Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

Seiichi usually enjoyed Philosophy class, but on this particular day, he just couldn't focus. He had been up until 1 in the morning working on rooting out a couple of particularly tricky programming errors, and was also planning where to go 'hunting' later today. So, as the dismissal bell rang, Seiichi was still idly looking over his textbook, unaware that class was over. He then blinked. Oh...class is over...well, I just look stupid now, don't I? |

"Alright, you're dismissed," Masahiro said. A cacophony of noise followed as the class headed for the door. "Remember, your paper is due on Monday. Anyone without homework on that day will not be allowed in the class." The noise of footsteps mingled with the chatter of students nearly drowned out Masahiro's follow-up. The silence that followed seemed almost alien to the teacher's ears as he began to pack up. Throughout the entire lecture, the popular girls gossiped about boys, celebrities and fashion: the nerds' discourses on their areas of expertise were lectures in themselves. Paranoid, half-formed rumors about monsters in the night and Russian invaders were tossed about, soundly mocked, secretly believed in. Only a few were silent, and those few were absorbed in their books. Of all the conversations, the wild discussion of the monsters that plagued the city held his interest. Though much of what they said was silly and half-baked, at least it was a sign that they did not blinker themselves. Perhaps they still had hope. As Masahiro turned to leave, he saw one person still in his seat, staring at his textbook as if to devour the words inside. Well, at least one of them is taking this class very seriously, he thought. He approached the student, lightly tapped on his desk. "Class is over. You can go now," he said. "That is, unless you have questions to ask." Edited by Icarael, Aug 12 2012, 11:51 AM.

"Ah, um..." Seiichi did a quick scan of Masahiro-sensei. He's a Persona user of the Hierophant Arcana...wonder how much longer it'll take for him to awaken... Seiichi cleared his throat. "Sorry, I've been having my mind stuck on the rumors about magic-using monsters..." He faked a laugh. "Far-fetched, right?" |

So the one person he thought was listening was actually more interested in the monsters. Masahiro decided it would be better to indulge him, just this once. If nothing it would make for an interesting conversation. "Perhaps," he said, "perhaps not." He looked out the window, eyes fixed on the rising sun. "Then again I've seen far too many things to really say monsters don't exist." |

Seiichi smirked. "That incident in the park...they say that the magic-users are to blame for the deaths...but personally, I pin it on the victim's stupidity: if you see monsters, you run for it." That statement was only part truth: he thought that it was because the victims were to weak to survive that they perished. Seiichi didn't view the incident as a tragedy; He viewed it as a necessary purge of society's excess. Survival of the fitness and such. "Though that's just my opinion, of course." |

Masahiro chuckled at Seiichi's words. This one seemed to understand just what he'd been trying to teach. Perhaps there was hope for the crop of students under him, after all. "Indeed." This time, there was no warmth in the smile he gave Seiichi. "It was a learning experience. That's how things work when you deal with a predator. You run, you fight... or you die." He snorted. "A shame so many only know how to fear death and run." Edited by Icarael, Aug 13 2012, 12:03 PM.

"I'm quite aware of that. Allow me to ask you something: do you consider the 'magic-users' a menace?" Seiichi gave Masahiro an equally cold smile. He was debating as to whether or not he should tell the teacher that he was a Sleeper. |

The smile the student gave Masahiro was cold. When he looked into his eyes there was no mirth, no amusement in them. Only cold calculation. For a few seconds, Soichiro wondered if he was looking at himself in a mirror. "I don't know about menace," he said, when he had found his tongue, "but I do know that when something sets you apart from the rabble, society tends to look disapprovingly on you." There was disgust and disappointment in his voice as he spoke. "They always think that way. What foolishness." Edited by Icarael, Aug 18 2012, 11:03 AM.

Seiichi smiled inwardly. Show time! "Allow me to ask you another question: if you had powers like these magic users supposedly do, what would you do with them?" |

So that was where this conversation was going! Soichiro decided to entertain him some more. After all, this was the hot topic of the month. "With power like that, you can do anything," he said. "I have no idea where I'd start using it." |
