Kuba Motor - Turkish Motorcycle Manufacturer - KTM?

No, it's not a spelling mistake; Kuba with a capital "K". While doing some research for an article, I stumbled upon these guys. I never had heard of them, but there you are.

Kuba Motor is a Turkish motorcycle manufacturer, making and selling motorcycles mainly in the Turkish market. They make 100 to 150cc motorcycles (plus scooters and ATVs). Though they look like Asian knock-offs, according to their commercial blurb, they do add local content. In 2007, they sold some 13,500 units, so not bad.

INTERESTING FACT: Now the interesting thing comes when you visit their website. First, for a Turkish market manufacturer, they have everything translated in English (though probably using Google translator, so some strange results). But more importantly, the layout!!!! The layout is that of the KTM website. They use the same technology, style and leave out the "T" of KTM and you have their initials. The bottom panel is that of KTM, but in red instead of orange. Same navigator/menus.

A further look at their corporate data, and there's no mention of any ownership.. Having plowed through KTM's annual report, there no mention either. Strange. Either there's some tie-up, or they just ripped KTM's site. Have a look at their site, you'll see what I mean. Click here to access it .

Here's their biggest motorcycle, the KB150-7B. A 4-stroke 150 cc engine developing a top speed of 125 kph. The motorcycle even has an EURO-3 compliant exhaust system.

The bike reminds me of another one... hmmmm... but which Asian one... want to guess..

Here's a TV commercial for their bikes
