Rules
Forum Rules: These rules and guidelines apply to every single forum within Otaku Forever. That does not, however, mean that only these rules apply to each forum; some forums on this board may contain extra rules. If this is the case, the seperate rules will be posted in the forum.
These rules will always apply, even if it is not stated in the forum you are in.

Rule One: No Flaming: This rule is pretty self-explanatory, but we will explain for the sake of explaining. You may not, at any time, "Bash" another member. This means: you may not insult a member, or a way a member acts, writes, talks, et cetera. Ever.

Do not try to insult, mock or flame other members. Keep your comments flame free. If you're teasing someone in a joking manner, make sure that it's obvious and not in any way offensive. If you are flamed, then contact a staff member and they will deal with it.

There are three levels of flaming:

Unintended (where you did not even mean to insult the other user);

Minor (where you insult the other user on the spur of the moment without thinking);

Major (where it's clear you are calmly trying to cause maximum distress to someone else).

All three are subject to discussion.

Rule Two: No Baiting: Baiting is when one member intends to anger another member, but without the use of flaming. In fact, this technique is often used to get the member being baited to flame the member doing the baiting, hence the name, "Baiting."

Remember: If you are being baited, never react with a flame. If you do, there's not much we can do for you, because you broke a rule, too. If you feel you are being baited, ask the member who is doing the baiting to please stop. If that fails, please contact a member of Staff who will then issue that member a warning.

One thing I have learned while fishing; it never works out so well for the bait. Or, in this case, the baiter.

Rule Three: No Drama: If you're having major problems with another member of the forum, an issue in your life, or anything of that nature, please, visit our counseling forum. If you advertise your problems to the world, everyone will feel that you are looking for sympathy, and it won't turn out so well for our friendly environment. So please, keep it off the board, unless you're in the counseling section, trying to get help.

Rule Four: No Harrasment: Harassing other members may well be considered a bait; other than that, it gets annoying. PMing a member multiple times, following them into threads to annoy them, and other such things will not, under any circumstances, be tolerated. If you are found in violation of this rule, warnings are bound to follow.

Rule Five: No Flooding: This can include bumping old, dead topics, or posting many new ones within a short amount of time. Just don't do it; we don't care if you're bored, angry, sad, or just don't have a life. Seeing your name as the last post in everything is annoying, and having to look through the dead topics for something newer is not acceptable.

This is the equivalent of spamming.

Also, make sure to put detail into your post. If you don't, your topic will hold no true point and may be considered spamming or flooding.

Rule Six: Keep images PG-13: Many kids do indeed visit this site. That being the case, images that are not suitable for kids (unless in the Adult Discussion area, where kids are not allowed [and the image pertains to the topic at hand]) are not to be tolerated. If you do post images of this sort on the board, you will be given strict warning, and possibly have your posts monitored.

Rule Seven: No Public Advertising: Use your signature to advertise. Please, unless linking to a thread on another site which shows your point in a certain topic, do not post links to things like "My favorite site," or "OMG! Pwnxorz!"

Wikipedia can be used as a reference for anything, such as: "I was reading about LED Computer Monitors, and wikipedia told me this," followed by the link that you posted.

And if you discovered a cool news article, or something else of that sort on the web, and would like to have a discussion about the story, you need to post the link to the original article you found.

Rule Eight: No "Trolling" or "Neo-Trolling": This often constitutes as trying to seek loopholes in the rules, usually in order to get around them, and more-likely-than-not cause trouble. This is not allowed, and if you try to tip-toe around the rules we have set here, you will get a severe punishment.

Rule Nine: No Hacking or Threats Thereof: This one practically explains itself - We do not joke about with security here, and if you act in a threatening manner such as this, you will be banned. No questions asked.

Rule Ten: Be Respectful to Staff: Staff are members, just like any other person on this board. But, we are here to help, and we try to keep things as user-friendly as possibly. Demeaning us, threatening us, or undermining us is not in the best interests of you or the Staff members here, in any way, shape, or form. Don't do it.

Punishments for Rule-Breaking: These are the possible punishments for breaking the rules. At least one of these will follow any violation of the rules you make, so try not to break the rules.

Post Moderation: This is when your post is modified to make it more appropriate for the forum(s) it is involved with. If, for example, you post R-rated images, they will be deleted out of your post, or the entire post may be deleted.

Post Monitoring: This is when we no longer trust you with posting all be yourself, so we read everything you want to post before it gets posted. And, often times, the Staff members have more important things to do, so it may take a long time for your post to be added. if you wish to avoid this, then the best course of action would be to minimize your spam, and keep your posts appropriate.

Week-Long Ban: This is when the Administrators feel you need a little time-out, and remove your posting capabilities for a week. You will not be able to visit the board during this period, and probably suffer Post Monitoring for a long period of time.

Month-Long Ban: At this point, it's obvious that your time-out had no effect, and you have reverted to your old ways. This time, you will be removed for one month, and suffer an even longer period of time on your posting moderation.

Permanent Ban: We've had enough of you. This is when you're banned/deleted from the board, and your username gets add to the disallow list.

During any period of time for a ban, we may IP ban you as well, to ensure you do not try to work around your time-out.

If you are caught trying to side-step your ban, you will move up on the ban-level, and your time will restart. If this happens, we will IP ban you, no questions asked.

You may create a new account after being permanently banned, but your warnings will increase twice as fast. Furthermore, you will automatically be placed on the list of people who need to have posts reviewed before they can be added to a discussion. And if you reach the permanent banning stage, you will definitely be IP banned.

If you have had two accounts banned, you will be IP banned, and added to the "Ban-on-Sight" list. This means, if you're banned twice, and make a new account, and we figure out it is you (which we will), you will be banned, right then and there, no questions asked. Your new IP will also be banned.

At any time you break a rule, we may edit your monetary amount. This is at the discretion of the Moderator of the section, based on the severity of the rule(s) you broke.

The rules might be changed at any time!
