thats too bad Final, I have seen some on the internet but many of them were sketchy at best and not real accurate, I am looking for plans for big water planer boards that dont flip in chop or sink with muskey baits pulling on them, I would like them to be tried and tested by someone other than me!!!!, I dont have the time to spare to tweek them myself. |

I tried to remember what the details were all I can remember is they are cut fromm 3/4" marine grade plywood the front cut on a 45 degree angle, the long side of the cut on the side away from the boat so you would see the 45 degree cut when looking at the board as you played it out. eye hooks were used for the tow line and a downrigger release was used to attach the fishing line to the board at the back a series of 1/2"holes was drilled along the bottom edge and short 1/2"bolts with lock washer and nut to keep board upright the amount depends on how big you cut the board, small dowl with flag glued in drilled hole on top at front then board is painted with a bright colour. these were for rough water you played out the line for the board by hand, line strength is up to you. I just can't remember where the eye hooks went on the side of the board

Here are a couple sets of plans that are the same as the ones I made 10 years ago and still use today I used these boards on L. Erie, Huron, Ontario and St. Claire. They work very well in rough water and can handle the pull of large musky lures. As far as diving goes mine usually do it to me maybe once or twice a year. It's a pain in the butt when it happens but it is always in extreme conditions when I probably shoudn't be out there anyway. Good luck, hope this helps http://www.quintefishing.com/make_your_own_dual_planer_boards.htm http://planerboard.blogspot.com/ |

I used pine as well, however a couple of my friends just made some out of cedar and they seem to really like it over the pine. A little lighter and seem to pull out to the side better they say. Have fun! |
