"K-Kariyama-kun, thank goodness you came! I-I'm so happy!" A girl with pigtails was standing in front of Jun Kariyama (who was actually Isoroku Mayoi in disguise), blushing and fidgeting while fiddling her fingers. A moment ago, Jun received a letter that told him (for convenience, while in male persona, Jun will be called as a he) to wait at the courtyard after school. And just a moment ago, Jun finally realized what would happen after this. "Miyako-san, what's up?" Jun asked politely, despite already knowing the situation he would have to go through after this. "You left me this letter, right?" he showed the girl an enveloped letter, and the girl shyly looked away. "Umm... anoo... K-Kariyama-kun, I..." the girl, Miyako stuttered. "A-actually, I..." "Yes?" Jun tilted his head. Miyako gulped. Ever since Jun came to the school, she couldn't help but to be attracted to him, thanks to his attractiveness and politeness. "Umm, Miyako-san? What's wrong? Your face is red. Are you sick?" Jun asked before he placed his palm on Miyako's forehead. "Hyaah~ aauu..." Miyako's face turned even redder. At this rate, she wouldn't be able to say it to Jun, so she steeled herself. "A-actually, there's s-something I want to tell you, K-Kariyama-kun! I..." she bit her lower lip before she continued. "I... I like you! I-I really like you! I wanna be your girlfriend!" And Jun already expected that. Jun, or Isoroku is biologically a girl, but thanks to this disguise, Miyako was attracted to him. And thinking that he wouldn't like to break her heart after showing her his secret, Jun decided that one thing should be made. "Y-you like me?" he began. "W-well... I guess I'm grateful for your feelings towards me, Miyako-san. But..." he looked away. "Kariyama-kun?" "I'm sorry, but it would be better if we just stayed friends, Miyako-san..." Jun said apologetically. "..." Miyako was silent for a few seconds before she gave Jun her response. "I see..." she said as she smiled. But Jun could see sadness in her eyes. Well, it's better than breaking her heart by showing her his secret. "...You already have a girlfriend, right?" "Ah, that..." Jun stammered. His, or her relationship with Kakeru was kind of complicated, so it would be better if it's left unmentioned. Not to mention Edward, which also should be left unmentioned as well. "It's... kinda sorta..." he shrugged. "But, I'm really sorry, Miyako-san..." "It's alright," Miyako gave Jun a sweet smile. "I guess I need to say 'good luck' to both of you. See you around, Kariyama-kun~" and then, Miyako left, leaving Jun alone at the courtyard. "..." after being left alone, Jun was contemplating about something. "Am I that attractive?" |

Meanwhile, Harkens was skipping through the halls with a spring in his step, a tune in his mind and murder in his eyes. Or was that just hunger? Telling someone's mood via their eyeballs always has been a skill that the author has never quite possessed. "I can't see where you comin' from, But I know just what you're runnin' from. And what matters ain't the "who's baddest," but the Ones who stop you fallin' from your ladder, 'cause..." Stopping by, he saw a girl being let down by a strangely androgynous entity whose gender he was uncertain of. While he wanted to say it was a boy, he then remembered how in his days certain clients had really weird requests that as long as it left the stock intact he was obligated to fulfill. Still, the biggest issue is that he can come up by and pick up the... Entity's leftovers. Pulling his hair backwards and straightening his waistcoat, he flashed a grin at the girl and said, "Well greetings there, humanoid. Don't worry about getting your desires crushed into fine powder, I'm sure you'll find someone else for you. In the meantime, how's about I buy you a carbonated beverage of your choice?" |

Seeing Harkens' appearance, the girl could only blink in confusion. "Huh?" "Ah, Miyako-san, just wait!" and then, Jun came after Miyako. "There's something I need to ask you first, would you mi-" and then, he noticed Harkens. "Oh?" of course he could recognize this guy. "Hello." "Kariyama-kun, do you know him?" Miyako asked. "Umm... I don't really remember," Jun lied. "Kinda..." Edited by Prince Arjuna, Oct 5 2012, 11:00 AM.

Meanwhile, in the background, a notorious bully was breaking into sobs as a certain banchou confronted him: "Look, I'm sorry! I'll give the wallet back to the kid, I swear!" Shinta grinned wickedly as held the bully by his collar. He had recovered from that fiasco in the ruins and was feeling particularly aggressive. "Not so tough now, are ya? What's wrong, you scared of messing with someone your own size?" "P-please! Have mercy!!!" Shinta laughed and pulled the bully closer so he could see the murderous intent in Shinta's eyes. "Y'know what, I'm feelin' generous today. I'm gonna let you off with a warning. But tell ya what: if I hear you bullied another kid, there won't be enough of you left to put in a matchbox." The bully shrieked and ran off. Shinta sighed and began silently observing Harkens and the person of debatable gender as they talked. |

Meanwhile, another teenager was walking through the school's hallways, paying little to no attention to his surroundings while doing so. Akio Sakuraba was reading a book, a math book to be precise. The boy needed to focus every single neurone he owned on the complex formulas written down on the pages, and couldn't allow himself to be bothered by such trivial tasks as looking ahead. The boy's feet were moving on their own, carrying him where he wanted to go. Suddenly, reality. Akio's book jumped to his face, and the next thing the boy knew he was struggling to keep his balance. If angels existed, right now they would already be writing AkioXBook fanfiction. The truth was that Akio had a strange tendency to end with books jumping to his face. "Watch where you go, fuckwit !" a voice said before Akio ended on his rear. The teenager picked up his book, looking around before noticing that he had almost reached the school courtyard. Three persons were talking to each other in the courtyard, while a fourth one was seemingly observing them. Akio thought about resuming his reading, but his focus had been broken, and the magic was gone. He instead decided to greet the group. It was constituted of a weird-looking guy, a girl with pigtails and a third person who was either a very androgynous-looking male or a female doing a decent impression of a male. For the time being, greetings where in order. "Hello there ! Could you please free me from an uncomfortable doubt and state your gender ?" he asked with a wide smile on his face. He didn't know why, but not being sure of the gender of the person in front of him made him feel really uncomfortable. Edited by GKG, Oct 5 2012, 05:10 PM.

"Mystery of the hour good sir." Still, it does seem that the individual knows who he is. Perhaps his reputation has preceded him. That or they've had prior interactions. "So erm... For those who don't know already, you all get to call me Harkens." |

Jun was taken aback upon hearing that question. His real gender was his precious secret, and it would be a bad time to reveal the secret in front of Miyako. "I... I..." Jun should say that he was indeed a male, but somehow, due to certain reasons, his conscience couldn't allow him to say it. 'Damn it! At time like this, there's no way I can say otherwise! Damn you, my conscience!' "Don't say that to Kariyama-kun! He's a real boy! No matter how much you see him, he's manly, strong and kind! Well, maybe he looks a bit girly, but he's definitely a boy!" and Miyako defended Jun, and he was grateful for that. Silently, Jun expressed his gratitude to Miyako. 'Nice going, Miyako-san! If I weren't a girl, I may have taken you as my girlfriend!' then, he paused a bit before he shook his head. 'Wait, that sounds so wrong in so many levels! I'm straight! I'm definitely straight!' And there was another random person, who's supposed to be a banchou king or something. Strange. |

"Well, you might be right about the "kind" and "strong" parts, but I don't think most people would call Kariyama-kun "manly". But there's no problem with that ! Intelligent people seek strenght and kindness, not manliness." Akio said, an indulgent smile on his face. Akio took a quick look at Harkens. This one could hardly be mistaken for a girl, alright. Had he already seen the guy before ? He wasn't sure. Taiyoutono was filled with such a large amount of colorful personalities that keeping track of all of them was difficult. "Oh, right. You can call me Sakuraba. Akio Sakuraba, class 1-1." Akio added after Harkens introduced himself. |

"Salvete, good sir." Getting a closer look, Harkens could indeed recognize Jun somewhat. Still, he'll keep his suspicions to himself. "True. Ladies admire a certain quality to men that only a few have. Speaking of which..." Digging into the pocket of his jacket, he whipped out a thin white stick and held it in a flower-like stance towards Miyako. Giving it a confused look, he held up a finger and asked, "Un momento, por favor." With a single vigorous shake, a flower-like set of paper then poofed up from the top. "Ah, that's more like it. For you, milady." Edited by Vect, Oct 7 2012, 06:11 AM.
