Well I installed the Brakeaway Throttle Lock on my 650 today. I must say it goes easier the second time around. This time only I only needed about 30 minutes.
And it fits perfectly on the 650 out of the box. No need for a spacer.
First photo shows it right out of the box.
Posted ImageNext step is to remove the four small phillips screws and pull off the outer ring. Ring shown beside the main.
Posted ImageIt comes with a choice of three thickness of rubber strips. I used the thickest strip for the Hyosung grips.
Posted ImageBefore you insert the strip into the main cyclinder, you must use one of the provided allen wrenches to loosen the four allen screws that are inset in the outer ring. You just need to get them flush so the strip fits into the ring. Ensure that the ends of the strip meet properly, if not turn the strip over.
Posted ImageOnce in place, slide the main over the grip. With the thick strip, it's a tight fit, just wiggle it back and forth and slide till it rests up against the end of the throttle. Should snug right up there and not tough the switches.
Posted ImageNow take the small allen wrench and tighten the allen screws down till they are flush. That locks the rubber strip against the throttle. You'll notice that the other parts rotate without any resistance.
Posted ImageNow replace the outer ring and the four phillips screws.
Posted ImageNext comes the alignment of the swing arm and brake release lever. You need to use the large allen wrench and loosen the joint so that the arm make the 90 degree turn to mount under the brake lever nut.
Posted ImageBefore you start tightening all the connections, you must position the black plastic tit so that it will just touch the brake lever when the throttle lock is activated. Then tighten it from the bottom. Next, tighten the brake lever nut, then position the L-bracket (mine was all the way to the top) and tighten that nut. Then you'll need to tighten the other two joints. Alignment is key for the lock and the release to work properly.
Posted ImageLooks great, doesn't stand out, once it's installed. Works great too. I tested it and was able to activate it and adjust my right mirror on the fly!!!
