 Post count just seems very meaningless in my opinion. It's an easy thing to get, and creates competitions such as this one that ultimately lead to spam. Here, let me offer a suggestion.

First off, take away the entire post count system. The very idea of a post count system in the first place is rather pretentious. Someone can easily post many two or three word posts, while others post seldom, but offer highly thought worthy ideas. Because the former of the two types of people I described have more posts, members automatically have more immediate respect towards that member. Thus, making the system flawed.

Now, I understand we still need a number system of some kind to represent posts. Here is how we solve this. Give each member of Otaku Forever the ability to decide for themselves whether or not a post is worthy to be considered a “good post”. Then, have a button to click underneath everybody’s post but your own, giving the option to add one to the other person’s post count.

I’m not sure if the idea is actually possible, but it might be a good idea to try out sometime.

Everyone going bonkers on this topic needs to chill.

It's friendly competition, not all-out war.
Some people do act ignorant over it, and they tend to get a stern talking to.
Otherwise, it's just a time to act goofy.

So everyone cool it, and if you're against the idea of this thread, go find another place to hover and spew opinions.
