So, isn't this terrifying? I'm terrified too.
I'm currently making 'plans' for the major characters. But while I'm working on that, here are the major characters:

Spoiler-Free Version

Shed
Ethan
Seth
Pengus
Diggeh
Zephyr
Treseika
Cinna
Ilex
Death

BIG SPOILER Version
Spoiler: click to toggle

Does anyone have ideas for the minor characters and how to incorporate more members, or plans on how you want to be portrayed in the context of the story? Post here please!

To incorporate more members, I would simply suggest naming the minor characters after some of the members.

As for character development, I'm assuming you will base the character personalities on our own. If so, you might want to devise a form that includes all the important aspects of personality you might want to touch on for each character, plus general information.
In my Creative Writing class, we were suggested to have the following for every character:
[Name] is a(n) [adjective] [age]-year-old [noun] who wants [something].
Example: Shed is a collected 19-year-old university student who wants to play in the snow.
Of course, the "want" should be a driving trait of the character. This Shed person above maybe would do anything to frolic in the snow, which causes him to flee his family's Christmas party to spend the rest of winter break in New York, and that ends up being a key point of the story. (Not really, but you get my point.)

I'm using a similar method, called a 'character diamond'. You can find it here:

I'm up to Zeph (skipping Death for spoiler purposes, might do his later), so like 2 more to go. :3

Okay, so I finished everything except Zeph's Shadow. If anything's wrong with this (remember I don't know you all intimately and this is a story context) than tell me.

Shed Nukenin
Spine: A nature-loving prince.
Supporting: He believes that his father's kingdom is a utopia and should not be destroyed.
Fatal Flaw: His trusting nature. Shed often seems to be naive, but he really just overthinks things and confuses himself, and his mind decides to take the easiest way out.
Shadow: His 'I can do better' attitude. He takes this attitude about a lot of things, from the kingdom to other people's actions.

Ethan Pyre
Spine: A charismatic engineer.
Supporting: He's actually quite creative with his machine designs and actions.
Fatal Flaw: His terrible temper. He gets mad at... pretty much anything one could get mad about, and holds long grudges.
Shadow: His wish that everything will turn out alright in the end, whatever he does himself.

Treseika Yasude
Spine: A creative surgeon.
Supporting: In her spare time, she draws.
Fatal Flaw: She has a terrible jealousy problem. If she can't be the best at anything, she hates the person who is.
Shadow: After her father and her best friend left her, she just wants someone to be able to care about.

Seth Zachariah
Spine: A sarcastic homeless person.
Supporting: He loves to pick on people who bother him.
Fatal Flaw: His hatred of weakness. He despises anyone who lets their emotions get the better of them.
Shadow: He wants to be able to show his caring side once in a while.

Diggeh McBoingBoing (Nobody's sure if that's his real name...)
Spine: A fun-loving barista at the local coffeehouse.
Supporting: Extremely funny and witty.
Fatal Flaw: He's... TOO happy. He can often have trouble being serious.
Shadow: He wants to someday be part of something more important than handing out hot beverages.

Cinnatrim Lawrence
Spine: A pessimistic writer.
Supporting: She's rather shy.
Fatal Flaw: Her low sense of self-worth. She believes she's worth nothing.
Shadow: Although on the outside it seems she has accepted that in her own mind she's a failure, she just want someone to tell her otherwise.

Zephyr Pluriussu
Spine: An artistic artist XDDD
Supporting: Sense of respect for fellow artists.
Fatal Flaw: She doesn't push for her own needs enough.
Shadow: Secretly longs for fame.

Pengus Ningunep
Spine: A kind marine biologist.
Supporting: Loves music.
Fatal Flaw: Afraid of change.
Shadow: He wants to see the world become a better place, but hides it because of his doubts.

Ilex Oddison
Spine: A serious gardener.
Supporting: Works for the King and loves his work.
Fatal Flaw: He often takes his sense of order too far.
Shadow: Sometimes he just wants to let someone else do his job...

That's pretty good for my character! Other than the utopia part, things seem to fit in pretty well.

It seems to me that Cinnatrim, Zephyr and Pengus need to be better developed, though. Especially Zephyr, of course.

The kingdom is kinda like the world you always imagine before the end of the world starts.
As far as the underdeveloped characters... I think Cinna is fine, but yeah, Zeph's and Pengus's shadows could use some work.

Made you look
My shadow would probably have to be that I secretly long for fame. (which is quite true.) Incorporate me into the story in whatever way you choose. :3 I could be a roving painter, although somehow I doubt the Octagon gets too many tourists...

As for the rest (so that I don't seem so self-centered): Do they have oceans for Marine biologists to study? xD Otherwise, can totally see Pengus being, like, a pet shop owner selling people fish (and Penguins!). But again, it's all up to you.

Other influential members that you might also consider including, regardless of their being dead or not: Silf, Quate, 3D, Snirpy, Shira, Zark, Spooky, Xia, Kal, Moofzz... You've got a lot of choices here. xD They can be random side-characters, or love interests, or whatever you want..

Least Influential Non-Newbie in PMF History, Woot!
Can I be included as a character, however minor? I know I'll probably be the type to appear in two or so sentences of a flashback (least influential non-newbie, woot!) but still:

Ebony Lister
Spine: A bizarre ninja
Supporting: She's generally quite outgoing and friendly
Fatal Flaw: Her refusal to take sides in any conflict leaves a lot of people angered at her
Shadow: She's tired of traveling from place to place and wants to settle down, make some more permanent friends.

Attempting to revive. Cause I need help. >_>

Twitch: Okay, added. Also, I'll probably just include most of the other members as names tossed around, but...
And, yes on the oceans... the Octogon is an island. XD

EE: Okay, I might make a minor character post later.

help with what in particular? :3 maybe you could write out more in-depth personalities, add some quirks, speech patterns, etc.?
as for how to incorporate more members... broaden things- go with several different alternating angles. it also takes the stress of of everything going in one section so you can go between some various perspectives.

Shed: just ideas on how to get me started. I have several pretty awesome 'movie trailer' scenes planned in my head, but...
Oh, yeah, character appearences. Anyone have any ideas how they want to look? (Horsemen get different costumes for their horsemen parts than their normal parts)

...horsemen?
i seriously need to read this. XD

edit: oh wait, i saw the spoiler. perhaps have them in black with brightly colored embroidery pattern, each in a different color and a similar, but not identical, design based on which horseman they are?

well, if it's a specific time period-esque, you can google information on the fashions of that time, or if it's futuristic make some up.

start in the middle of a scene. that works best for me. i can't 'begin' i have to have action there, bam, first thing. it also throws you right into the text.

Are you going for a modern fashion, medieval robes, or something else?

I'm assuming you're going for robes. Shed should have long dark hair tied back, glasses and a short goatee. Average height, thin (or average, if you prefer). If he's a nature-loving prince, his robes would probably be either green on brown in base color, with golden and/or scarlet embroidery.

... reading diggeh's thing about hot drinks made me have a random craving for hot cocoa. o.o
/tangent

ok, something constructive....
perhaps something of this kid of thing could be reflected in their choice of steed, and weapon, maybe speech patterns, how they carry themselves, etc.
in addition to clothing, i mean.

Shed: Nope, modern clothes. The 'kingdom' is rather modern, and is run more like a direct democracy (the octogon doesn't have too many people, at least compared to modern countries)... it's just a kingdom because it's run by a family.
