The more she looked over her notes, the more certain Noriko was that she would have a migraine by the end of the day. As she went over them, her leads had narrowed down one by one, until she had only a few left. The helicopter was a bust, as interesting as the trivia she got from looking up the exact make had been. Searching on the net about Russian corporations in Nagashima hadn't helped either- there were a surprising number.

The relevant sections of the park were still closed, so she couldn't investigate the scene itself. Her first choice for learning about explosives had been a bust, too- the chemistry teacher had flat out admitted he didn't know any type of explosives that would reliably create little shrapnel and a bell curve of injuries like had been seen.

That left her with her second lead on the matter- the student council president. If what she'd heard was accurate, a rather pleasant and excitable girl. Doesn't hurt to be as respectful as possible, though. Checking her uniform to make sure it was as clean and prim as possible, she nodded to herself as she went over the notes in her head.

Walking up to the doors of the school council room, the second year gently rapped her knuckles against the barrier. "Excuse me. I'm Noriko Tsukino of class 2-2; may I have a word with the student council president?"

As Yuzuki heard a light knock on the door, she smiled a bit. So it looked like the student council had a guest? The girl adjusted her cap as she looked around the room. It was still a bit untidy from the last time that the student council had met; due to how little action they saw, people were just content with leaving their notes where they were accustomed to sitting. Adjusting her hat, she bounded up and quickly procured everything that cluttered the desk and went over to a little filing cabinet where the council notes were generally held.

Yuzuki deftly dropped each person's belongings into their respective folder and shut the cabinet with a satisfying click. She looked over and nodded assent at the now-tidy table and went over to answer the door. As the door slid open, she smiled. "Hi there, Nori-chan~!"

The exuberant greeting earned a grin in return. Noriko had just met the girl and already she could tell her good mood was contagious. Remembering her manners, the second year bowed. "Sorry to bother you, president-san, but I had heard you would be able to help me with my problem."

Despite how embarrassing it was, admitting to her reason for being there was easy in the presence of such cheer. "With all the rumors flying around, I couldn't help but be curious about what had happened in the park. When I went to talk to the school paper's editor for information, she agreed, so long as I did a 1000 word follow up to the article she did."

Deciding to get to the point, Noriko continued. "One of the leads was about the injuries sustained by those there at the time of the incident. Normally you'd get a lot of moderate injuries from an explosive with a few life threatening ones and some outliers receiving minor scratches, but in this case there was a great deal of severe and minor injuries with little in between. Not only that, but there wasn't any shrapnel found, which is odd in and of itself."

The blond forced herself to keep momentum- the explanation was longer than she had intended, and she didn't want to waste the student council president's time. "The editor pointed out two specific people who could help me. Raleigh-sensei was the first, but he admitted to not knowing of any explosives that would reliably have those effects. The second was... well.. you."

Noriko shuffled her feet, felling uncharacteristically childish. "So I was wondering- can you help me with my research into the park incident?"

"Alright then! I'll hear you out!" she said, returning to a face of calm with a slight smile on her face.

Yuzuki nodded at points throughout Noriko's reasoning, with her smile growing into an energetic grin as soon as Noriko got to the interesting bits. As always, the girl had done her homework. She clapped and laughed gently. "That's a solid argument. The park incident really was strange, so I'm glad that someone is investigating it. And I'm really happy to know that you were the one to pick up the case!"

She skipped back into the room and gestured for the other girl to follow.

"Sit wherever, Detective-chan! You already know who I am, and I make a point to know everyone at this school! After all, that is the duty of a president!" Yuzuki said as she pointed at her temple with one index finger. She went over to her rolling chair at the front and took a seat.

"So that means we can cut the introductions a bit short. Then we can cut to the quick! Who recommended you to me and why, Detective-chan? It looks like you have a pretty strong background already and you asked Raleigh-sensei, too. Usually, no one really goes to the Student Council for answers, so you don't mind if I ask, right?"

Noriko followed the other girl, having to restrain herself from skipping. Something about the purple-haired student's demeanor could stomp out negative thoughts and emotions. Trying not to blush at 'Detective-chan', she sat down when prompted in the seat next to Yuzuki's.

She replied to the question with a nod. "Of course. The editor for the school paper, Matsushita-san, recommended you. She said you'd have some knowledge of explosives." Noriko tilted her head as a thought struck her.

"Though you knowing every student in school may have been another reason she pointed me in your direction, even if she didn't say as much. She said that several students who attend here were witnesses to whatever happened at the park. Logically, someone who knows every person that attends would likely come across some information from them, or at least be able to point out a few who would be willing to recount their experiences."

That would be a massive help to her investigation- rather than having to sort through students who were merely repeating rumors they heard, she could get information straight from the horse's mouth. "But I'm getting ahead of myself. Could you tell me if you know any explosives that could do what I described at least somewhat consistently? After that, would you be so kind as to recount what you know of the incident that occurred in the park?"

"Oho. Rio-chan did?" she nodded, taking in the data. It seemed that kaichou didn't want to handle with Noriko. That's how things like this normally happened. So it looked like it was up to Yuzuki to handle the pricklier bits. Nevertheless, Yuzuki puffed up her chest -- or lack thereof -- in a bit of pride. "It's good to hear that the school journalism community is willing to put their faith in Yuzu-chan~!"

She stood up and walked over to a cabinet, which she unlocked with a small key. As she pocketed the key, she opened it to reveal a plethora of random bottles, containers, tools, and assorted items. From there, she pulled out a blue bucket with DONATIONS written on the side in permanent marker. Noriko might be familiar; there were similar buckets around the entirety of the school near public facilities, such as in the main office and outside the cafeteria.

"If you're talking about low-shrapnel, I can think of a few little tricks that can do that. Promise you won't tell," Yuzuki said as she took the slotted lid off. The interior was lined with some clear, airtight material. She popped off the bottom of the bucket, pushed a handle out and aimed at Noriko.

"All of the donation buckets. That way, whenever something attacks the school, we'll always be prepared!"

She pulled back on a grip in the middle of the apparatus and immediately let go, shooting a strong gust of air towards Noriko.

"Or if someone ever wanted to pull any pranks~ Which is why this needs to stay. a. secret. Alright~?" She said, putting a finger against her lips and winking. "But pressurized air is one way that could generate that sort of damage. Of course, there are some dubious parts to that, though."

Seeing Yuzuki point the presumed weapon toward her sent a wave of terror through Noriko's body. Instinctively, she dropped to all fours to avoid what she expected to be an explosion. She wasn't sure if she was more relieved or annoyed when the feeling of a blast of air blew her hair back. Calmly returning to her feet and dusting herself off, the teen nodded. "Right, secret. I won't say a word." The second year secretly doubted something like that could help students, especially if nobody knew about, but didn't have the heart to say as much. "It might explain the lack of shrapnel, yes, though I agree it's dubious."

"It'd have to be one hell of a burst to cause some of the injuries it did, and even if it did explain the bell curve, a gust that size would still create some shrapnel related injuries from the dirt and rocks it'd blow around. There's also the question of where the compressed air was stored at the time. I'd assume any devices or similar would have been pretty easy to spot, but I heard nothing of the sort from any rumors or recounting witness testimony."

Despite her own doubts, Noriko wrote the possibility down in her pad along with her reasoning. It was good to keep track of things she'd discredited, and there was always the chance she was missing something. A bolt of inspiration struck her. "A sort of pressurized water cannon, maybe? It'd make some sense considering the injuries and lack of shrapnel... but water is much more visible than wind, and there would have been a lot of it lying around after the fact- someone would have mentioned it." She wrote that down as well.

"You've opened my eyes a bit, Yuzuki-chan. I was hadn't considered it might have been something beyond the typical fire and metal explosion that caused those injuries." Realizing she was getting ahead of herself, Noriko stopped and looked up. "Erm, sorry. Went on a tangent there, didn't I? What were you going to say about the dubious parts?"

Yuzuki giggled a bit at Noriko's reaction. It was entirely understandable, but there was always something amusing about watching people overreact. She converted the air cannon back into a bucket and clicked the lid back on. "I wouldn't worry about shrapnel; if an air cannon were fired above ground, it shouldn't be too much of a concern. It's not a matter of where it would be stored for me, but the amount of damage that it would do and the span of the damage."

She returned the bucket back to the closet. "If we are assuming that it still took an explosion to cause all of this damage, then there's the problem of figuring out how it was stored. Generally, you can only have an explosion if there is exceptional pressure. Pressure that only a metal container can contain. There would be metal shrapnel in that case.

"So the next-best thing would be a military-grade air cannon. Which there would certainly be rumours about, yeah? Same thing with the water cannon. It would seem strange that something shaped like a gun would go unnoticed, unless it was mounted from a roof."

Yuzuki adjusted her hat. "But I didn't see anything of the sort when I was there. Either way, it still would not have gone unnoticed."

Noriko nodded, jotting down Yuzuki's explanation. "A military-grade air or water cannon... maybe mounted on the helicopter? Major injuries would be from direct hits, minor injuries from near misses. That raises the question of who was in the copter, but it would explain why you didn't see-" The second year student stopped mid-pencil stroke. Looking up with no little surprise on her face, she had to ask the obvious question with equally obvious answer. "You were there, Yuzuki-chan?"

Part of her wished Rio had told her that before she sent her off, but she supposed the editor may not have known. "This is a bit sudden and I apologize for the rapid subject change, but could you tell me what you witnessed?"

Yuzuki nodded, giving a reserved smile towards Noriko's surprise. It looked like Rio didn't tell the girl about that one small detail. "To be sure, I saw the helicopter taking flight. I can tell you with certainty that there wasn't any sort of air cannon on here. For the amount of destruction it caused, it would have to be a lot bigger."
