Madoka grunted as he stumbled back, feeling a foot against his gut. Treo had regained his footing a lot faster than Madoka was expecting and now he paid for it in the pain in his stomach. He chuckled a bit. "That's a ridiculous move you've got there. Got me good."

He gave himself a second to recover and resumed a fighting stance.

Treo gave a grin, raising his hands once more. "I aim to please. Gotta pull out the better moves against someone who knows what he's doing." He didn't move closer but instead dropped his guard. "They say you can learn a lot about someone by going fist to fist. Battle teaches us what talking would not." He raised his guard again, arms blocking his face. "But you're distracted. You're thinking about something. You could beat me without trying if you weren't."

He grinned, allowing Madoka to take the first move this time. "So what is it?"

"Well, like you said, I'm distracted. I always really have been, I guess," Madoka shrugged as he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "It's all that junk about Shadows and problems that people always seem to get. Mine just told me to get my act together. Thinking about it, I've been goofing off a lot, so I guess that I'm just a bit depressed.

"Besides, fighting isn't all about winning, right?"

Madoka threw a quick one-two punch, starting with a right leading punch rather than the standard left.

"Then get your act together." He lowered his guard. "You may not realise it, but your shadow has a lot to offer you. It may talk of you in a negative fashion, or even act like an ass, but its you. The you you don't show."

A glint of yellow showed in the boy's eyes for a moment, along with a smirk. This was different to the others though, it held more of a sadistic tinge than a mocking one. "Fighting isn't about winning, but you don't want to be the loser either!"

The one two punch found its target, but Treo wasn't going to just fall over. As the left came in, he felt the second impact, giving a grin. "That's it!, though you're going to have to try harder. I didn't feel what I wanted to feel from that punch." He pulled himself back and stood, hands in pockets.

"Come on. Put everything you've got into your fist. Hit me." He spat a small amount of saliva, red stains mixed among the clear substance.

The punch connected unexpectedly. It looked like Treo didn't feel like he didn't have to dodge.

"Feh. What do you think I've been trying to do these past few weeks?" Madoka said, a challenging smile flaring up across his features. He rolled his shoulders. "I promised myself that I would get stronger and I guess that I just haven't done much of that. Messing around with ramen and playing around with cool gadgets... Maybe I've lost my aim a bit?"

Madoka chuckled at the Wild Card's invitation for a punch. "Actions speak louder than words, right?"

Madoka closed his eyes and concentrated on drawing his fist back, on the stretch of muscle and ligaments, the feeling of his entire torso twisting to the side in preparation. Maybe Treo was right that he was holding himself back too much. Getting stronger meant pushing limits. Holding back meant that he thought that he could win without going all out. Maybe he had forgotten what it was like to put his soul behind a punch.

His fist exploded forward as Madoka launched a straight.

Treo gave a grin. "Maybe you were avoiding the question by distracting yourself. Its okay. The journey doesn't go directly as planned after all." When he chuckled and finally cracked a smile the Wild Card knew he had done something right. "Actions speak louder than words indeed. Show me that resolve."

As the fist went back, Treo waited, then at the last moment, raised a hand to the fist, blocking it from his face. He grabbed the fist hard and it was then he felt it. The power and soul flowing through his fist. He grinned as he placed a second hand on his arm, making sure the fist had been stopped fully.

"That's what I'm talking about! Now you're really getting it." He let go of his fist.

"So now what's your plan? You gonna try and hit me again?"

"Who said anything about try?"

Madoka lashed out with a ferocious kick to meet Treo's side. Just as quickly, he pulled his leg back in to avoid getting locked into a grip. He used the pivoting motion to launch into an open-palm blow aimed for Treo's chest.

"So what's your story? You were looking pretty phony up until a second ago."

The kick couldn't have been avoided and the boy felt it impact with his side. He was thankful for the resistance to physical his persona granted, or he would have been floored for sure. Then the second blow came and Treo let go of his arm, crossing his arms to block the palm blow, sliding backwards from the impact. He shook his arms and sighed. "Jeez, you don't mess around, those were some serious punches."

He tilted his head. "Phony? I just acted how you expected. I had to break it to get you out of your depression. But that's beside the point." The teen brought his body around, putting his weight into a strong kick to Madoka's chest.

Now Madoka crossed his arms into a guard, grunting as he bore the brunt of Treo's kick, but standing his ground. He forced his way forward, taking two large steps before he pulled his arms out of the cross. He hoped to throw Treo off balance by pushing against the kick, but he had seen how well that worked out the last time he tried to trip him up.

"Hey, thanks for cheering me up."

He had no intent of using sheer muscle alone. After all, there was more than just power. There was also speed. Madoka grinned roguishly.

"Let me express my gratitude!"

Madoka launched into a flurry of punches, his hands a blur of motion.

He met the punches with his own. A speed spell was passed through his eyes, so he could make the pinpoint movements he needed. Punch met punch until Treo was punching back every single one of the flurry. He grinned at the boy. "Now this is soul. This is the kinda thing I've been waiting for. Don't hold back anything for anyone, break down the walls ahead of you. That's what you should do. No its what you should have been doing."

He flashed a card between his fingers, the Tarot for the chariot. "Isn't that what this card said?"
