don't stare at it too long

Hibiki was pleased with himself. Last night's Midnight Swaguar show had gone quite well; more and more people were tuning in to the sound of his voice every night. He'd chosen not to ruin anyone's life last night though. The focus had been on the new 'magic' people running around and some other school rumors. Tons of students had been going missing lately. Just a few weeks ago, almost 12 had gone missing at the same time. Only two had ever reappeared, and they couldn't remember what happened to them at all.

It had to be those magic users right? Hibiki smiled to himself and placed his feet on the lunch table. He would kill to meet one of those magic dudes. If there was any way he could somehow get those powers as well...

"... Hey, Hibiki, stop zoning out."

"Huh? Oh, sorry man." Hibiki chuckled. He looked around the table at his friends. Every single one of them was a fucking idiot. Jun was currently cheating on Mayu with her sister Mio. Daichi had pulled the fire alarm at school last week and the authorities were still looking for them. Sakura had brought alcohol to an off campus track meeting.

The real question, for Hibiki at least, was who to fuck over first.

They all started gossiping about some other dumb thing. Hibiki was only half listening. Just enough to fool them into thinking he was actually really interested. He did however, catch something going down on the other side of the cafeteria that did catch his interest.

"Are you saying you sympathize with those bastards!?" Some angry student was yelling at an underclassman that had been knocked from her chair.

"I-I didn't say anything like that, I just said that they weren't all bad! One of them saved me in the mall the other day..."
She stammered out her defense.

"Fuck you!" The older student began, breathing heavily. "My dad was killed in the park! They're all sick! We need to kill all of them!"

Hibiki let out a low whistle.
"S'cuse me for a second guys." He hummed, gently pushing his chair back in under the table. There was a young girl out there that needed some help after all. It looked like a job for Hibiki Kurosawa, friend to all women.

"And if you like them, you're no good either!" The student shouted, raising his fist to try and strike the girl. Hibiki however, managed to grab the boy's hand from behind before he could strike the girl.

"Hey now, don't you think you're being a little extreme here?" Hibiki asked with a smile. "Maybe you should let the girl go."

"You're on her side then!?" The boy shouted, nearly going into hysterics. "You're one of them aren't you?"

Haha, I wish. Hibiki shook his head. "Nope! Though if you don't stop I might just have to use my super normal person powers to make you stop."

Other people in the cafeteria were quickly starting to take notice. Murmurs of a fight could already be heard circulating among the student body.

Lunch time in Taiyoutono was never exactly peaceful, but rarely was it violent. Of course, when it was, it was usually the job of some upstanding student or, in most cases, Kaji Okawa, to break it up. The rumors about him being part dog persisted as he seemed almost able to smell violence from the other side of the school, along with the rumors about him being gay, the rumor about him carrying around a pet rabbit all the time, and the one about him being a douchebag who broke up with his girlfriend with a text message.

Kaji grimaced to himself at the table he was sitting at. Okay. That last one was true. And the second. He didn't even know about the first.

He certainly wasn't part dog, however, but he did recognize a fight brewing when he saw one. The shouts at the other side of the cafeteria caught his attention. More magic based trouble... There had been a lot of that lately. He got up, carefully walking through the crowd until he noticed a fist being raised. At that point, he began running through the crowd, although some other boy got there before he could.

Of course, now it looked like the aggressor was about to fight this new guy, so Kaji decided to use something that generally kept him out of control; he stepped forward and twisted the upperclassman's ear. His expression was flat and unamused. After all, he dealt with this kind of stuff, and a lot worse, all the time. "Stop that." He glanced over at the girl. "You alright?"

Hibiki got a brief nod of acknowledgement. Kaji didn't listen to any radio shows, but he seemed like a decent guy. Stopped punches and stuff.

Who was this guy? Right right, Kaji Okawa. Hibiki was surprised he didn't recognize him at first. After all, there were so many lovely rumors about Kaji floating about the school. He was probably gay, broke up with his girlfriend who dressed like a man to begin with probably because he was gay, he carried around a rabbit at all times, which was pretty gay, and another rumor yet said he had a weird obsession with staves.

Gaaaaay.

Oh well. Being gay didn't stop him from being one of Taiyoutono's chief enforcers of the law.

The teen Kaji was twisting the ear of cried out in pain, trying to swat away Kaji's hand. "Let go of me jackass!"

Somewhat shaken, the girl on the ground managed to pull herself back up. She glanced at Hibiki and Kaji, mouthing out a small word of thanks.

"You should probably head on out of here now." Hibiki said with a wink. "Go to the nurse and get yourself checked out real quick."

The student and nodded and headed out of the area. This didn't exactly please the teenager Kaji had so rudely ear twisted.
"Don't you get it! She's one of them! They're the only ones that would say stuff like that!"

"That seems like a pretty base assumption to me." Hibiki shrugged, sticking his hands in his pockets.
"I'm sensing a lot of misguided anger here."

"Shut up!" The student yelled, taking a swing at Hibiki. The punch didn't come as much of a surprise; that kid had been itching for a fight. Probably so he could vent. Hibiki jumped back out of the way just in time to avoid the blow.

"You don't understand what I've been through!"

"No, I don't, but that's no excuse for violence."

I'm the best! I'm the king of me! I'm gonna eat chips out of the garbage!

Having forgotten what time lunch started, Ryoichi was one of the last people to arrive to the lunch room. Upon arriving, he was greeted by a fight in the cafeteria. This wasn't exactly anything special, because Taiyoutono was not really one of the most well behaved schools, but it was concerning nonetheless. Ryoichi couldn't remember an actual physical fight breaking out in a while.

He walked up to where the fight seemed to be going on. He narrowed his eyes when he heard the aggressor speak. He was accusing this girl of being one of "them"... There'd been a lot of aggression toward the Persona users lately. So he thought she was a Persona user?

Ryoichi wasn't even paying attention to the others there, otherwise he would have noticed that Kaji and Hibiki were there. He grasped the upperclassman's wrist when he threw the punch.

"Please stop," Ryoichi said. "I don't know what's happened to you, but that's no reason to yell at everyone and throw around arguments... your friends wouldn't like that either."

Kaji noticed Ryoichi, but said nothing of it. After all, they had an angry student to deal with, here. Deciding that he'd had enough of this student's misguided aggression, Kaji removed his hand from the student's ear and placed it on his shoulder instead. He stepped behind the student and with a quick push and a sweep, it was likely that the angry student was now on the floor. If Kaji had been successful, he'd immediately go down and pin his knee on the student's back, hopefully keeping him down.

"I know what you've been through, and meaningless violence will only ease you temporarily. And get you detentions. Possibly suspensions." Or very large public property damage fees, if you were a persona user. "Calm down."

Shouting and yelling in the cafeteria was nothing odd. Certainly not for Nagashima, and from what she heard, not even for schools in less insane regions of the world. So when Noriko casually glanced over the shoulder to look at what was going on, the sight of a boy about to punch some girl's face in made her inhale her drink from the surprise, spilling some on her carefully organized notes.

After taking nearly a minute to recover from the fizzy drink in her lungs, the teen stumbled to her feet and began swiftly (if stealthily) making her way over. Shouts of 'magic' and 'one of them' immediately redoubled her pace. He's not seriously gonna attack someone over a dumbass rumor like that, is he?!

The word 'kill' froze her for the briefest of seconds. Two girl's faces- Rio and Yuzuki- came to mind. No matter what they were involved in or how evasive they had been as she asked questions, THAT was not a word she ever wanted to hear associated with a group involving the two. Noriko's face went from livid to cold in a second as she continued her approach.

By the time she'd gotten through the crowd, the girl had disappeared, and Kaji Okawa- whom she recognized from several other times he had stepped in to stop such events- and two others her frantic mind didn't quite place were trying to subdue and calm the boy. She came to a stop a few steps away, being careful not to get within his reach if he tried something.

"I don't quite care whether she was a magic person or alien or whatever," she spat, "all I know is right now, you're the one trying to beat the shit out of people on the flimsiest justification." Noriko took steady breaths, trying to keep calm. She couldn't remember the last time she'd gotten so angry. "'Kill them all' is the exact same damn thing you're accusing them of. If you do what 'they' do, you are 'them'."

Kaji's quick strike pinned the teen to the floor in a flash. Not every student at Taiyoutono was a fighting genius after all.

"Let go of me!" The boy hissed, looking up at the enforcer holding him down.

Hibiki smiled. Two more people had joined the show; Mr.Forget-me-not and the resident detective nut Noriko Tsukino. She'd been asking an awful lot of questions about the incident and those magic users lately hadn't she? Maybe they needed to have a spot of tea and swap rumors at some point.

But first there was a boy on the ground that needed dealing with.
"Ah, your classmates are right. There's no need to show such extreme prejudice towards anyone."

He knelt down and flicked the extremely rude boy on the forehead.
"As you can see, it usually ends up with you being on the other side of actual punishment."

The downed boy mumbled some swear words under his breath, looking at Ryoichi, Noriko, and Hibiki before finally glancing back up at Kaji.

"How could you possibly understand? Those freaks killed my dad!" He looked over at Ryoichi. "You... my friends do support me. A lot of people do. More than you think!"

He finished by glancing at Noriko and Hibiki. "And who cares! I want my dad back! I want justice!

There were a lot of things Ryoichi could have said in response to the boy's yells. He could have expressed sympathy, or argued against him, or anything like that. But he was awkward with words, and knew that anything he said would likely have the opposite affect.

So he slapped him.

"Stop that," he said sternly. "Killing is wrong, even if it would stop others from hurting. No matter what your friends say. Their opinions are important too, but in this case... they're really wrong."

He held a napkin out to the boy. "No one else needs to suffer, ok? So wipe your tears with this."

[Icarael, kindly ask before joining a pretty full topic next time. I know it says 'open,' but hello, common courtesy?]

Kaji frowned at both Ryoichi and Hibiki. "Stop hitting him," he hissed. He already had the kid on the ground! Making points is fine and all but violence is not necessary, thought the kid who had just pushed the troublemaker to the ground and still had his knee on his back. Kaji placed his hands on the boy's wrists, standing up and off him and forcefully moving his arms to his back, holding them in place.

"I could go into a long tirade about justice," Kaji began, "... but that's a job for the school therapist. Who you'll be seeing after you face real justice." He gripped the boy's arms tightly, placing his other hand on his shoulder, starting to walk away from the gathered crowd. "The principal's office."

He stopped for a second, looking back at the people who'd helped out. Kaji recognized Ryoichi, but the other two escaped him. He gave Hibiki another nod, silently thanking him for helping out initially, before speaking up. "You two." A glance was shot at both Hibiki and Noriko. "What're your names and what year are you in?" He would probably have to bring them up as well.

"The word you're looking for is 'revenge'." Noriko practically hissed at the boy. "One of the most worthless causes imaginable. I suggest you learn the difference." Taking a breath to calm herself, she turned towards Kaji and nodded. "Noriko Tsukino. Second year, second class. I agree, by the way," she turned towards the other two boys, "hitting him isn't going to knock any sense into him. You have to let him vent it out."

At least, that's what dad told me about dealing with children having tantrums. Now that she had actually gotten there, the second year realized she didn't have much to offer on the subject besides that. The boy was already subdued and not in a good mindset to listen to reason. Being near the center of attention of a decent chunk of the cafeteria wasn't doing much for her nerves, either.
