Anyone enjoy getting out in a canoe or kayak? Any members use these to fish from? Me and my brother have had great adventures fishing from a Kayak on the kaministiqua river in Thunder Bay from a Kayak. Started at Stanley and went down from there. Woo Hoo. |

That was a cool day. Thunder storm hit us half way down and we had to take shelter from the storm, but it passed quickly and we were right back to catching those Kam smallmouth in droves. |

That was an awesome trip. A little bit of fun in the kayak and fishing all in one trip. Should plan for something like that again! Maybe a different river. Always wanted to do the Matawan right from Shebandewan lake.... |

i haved fish from a canoe a couple of time on a lake with very little acces, also from the local river since it was easier to drag the canoe to it instead of the 12 footer aluminum boat. |

I do 90% of my fishing from a canoe. It's the only "boat" I have... lol I find I catch a lot of fish because the canoe is so quiet. I get out with my fishin buddy in his bass boat once in a while. |

At least half my fishing has been in a 17 ft grumman square stern canoe. That is what we use for getting to work in the bush, and in the evenings if time permits we use it for "food procurement". Straps nicely onto the planes pontoons and is extremely sturdy, even in fairly rough water. With a four horse on the back it gets us to our work or camp sites quickly. I see no fun in paddling if you don't have to. I'd rather spend my time fishing. If quiet is needed (ie. for specks) I use an electric trolling motor. |

I have a 16"9' transum stern aluminum Sports Pal and it is the sturdiest canoe I have ever been in. I'm a big 250'er and it takes me and my whole family and its the first canoe I can sit on the seat all day in reletive comfort. There's a square stern and then there's a transum stern - and its a lot wider at the back - I can put on a nice little 2 hp yammy and away we go for trolling. very nice lightweight setup. |
