"My attempted murder of Makoto Nakagawa," Kaede said bluntly. "That was the last vision I saw before that recurring one came back again and spurred my Persona's ascension." She tapped her hand on the side of the chair. "On the bright side, I don't have three voices arguing in my head anymore. On the other hand, my Persona likes to make me hallucinate now." |

Roushi raised an eyebrow. More attempted murder. Well, at least this one was attempted rather than true. Some of the kids he got were pretty crazy, and at least Kaede seemed to be in good health at the moment, or at least articulate. He frowned. There were a lot of questions he could ask at this point, and he wasn't sure which one to tackle first. He scribbled them down on the notepad so he wouldn't forget. "So, you had a vision that Makoto Nakagawa would be killed by you, so you..." He raised an eyebrow. "Went out to kill him?" She was avoiding actually telling him what the reoccuring vision was, so he assumed that one was a bit touchy. Maybe later. The three voices were probably either of the paths she could have taken and her base persona. Or, at least, that's what Roushi was assuming. The hallucinations, though; those were interesting. "What're these hallucinations about? Are they more visions?" |

Kaede shook her head. "No, I had a vision that he would be killed in a fire. It wasn't until I encountered him in my hallucination addled state that I realized that I was the one to start the fire. "As for what the hallucinations are... They're not quite actual visions. Instead everything is rendered in a more symbolic manner based on... how I perceive it, I guess. So Kaji ended up as a golden knight, Sora ended up as a fallen angel, and Makoto ended up as a rabid wolf," Kaede said. "But despite that I was somehow still aware of their identities... does this make any sense?" |

Roushi just continued writing. His notes, all in all, were highly professional: his most recent scribble consisted of the words, "HALLUCINATIONS = BAD" underlined several times. "So, the hallucinations and everything put you out of it to the point to where you thought it'd be a good idea to fulfill your own visions?" The question was posed seriously, with no hint of skepticism. He nodded when she described the hallucinations. "... Yeah, I think I got it." He paused for a moment, thinking of where to take this. He decided to fish for some more information. "So... Pythia, I see. Tell me about your ascension." |

Kaede shrugged. She guessed it was something like that. Honestly, she didn't remember much of what had happened while she was hallucinating too well. And then Roushi hit the big, obvious question in the room. "Right... Well, it was after Kaji came to visit, and I was trying to sleep... I couldn't get to sleep, though, because I was just too freaked out and stressed out at the time. And suddenly I get a call from Nakagawa, and it's all about how everyone who ran out to the ruins to help people were too late -- everyone who was down there that morning ended up dying after all. And my Persona started talking to me... and I realized that fate couldn't be avoided, and that I was being stupid by trying to avoid it." She took a deep breath. "And that's when my Persona changed." |

Notes, notes, notes. His pencil seemed to pause for a moment when she got to the exact reason her persona changed. He'd assumed it was going to be something like that, but damn, these kids sure were nuts. He didn't respond for a while, just writing a few more notes. Eventually, Roushi adjusted his legs, crossing one over the other while accidentally stepping on a stuffed seal, causing a rather loud squeaking noises. It didn't seem to bother him in the slightest, however. "Fate can't be avoided?" He tilted his head. "Why is that?" |

"Because there really isn't any choices after all, because trying to stop something usually ends up causing it, because human knowledge is shit, because stopping one event doesn't stop the underlying cause." Kaede shrugged. "There's a lot of reasons fate can't be changed." She hung her head. "So why should I even bother anymore? It's not like I can save him..." |

Roushi just tilted his head at her explanation and subsequent declaration of despair. He took a few more notes before taking a deep breath, as though he were going to go off on some big speech, declaring her thoughts null and void. Instead, he asked more questions. "What are those reasons? You didn't exactly go into much detail, Kaede-chan." He smiled encouragingly, a tinge of concern coming through in his words. He picked up a small stuffed seal, squeaking it and placing it on the desk. "Come on, tofu-chan wants to know more, too." He readied his pencil. "Why aren't there any choices? Why can't we stop the underlying causes? Hm?" |

"Because they just are!" Kaede yelled irritably. She didn't have much of a clue herself, but that was what her Persona had been telling her for the past few months and proving to her even more often than that. She didn't need a reason to think that. She was sick of dealing with this therapist guy. At this point, she had half a mind to walk out then and there. |

Roushi frowned. "Because they just are. I see." His tone wasn't exactly convinced. Then again, neither had Kaede's. She seemed fairly irritated, so he got to the point quickly. "Is that what your persona says?" He didn't even need an answer to know that it was true. It was fairly obvious. "Do you have any actual, concrete proof beyond a few anecdotes? And from what I hear, not all of your visions have come true." He frowned. "It seems to me like you're letting your persona get to you. Which, of course, I can understand. It's a nagging voice in your head that won't go away." Shrugging, Roushi continued. "Even if it is a part of you, you don't have to be your persona." |
