Took the family to the cottage for the weekend and other than the bugs had a great time. One thing I've always said, if the blackflies are biting so are the trout. Well it didn't fail me this weekend. My Dad had went up ahead of us and had everything ready so we could go for a fish when we arrived only thing is he forgot fish finder oh well have to fish by memory. Funny how you become dependant on a piece of equipment. Well first night all we got was one in the boat, a few hits and I lost a nice one close to the boat. Next morning we go to one of our favorite lakes but couldn't go out as the launch had been tore up by rear wheel drive trucks and washout. Could have been a good thing as we ended up catching 7 in our back up lake :er: Also saw three moose that morning a young bull and a cow and calf. That evening we head out to another local lake and mange to bring 16 fish to the boat including the first two caught by me 6 year old son. Next morning we head to yet another old favorite and landed another 3 fish. Saw 2 elk on way to lake and one on way back which is always kinda neat. So all said we landed 27 lake trout, lost a few, had numerous strikes and tons of fun. Kept 4 little ones for a fish fry which the kids just love but I think my dad like sit even more. What an amazing weekend in Bancroft with family can't wait to head back up. Oh for those interested the fish were caught between 26-30' deep with steel line most caught on red and yellow five of diamonds with some taken on gold and red len thompson and a few others on Wordens Worry tipped with minnows.
