The main question of this topic is, how well does your favorite band play live? I've always believed what really makes a band great or not is how well they can play live, as opposed to in a studio. Thinking about that gave me the idea for this topic. List your favorite band, talk about how well they play live, then give links to some of their live performances if you are able. =D I'll start. My favorite band is Dream Theater, and they play amazingly well live. Many DT [Dream Theater] fans can agree that they play better live than they do in the studio. They'll make just about every one of the songs they play superior to the album version in some shape or form when they play live. Here is a few examples of how they play live: Hollow Years (Live, 2004) Cover my Eyes (Live, 1998) The Dance of Eternity/One Last Time (Live, 2000) |

of course we all know the one band who dissapoints live: Dragonforce. Last year, they came to the LC Pavilion and played about 1/2 as good as they sound in the studio. of course some factors might be the cause of this such as the tiring task of playing on the road, and other things like energy levels and equpiment and tunings. MCR is the exact same way. Coheed is exactly like they sound on the CD. Van Halen too. |

No, Chan, Rain was just helping by pointing out the edit button. Also, just telling someone not to double post doesn't add anything to the discussion and makes the post just as useless as the double post, thus contradicting the whole idea. Such things should be done via private messaging. =D At least Hakiri stayed relevant to the thread. Anyways...I'm not too fond of Dragonforce, studio or live. I mean, sure they're fast, but that's about it in my opinion. I know some bands that can play as fast, but at the same time have a lot of depth to their music. Also, it's kind of hard for me to respect people who have to get drunk before playing. XD One more thing. I didn't want all of this off topic conversation on my thread. >.< Edited by Gig, May 23 2008, 04:15 PM.

I already put my two cents in about playing live. But that is at least the 2nd or 3rd time hikari D-Ped. You have to understand where I'm coming from. Anyway, back on topic. Two live bands STILL good to this day are The Police and Van Halen. I was privliged with 3rd row seating for both AND a backstage package for VH. Eddie hasn't lost his touch after all these years... And Sting's voice sounds just like it does on the record. Honestly, what the fuck (pardon my French) is the point of making yourself sound great using studio trickery when you suck balls live? |

why dont we chill out a bit? just drop it too many rules to follow lol. rain--i know there is an edit button, just forgot to use it, sorry oh ya--chan, its Hakiri not Hikari ya true, i mean every artist who is someone will perform live. they might as well just suck in the studio too. i hate bands that do that, you're all pumped up to see your favorite band and they end up sucking. luckily that hasnt happened to me yet. |
