A good waterproof fire starter can be made from saturating cotton balls with vaseline. Stuff as many as you can in an empty 35mm film cannister. They are quick to light and burn with a hot flame.

Another surefire fire starter is strips of old tire inner tube. They too are waterproof and once lit will burn with a very hot intensity. Easy to pack and lasts forever. Posted Image

i know the cotton ball and vaseline works great cause i tried it once to see if really work and let me tell you did, it burns hot so its easier to start a fire when you really need on going.
