Today was the first day riding my Hyosung I DID NOT have my right hand hurting/tingling when I got home.

Gary said the instructions were pretty clear just angle connections thingies to get adjusted all together. He's already ordered one for him! :P

It's nice and solid, looks good, kinda unobtrusive actually. It's as easy to use as the one on my old Suzuki. I think Gary will post about installing. I'm happy to be just a user!

As Jo said, the instructions were fairly straightforward. The device took a little over an hour to install and get adjusted.

It is very well made, machined parts are precise and lock is very positive. It came with 3 sizes of rubber strips to snug it up against the throttle. The control rings slide over the Hyo grip using the thick rubber strip. It is a very good fit so you have to wiggle it a bit back and forth to get it on fully.

The only difficulty is getting proper alignment of the connecting arm between the throttle lock ring and the brake lever bolt which secures it in place. As you can see from the picture, this arm makes a 90 degree turn. On the arm is the black plastic nipple that Jo referred to in her post. It is not the the part that holds the throttle in place but it's the button that when the brake lever is pulled, it releases the throttle lock. I had some time aligning the four different parts to get that black piece just in the right place at the correct angle to work when the brake is tapped.

Of course, as Jo said the thumb release up front is very easy to use and releases the throttle with just a tiny tap.

The Left ring fits over the edge of the throttle and there is a second ring with the rubber strip that when you depress the bottom of the throttle lock freezes the throttle in place till you either touch the release or tap the brake.

All in all, I'm very impressed with it. It's expensive compared to everything else on the market but well made, professional looking, works as advertised, fits the Hyos perfectly and a great relief for those with the occasional need to take your hand off the throttle for short periods of time. On sale at cruisercustomizing.com for $189.95 with free shipping. It's from Brakeaway Products.

After today's success, I ordered one for my GV650.

I could scan the instructions in if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Remember it is a Throttle Lock NOT a cruise control device.

Well I installed the Brakeaway Throttle Lock on my 650 today. I must say it goes easier the second time around. This time only I only needed about 30 minutes.

And it fits perfectly on the 650 out of the box. No need for a spacer.

Hey Lads,

About that throttle lock, (nice peice of gear I reckon)
can I have a model number of the one you used on the GV650 please?
Also, are these legal in AU? I have a strange feeling they aren't. I hope im wrong. I'm too old to continue breaking the law.

Hi Sarge, I bought and fitted a throttle lock for my GV650 about twelve months ago from my local dealer. I have been pulled up for a vehicle inspection once since then and it posed no problem. Thats not to say it,s legal but plenty of bikes up this way have them on. Great when riding long distances for that occasional hand relaxation and stretch.
There were two sizes in them so you just need to know your throttle diameter.

Just found my receipt for the throttle lock it was a Universal Vista Cruise Control

:PICS?: PIX PLEASE!!! :PICS?: Is that the black plactic one? Gary considered that as well *see very 1st post on the 1st page of this thread* but since his bike is blue wanted to go chrome/silverish. I really the sleek look of the Brakeaway, it's very unobtrusive and engages/disengages instantly & smoothly. It did cost more though, I think whatever works for you is good. I don't want a bike w/o one! :heartthrob:

PICS as requested.
