Kira felt a bead of sweat slide down her cheek. She knew that her own strength, while much greater than the average person's, did little to help. The real progress came from Otohime. The persona's appearance as a woman in an overly intricate garb did nothing to change the fact that she still had the strength of a dragon.

Kira being Kira, she tried anyway. It was as the ambulance began to inch away from the ledge that she realized help had arrived. She returned Treo's nod and paused to gawk at his persona for a second as it set to work on dragging the vehicle from the ledge. Oh please let nobody see that.

The teen grimaced as the likely culprit was once again brought up. "I never met him, myself. Everything on Bedlam says he can't be reasoned with." There was a mote of discomfort between the strain in her tone. That implied that whatever 'something' they did about him would have a degree of finality to it that would clash with her personal beliefs. We can't always save everyone, Kira. Even if we could reason with him, the damage he's doing in the meantime is too much- if it comes to finality, it comes to finality.

The brunette felt the urge to protest, but with the haze of sleep finally gone from her mind, the logical and self-righteous parts of her mind begrudgingly supported the idea. He had nearly demolished the city's hospital for no reason. At least the Russians didn't wantonly slaughter people, and she had the sheer luck to be put in a situation she could try and convince their leader her actions weren't achieving her goals. Death and destruction was Toru's goal, as far as she could tell.

The name 'Naoya' came up and pulled Kira from her thoughts. She looked over to see yet another person had joined to assist. "I'll do what I can to help him, then," the teen paused when she realized she had never caught the person's name. "Thanks for the info and the help. Name's Kira." The introduction wasn't as polite as she would have liked, but for someone busy pulling at a several ton piece of metal so she could go rescue people it was good enough.

He watched as Thanatos went to his job. Normally he would have forbid such an action, but it wasn't simply possible. If they were going to save that person, there was only one way. Persona usage. Kira's persona had a more humanoid form, making it more believable, whereas Thanatos was a monster in appearance.

"Naoya? I'll talk to him. The bastard's gone too far. We can't let this keep going on." He looked over at the other Persona Users.

"Form a cordon, keep people away from the parking lot!"

He chuckled to himself as he turned to Kira. "Who'd have thought, me of all people would get to say that."

"Everybody get back!" Rio shouted, her voice going slightly more nasal in the process. She spread her arms, hoping the fact that she was shouting and seemed to know what she was talking about would help handle things.

Some members of the crowd pointed and started muttering at the appearance of personae. The tone was generally fearful, but thankfully it seemed more "mute horror from a distance" fear than "overpowering panic" fear.

Staff members from the hospital began to emerge and pick their way along the edge of the sinkhole, giving the ambulance a wide berth as they pulled people from cars. The paramedics inside seemed to be rooted to the spot, not wanting to move more than they had to for fear of their vehicle plummeting off the side.

Rio felt that presence again, the one which had heralded the appearance of the sinkhole down below. He had apparently fled the collapse, and now that it was largely complete he had come to witness the devastation. She felt her stomach turn a somersault at the thought.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
"Y-Yes, everyone stand back!" Shizuka added, setting herself further to the side. "The situation is under control. Please do not come any closer, it could destabilize something!"

Takeo took up a position on the opposite side of Rio, but didn't start shouting. The bookworm figured it looked like enough people were paying attention to Rio's and Shizuka's voiced warnings that he only needed to be in place in case someone chose to ignore them.

Meanwhile, Kyo grunted and said, "Fuck it..." Summoning her mask, she put it to her face and Morrigan appeared. "Already flashed this thing in front of a fuckin' lynch mob in the backstreets last night anyways. The name's Kyo, by the way. Kyo Charinko. 'AdrenalineJunkie' on Bedlam, if you saw that post. Anyways, Morrigan, you can--like--get rid of the batwings, right? Pull, dammit."

Morrigan winked coquettishly and her wings turned to bats, which in turn fluttered around the side of the ambulence and hid themselves just out of sight inside the sinkhole. Now appearing to be little more than a human woman in incredibly sexy tights, Morrigan grasped the ambulence and started to pull.

She didn't exactly have the strength of a dragon; she was just another pair of hands. Kyo returned to pulling at the vehicle and muttered, "Fuck, y'know what, maybe it's a good thing people can see this... make 'em think twice about tryin' to lynch their own damn kids if they think, hey, maybe my daughter'll save an ambulance someday..."

Kyo's mutterings devolved into indistinct profanities as she and her Persona both tugged and pulled at the ambulance, adding their token effort to the rescue.

"...There anythin' we can do for the poor motherfuckers who actually fell in?" Kyo grunted after a few moments of this.

Kira smirked at Treo's comment. "If you're gonna live in Nagashima, you gotta be used to surprises. Just wish there were more like that instead of this." Before her cheer could fade, five became six, and the group's combined efforts began to move the vehicle away from the ledge. She flashed the newly introduced Kyo a thankful look.

"HiddenDragon777." Kira muttered between grunts now that bedlam had come up. "Really sorry we couldn't have met in better circumstances." It took a moment for it to click why the screen name sounded familiar, but once she realized what topic she was referring to, the brunette cringed. She considered reassuring Kyo that the creep would be dealt with, but decided now was neither the time nor the place to bring up old wounds.

The lingering elephant in the room of the large crowd of witnesses ate at her, but she took the fact none of them were screaming and running about like chickens with their heads cut off as a good sign. "I'd prefer if this year just faded into myth with bigfoot and UFOs," she sighed, "but if we have to be seen, I want it to be like this." She knew there would always be die hard believers, but she also knew there would always be skeptics- and the more of the latter, the better.

She nodded at Kyo's question. "Once we've saved the ambulance, I'm gonna try and find a path down. I don't know if we can get all the survivors out in time, but every second we shave off the process of pulling people out and getting them medical attention or healing magic might mean the difference between life and death."

Not even counting the possibility someone might have fallen into the ruins themselves. She shuddered at the thought, not just for their safety, but the concern something could get out the same way they got in.

Treo smiled back in reply. "But we'll handle it, right? That's what we're here for. At least that's what I believe. That's all I can believe now." He watched as the Ambulance finally began to move, panting slightly. His heightened stamina helped, but Thanatos was doing his amount of the work.

He smiled in reply. "We can show them, right? We'll be able to change opinion. If we're seen like this. I'd be fine with it. Freaks from afar. Not hated or hunted, simply avoided." He sighed. "Not the best, but it'll do."

Treo nodded with Kira. "I'll come with you. I'm a pretty good healer, though I'm not on your level Kameko-san. Possibly the downside of being a Wild Card. Jack of all trades, master of none. I'll keep you safe, to say the least."

Rio began to scan, her mind churning. What could they do about those people trapped down there? Maybe with a rope or something they could...

There was a noise, not quite a sizzling, not quite a groaning, and immaterial wisps of black rose up from the depths of the hole, dissipating in the sunlight. The number of people she sensed down at the bottom of the hole was shrinking, one, two, sometimes as many as three at a time, but there was a pause between each string of deaths. Maybe something could still be done, if they moved quickly.

Rio realized that something could still be salvaged from the event. She fumbled with her vest, and produced her camera. She hadn't done much photography, but she knew enough.

"Keep the crowd back," she instructed Takeo and Shizuka, raising the camera and taking aim. She focused, getting the personae and the persona users in the same shot. She moved to the side, doing her best to preserve the anonymity of the people working to save the ambulance. She snapped several pictures in rapid succession.

The ambulance moved up onto more level ground, and the paramedic behind the wheel took off the parking break, now that there was less danger of sliding back in. "I'm going to put it in neutral. We've got a patient in here. Could you move us so there's enough room to open the back doors?"

Kyo glimpsed the black wisps from around the side of the ambulance and swore.

"There's Shadows--in the--sinkhole--" she grunted. "Can't get out, but--we need to wrap this--up an' get down there to save as many as we can--" Kyo snarled with exertion and snapped to no one in particular, "Damn it, Alexis, where are you when we needja?! That arm o' yours would come in real handy about now!"

Takeo and Shizuka merely nodded in agreement with Rio's request. Neither of them saw the camera.

Kira froze at the black wisps coming from the hole. There was either fire, shadows, or the one responsible besieging the people down below. To make matters worse, she could hear a camera clicking away behind her. Her heart began to hammer in her chest. She was in a fully concealing disguise, but that did nothing to hide the others or their personae.

Dammit! It was then she decided to take a chance. There was already a 'monster' in plain view and time was of the essence; subtlety was becoming a distant concern. Kira closed her eyes and focused on a spell. Water bubbled underneath the ambulance, helping lift the vehicle and move it into a spot where it would be safe to open the doors. The water evaporated as the combined strength of the people moving the vehicle finished the process.

"Otohime." Her tone was tired and agitated. The persona nodded, and a quiet crackling came from Kira's mask. As badly as she needed some proper sleep, there was a lot of work to be done before she could allow herself to rest. The duo ran towards the hole in blatant disregard of their own safety. They reached the edge in no time, thanks to the speed enhancing spells they had cast before. Neither of them stopped.

Geronimo! Kira leaped into the gap, just two steps behind Otohime as she did the same. Her mask had already begun to stretch over her body into a familiar and comforting shape. The timing was just right, too- just as they dipped below the sight of the crowd, the persona vanished, and she could feel two new limbs extending from her back. She beat the leathery appendages against the air as fast as she could, slowing her descent into the hole as her armor continued to melt over her. Through her visor, she searched for the nearest car or source of black smoke using her vantage point.

Treo watched as Kira leaped into the hole. Once he was sure the Ambulance was safe he nodded to Kyo. "I better back her up. Wouldn't be much of a gentleman if I didn't. Plus I'm sure most of her friends wouldn't let me hear the end of it."

He followed after Kira, summoning Thanatos beside him. As he leaped into the hole he braced for impact. Armor form would be too much of a risk at the moment, the downside of not being able to use his Persona for a week put him into a position Aleksandria could exploit. With the Persona by his side he carefully looked around.

"Kameko-san, are you okay? I'm here to back you up!"
