"Imagine a food that can heal you..."

Kid commented, hardly even replying to her comment. If the medicinal properties of the plant were true, then not only could he create an impressively nice dish, but it could even heal allies. He liked the idea of being able to actually make himself happy by eating, instead of trying to and instead just making himself feel worse. Sugar tended to do that to you, not that he particularly paid attention to that warning. His attempt to reach the plant was once again foiled, though not particularly by the attempt to trip him. Instead, it was the attack made at Yumi. He hadn't particularly considered this woman would attack her, and whilst the girl did annoy him, he still did care about her. Unfortunately being brought to the floor by the tentacle meant he didn't have an opportunity to help her. His eyes widened as he watched a tentacle near her.

"Possession? Like... A pet or something?"

She asked, completely oblivious to the incoming attack, or so it seemed. Instead of striking her flesh, instead the attack struck her arm. However it was no longer a pale arm, but instead now a blade, causing the attack to simply bounce off with the loud sound of metal hitting metal. Although it still did resonate through the girl, she did little more than hum as she reached for her backpack and opened it up. To Kid's surprise Cat jumped out, that being Yumi's pet cat she'd dragged with her from... Wherever she was from.

"Isn't he cute?!"

She spoke cheerily, unaware of the danger she was in and instead began to play with the fairly average sized animal, her arm reverting back to normal so she could fuss him. Whilst completely harmless as a normal human, Yumi was still a weight for their opponent. Kid sighed heavily, thankful that the girl was alive, before clambering to his feet. Her significant attempt to not cause much chaos was making him think perhaps they could solve this peacefully.

"She uh... I don't know why she joined us, or... Why she brought her cat. But uhm, you know... The stuff in here isn't damaged like you think, it's uh... Preserved I guess. You could thaw whatever you need..."

Kid didn't like to beat people up if he didn't have to, although everything that had happened so far made him fairly sure he couldn't actually hurt this woman even if he tried. In fact, in some ways it was a stalemate from the start. They couldn't hurt each other, and although there was now another... Issue in the room, two now if you counted the random feline out of nowhere, he had a feeling they'd be ok for now. Perhaps if he tried to act casual, she wouldn't attack? Uncapping a hot chocolate grenade in his pocket, he brought it to his lips and had a sip.

"Do uh... You want a drink? We... Could probably be more... Civil? I guess..."

"Yes pleaaaassseeee, I'd like a drink. A drink... Drink... Did you say something?"

"Food that heals you," ? said Rei no Leliel, refusing to be distracted by Kid's apparent distraction. The serrated blades of the tentacle hardly even did anything to the other cyborg's own metal skin, though they secured her grip on his leg handily enough. A kind of stalemate, in that way. "I believe I've heard of such things. Children's books, mostly."

Which fit with his personality, if she were brutally honest. "But the akwa suckrose is no storybook food, and will not heal you if you consume it." Quite the opposite, to be honest; the brief surge of energy that came from its high sugar content (and the other chemicals and hormones in its sap) often left targets more tired than they had been before they ate it. She only had to wait Kid out, and the axe-woman as well.

It was another stalemate there; the brown goo bound the woman to her tentacles, but as with Kid, Rei no Leliel's blades could not bite into the woman's skin. Not when the woman seemed to be able to effortlessly shift between her human and blade-like forms, almost like some kind of Devil Fruit.

"Like a weapon," replied Rei no Leliel, retracting her tentacle. The woman seemed - like Kid - to be more preoccupied with things other than... Than. Well. Rei no Leliel was certainly no threat to them, that was evident, but similarly her own titanium skin had largely weathered Kid's strange concoctions without harm. "And... no. It is not." Rei no Leliel watched the cat warily. It was bad enough that the cyborg had come into the medical samples storage room and started munching on things, but now there was a live animal in it too. It was a nightmare of contamination. She hoped none of these samples would be needed for any patient with allergies; but then, she wasn't entirely sure that the various clouds of orange fizz or freezing white cream hadn't already ruined those samples beyond very careful, very limited use. She watched the woman play with the cat, considering. Maybe if she used the cat as a distraction, and managed to rip her way free of the goo in time to grab the akwa suckrose-

"Preserved." ? said Rei no Leliel. She looked at the samples around her. They looked like they were still covered in frost. "In orange fizz and cold cream." She ran her finger down a nearby shelf; it came away covered in orange-and-white foam, but it dissipated away as she rubbed it between her finger and thumb. Maybe he was right. She wouldn't be certain until she could actually examine some of the samples, but... She glanced ahead, beyond Kid. The akwa suckrose was still there, yes. And now he was offering... something hot and steamy.

Just the thing to ruin the air-conditioning, thought Rei no Leliel. It was a chilled storage room for a reason... but then, this was better than futile attacks on each other. "I have no sense of taste," she informed the boy, and with some effort she ripped her way free of the binding goo. She began to carefully clean her blades, retracting them gradually as she removed all traces of the brown stuff from them. "But I accept the offer of peace. Only do not further... molest... the akwa suckrose."

"I'm sure I could find a way..."

He spoke fairly casually, despite the fact he had no idea what exactly the plant would actually do to his body. For all he knew, it was poisoning him, though he had a feeling his weird digestive system would help protect him at least to a lesser degree. It tasted good enough that he was fairly confident in his safety though. Kid couldn't help but watched rather entertained by the show this unknown woman and Yumi were putting on, though it seemed the Birkan didn't even know she was putting one on, simply poking the cat as best she could considering she was still partially bound to the tentacles. The comment about weapons and not being cute seemed to fly over her head, though the cyborg still couldn't tell if it was intentional or not whenever she ignored people.

"Uhm... Technically milkshake, but... I guess it's the same..."

He attempted to correct, though crumbled quickly with his will being that of... Well, nothing. He had little energy for most things social, this being yet another example. Though, he was willing to put in some effort when it came to his own inventions, he was fairly proud of them after all. He was shocked to hear that she didn't have any sense of taste though, which made him wonder if that was the robo side, or the fish side. Most likely the former, considering the fish he'd known had enjoyed his food. Unless... Had she been lying just to keep him happy? No, that couldn't be! He opted not to ask just yet, instead replying to her next comment.

"I only... Well, I'm here only for the... Uhm, a small sample or two of the plant. I'm, uhm... Sorry about your taste, I guess..."

He wasn't going to take the whole thing, he was stupid at times but he wasn't that mean or selfish. As much as he'd enjoy having a whole one of them, if he took a simple leaf he could use it to replicate the taste, but also grow his own. The possibilities, whilst not endless, were fairly vast when it came to a chef's meals. Not that he was a chef. Just... A budding cook, or... Chocolatier? No, he liked making sweets too. He was stuck for a name, but he decided to stand back away from it briefly, the only sound in the room now being the humming of an unknown tune, and the brief meowling of the cat. Now that he thought about it, her words were... Questionable ones. It did make him wonder something.

"So... Uhm, what exactly did you want it for? D-Do you work here?"

The Kid was remarkably confident. Rei no Leliel did not deny that stranger things might exist out there; fact was often stranger than fantasy, ran the popular saying. And yet if such things existed, they would be popular; foods that healed you? Hospitals would be clamouring for such things, if you could make enough of them to sell. She looked at the cyborg. "You would certainly try," she commented, as neutrally as she could given their current... stand-offish situation.

The blades, finally cleaned, returned to their hidden holsters within Rei no Leliel. She ran a finger through the "milkshake" stuff again. Even if it were only that, it was hardly sterile now that it had spattered across all these medical samples and their shelves; the hospital would have a great deal of fuss and bother to go through when they were done. Rei no Leliel did not think she envied them. "It is no matter," she said to him, absently considering the samples. She thought the damage might be less than she had immediately assumed it would be. The hospital had been wise enough to take some care in sealing the samples within labelled jars and vials. "I have not missed tasting food, and it has had little enough effect on daily life, compared to the other surgeries." A little bit of an overstatement, of course. She had had leisure time enough to have idle memories of sweet and tasty foods; it was unavoidable. But Rei no Leliel knew better than to wallow in self-pity.

She considered the akwa suckrose. A small sample or two? "I would consider that you had already gotten the samples you had wanted of it," said Rei no Leliel, nodding at the remains of the medical sample. "There is certainly little enough left of it for everybody who would want some. And... no, I do not work here. But I, too, want some of it. It has uses in my own research and." She paused. Did she want to tell him? He seemed the talkative kind. But it did not really matter. She had come there in a nurse's guise, and she planned to leave it the same way. "I have my own research into certain pathologies. The akwa suckrose is useful in the treatment of a certain such virus." There, that was enough to make her claim on the sample sound important, without telling him too much.

She looked at the plant. "There is hardly very much of it left. I would say there is the very barest minimum available for both you and I, assuming you do not plan to eat even more of it."

How could she not miss food? There were plenty of foods which were just too great to miss. Even a simple sponge with some cream could be amazing if done well. And what about bacon?! Perhaps she was one of those vegetarians... Seemed unlikely if she was a fish though considering how their hunting habits seemed to work, but he shrugged the idea off with the help of a new concern. She mentioned 'other surgeries'. Did that mean that she herself hadn't actually made her own cybernetic enhancements? It was entirely plausible, though the idea of someone removing her taste buds or whatever seemed extreme. So, did she lose them then? Had she been so badly injured by something? He shivered at the idea of it.

As she continued to speak he wondered... She mentioned a virus. Was she perhaps ill, or perhaps someone she knew was? He felt a little bad about taking a bite of it now, but nevertheless, there was just enough for both of them, if compromises were made.

"I.. Uhm... Y-You can have it then... But, I wouldn't mind a... Small scraping of a leaf, or a uhm... Seedling if there are any to be found, so I could research it too. Grow one of my own I guess..."

Whilst that conversation continued, Yumi now free from the tentacles was making her way across the floor after Cat, watching the feline with interest and occasionally mimicking his actions. Thankfully not all of them however. She eventually took hold of him and hugged him briefly, before placing him back in her bag much to his protest. He was soon hidden away however, and now that left her sat idly on the floor, looking off into the distance at something.

"You seem... Fairly accurate with those, uhm... Thingies. Tentacles? You can take the sample you want..."

He stepped aside, allowing her access. As long as she didn't plan on running off with the sample he was content with whatever. He'd been reading a little about plants recently, it was often possible to grow them from very little, depending on their source of course. Some could be grown from a snippet of the stem or roots, others did require the full seed, whether it be a large one or one of several hundred. He also knew of insects needing to interact with them, which was mildly off-putting though.

She watched him. Even if she had harboured any doubts as to the veracity of his claims, the way he shivered at the mention of her own loss of taste was telling: if he wasn't a chef, then he was doing a very good job of acting like a person to whom food was a great tenet of life.

"The akwa suckrose is not an easy plant to grow," she remarked, picking up the plant remains and carefully sifting through them. "Or the hospital would already have seedlings in its greenhouse, or a small patch of garden somewhere. You will need to be a skilled gardener indeed." Still, that earnestness was... something to be rewarded, and he had indeed let her take her sample. Rei no Leliel did not want to deprive the younger cyborg of something they had negotiated for. "There are some seeds here," she said, "and here is a piece of stem and leaf."

She stripped the stem and leaf away, so saying, and wrapped the leaf around the few seeds she had harvested from the akwa suckrose. She held it out to Kid for his taking.

"You are also skilled with your... explosives," she replied, busying herself with fussing over her own sample. Certainly she did not want it to retain traces of his chemicals. "I expect we have both had occasion to develop skills with our own equipment." Though it was still at least a little irritating, that they'd come to a stand-still the way they had. She still had a long way to go, she thought.

"I think I know one..."

Kid replied awkwardly, thinking about all the spores Salas had no trouble growing. Due to the Shaman's relation to nature, he imagined it wouldn't be too difficult for him to do some growing of the plant. The cyborg himself wasn't too knowledgeable in plants, though he had a certain knack for when it came to sugary stuff. His eyebrows raised in surprise as he was offered a piece of the plant however, having anticipated very little yet receiving a surprising amount. He smiled in response and accepted the gift.

"T-Thankyou"

He replied fairly bluntly, unsure what else to say in that situation. It appeared the animosity of the situation had been diffused, and now he'd feel bad if he decided to fight her anymore. They didn't need to fight thankfully, they'd both gotten what they wanted. Though... The hospital hadn't been left with much, but he supposed they'd still have enough, and if this person wanted to cure some sort of illness then it was still going to a good cause. His wasn't such a great cause but... He was allowed to be selfish sometimes, and if he managed to grow more he could always return some.

"True... Unfortunately"

Kid looked down at the various equipment latched onto his trousers, aware that each and every piece would have its time and place to be used, and whilst he wasn't much of a fighter at heart... Well, he was made of metal now, he doubted many people made completely out of metal were on the route of pacifists. Opening up an empty capsule, the cyborg slipped the plant sample inside for safe keeping, before slipping it back into his pocket. After an awkward moment of silence, he turned towards the distracted winged girl sat on the floor. With a sigh he wandered over to her and tapped on her head a few times, and without even a word her body began to transform. Awkwardly he took hold of her arm, a moment later her whole form becoming that of an axe. He then simply attached her to his belt loop and wandered back over to the sample.

"You'll need their help," said Rei no Leliel, finally satisfying herself that her own pieces of the akwa suckrose were good and clean enough to be used without fear of Kid's chemicals interfering in some unexpected, probably highly negative way. It would be just her luck if she came up with some kind of solution that couldn't function without Kid's grenades, and then where would everybody be? "I have personally never seen any of this growing wild. It appears to be an entirely cultivated hybrid." She gave the sample one last look, confirming its good condition, and then the doors to one of her own storage spaces slid open and she put the sample in.

"And you are welcome." Rei no Leliel stood there, as awkward as the younger cyborg. Though, she thought, she did not actually know that he was younger than she was; it was entirely an assumption based off of his name and his manner. And she did not think that it was appropriate to ask him about his age, though what would be appropriate to talk about in the situation was... uncertain. She saw him look at the sample of akwa suckrose remaining, or what was left of it. "The hospital will have to make do with what they have," said Rei no Leliel, taking the tiny excuse to defuse the awkwardness. "It is less than what they expected to have, but." She took the time to make a few quick estimates. "It is also less than they will need, even if they dilute it enough to treat only the barest symptoms in the least afflicted patients," she admitted, after double-checking her calculations. No, she hadn't been pessimistic. The samples remaining simply would not make a dent in the coming epidemic. "They will have to order more," she concluded with a little shrug. The hospital would just write it off as a bad loss and probably complain to their insurance, but the patients would have to take what they could get.

Rei no Leliel watched Kid re-arm himself with the axe-woman and wander back. "Have you had her very long," ? she asked. They had made less noise than she thought, or so she hoped; the hospital probably would not be alerted to them for a while yet, especially given how busy it already was outside. "You seem less experienced with her than with your explosives."

So it was one of those weird modified plants? He'd only heard about the plant briefly from the marine description, and after having a few people ask around for him it turned out it was indeed sweet, just like he'd hoped for. And now he had his own sample, even if it'd be difficult to grow. He looked briefly at the pot it was in. It appeared to be fairly normal... He listened to the woman continue to talk, mentioning how the hospital could just about manage with what they had, but they'd have to dilute things. He supposed that was ok. Plus, most hospitals had affiliations with marines from what he could tell, so... Well, he supposed he didn't want anyone to die but... He'd make sure to figure things out. Soon she moved onto the topic of... Yumi?

"Uh, uhm... She sort of turned up a few weeks ago... I'm not really a uhm, fighter I guess"

He looked down at his hands, almost entertained by what he'd just said. Not a fighter? His whole body was augmented to allow him to do as best as he could in combat, and he had enough weapons in his arsenal to find a weakness in almost any opponent. He looked down at the weapon by his side, the dragon head on the top quietly trying to reach out to the cola whip which was strung up nearby. Yumi couldn't quite reach it though, and though she was trying to be subtle, she wasn't doing all too well. Kid opted not to interrupt her.

"What about you? Your... Uhm, tentacles? You're good with them"

He attempted to chuckle, only managing to sound like he was clearing his throat. Those tentacles that she had, he was sort of beginning to doubt that they were natural, though he couldn't figure out why he thought so. Maybe he was just overthinking, trying to keep his mind busy and all that sort of thing.

He said he wasn't a fighter, but he held an axe, was built of material at least as sturdy as herself, and was draped about with strange chemical explosives. Rei no Leliel thought that Kid was vastly underestimating himself... or simply didn't have a very good sense of himself. Yet another childlike thing about him, and it made her wonder if his name had been chosen by him, or for him - a nickname, as it were. And the way he put it made Rei no Leliel think, too. She had thought him to occupy some junior position in his crew: no high-ranking member would have been left to run around on their own without some kind of entourage.

But he had had an entourage, just not a visible one. Yumi - the axe-woman's name, then - had simply joined him, or so he said. Some kind of subordinate, just as durable as her master and twice as strange. So that made him at the very least some kind of mid-level officer of his crew. "You do a good job of pretending the role," (‾_‾) said Rei no Leliel at last, with a little shrug of her shoulders. "Especially if you are able to attract followers of that caliber to you." Not that Yumi was demonstrating her caliber to particularly flattering advantage at the moment, but the axe-woman had not ever committed to the combat. It probably meant something.

"These are my weapons," said Rei no Leliel simply, extruding one of her Spines and running it carefully through her fingers. "They have proved very useful."

"Uhm... Thanks"

He scratched the back of his head, cheeks blushing moreso than previously. He appreciated compliments, but accepting them was difficult. Perhaps it'd be easier if people wrote them down to him. He pondered that thought for a moment... Perhaps he should try and make some form of technology which allowed the quick transportation of written messages. Pushing a sheet back and forth only worked if you were close by, but something with a bit more range, such as a Den Den but for written stuff. But not one of those... Thingies. He knew of those machines which slowly printed stuff, that wasn't his plan. He wanted instant messaging back and forth. It seemed like such a simple but genius idea. His thoughts trailed off as the woman in front of him continued to talk, having forgotten his situation for a moment.

"I mean... She just sort of wandered onto the ship accidentally... But I guess..."

He chuckled as best he could, before hearing her next comment about her tentacles simply being weapons. She didn't consider them... Limbs or something? Did that mean they weren't natural at all? Did that mean he could get his own tentacles?! The idea of having extra appendages did seem appealing. After all, he only had two hands but when working he always felt like he needed more. Though perhaps he could solve that simply with just extra fingers. Could... Could he make extra fingers?! The world of cybernetics was a lot larger than he'd ever really considered up until this point, and it certainly intrigued him how far he could take things before screwing up. Well, it wasn't like he hadn't previously? That phase where he couldn't put his own hands back on had been a bit disastrous. His cheeks blushed violently at the thought, once again bringing him back into the real world.

"Oh, uhm... So they're not natural at all? Uhm, uh... What... What's your name by the way?"

Was that too personal? It wasn't like he was asking her age or something. He'd heard that asking a woman's age was a terrible idea. That said, did she believe herself to be a woman anymore? Kid had heard of cyborgs which stopped identifying as anything other than metal. Wait... Was that because they removed their..? It couldn't be, surely... The movement of people outside of the storage room reminded him to be on edge suddenly, leading to him beginning to bounce from foot to foot awkwardly just a little, his thumb running across Yumi's hilt over and over, before he caught himself and stopped.

"You are welcome," said Rei no Leliel, slightly bemused. Certainly Kid could not have achieved what he had, without any firm grasp of it; generally it was the incompetent ones who had to learn how little they truly had. Perhaps Kid had been one of them, and had learned his lesson too well. Rei no Leliel thought that was a good thing; more people out there needed that kind of lesson. "And you should be proud of your accomplishments," :) she added, to help elaborate.

Rei no Leliel had no eyebrows to raise. No. She did indeed have eyebrows to raise - just not real eyebrows. Vision dials clicked and whirred for a moment, and two elegant eyebrows appeared on her brow, arched in interest. "Yes. That is what I say; you managed to attract a follower of great caliber, without any special expenditure of effort. That speaks something about you, something flattering. I do not think she would have chosen to remain with you otherwise."

The comment on her tentacles, on the other hand... Rei no Leliel tilted her head, watching the young cyborg puzzle things through. She wondered if he had gotten the entirely wrong idea from somewhere. It looked as if he were going through some paroxysm of thought. "No, they are not," she said. "These are my Spine - my weapons, built for me by a smith of Nemea. They are as natural to me as your explosives are, perhaps." The question about her name, on the other hand... Names were dangerous. They could be used to track you down. Kid did not seem hostile or likely to bear a grudge, but Rei no Leliel didn't know about the rest of his crew. Still, he deserved a little benefit of the doubt.

"I am Leliel, of the Reddlins of Stearr," said Rei no Leliel, and it wasn't even inaccurate, strictly speaking; just a few years out of date. "I -" and she paused, hearing the same thing he had.

Ah. Their welcome was overstayed.

"We must go," said Rei no Leliel, and took a bare few seconds for her Vision Dials to click, whir, and cover her in the nurse's guise she had borrowed to come here unnoticed. "I may meet you again, perhaps." She looked at the door. How had Kid entered? That would be his problem, not hers. "Goodbye, for now," and she made for the door, already preparing excuses - and her weapons, should the excuses prove insufficient.

Kid would have mildly enjoyed spending time appreciating the compliment he'd received, or perhaps marvelling at the spines which were not tentacles, but instead he simply panicked as the noise outside grew. Leliel made for the door and put on some sort of disguise, leaving him waving awkwardly and trying to figure out how to make his escape. He'd actually simply wandered in here, but wandering out would be less subtle. Which left him one option...

"Yumi... You'll need to be quiet for this part"

He sighed, darting towards a nearby storage cabinet, opening one of the doors and then hiding himself inside. It was dark, and cramped, but until everything had calmed down he had no chance of escape. And if someone found him in here he'd be doomed. Simply put, he'd just wait it out. Unfortunately two things would make this a challenge. One was the incessant humming of his weapon which he now regretted bringing alone, despite how she'd somehow diffused the situation, and two was that he really needed to pee. Curling up in a ball he sighed to himself. It wasn't the first time he'd ended up curled up in a ball feeling bad for himself, with only his thoughts to keep him occupied, and it wouldn't be the last.
