"I used to have one," Kakeru said when Kyo talked about girlfriend. "A nice girl too. But then she dumped me and turned rebellious. It's complicated," he said simply. "I'm too innocent for this kind of stuff..." he said with such deadpan expression on his face. He didn't even know how sex worked before both him and Isoroku became couple. "You don't have to worry about this, Kyo-san..."

As they finally arrived in front of their homeroom, Kakeru stopped and looked at the girl. "So, you first," he said to the girl. "And if you don't mind, would you like to have a talk with me after school?" he shrugged after he said that. "You see, only a few people know about my little secret, and I need to know whether you can be trusted or not..." he said in somewhat serious manner.

Kyo eyed Kakeru shrewdly.

"I dunno whether I can be trusted or not," she said plainly. Part of her was curious about this girl Kakeru had apparently dated before, and why she could have dumped him, but it would be a bitch move to actually ask about something like that. Nice girl who dumped him and turned rebellious? That sounded like an interesting about-face. Kyo had to wonder if it was the "good" sort of rebellious or--

Kyo's face darkened a bit. She'd seen some good girls go really bad, back at her old school. One in particular had been selling herself for quick cash. Kyo hadn't done anything, but that sort of behavior disgusted her. You could sell things, you could pay with money, but the one thing that Kyo believed no one should ever do was sell a person. Least of all one's self. Body or otherwise.

Unless it was to someone you just wanted to be with, but that was an apple next to a rancid hunk of raw skunk. No comparison at all.

She'd let herself get lost in thought and then said, "Yeah, we'll talk after class. But you stay where I can see you the whole time. And if you try somethin' I will fuckin' curbstomp you so hard you pop out in a South American wilderness somewhere. Try findin' your way back to class after that."

She turned and walked into the room without further comment.

"Right, right..." Kakeru sighed. "I'm not really that depraved, you know?" he said as Kyo entered the classroom. Then, he also entered the room, finding that the class wasn't over yet. Going to his desk, he did what he usually do; listening to the lesson like a good boy should do.

So, let's skip until the end of the school, where Kakeru was still sitting at his desk. His eyes were half-closed because there was nothing he could do at the moment. He waited for Kyo to come to him because she promised that she would have a talk with him.

Kyo waited for the bulk of the class to filter out of the room. Then she got up from her desk, stretched, and shuffled over to speak to the vampire-guy as promised. Because why the hell not, he was right there anyway. No excuse not to, really.

She leaned back against the desk next to him. "So," she said. "You wanted to talk. So talk."

"Good," Kakeru smiled as Kyo went to listen to him. "I thought you don't want to see me again, after what I did to you," he said before he chuckled. "Well, I was kinda worried that you won't talk to me, and leaving you with that little secret of mine. You see, I can't just let you go just like that..." he said. "Before you, there were about four people who knew about my secret, and all of them are my friends, or at least acquaintances."

Kakeru shrugged. "Well, if I am the old me, I may decide to use my Fear spell on you and load your head with many scary things until you won't be able to remember the thing about my secret, but I guess that won't be too efficient. And you may turn insane by that..." he said without missing a beat. "So, I'd like to guarantee that my little secret is safe with you..." he closed his eyes and crossed his arms. "But how?"

"Psh," Kyo said. "Guarantee that your secret's in safe hands, huh."

This is starting to sound rather unsafe for us both...

Kyo grimaced. Unsafe, indeed. At face value it sounded vaguely like Kakeru was contemplating whether to resort to blackmail or some other type of extortion. She leaned forward, eyes narrowed. "Well, dude, you sure as shit aren't gonna get that guarantee by threatenin' me, I'll tell you that much."

Kakeru chuckled when Kyo mentioned about blackmail. It wasn't his style to blackmail someone. "Threatening you? Of course not..." he said. "About blackmailing, you're the one who should be able to do that instead of me. You have my secret, right? You can use that secret to blackmail me..." he said. "And it's kind of worrying that you have something that you can use to blackmail me. It's not like I'm implying that you're going to blackmail me, but I'm thinking about all the possibilities here."

Kyo clicked her tongue. "I would never blackmail someone," she said, hell, growled even. "Don't even--" But she stopped herself from ranting at the boy, partially because there were still students milling about outside the classroom and she didn't want to draw them in by raising her voice. "I don't do shit like that," she said in a more normal tone. "It's not right."

Why do people assume that we're complete and utter bitches just 'cause we're party girls? her Persona asked. Kyo couldn't tell whether the question was rhetorical or not.

"Look, I just wanna know whether I can let you go an' not have nightmares because I was the one who let the psycho vampire woman-eater get away," Kyo sighed, rubbing circles at her temples with both hands. "I'm not out to ruin your life, I just wanna make sure you won't ruin anyone else's."

"Fair enough," despite the change of tone in Kyo's voice, Kakeru's tone remained polite. "Then... I guess I can tell you this, about this strange vampirism," he said. "From my experience, this impulse is triggered when I see a lone, seemingly weak and helpless woman who won't be able to fight if I assault her, but it won't be triggered if the woman doesn't fit the criteria," he said. "It means that a woman that can resist my Fear spell, who is also well-prepared and can fight on her own won't trigger this impulse. That's why I won't be able to assault them..."

He cleared his throat. "And... those who are willing to have their blood being sucked by me won't trigger the impulse as well. I guess if the victim is willing, the urge will vanish. So, as long as you're well aware that I am dangerous, and knows that I can assault you anytime and accept the fact that I may suck your blood anytime, my impulse won't be triggered," he said. "I tested it already with a friend of mine. She offered herself to be bitten, and the impulse wasn't triggered."

"Well, this is just a reminder," Kakeru shrugged. "As long as you know that I am a vampire, or at least a bloodsucking fiend or something, you're safe. Those who don't know about me are in actual danger, actually..." he said. "And I'm still working on how to cure this vampirism..." he admitted.

Wait. Wait wait wait wait wait.

I know, kitten. That has some rather uncomfortably psychological implications, doesn't it?

Kyo kept her face neutral. The impulse only triggered when someone was unwilling? Actual willingness shut it off? What the hell? It was rape. Just without the sex and with a more confusing hickey. And anemia.

"Well," Kyo said. "You get on that, then. I'll keep my mouth shut. But if I see you attacking anyone I will step in. And it won't feel good for you in the morning if it comes to that. We on the right page, here?"
