Position: Boxer
Physical Appearance Height: 9'4 Weight: 820 lbs Fur: Tatu has light brown fur. This fur is on his stomach, and essentially any unarmored areas. This encompasses softer spots such as the armpit, stomach, and groin area. His head actually has very little -closer to no - fur on top of it. Where he has fur it is rather thick.
Eyes: Sadly, Tatu has been cursed with eyes that look just like those of his animal ancestor. As such, they are essentially all black with no "whites of the eyes" to speak of.
Clothing/Accessories: Tatu wears only a few articles of clothing. Boxing shorts being the main one . His are black shorts with a gold border at the top with the brand of his shorts at the top (Fiore). Other than that, he doesn't wear any clothing or accessory. While most boxers wear shoes for traction, Tatu has found that to be a hindrance with his armadillo claws. He has yet to find a pair of shoes that he likes and would allow him to use his claws for non-combat purposes. Other than that, he does wear Boxing shoes, socks, and boxing gloves. The shoes are black with a gold pattern around the bottom of the shoe. He wears matching black socks, and his boxing gloves are black with the word Fiore written in gold on them. Gold also lines the sides of the gloves.
General Appearance: Tatu looks a lot like an armadillo on two feet, with a humanoid face. He stands tall with broad shoulders and fur lining his stomach. Underneath the fur, his muscles are quite hard due to constant training as a boxer. His face, back, arms, chest, neck, and tail are all armored with scales known as Scutes. Scutes are essentially bone covered in a layer of horn. On his forehead, he has two horns made of the same material as that of his scales - which is found in some but not all armadillo breeds. While his face is covered in protective scales, it looks rather humanoid other than the scales and his eyes. He is completely bald on the top of his head - as fur or hair have difficulty growing through a solid layer of armor.
Each hand and foot has claws similar to those of his pure animal cousins. They are useful for slashing, though Tatu rarely uses them for such - nor were they actually designed for slashing. The curvature of the claws make their proficiency in digging well known. Though Tatu makes a habit of keeping his claws trimmed so he can wear boxing shoes and gloves.
His armored tail is approximately seven feet in length and he keeps it wrapped around his body, unless he is using it.
The Character Personality:
Tatu is a stern person. Serious to a fault, he cares about only a handful of things. The first is he wants a good fight. He doesn't really care if he loses a fight, that just motivates him to get stronger. He cares more about the competition and is sad more often when there is none than when he loses a fight. The second thing he cares about is his home. Tatu has been raised with the idea of collecting money and artifacts and sending them back to Zou and he takes this serious.
While he is serious, Tatu is prone to bouts of depression and loneliness. He likes to convince himself that it's because life isn't as exciting as it could be - but he knows the truth. Tatu desperately wants to find love and can feel lonely whenever he isn't in a relationship. The depression can be triggered by this, though that isn't the only thing that triggers it.
Tatu is slow to anger, though once he is angry he can be fearsome as he will not stop until he reaches his goal - whatever that may be. The main exceptions to this are if someone insults boxing, his family, or minks. These three things are things that Tatu does not believe are okay to insult.
Tatu isn't one to try new things. It's not that he is disdainful of new things, he just doesn't see the reason. He has boxing, carpentry, and bounty hunting. Tatu doesn't feel as if he needs to try anything else new in order to live a fulfilling life - unless that new thing is a hot date.
Hometown: Zou, New World History:
Chapter 1, The Rise of the Montukin Tatu's history begins long before he was born. His history begins with the rise of the Montukin clan of Minks. This story begins roughly 100 years ago. Visitors had arrived and there existed a select few minks who realized that their largely isolationist lifestyle wasn't doing them any good.
There were about ten minks in this crew, none of them were related by blood - though all were best friends. They had grown up together and trained together for their entire life. The arrival of the visitors had stirred something deep within them, though. A desire to see the outside world. What else was there besides Zou? They had to know.
So, they left. They all had different skills - as one needed skills to survive on Zou. It was rare if someone was just a fighter. These skills proved useful as they prepared to leave. One knew what food supplies to collect while another knew how to build a boat. It took many months but one day the time to leave came and so they did. They traveled the seas and some would have called them pirates. They had no goal other than to see other islands, but labels tended to follow them as they put their skills to the test. The group saw many lands and learned many things.
One of these things they learned was that Zou had done well as a self-sustaining kingdom, but it could do better. Trade brought riches from other kingdoms into their own and enriched the lives of those living in the kingdom. This was something they all became extremely interested in and so they began to collect riches from other kingdoms. Beli, treasures, technology. They brought everything they could back to Zou. Then, they returned to the sea. Eventually, they learned of the bounty system. The Mink Warriors began to collect bounties of pirates and brought the money back to Zou to enrich their economy.
Over time, this group began to be called Montukin - the children of the God of War, Montu. Adapting this name for themselves, they reveled in their actions.
Sadly, all good things must come to pass and the Montukins grew old. Too old to collect bounties, too old to sail. They were left with a choice. Retire or continue to fight and enrich their economy. That was when the tradition was truly started - as the children of the original Montukin stepped forward and took up the mantle. The elders allowed this and began to dispatch missions and bounties from the safety of Zou. One day, they passed and their children took the place of the elders - allowing the grandchildren of the originals to take up the mantle.
Things have continued like this for 100 years, creating a large family of different Mink species. While they aren't all related, they all consider each other family. The current generation do not even know that they aren't all related; they just know they are part of the Montukin bounty and treasure hunting family.
Chapter 2, Tatu Montukin
Tatu was born into the Montukin clan and knew nothing else. His mother and father were both Minks of the same variety as he was - an armadillo. His father, however, did not grow up as a Montukin. He never traveled off the island. His mother, however, traveled frequently.
Tatu learned how to fight in a similar manner to all Minks. They were a warrior race and were all trained how to fight in the same way. They were all taught to use electro, as well. Tatu took to combat immediately, though he liked the competition of it more than the actual combat. He didn't necessarily enjoy punching others or being punched. No, he enjoyed being able to prove that he was better than someone else. Or, he enjoyed being able to find someone who could prove they were better than him. It wasn't common, but it happened. Whenever it happened, Tatu would work as hard as he could to train and become a more accomplished fighter.
One day, he fought someone who defeated him using only punches. Intrigued, Tatu asked the boy why he only punched. The world opened up to Tatu on that day, as the boy - named Xobe - revealed himself to be a boxer. Tatu had heard of the sport before, but had never considered it worthwhile. What kind of fighter only fights with their fists. The teenage Xobe's powerful punches showed Tatu that he was wrong to think that way. They weren't weakening themselves by restricting their style - they were specializing. The thirteen year old Tatu asked to join the same gym as Xobe and he began to learn how to fight from the coach at the gym.
Day in. Day out. Tatu trained. Years went by this way as Tatu trained. He would participate in boxing tournaments on the island. At first, he lost. Badly. Tatu didn't give up, though. He continued to train. He had to be stronger. Faster. Tougher. One day, Tatu turned around and realized that none of them could keep up with him in the ring. Well, all except one person. Xobe - his best friend - fought in the ring like a caged animal. Blows rained left and right. Electricity seemed to jump from his punches as Tatu fought. It was always a close fight -but Tatu ended up winning the finals match on his 18th birthday. It was to be his final tournament, for Tatu was slated to begin travelling the seas as a full grown member of the Montukin clan.
While he trained in boxing, he received additional training from his family. Every member of the Montukin clan received basic sailing instructions and learned about how to judge if an item was worth bringing back. The most important skill they learned was always a specialization, though. For Tatu, this was carpentry. His mother was a carpenter before him, and Tatu took to it almost as well as he took to boxing. He practiced crafting a ship day in and out and worked with his mother whenever she was in port.
On his 18th birthday, Tatu fought in his final boxing tournament and sent him on his way. He was dropped off at the beginning of the Grand Line - where he would have a chance at actually succeeding in his career - by family members.
This is where the story of Tatu Montukin truly begins.
Abilities and Possessions Combat: Tatu is a purebred boxer. He has never been one to practice the hit and run outfighting style. He has always been the person to run in and get up close and personal in a fight. As a boxer, he only uses his hands. One of his biggest weaknesses in a fight is that he hasn't really worked on his toughness. Instead, he relies on his scales to protect him enough to allow him to dish out blows. While it has worked so far, he will surely face people down the line who will make his armor useless. Weaponry: Boxing gloves Items:
