We went out today in the rain to lake X in the jon boat and my 4 year old son used his Lightning Mcqueen fishing rod picked out a neat creature bait out of his tackle tray, I rigged it weedless ona 3/0 wide gap hook and he did the rest! It was quite the battle I wasnt sure who was going to win at times or if he was going to lose his rod but the fish lossed the battle, and I got 1 very happy and proud son!!! After a couple pics the bass was released to fight another day!

That is great. I can imagine the fight he had on his cars fishing rod.
I asked my son if he wants to catch a big one like that on his, he replied, "no, just a little one." lol.

thanks for the kind words, Maybe I am just a proud dad but I have never heard of a 4 year old with the passion for fishing that Sid posesses, This kid knows more about bass tackle and fish identifacation than most adults, asks to go fishing daily, organizes his own tackle tray tubes, stick baits creature baits spinnerbaits, worms, grubs, I am amazed how easily he picks fishing ligo up and his excitement for the sport. He is truly a joy to spend time with on the water. He said something to me on the boat that day that made me laugh, I ussually hand him my fishing rod if I get 1 on so he can crank it in, so I get 1 on and go to hand him the rod and he says to me " Dad Im not reeling fish in for u anymore u have to learn to do it yourself"LOL :fishing1:

You dont know the half of it!!! Friday he comes home from jk and tells me "I want a fishing book" I said OK here is a bassmaster magazine. He gets frustrated and says" Not a magazine I need a fishing book!!"
So I spent the better half of an hour digging through boxes of books inthe basement and finally find what I am looking for. It is a book that my granddad (My fishing buddy while I was growing up) gave to me when I was 8 years old. Sidney was pumped still talking about it and taking it to bed with him to flip through pictures. It is pretty neat to watch him grow with this kind of passion for a sport that I have a passion for, and to have my own "fishing buddy" :fish2:

I'm jealous, our grandkids live pretty far from us, but I do fish with my daughter, she's 39, and likes to fish on a kayak, so that's a new adventure for me, keeps me young.....
