The gym had chairs and tables arranged all over the floor, with a few banners on the wall. Charles and the others in the cooking club had decided to setup a fundraiser, as some of the members were complaining about missing knives and other things, along with many of the dinner trays being dented.

"Yo, come on there, Haso-kun. We gotta get things set up, this shit's starting soon."
said Charles to another boy. "And get someone to watch the door, aight?"

"Y-yeah, okay."

Charles was setting utensils on the table, as the others were cooking and baking. He wondered who would show up, as he knew everyone loved cheap food. Hopefully.

Naoya didn't look around, focusing on the act of compressing the bean paste around the ball of rice. He'd gotten relatively good at making botamochi, but that didn't make up for the fact that he'd failed to show up to many of the club events, lately.

"I c'n do it," he said, responding to Charlie's instruction, "just, y'know, let me finish one more rice ball, first, make it an even baker's dozen, 'n I can handle it."

He turned away from his work, fearing that he was going to sneeze, but it didn't come. Must be more ashes in his sinuses.

He rolled another in the azuki bean paste and packed it, forming a reddish ball of edible material, then wiped his hands.

"Chiaki-san?" he said, looking over at another student, a recent addition, "y'mind takin' over? Real easy. Just make a, uh, y'know, a rice ball, roll it in th' paste, pack it, and set it over, uh, set it aside."

"Alright, Naoya. Take over setting the tables, I'll go see if I can get someone to take the door." said Charles, leaving the container full of napkin-wrapped utensils on the table. He stepped out, wandering through the hallways. There seemed to be a sizeable crowd, at least. He weaved through the crowd, occasionally hopping around people on one foot. As he planted both feet on the ground, he stopped right in front of a middle schooler boy holding the hand of an equally middle school-ish girl.

"Ah! Tako-kun! What's up? You here for the food?" asked Charles, grinning like a madman.

"Yeah! Me and Anika-chan wanted see how well you cooked and all that." said the boy, nodding excitedly.

"Anika-chan? Is this the girl you've telling me about?" queried the boy, grabbing his chin. "Good choice."

The girl turned red.

"O-Oliviera-kun!"

"I'm joking, Tako-kun." said the chef, stepping away.

He did a one eighty right in spot, pointing into the air as a lightbulb lit up.

"Wait, can I ask you a favor? I'll let you get as much as you can eat for free." offered Charles, as opened his arms in a matching gesture.

"What is it, Oliviera-kun?" asked the younger boy.

"Could you maybe watch the front table for me, and take care of the money? After sitting down the young lady, of course."

"Sure!"

Charles nodded ran back into the kitchen. It was pretty neat how the kitchen and the gym were so close together. He ran in and helped with some of the cooking, then ran back out to Naoya.

"How's it goin' so far?"

Naoya set to work, putting up tables for the other students to eat at, methodically snapping the legs into position and rotating them around to get the next one. This probably should have been done a while ago, but it seemed that most of the cooking club's senior members had vanished. They'd lost quite a few when that Yaguruma girl died, though that had been before he'd gotten too involved; he didn't really know what that whole situation was about.

He worked at a fair clip, humming to himself as he worked. Charlie came back around the time he had gotten the third table up, having fallen into a rhythm that worked so long as no one was standing close and his concentration wasn't broken, though perhaps it was a little risky to let the tables get into free-fall for any period of time.

Naoya gave him a "thumbs up" sign.

"Do, uh, do we need to set them, or anything?" he asked, "where's th'...where're forks 'n knives 'n such?"

"Forks and all that crap are in that plastic thing on that table there." pointed Charles, to a nearby table. "I'm gonna head to the kitchen, and get some jugs of water."

Naoya nodded, and began to set the tables. It was impressive how they had managed to get the whole gym, though it might have something to do with the nice weather: it was easy to reserve the gym when the physical education classes were moved outside.

He set all of the tables, and unfolded a number of chairs to provide seating. There weren't many customers, yet. The boy glanced around, and returned to the kitchen, intending to go back to cooking.

The general quiet, broken only by quiet muttering, the sounds of cooking, and a few happy customers munching on their purchases, was promptly shattered by the gymnasium doors slamming open and a woman wearing a disheveled chef's outfit rushing in.

The adult looked vastly more frazzled than she normally did, her often bleary or sharp eyes almost watery as she bowed deeply to the cooking club members in apologies. "I-I'm sorry I'm late! I was on- I was working my other job and only just got off my shift." She lowered herself further, head practically touching the ground before she straightened.

Charmaine was biting her lip gently, more alert than normal but without the sharp glint in her eyes that often accompanied the focus. "How can I help right now?"

Charles was just about to walk back to the kitchen when Charmaine busted in.

"Ah! Charmaine-san! There you are! I was wondering where our fair-skinned beauty of the cooking club was at. I need a bit of help getting some water for the tables, in case anyone decides to eat in. And maybe someone to go ask what they need for the stalls outside." instructed Charles. The idea to put both a vendor outside and a eat-in sorta thing inside was genius.

Naoya waved when Charmaine appeared, but didn't say anything, He set the tables as best he could, creasing the square napkins into long triangles, and putting the plastic utensils on the paper.

He began to wonder if and when more customers would arrive.

The gymnasium doors creaked open and Yuuto shuffled in, looking rather disheveled. His hair was frizzled and stuck up like prickles, and he kept rubbing at his eyes. He had forgotten his tie, and his blazer was all crumpled.

Despite this, when he saw the rest of the cooking club, he flashed his best smile. Sadly, all it did was make him look even more exhausted.

"Sorry I'm late," Yuuto said. "Couldn't sleep last night. Woke up a bit later than I was supposed to." He clapped his hands over his mouth to stifle a yawn. "What d'you want me to do?"
