in his arms if they managed to fall free. The sinkhole was still sinking deeper into the ruins.

"Fucking asshole. He'll get his."

A monstrous figure emerged from above Treo -- a human-like shape, three meters tall and shelled with a brown-black carapace. From its back came three pairs of segmented legs that seized onto the wall, leaving its more humanoid limbs free for other purposes. There was something nauseating about the figure: a palpable aura of malignant will and deformed shape. It moved as if the limbs on its back weren't attached by muscle and sinew but merely by the idea that they were there.

After a moment of moving, it reoriented itself, coiling its legs and the spidery limbs coming from the ridged spine on its back, and shot out into the air. It somersaulted out into the void of the sinkhole, lashing out at Treo with first the long, bladed legs that emerged from its back, and then with its clawed hands. While it was attacking, Treo could see its face: a mass of orange, spider-like eyes on the top half, the lower half strangely smooth, with a vertical slit running down from a bit below its nose to the spot where its jaw met its neck.

After the attack, an orifice in its midsection opened up and a pale length of tongue-like muscle shot out, wrapping around an exposed girder high up above and reeling in, pulling the bulky figure to the relative safety of the walls. It hung from the girder for a second, then the tongue released, and its human like arms and legs reached out and seized the girder, hanging there while its six bladed limbs hung back, reorienting so that their edges faced downward and outward.

The fire trucks formed a rough circle around the hole, and the police officers established a cordon behind the persona-users, not identifying them as any separate from the crowd around the hole.

One of them raised a megaphone to his lips and ordered: "Everyone remain calm. Everything is under control. Please stand as far back from the hole as you can."

The crowd milled about, calming but not exactly retreating. They still seemed interested in what was going on, but the line of uniformed police officers provided a buffer against them.

Kyo, Takeo, and Shizuka all breathed a simultaneous sigh of relief when actual, official authority arrived to put up a real cordon. It looked like the situation up here was more or less handled...

The green-haired girl, in particular, didn't exactly like the idea of the authorities placing themselves between her and the sinkhole, though. Logically, she knew there was no chance in hell she could help, but being actively barred from trying to in a pinch made her itchy. She turned her head and looked over her shoulder at the newly-formed cordon of uniformed law enforcement.

Well, she thought, her part in this was done. Kyo turned her back on the rest of the crowd and gritted her teeth. She stuffed her hands into her pockets to keep them from fidgeting, and settled in for the hard part:

Waiting.

Seeing no response, she carefully looped her tail around the woman in a way that kept pressure off her mid-section. With her passengers secured, Kira beat her wings against the air rapidly to generate lift. She noted the strain despite her armor and decided two adults and a child (possibly two children) was her limit for a single trip. The ground's gurgling from the metal and molten pavement only added to the sense of urgency. As much as she wanted to help Treo fight, she needed to focus on getting people out.

Hold on!" The openings on the back of her armor's legs spat water, giving the teen enough lift to fly upwards towards the surface. Kira heard sirens and deeply hoped her appearance wouldn't cause panic now that the proper authorities had arrived. She wasn't sure if her armored form was capable of withstanding bullets, and she didn't want to find out the hard way. The jets of water died as she neared the ledge, a powerful beat of her wings being enough to put her above it.

Rather than wait and allow the crowd to form its own opinion of the spectacle, the brunette spoke up, Otohime's soothing tones mixed with her own. "I've gotten the first batch of survivors out," she announced, "but I can't stop to heal people yet while time's this tight. If you've got some medics who can check them out, please do so."

Having flown in closer to ensure she wouldn't be dropping someone on a weakening ledge, she gently released her passengers. Rather than wait for potential questions or accusations, she leaped again, heading back into the hole with her wings spread and eyes peeled for more survivors.

Treo was focused on helping the people he had already picked up, so as the legs came flying at him he span to face backwards, the coffins on his back forming a shield, but the pain was still felt. He spat back the shuddering pain and rocketed skywards, depositing the old people by the side of the sinkhole.

"Focus on the survivors, I'll take him on." Treo swan dived back into the sinkhole, looking for the monster that had escaped into the ceiling. He held his sword in his hand, his clawed arm charging up an almighty spell, the telltale white glow appearing around his hand.

The figure scuttled across the walls, zig-zagging up and down, attempting to keep Kira between it and Treo.

Far below, the last of the vehicles seemed to be getting chewed by the falling rubble, crumpling inward. There was a young man sitting in the passenger seat, his body limp. Around his head was a bandage, and his left eye was covered by gauze. He could be already dead, or he could be still alive, but he certainly wasn't still active.

---

A police officer levels his gun at Kira, shouting: "Freeze!"

The paramedics shrink back from her, but their training takes over and they begin to move the wounded to a spot where they can be treated. The policeman's eyes flicker down to them, then up to Kira and back down. He seems to rethink his position, and begins to help move the wounded away.

The woman Kira had brought up is curled into a fetal position, her lips pressed into a tight, bloodless seam in her face. She is unmoving, but clearly alive and seems to be in shock.

---

Rio looked at the other persona users, and glanced around. She waved them closer.

"It looks like we won't be much use, here, but Ashdown and Kameko can't keep this up forever. I say we try to find a place we can see what's going on and get involved if we need to. Votes yea or nay?"

"Yea, yea. Definitely yea. And oh, policeman-san~!" said Kyo, cupping her hands to her mouth to add this last in a louder sort of singsong call. "I think Surprise Pop-Up Tokusatsu Person there was a good guy, so~ don't shoot her, please~"

Takeo and Shizuka both looked at each other, and then nodded to Rio. "Lead the way," Takeo said uneasily.

"I don't know what help we could be, but we'll do what we can," added Shizuka.

OhgodGUN! The armored teen squeaked as she allowed herself to fall back into the hole, immediately thankful the cop hadn't shot her while she was trying to rush through like an idiot.

Less self-admonishment, more rescuing!
Kira snapped back to reality and looked over the wreckage. She could only see a single car, now, which provided her an obvious target. Unfortunately, that probably meant the thing skittering about knew where she was going, too.

Then we'll just have to be fast. Once more, twin streams of water shot from the openings on the back of her grieves, her wings spread so she would glide down towards the target quickly. Her claws were bared, ready to rip the car open as best she could to free its passenger. Hopefully, Treo would provide her with some covering fire if the beast tried anything.

Kira's thoughts were broadcast by a nod, one of the few ways of notifying he had left, following the claw and sword gripped in his hand. The monster had him on edge. He kept turning around, never once leaving himself exposed for more than a second. He brought one of his coffins forward, using it as a shield. He wasn't sure where it could come from.

"Keep going Kameko-san. I've got your back."
