"..." Alexis was rather ticked off at how this man dared to call her 'baby' and 'missy', though this did not really present itself outside of a small twitch of her eyebrow. Weighing up the pros and cons of walking with this man was a fairly simple task, with the young woman fully aware that by running off now she could easily escape him. But still, she knew then that someone who could recognise her would be out there, and if he was an enemy he could inform any allies he had. Also, from the way he was acting, it was unlikely that this man was any form of hostile force. Decision made, the young woman stared coldly into the man's eyes.

"... very well, sir. Lead the way."

"Name's Edward, by the way..." Edward introduced himself as he walked, expecting the woman to follow him from behind. "You don't have to call me sir. And please... while I believe that I can be a truly dangerous person, don't worry, I won't bite..." he grinned as he glanced back. "Especially towards a lovely lady like you, miss..."

"Ain't you being a bit flirty there?"

"Shut up, trash bin. Don't make me feel stupid here..."

"My name is Alexis, sir, not 'miss'." The soldier failed to keep up her emotionless facade as she hissed out her reply, following this man, Edward, as he rambled on about unimportant things. Her face twisted into an annoyed scowl at his last sentence, though she was internally uncertain of why. Perhaps it was because of the adjective 'lovely', or maybe it was because of the way he said it. Regardless, Alexis quickly hid her anger once more, letting it simmer beneath the surface. Focusing her thoughts, the young woman asked the first thing that came to her head.

"Edward-san, what do you mean you can be a truly dangerous person?"

"And my name is Edward, not sir" Edward grinned. He noticed that his presence had somehow annoyed this woman. "So, Alexis then..." he chuckled. "Why, do you think my presence is irritating you? Well... it's not like I can help it," he shrugged.

"Ah, that..." the assassin chuckled. "Well, I don't think I can really prove it that I can be a truly dangerous person, but..." his grin widened. "Do you believe that I can kill you, right here and now?" he said in completely nonchalant tone. "But, of course I won't do that. Killing a fine woman like you would leave a bad taste in my mouth, after all..."

"... I see." Alexis narrowed her eyes, giving Edward another look over, far more analytically this time. She cursed herself for not paying more attention to the man. No matter how someone appears outwardly, they're still potential threats. It was difficult to believe that this man was any form of threat, but his words held a conviction to them in spite of their nonchalance, a truth conveyed through tone moreso than by words. Stopping in place, the soldier realised that Edward was likely also trained in some manner, seeing as how he was able to recognise her mannerisms. However, his behaviour was much too loose to be a soldier or anyone from another mercenary group.

"... just what are you?" The words slipped from her mouth unbidden, her curiousity overriding her emotional control. Alexis internally cursed, but nonetheless awaited an answer.

"Me? Well, nothing special..." Edward shrugged again. "Just a humble man who likes doing a humble job," he paused. "Or maybe not. My name is Edward Keller. And my job is killing people..." he said simply.

"... is that meant to impress me? Or intimidate me?" Alexis asked, her face remaining passive as she crossed her arms across her torso. It seems that this man was a killer, which in all honesty made him a known quantity. She was familiar with killers, she was one herself. Often as a child she would wonder what it was like to not be a soldier, but any questions were soon cut off by the return of the chaos of war, the rush of battle overtaking her life once more. It was how she had been raised, molded by training and need to become a deadly force on the battlefield. Trying to talk to civilians was difficult since they were so self-assured, never aware of the lurking danger. "Because if you think you're doing either, then I might as well leave. I have places to be."

"...Nope, I'm just stating the fact," Edward replied. "You don't seem to be impressed nor intimidated, so I guess it's neither..." he said.

"So, you want to leave, huh? If you want to leave, where do you want to go, then?" Edward asked, grinning. "Because... the only rightful place for a soldier is a battlefield. Do you want to return to your own battlefield?"

"I will return to my family, and my home." Alexis answered smoothly, closing her eyes. This man seemed extremely good at extracting information from her, but she had her doubts about his ability to even do anything with it. Opening her eyes slightly, the young woman felt a shudder of fear and doubt sneak into her consciousness, but soon quashed it. She was not trusting this man, she was informing him of information easily accessible from the right channels. "My childhood friends were my weapons, my explosives and death, and my family trained me to be one of the best. I am a soldier, and I will find my way to battle, my home, no matter where it is."

"Is that so?" Edward mused. "Well, suit yourself, Alexis-chan..." he grinned. He wondered what would be her reaction when he added '-chan' after her name.

"Tell me something, do you not trust me?" he chuckled as he asked that. "Well, that's understandable. I'm not someone that could be trusted that easily. But to tell you the truth, I do not intend to pry into your backgrounds and your past. It's... irrelevant, you know?" he said. "What I want to say is that... can't we just have a civil conversation between two civilians?"
