Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

Shinta sighed. He was checking out the kendo club on the suggestion by Takashi-sensei to do something non-banchou related. He could hear the whispers about him: "Oh shit it's Shinta. Step aside everybody..." "He's gonna snap one of these days. And when he does, I am getting the fuck outta this town." "Oh, looky, it's the Banchou King. Hey! Hey! Where's the crown, Your Highness?" Shinta groaned. Popping in his earbuds, he cranked up his music player to a dangerously high volume, trying to drown out the nasty remarks. But it didn't help. It never helped. He still knew they were talking about him. Just keep walking, Shinta...don't get involved. Shinta stopped. He had arrived at his destination. Opening the door, he poked his head in. "This is where kendo club meets, right?" Edited by fearjunkie, Jul 17 2012, 08:30 AM.

Inside the Kendo club, no one noticed Shinta at first because they were all busy training. Plus, it was a big gym, and most of them were wearing helmets. Miyuki, however, had been getting some water and speaking with Satosu, who showed up for some reason. Satosu looked over at Shinta with a smirk on his face before leaning in towards Miyuki, whispering, "Isn't that the Banchou king? The kid who hangs out with a bunch of retarded middle-schoolers?" Miyuki frowned, shaking her head disapprovingly. "Hey, don't say that! That's rude." She whacked lightly him on the head with his bokken, placing it over her shoulders as he winced in pain. "He's the kid that hangs out with a bunch of intellectually disabled middle-schoolers." "Are you sure he isn't 'intellectually disabled' himself?" "Hush." Miyuki walked over to Shinta, leaving Satosu to do god-knows-what, and took another sip from her water bottle. She nodded. "Yeah, this is Kendo club. Do you need something?" |

"Yeah. I was considering joining the club." answered Shinta. He looked over Miyuki's shoulder to see the bishonen rumormonger who had the whole drama club wrapped around his finger. Shinta had no interest in joining the drama club. And it totally wasn't because they dldn't do enough Shakespeare. Nope. Not at all. "So? Is there some paperwork I need to do." Shinta wondered why the wanna-be thespian was hanging out in the kendo club. |

Oh god, ew,, she didn't want this kid in Kendo club. He hung out with retarded middle schoolers. Gross. Shinta did seem to rub most of the school the wrong way, and Miyuki had heard some nasty things and rumors, and if there was anything she'd learned by hanging out with Satosu, it was that rumors were occasionally true. Miyuki put a hand on her hip, the other hand holding her sword over her shoulder. She raised an eyebrow. "You want to join? Now? Isn't it kind of late in the year?" They were starting to get better at this, and she wasn't sure they had, or wanted to use, the time to train a newbie. |

"I guess, but hey, better late than never." Shinta could tell that she was mentally cutting him down- probably making fun of Stampede, too. Seriously, why did everyone assume that Stampede was made of drooling middle schoolers? Everyone in Stampede was in high school and fairly intelligent...well except for poor Baito, but fetal alcohol syndrome was a bitch like that. |

"Okay, that's enough for now." The coach's voice rang loud and clear over the snap of bamboo on bamboo and the scuffing noises of socks on polished wood. Whenever Kuzuki heard him, his first instinct was to lay down his shinai and listen. "You people can take a break," the man said, gesturing with one big hand. "The rest of you grab your shinai and get ready." Kuzuki turned away, pulling off his kendo mask as he approached the bench. Snatching the towel from atop his gym bag, he began to scrub at his hair. Through the thick cloth he could feel the warm dampness of sweat. A pair of kendoka much younger than him passed by, whispering to one another and pointing at someone in the distance. He recognized Miyuki as she walked towards the entrance, but the tall kid in the doorway was less reecognizable. From looking at him, though, he could see he was quite athletic. "I'm guessing you're planning on joining the Kendo team, right?" he said, standing up and approaching Shinta by the doorway. Why he'd chosen now of all times was beyond him: by now the team was getting ready for the regionals. They wouldn't have time to train a newcomer. Edited by Icarael, Jul 20 2012, 11:42 AM.

Miyuki pointed the end of her bokken into the ground, leaning on it and looking Shinta over. For a kid who hung out with middle schoolers, he was relatively well muscled, but she'd heard rumors about his attitude, and plus, gang activity. And his timing was absolutely awful, as well. Kuzuki walked over, a guy she sort of knew, and asked him if she wanted to join. Miyuki frowned. "Well, better late than never, but better early than late. You realize what kinda timing you have? We've got regionals coming up fast and we don't have the time to train a newbie." She tilted her head. "Why the sudden interest, anyway?" |

"Takashi-sensei wanted me to get into a non-gang related club...and I really don't wanna piss that guy off..." answered Shinta. "Is there some sort of entrance test I have to pass?" |

"That depends," Kuzuki said. "How much do you know of swordfighting?" Now that he looked at the kid closer, he seemed to recognize him. He'd heard rumors about Shinta: that he hung out with delinquents, that he beat students up for their lunch money and made his own gang. His first impulse was to kick him out and tell him never to come back, but if he did that the coach would probably get angry at him. Better to give him the benefit of the doubt and then kick him out afterwards. |

Miyuki raised an eyebrow, holding up a hand. "Wait, wait, wait... So Kouno-sensei told you to join a club to get you away from gang related stuff... so you decided to join the only club related to fighting. And he's totally cool with that." She shrugged her shoulders. "Not trying to start anything, but wouldn't it be a better idea to join, like, sewing club or something? They don't have a tournament coming up in a few weeks, unless there's some crazy sewing competition I don't know about." |
