German Helmets are patterned after the helmets worn in WWII by the Germans. These basically are made to copy the German Army helmets worn in battle. They look pretty much the same today as they did then. These German Helmets are still used today. They used to be just for novelty use and not safety rated but this is changing today. Now there are some models that are DOT rated. This is great because they are now safe to wear on the open road. There are many types of helmets available for riders today. But some are big and bulky and cover the whole head and face. Many purists of the sport do not like to cover their head quite that much. They like to have some freedom of movement. Of course, it depends on what you use your motorbike for too. If you are doing motocross, you will need a different helmet with more coverage. But if you are just taking leisurely rides the German Helmets may just do the trick for you. Just be sure you get one of the models that is DOT rated. If you are riding across country and not sure what road conditions you will find, you may need a full-face model. But if you know the territory well the German Helmets will be just fine for protecting your head. It is basically up to you which of the models of helmets you choose to wear for safety. As always, make sure they are rated properly. You can wear goggles with these helmets since they do not have the shields for the face. This may be a wise thing to do. The goggles will keep dirt, bugs, and debris from getting in your eyes. And it is important to protect your eyes. The German Helmets come in various kinds such as the carbon fiber that is so strong and long lasting. These sometimes come covered with a layer of leather. This gives a less shiny appearance. The glossy black ones can be sharp looking though and are very popular. These helmets also can have flames painted on them. There are many colors offered in these helmets too. The ladies can find feminine colors such as pink ones. If you like to shine when you go down the road you may like the chrome ones. Of course, these have a strap for the chin also. So buy a helmet that has a history behind it. The style of the German Helmets have been around for many years. These are still worn by many motorbike enthusiasts. So choose which one will suit your needs. It is important to always wear your helmet when riding a motorbike. You don't want to suffer a head injury in case of a fall. Make sure it is DOT rated whether you are choosing one of the German Helmets or another style. Now go enjoy your ride on the open road and be safe, wear your helmet. Have no urge to wear a 'german helmet' which I is a copy of a WWII Nazi helmet. Though I could see some local HD riders with them as they have worn the novelty ones.... Posted Image http://www.MotorbikeHelmetsCentral.com |
