New Danish Motorcycle debuts Posted Image This reception at the Horsens Museum of Art revealed the first specimens of the Lauge Jensen motorcycle On Monday of last week, Jan Trøjborg the mayor of Horsens Denmark, pulled the covers at Horsens Museum of Art and revealed the first specimens of the first type-approved motorcycle produced in Denmark since Nimbus. It was the result of several years of development work creating a custom built, modern motorcycle that was not only motorcycle manufacturer Uffe Lauge Jensen’s dream of how a motorcycle should look but that also met the demands of international authorities regarding such a bike. It was therefore not only a matter of building the ultimate motorcycle but perhaps much more a matter of familiarizing with the international statutory requirements of such a bike and then meet these requirements. The problem was not made easier by the fact that this took place in a country where the term motorcycle manufacturer is not present in national legislations, and where tax regulations and the like only operate with terms such as importers and dealers. Even though the Danish authorities at first declared it an impossibility Uffe Lauge Jensen succeeded with a great deal of stubbornness and skill in requiring the internationally approved status of motorcycle manufacturer and despite outspoken skepticism from all experts and authorities he has also as the first European in many years succeeded in getting type endorsement for a completely new motorcycle. And that is after the new strict Euro 3 norms that even large reputable companies are currently struggling to meet. The endorsements have been acquired at one of the public authorities in Europe with the most experience in the field: the German Bundesamt. The tests and the control have been made through the German testing institute TÜV. When the endorsements have been acquired there they are more or less automatically approved in the USA and the rest of the world. The motoring system that has been developed by Uffe Lauge Jensen in collaboration with individual suppliers of parts is possibly the only built-in system that has obtained this Euro 3 endorsement. For the time being the hand built motorcycles are being created in a small workshop in Gedved near Horsens. Posted Image More :TAKEAPIC: in SLIDESHOW |
