The chased obese man broke off from the crowd, opting to use the registers as platforms to escape. He jumped platform to platform, in a manner so nimble that many people in the crowd, including Charles, were jealous of his agility. As the man reached the last register near the entrance, he did a butterfly kick from the register, and landed, sprinting out of the store, banana and potato chips in hand.

Charles looked over to Naoya. "Well, whatever his problem is, he really gave us a good show. Oh shit, here he comes."

"YOU! YOU MADE ME THINK HE WAS THE ONE WHO DESTROYED THE STORE! I MUST PUUUURRRRGE YOOOUUU FOR YOUR FILTHY INSOLENCE!" yelled the janitor, wheeling full speed at Charles. As the janitor continued without pause, Charles looked behind him. The cart corral. One side empty of carts. Small railing at the very end. Hell yeah.

"The plan is to dodge, Naoya."

He grabbed Naoya with one arm around the waist, using a Dash to get completely clear of the old janitor's movement path. The janitor's face took on a look of horror, as he missed the boy's completely, crashing into the low railing that usually housed the carts. He went soaring over the next row of carts, crashing into a tank full of live crabs, which were clamping onto his face, as he pulled himself out.

"WWWWHHHHYYYY! ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS PROTECT MY STORE'S CLEANLINESS!" screamed the janitor, pulling the crabs from his face.

Suddenly the world was moving. Or rather, Naoya was.

He used the moment to cast a sukukaja so that he could easily keep up with the other boy. Days and days of subjective time -- more like hours, outside -- had taught him how to interact with the world while under the effects of compressed time.

"Hrrmn," Naoya smirked when he saw the overzealous janitor slam into the crab tank, spilling shellfish everywhere, a number of which clamped on to him.

"Did...hm...did that guy st...just, uh, steal those chips?" he asked.

Then the janitor was upon them, a crab-bearded mop-wielding horror, jabbing at them viciously. Naoya gave Charles a light shove moving out of the way.

"Hey, what...uh...what's th' problem, guy? Are y' mad or something?"

Charles shrugged. "Yep. Sammo just stole some chips. Now let's try to dodge angry janitor here."

He broke away from Naoya, calling out at the janitor with another Balzac. "Hey! Old timer! Over heeerrre!" yelled Charles, running towards the produce. The janitor kept on his trail, still wheeling on his cart, as he threw crabs towards Charles.

Naoya took a moment to reflect on how strange this situation was, watching as Charlie capered around the produce section, chased by a janitor riding a hand cart.

Then, he had a thought.

Still accelerated by Sukukaja, he ran over to Charlie, weaving through the crowd and easily outstripping the janitor. He reached into the bag, and handed charlie a banana.

"You'll...hrmp...you'll need this," he said, casting sukukaja on his friend. He then disappeared into an aisle, "I'll be, uh, be returnin' soon."

As Charles sprinted through the produce section, he weaved out of the way of an elderly woman. He dodge a few projectile crabs, and continued sprinting. As he jumped over the head of a small toddler, Naoya sprinted up behind him, and handed him a banana.

He broke off, and ran down a different aisle. Charles, feeling the monkey inside him act up, bit the bottom of the banana. He peeled it quickly, and dropped the peel on the ground. As the cart rolled over it, Charles sent off a brief Garu, throwing both the cart and janitor up in the air, causing the both of them to fall into a display full of durians.

Charles couldn't help but laugh at the man, as the durians burst open, not only poking into the old janitor's face, but also covering him in the pungent smell of the fruits.

Productive day, I'd say, Charles.

"You're damn right about that, Wukong."

Naoya appeared at the end of the aisle holding a small plastic bucket he had recovered from the housewares aisle. He slid forward with the sukukaja draining out of him, and stuck out his arms, putting the bucket on the Janitor's head as the overzealous sanitation worker flew through the air.

He shot Charlie a thumbs up, and then dodged around the corner, going to pick up his groceries from where he stashed them.

You know, as much as I hate to say this, I think that's enough mayhem for the day. I think everyone's had their days brightened up a bit, right?

Charles looked around. A man was smiling, and laughing at the janitor, drumming on the bucket on his head. A woman was smashing durians over the bucket, waving the collected crowd to join in with durian smashing.

"I agree, Wukong. Let's head back over to where Naoya is."

Charles walked away from the ensuing durian chaos, picking his bags up from around the shopping carts, as he walked back to Naoya.

"Well, my partner in crime. We good to go now?" asked Charles, grinning a fulfilled grin.

Naoya nodded. He watched the chaos, head cocked slightly to the side. He had no idea that this degree of madness could happen on a given day.

Maybe it was a full moon?

"I, uh, I think we're all good. Got any dinner plans? Goin' t' go an' fr...cook some up right now. Dinner, not the plans f'r dinner. Y'r welcome t' join."

"Yeah, man. I got no plans tonight. I could go for dinner at your place." said Charles. The two then moonwalked out of the store together, as the store had burst into chaos. Thankfully, all that would be required would be a heavy cleanup, as opposed to the full renovation like before. The smell of durians was starting to leak out the doors of the supermarket, as the automatic doors slid open.

"You've just been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal!"

The heavy bassline of Charles' mp3 player ushered the boys out, as they contined their day, splitting off as they went to each of their individual homes.
