What is Ki? Inside everyone is a spirit we draw power from rather it be physical mental or any other kind of strength. Most don't know they have it and those who do don't know how to control it. This power is called Ki. A warrior uses Ki without knowing they use it. It is the power of rage, the focus of dedication, the endurance of persistence. At its lowest essence people would refer to it as a second wind. Those who dedicate their lives to understanding the power of Ki are known as Shugenja. Shugenja can manifest their Ki in various forms depending on how they train and what power they seek. Bushi also have an ability to manifest Ki but since a Bushi dedicated him or herself to the art of the blade they are very lacking in the amount of spirit that can be used.
Ki Pool Ki is judged at by points. Each character will have a Ki pool which restricts how much Ki they can use per topic. They can spend them as they wish but when they run out the character will not be able to cast another spell for the rest of the topic.
Casting Cost To cast a spell the character spends the required amount of points to summon the spell. The cost listed for the spell is the casting cost. No matter what the casting cost is, the energy of the spell is only equal to 1 Ki.
Spending Extra Ki After spending the Ki of the casting cost many of the spells have additional properties that can be done by spending more Ki. Doing so will give you greater control of the spell. This may mean you can control the spell for a longer amount of time or increase your control of the spell.
Power Struggles If two people are trying to control the same thing at the same time, a power struggle is formed. Power struggle happens when a person tries to take control of a spell before the desired effect of the caster. Both casters must pay the casting cost to use the spell. If the second person matches the cost of the first person they can just the spell. If they spend more Ki than the original spell then they can take control of the spell. An example of this would read as follows:
Nil uses Manipulate Earth to lift a rock from the ground and throw it at Jin. 6ki Jin uses Manipulate Earth to stop the rock in air and throw it back. 6ki +1ki Nil uses Manipulate Earth to stop the rock in air and it falls to the ground. 6ki +1ki
Elemental clashing In some instances a spell or element can naturally be stopped by another element. In this case you fall into a Power struggle however the power struggle must be plausible, meaning it could actuality work. In this instance if both use the same amount the spells impact and cancel. If one uses more Ki the person with the greater size of their element will over power but the ending power of the spell will be only as strong as the Ki difference. . An example of this is as follows:
Nil uses Expand Flame(4ki) to make a candle into a torch then uses Manipulate Flame(6ki) to throw the fire ball at Jin. Jin uses Summon Water(2ki) in front of his body then Expand Water(4ki) to make the orb larger letting the fire impact it. Nil uses Expand Flame (4ki+1) to make the fire expand pushing through the water orb.
Starting out a Shugenja has the ability to call upon 60 points of Ki Starting out a Bushi has the ability to draw on 20 points of Ki

A Shugenja has the ability to pick an Element from Character Creation. Doing so make all spells of that type cost half the Casting cost. As a result all other elemental spells will cost double.
Summoning Summoning calls the element to you if it isn’t naturally around you. Water vapor can be turned into a ball of water. Air can be condensed into an orb of wind. Sand and dirt can be condensed into stone. Fire can be ignited in air. Once an Element is summoned it will stay summoned as long as it is being manipulated by one person in the topic. Once no one is manipulating a summoned element it will go back to its previous state. If an element already is constant then summing it is unnecessary.
Lengthening spells If you know you wish to use the same spell for prolonged period you may pay an additional 1ki/post at the spell cast to keep it for that amount of additional Ki points. Once your casting Lengthen runs out you will need to recast the spell or you will lose control of the element.
