hey all...
met up with ratherbe ,glenn and br-auger(my brother) on sunday...in Orillia...
we had decided to try lake Joeseph on opening day...

headed out to the clear lake rd spot at the north end of lake joe.....

it was easy going on the way out after finding a place to park since the crowds were thick....
it was a cold morning at about minus 12 but soon warmed up due to the sunny conditions... the winds were light....
the ice was snowless and hard packed....the bubblers were a bubbling....
at the high end cottages...
we headed out...passed the first island...then out to blueberry island....
after talking with a local guy (nice and friendly...) he was fishing a steep drop off in 90 feet of water...
I found out we were on ...about 8" clear ice and 3"of white ice on top....
he already had a nice 3lber sitting on the ice....

I thanked him for his tips..

we headed out further to find a shoal...and we did... it was 34 feet on top
and dropped off to 100 plus on both sides....
we spent most of the day on one side....fishing 45 to 75 feet of water....
and a couple of forays out into the deeper 120 foot mark...

It wasnt too long ....actually on the first drop...br-auger had a decent laker
on the ice...Not his personal best or anything....but a good way to start off the day...

Glenn was next to hook up....but it was a hit and a miss

ratherbe and I remained fishless....through most of the day...
Marking very few fish on the finders....
about 4pm.... I managed to bag this Ling..and release it .and knew it was time to move on
to a different spot...

in our new spot...ratherbe finally broke his laker skunk... with a couple of little guys....

glenn remained skunked for the day... and about 5:30 we headed off...

a few shots....of the busy lake

all in all nice to be out again... for lake trout...

the ice had opened across the spot....we had headed out on....and we were forced to walk almost on shore..of the first island.....to get off the ice...
a van we had seen earlier in the day.....would be hard pressed to get off the ice at this location....though he had driven over it to get out on the ice....
I hope he made it off.... somewhere else....(crazy)

well thats it for lake Joe (Noe).. for another year...a little to busy....and populated for us...

keep on drillin
