--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Glenn and I made it out for a 3 hour tour....at elliot lake.....and the Mctv derby
it was a five hour.. give or take ...drive with only a quick stop in Espanola...
there was about 285 pepole in attendance.....the conditions were decent...with light to moderate winds and
overcast conditions....

we had found the derby area was moved about 150 to 200 feet to the south of last years spot...
and we were glad to see the area the biggest fish came out of last year was wide open...
so we set up shop here.....
we were in about 20 feet of water...with about 24" of ice on top...

the action started quick...with a few perch being caught....
glenn started things off for us....and proceeded to catch a 9" perch... and followed that with another one about 8 1/2"...

working as a team....I started with big bait and a bucktail...going for pike....and Glenn with small minnow for perch..or splake..
Glenn caught perch at will most of the derby. landing at least 15 or more...
I too landed a few perch....and was on the board at least....

we worked both set ups hard before switching up to williams and spoons for a while....

looking for some bigger fish....
and finally settled into big minnows and a pike rig...for the last 1/2 hour...

here are some shots from our area....

the derby ended as usual....with only five pike being caught by the group and the biggest at 30 1/2"...worth 14,250.00
as listed in an above post...the next 5 place that counted were perch....all in the 10" range...

Glenn managed an 11th place finish... and myself a 14th...just out of the first kick at the prizes....

Glenn took home a nice compound mitre saw.....worth about 350 to 400 bucks....so a good day for him....

here is a look at the prizes

all in all a decent day....but I sure wish a pike or two showed up in amongst the perch and gave us a shot of the money

here is a shot from earlier this season of Glenn receiving his trophy from last seasons derby wins,,,
and from the look of it he will get to keep it for another year...

we had the pleasure of driving home in the snow... heavy at times...
so it took about 6 hours to return....

Keep on derbying
