Kumori smelled vomit when he awoke. His head buzzed with the noise of pain and his eyes burned behind his eyelids. He was numbly aware that he was drenched in sweat, joints and muscle and tendon welded together in the same, unfeeling mass. In his chest, he felt his heart beat out a slow, steady rhythm. Slower than he was used to. Couldn't be Hoculus. The boy was still dimly aware that he cast out his scanning range at a low level as usual. He spat onto the floor he was on to get rid of the acidic taste as he tried to push himself to his feet. After all his experience with headaches and mental pain, it seemed that it never got any easier to cope with. He tried to launch into some dry laughter, but it came out as a wet, slow, dying gurgle. He cracked his eyes open to see the grey-blues of night or early morning on a shining surface. Through the blur of his vision, he could make out the lines of waxed floor boards. The boy bent his knees and placed his hands on them for support. Even though his leg muscles burned with a particular ferocity, it was better than lying on the floor. Blood lurched through his veins. Forty-five percent red blood cells. Fifty-four percent plasma. The remaining point-seven percent allocated to leukocytes. Kumori knew the constituents of blood. But it felt thicker, somehow. Heavier. But now he was light-headed. The pain in his head made his mind flutter high up, lighter than air. Slowly, he tried to regain composure. Breathe in and out. Fight the burning in his lungs. His leaden stare followed the edges of the wooden boards. Something was wrong with the floor. Very wrong. But what? He glanced at a pool that broke a line he was following, shining in pale moonlight. Vomit. Probably his. But that was unimportant. He stared for a while before he made out the writing on the floor. Black marker. His handwriting. "...a sweet food produced from nectar by bees. Depending on type, it displays different degrees of electrical conductivity. Honey is generally a viscous liquid, though the consistency varies..." he trailed off as he meandered over to another part of the room. The school gymnasium. He looked down at the floor and continued reading in a murmur, "...formed through various stages of partial digestion and periods of evaporation. Enzymes synthesised in the bodies of bees, such as invertase..." The boy shook his head, trying to feel disbelief. But he found that he couldn't. Too tired. He stepped towards where the janitor's closet should be and saw more writing on the walls. The doors. The windows as well. "...referenced in The Book of Exodus when the Promised Land is described as a 'land flowing with milk and honey,' which is similar to the alleged abilities of Bakkhic maenads to bring milk and honey to spring from..." A quiet thump echoed from outside the gymnasium's entrance, followed by another, and another. In contrast to the muffled noises, a loud crash signaled a ninja being thrown through the doors with enough force to splinter them. Kira wasn't sure WHY these ninjas were lurking about the school or why one attacked her when she spotted it, but she didn't care. Taiyoutono was bizarre enough without them running around stalking students. Entering the gym after the ninja to ensure it was unconscious only reinforced Kira's belief. "The hell? Did I just walk into The Shining?" The brunette looked about at the extensive writing. She paused and noted with faint disgust the ninja had landed face-first in a pool of something noxious looking on the floor. Turning her head back to the writing (and keeping an eye out for more puddles of vile fluids to avoid stepping in one), she hesitantly continued in. "At least it's more informative than 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'." Hand still firm on her kendo stick, she kept her eyes peeled for any sudden movements. There were too many crazies around, and she didn't want to get jumped. "Is anyone there?" Slowly, her eyes locked onto a figure in the dark room. It took a moment for her mind to recognize the shape and its faintly visible features. "...Kumori-san?" |

As the ninja burst into the room, Kumori inclined his head, watching as the unfortunate man landed in the puddle. He murmured a word of apology. When he could sense Kira, he paused, turning over to the window to check the stars. What time was it exactly? He couldn't tell the position of the stars just through the small window, but it certainly wasn't light out yet. "Yes... It's me. What time is it, Kameko-san...?" |

She cringed at the boy's almost casual response. "It's 6 AM. I'm only here this early because it's my turn to set up the track today." Kira glanced over the writing again briefly before turning back to the boy, concern written on her face. "Kumori-san, are you okay? Did you do all this?" She had not and never would get used to her friends going insane, and she dearly hoped that wasn't the case here. The track star slowly and cautiously approached the boy. |

"Six in the morning..." Kumori mused, a small frown showing on his face. He had been out for that long? "Well, this certainly is my handwriting." He frowned at the wall again at a point where the Japanese broke off into what looked like Sanskrit. When he looked to the ground, he found Cyrillic. "I... wrote all of this." It seemed like he was speaking it in order to convince himself more than anything. "It was probably my Persona." |

Kira bit her lip. "That's... that's not a good thing. You need to see a therapist, or at least speak to someone about any problems you've been having." Digging through her book bag, she pulled out a water bottle and offered it to the boy. In truth, she was having a hard time not freaking out. Kumori had always struck her as one of the most stable persona users, even if he had been living in the ruins for a short time. It didn't speak well of her own odds. "I'm here for you, if you have something you need to get off your chest." She spoke with a firm and kind tone. "If you just want company, I can do that too. Whatever you want." |

"I fell asleep in the afternoon so this must have happened while I was sleeping. I haven't had any problems aside from today," Kumori frowned as he opened the closet. He picked out a mop and cleaning liquid, applying the latter liberally to the ground. He began to mop it up as he continued to think out loud. "What could all of this mean...? Is it a message of some sort...?" Kira's discomfort was not lost on Kumori. He tried to smile reassuringly. Tiredly. "I don't think that it's a problem with my Persona as much as a miscommunication. A language barrier, maybe." |

"Language barrier?" The track star raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know a persona could speak an entirely different language from their user. They're supposed to represent our masks and what goes on beneath them, after all." Almost mechanically, Kira placed the water bottle under her arm and moved towards the closet, looking for something she could use to help the other teen clean. "You really shouldn't be pushing yourself to wash all that up right now. It sounds like you've been out for a while, and since you threw up at some point during you've gotta be dehydrated to hell." She carefully procured a mop. It was becoming clear that she wasn't the least bit reassured by Kumori's tired smile. "I still insist you check in with a therapist or somebody who can help; there has to be something wrong here if this happened." Kira gestured to the writing surrounding them. Feeling a sudden bolt of curiosity, the brunette leaned in and tried to examine more of the text. |

"Thank you for your concern," he said quietly as he continued to mop. She was right. His mouth was dry and he could tell that he would need to drink sometime soon. But he would hold that off until later. After living in the ruins, a day's dehydration was nothing. He frowned for a bit. "It's strange... This is what happened when I finally got onto the same wavelength as my Persona. I was trying to make it manifest..." |

Kira paused, trying to wrap her mind around his explanation. "Wavelength? You were trying to think like your persona?" She tilted her head. "Are you saying that you haven't been able to summon it normally, or...?" As she asked, the brunette set to work helping the sleepy boy. If he wasn't going to drink until he finished, she was going to speed up the process. "Kumori-san, I'm starting to worry about you- you spent so long living in the ruins, and now all this?" She tried to look him in the eye. "If you need a safe place to stay, there's the apartment for persona users, or even my place with me and Manabu if you don't mind the couch." Kira would have offered her own apartment first, but there were only two rooms and both were in use. Granted, a living room was better than the ruins by a long shot, it would just be a bit claustrophobic. |
