That sounds like a neat idea. I'm a horrible fishermen and rarely get out so I likely won't even end up participating but I think its great when forums have these little friendly competitions/contests. A few of the sites I go to get prizes donated from board members. If there was anyone willing to make a small donation for the contest that is always a bonus incentive for the winner. Even if it's something small like a couple fishing lures or even a smaller valued gift certificate. Also I think there should be a category for not only the biggest fish, but also the smallest. :) |

I would be able to donate a couple custom spinner baits and probly a half dozen worm harnesses and the shipping to the winner.

I have this idea!....What if we use a format simular to that of "King of The Woods" where we declare a monthly winner in each species and after so many months we pitt the monthly winners against each other in a final showdown. You can only enter one fish a month in each species category but you can enter each month of the contest and in the end only your biggest entry in each of the species will count. We have to make it simple for people to participate,so I suggest we only require the length of the fish.A picture of the fish next to a tape measure would be all you need and therefore the longest fish in each category would be a winner(not the heaviest). The number of species that could participate could be huge unless the members decide to limit it to only the most popular. Tracksoup |

Some great ideas. We have time to think about this but i like the idea of just going by length. Make's it easier. I like the idea of having quite a few categories as I'm hoping this place is frequented by all types of fisherman. Thanks for the advice and opinions so far. Keep it coming! |

I think one of the suggestions from awhile ago,,was that we hold it in a Camground on a certain weekend. (Spring) It would work great and would give us time to get any red tape out of the way. I've looked into it already for Central Ontario Memebers,,but we'd have to have one ,for our Northern Members too on a different weekend maybe? The weekend before the Southern/Central?? We could reserve campsites but that's tricky..Vending permits I've called about already if that's the worst case for food. I've got ahold of a raffle spinner lottery machine for fair draws... and BBQ's too....LARGE ONES!! And we could make a banner and have donated prizes.. |

I like the idea of a fishing contest. I think maybe the picture with a tape measure beside it would be the easiest way to run the contest. Then maybe a meet and greet for northern contestants and winners and a southern/central. Just my opinion fish |

Definately! It is nice to meet others and a little friendly competition is fun. This will be worked on. Any members or staff interested in taking this on? I'll donate stuff. I have brand new tackle and maybe a gift certificate. We could have a special avatar made for the winners in each category. Any other ideas? |

I would keep this "Contest" simple, if someone or a few people want to organize a couple little tournys go a head, I would probly even throw one together around here For people interested in entering a ecomomical for fun and a small prize money tourny. But I like the idea of going fishing with friends and or family I f u catch a decent fish measure it with a picture of the measurement and enter it on the forum! Anyone on the forum can play whether u have a boat or not. |

The tape is a good idea, can I use a fishermans tape? As for going to both functions, maybe a shared ride would work for some of us, have a coffee somewhere first to check each other out, so no homicide charges are laid on the way to the contest. We need a for sure sign up list, to book anything. Figure out when can people go,when does the contest start, "only one entery per month"? how long will the contest run, most soft water opener's are april at the earliest then the end of May then mid June. So why not make it your best fish of that species by deadline set.

So how are we doing on this? Interested in getting something going in the Thunder Bay area. We have enough members. I checked out Bigcatchoutdoors website and they have a lot of products for sell including hunting products. How do you sign up for the new letter? |
