I bought one of these on eBay a while back, and I figured I'd review it to kick off the new written review section. Alternate Mode: Optimus Prime comes to use as a futuristic firetruck, much like his Cybertron and R.I.D. self. The fire truck mode as a whole looks very nice however, it is very small for a voyager size class. He is longer by about 1cm. However his height also is unusual for a voyager class, without the water cannon, deluxe cybertron mode Optimus Prime is taller, the earth mode Optimus is definetly wider than his cybertron mode counter part. Now the features for the truck mode are pretty bland, the one advertised feature is a rotating water cannon which is located on the rear "trailer", which can be removed and flipped upside down to reveal a cavity for water. Now you ca put the water blaster in some water, pump it, and then remove it from the water and place back in the cavity of the "trailer". You then have a water cannon that can rotate 360 degrees. Overall:7/10 Transformation: 1. To transform him, remove the water cannon and set that aside. 2. Then remove the trailer, and fold out the edges which have the windows and finally fold out the piece facing downward. 3. On the front of the vehicle there is a grey bumper. Break the bumper in half and fold the wheels to the back. 4. The most interesting part of the transformation is the way to bring down the legs. To do this there is a small black tab in rear cab section. Lift the figure off the ground and move your hands out of the way and press down on the black tab. The legs should come spinning down and into place. 5. After the automorph you make sure his legs are facing the correct direction and snap the upper torso to the waist section. 6. Pull down the blue section of the legs while holding on to the upper cab. 7. Flip up the feet. 8. Split the legs apart. 9. Turn him around and grab the tires on his ankles and rotated them around 180 degrees so they are on the other side of his ankles. 10. Take the grey bumper pieces and fold them onto the side of the leg. In doing this, the wheels attached to the bumpers will go onto his ankle. 11. Fold the very front of the bumper so the yellow on the end of it is parallel to the back side of the leg. 12. Attach the front part of the bumper to the rear of the leg. 13. Stand him flat-footed. 14. Just under the yellow headlights there are two black pieces, open them outwards. 15. Pull out the arms, that are the side of the truck so that the blue forearms are facing outwards. 16. Fold out the hands and lock them to the black tabs. 17. Flip up the emergency lights. 18. Pull the arms out of their locked position. 19. Flip up the head. 20. Push the emergensy lights inward so they attach to his back and fold them down. Robot Mode: The robot mode is very nice, he is a good height when compared with the other autobots (besides voyager bulkhead). He has two weapons, the faux trailer and the water pistol which can be placed in his fists. They can also be combined by putting the water pistol in the grove that held it in place in vehicle mode with the barrel facing downward. Fold down the red piece on the top of the trailer and flip up the headlights on the top of the figure and place the groove into the open cavity, and prime as a winged jetpack. Another feature with this figure is the faceplate, there is a small blue switch on the back of primes neck. It can be flipped up or down giving prime either a face-plate or lips. Overall: 9/10 Articulation: Head: 360 degree rotation Shoulders: in and out, 360 degree rotation, shrugging motion. Elbows: up, down, backwards, 360 degree rotation Hands: none Waist: 360 rotation Legs: In and out, forward and backward. knees: bending forward or backward, rotating 360 degrees feet: up and down. Reccomended: Slag yes, a very nice figure, with lots of articulation and cool gimmicks. Overall Score: 8.5/10 |
