Just like in my other topic, i tried to play Unreal Tournament 3 in splitscreen. And just as in the other topic, I still don't have a Xbox360 controller. So, I editted the files of the game. I started the game. I started a offline game and was able to create the other players. So I had a 4 player-game. But I can't test it, but I guess it works but my only tought/question is: if you plug in a Xbox360 controller and create player 1 (so you have 2 players), what player does that Xbox360 controller, controls? I mean, controls it even player 1, just like your keyboard and mouse already do? Because if that is true, that means I've to buy 2 Xbox360 controllers before I can play with 2 persons. But I saw too that you can swap the controls of player 1 to control an other screen, but is that only for the mouse and keyboard of player 1? Or is that too for the Xbox360 controller (if that's controlling player 1 (that's my first question in this topic)? |

As far as I know a few different types of controllers work, but your one doesn't seem to be one of them. Yes you will need to buy 2 Xbox controllers to player with 2 players, unless you follow the instructions below. And there is no way to do that swap thing, I've tried. I did however find out something very interesting with the Xbox controller. When you plug in the controller the 'number 1' lights up. Well, if you disconnect and reconnect the controller really really quickly then 'number 2' lights up. This makes that controller control screen 2 which allows you to play 2 player with 1 Xbox controller. |

Thanks for help. But... That methode of connecting and disconnecting the controller, when do you must do that? By starting the game? By starting the offline game? Edited by Jessonei, Mar 3 2009, 04:40 PM.

You do that method whenever you want to, but it only works with the xbox controller. Edited by pcsplitscreen, Mar 3 2009, 10:19 PM.

Today I tried it out and it didn't work for me! I had a Xbox360 controller. I connected it to the computer. I started up the game -> instant action. The Xbox360 controller did nothing. The mouse and keyboard controlled player 1. Than I created player 2. The Xbox360 controller didn't control player 2. Then I reinput the control very fast, it was set to player 2 (by the light on the controller). But still nothing happened if I pressed buttons on the Xbox360 controller. I restarted the game but it didn't work again! Why?! |

It should work, make sure you have installed the Xbox360 controller drivers. And make sure you have done everything this guide says http://pcsplitscreen.freehostia.com/Unreal.htm |

What Xbox360 drivers? But the controller worked because I tested with an other game. I've done the guide correctly. I changed the 2 files. And I'm able to set up splitscreen. But the Xbox360 controller just didn't work. What to do? |
