I believe safety is the most important part of having electronics . A fish finder puts you on the fish but it also shows rocks , logs , sudden depth changes that can take out your prop or damage your hull . Avoiding a costly repair can pay for the unit in a short time . I find a gps unit in the boat can be your best friend . Navigating a strange lake , it is not hard to temporarily get lost . The gps can keep you on course and get you back to the dock safely . If its getting dark , or a storm is moving in , follow your track back . Narrow channels that are hard to find , or the proper route thru a mass of islands becomes no problem with the gps on your team . |
