There are two kinds of people in the world. Rei no Leliel belonged to the first kind, the bigger kind, the smarter kind who would call a rose a rose and be done with it. The other people are the kind who will look at a fifteen-foot-tall, seven-tonne giant and promptly nickname him "Tiny", because that is knee-slappingly funny until somebody like Rei no Leliel comes along and... ...educates them. Sharply. Rei no Leliel was walking through the hospital at a quick pace. Her white hair was bunned tightly up and covered under a nurse's cap, the rest of her hidden by a convenient blue smock, and her holograms did the rest of the work as long as nobody was looking too closely. But nobody ever looked all that closely at a passing nurse in a hospital. This particular hospital was special, today, or Rei no Leliel wouldn't have bothered dressing up to visit it. Particularly for its latest receipt - a sample of akwa suckrose. Which was what was spurring Rei no Leliel's thoughts about the kinds of people who name things, while she hurried down to the medical samples store-room; there was no telling how long they'd let the sample sit there before they went down to harvest it, and she wanted to have taken her own chunk of it by then. So when she entered the refrigerated samples storage room, she was much less than pleased to find somebody else there...

Kid most certainly belonged in the second group. He had a certain love of puns and irony, and also a certain love of sugar. In actual fact, he was more than willing to do a lot to get his hands on anything that would further his cooking, or allow him to make an incredibly sweet and tasty dish. For example today, he'd learnt of a very interesting plant indeed. Whilst it was usually renowned for its medicinal use, he had also heard of it's amazing flavour, a near perfect sweetness that he couldn't figure out how to replicate naturally. Wearing a pair of black walking trousers, a grey t-shirt, an olive jacket and literally nothing on his feet, Kid had found his way into the building he'd heard rumors of it being kept at. A simple hospital which seemed to have mistaken him for a homeless person or something. Whilst he knew denying people their medicine was a terrible thing to do, he was only going to take enough to study and add to some of his meals, or maybe enough to grow his own. Plus, there was always alternative medicines wasn't there? Alternative seasonings were almost always rarer, right? Locating the room hadn't proved much of a challenge, after all there were literal signs which guided people to where the cold storage room was. It was unlikely to be kept in a stockroom or on display, so he'd naturally headed this way. Upon entering the room he'd found the flower rather quickly, and he couldn't help but gawp at its beauty. But... He wasn't here for sight seeing, and so he quickly sheared off a leaf. Unfortunately the temptation was too great, and before he could stop himself he popped it into his mouth. The moment it hit his tongue his eyes widened with glee, the powerful sweet flavour overwhelming his senses, almost making him oblivious to the white haired nurse entering the room suddenly. Almost. "Uh..." The young cyborg attempted, however with his mouth full of leaf, a surprisingly nice tasting leaf at that, he couldn't really manage anything. He'd been discovered though, and that left him with limited options. Running would mean he couldn't get another sample, but talking his way out of it would be a challenge because firstly he was terrible at talking, and secondly he literally had a sword held in front of him ready to take another sample, this one to savour and not to eat... Probably. |

The akwa suckrose was right there. In the hands of the little cyborg. And in his mouth. For all Rei no Leliel, this was the last of a shipment that had been large enough to get specially mentioned on a shipping manifest. And the little cyborg was... grazing on the medical sample. "Unhand it," said Rei no Leliel, stopping stock-still. Her eyes turned a deep dull red. "That is a very valuable medical sample and not your..." She paused. "Your afternoon snack." He looked high. He probably was; it was something in the flower's leaves that had that effect. He'd probably eaten enough of them to not hear her. And that sword looked dangerous. Rei no Leliel felt disgust boiling up. Some kind of addict, no doubt. Searching for his next high, he probably neither knew nor cared what he was eating. Rei no Leliel would educate him. Two hands came up, and Spines launched out of hidden compartments - one to separate the cyborg from the rare flower, and one to put him down blind.

"Itsh... It's kind of both" He managed to reply as he finally swallowed the piece of leaf which he'd been chewing on. The sudden redness of her eyes suddenly sent a chill up Kid's spine. Was this some sort of killer robot nurse or something? Had she just informed her hive mind of his presence?! Of course, it was possible that her eyes changed through non mechanical means, but if it did then the teen certainly didn't know how. Maybe a fishfolk ability? Unlikel- He couldn't even finish his thought process before her attack mode was turned on or something, two weird spiky tentacles launching towards him and smacking him backwards. Duo to his metal body they didn't have their intended effect, but they still launched him into a nearby solid table, ending up with him laying on top of it. "Ah, no, this is a... Uh..." His words failed him again, as expected from him really considering his social incompetence. He quickly flailed to sit up, taking another look at this killer robot. She'd hit him with... Tentacles?! She was a... Fishfolk cyborg? So many questions, yet he knew he wouldn't be able to get the answers he wanted. His chest hurt... He'd hit the table pretty hard and it had almost winded him, and which muscles still remained already ached. He needed to get out more. Looking down at his torso he noticed a distinct lack of a chunk of his t-shirt, as well as skin, meaning that he was currently leaking a brown liquid from his wound, which he himself knew as chocolate. What the killer robot thought though... He didn't know. It always made him curious what people thought. "Ow" He complained, despite not having any actual injuries. In fact, his torso was currently beginning to slowly stitch itself back up, although his insides still stung. Launching himself off the table, he reached to his side and drew his trusty tool of utility, an oversized gummy bear. He then straightened up and released the gummy with an underarmed throw, in an attempt to launch the fishrobot out of the room to give himself a moment. Whether it worked or not he launched himself towards the plant again, grabbing his sword from the floor which he'd managed to drop and slowing down just enough to try and get a clean cut. If he messed it up, he'd ruin the plant after all. Gummy Beast (Item)

The serrated whips travelled through the air with a pair of satisfying swishes, and they struck the cyborg full on with even more satisfying noises. But there was no blood; Rei no Leliel's opponent had evidently gone through modifications at least as extensive as her own. She watched the brown liquid leak. Not blood; she wondered what it was. Certainly it had not stained her whips as she retracted them and began to stride over, intending to secure the flower for herself. "What are you." she demanded, her hologram projectors creating the "?" in the air to serve as the punctuation to her monotone speech. "Who led you here." ? Which was about as far as she got before the cyborg produced a tool. A soft toy? she thought, and then it suddenly expanded and filled her entire field of vision. She threw her arms up, Spines reflexively slashing out at the expanding tool. There was resistance as they went through its soft sticky body, and its momentum propelled it along her whips to come to a stop bare inches from her palms. She struggled to pull her Spines free of it, but - no. The akwa suckrose came first. Auxiliary Spines burst out from her back, one anchoring itself in the ceiling and reeling her up; beneath her, the gummy bear swung like an oversized sticky pendulum. She took aim at the cyborg. Time for a taste of his own medicine, or rather candy; her other Spine struck out at a storage shelf, pushing her in an arc to attempt to smother the cyborg in his own gummy bear toy.

The question mark appearing before her head... There was no way that she was normal. How was she managing that? Some form of projection? Or was it actually solid? His eyes narrowed yet he was unable to figure it out, as suddenly she barraged him with her own questions, including what he was and who had led him here. In fact, he even paused cutting at the plant to think about it for a moment, before realising his rookie mistake and going bringing the sword towards it. However suddenly he was slammed into from the side, his face being smothered by literal candy. His eyes widened with glee before he realised it was in fact his own invention, and not a fellow candy robot. It was hard to breathe but... He still took a bite of his own weapon as he was pinned to the ground. "U-Uhm... I'm Kid" He managed to reply. Perhaps he shouldn't be giving out his name, but it was the first thing to say in reply to her question. He was just about managing to get his mouth to one side in order to breathe. However, he was also fully aware of the female fishrobot now basically sat on topic of him, which was just making things worse. His heartrate increased and his cheeks reddened as he tried to wriggle free, before realising it'd make his situation worse. It had been a while since he'd been close to another person... And yet here he was with another fishperson, and not only that but a fellow cyborg. Despite feeling mildly happy about all that, he needed to escape. "I... Heard about the plant... From a marine group I sort of helped" Back on Little Garden Kid had accidentally found himself aiding marines, and whilst there had come across various documents, including those on the fabled plant. But anyway, on with escaping. Managing to fit a hand into one of his pockets, he began to try and wriggle a device free. Whether he got it free from his pocket or not, he quickly struck the cap, causing the capsule to set off. Although harmless to the two of them, the nearby area filled up with an orange foam of sorts, acting to block the view of those there. In actuality, it was just the fizz from some orangeade, but it was unlikely his assailant knew that. If she gave up on pinning him down for even a moment, she'd find the teen attempting to push her back blindly, before the sound of metal hitting the floor as yet another invention was dropped on the floor, the milkshake grenade. His name was Kid. He certainly looked it. Rei no Leliel approved of that choice of name. She approved of it at a good speed, and the tentacle holding her to the ceiling pulled itself loose right on time for her to land on top of the gummy bear, which landed on top of Kid. So far so good, she thought, while her opponent was immobilised. Rei no Leliel turned her head to check for the akwa suckrose. Yes, there it was, still on the shelf. She glanced down. She wondered, if she went as fast as she could, whether she could get to it before he got out from under his giant toy. "You are an ally of the Marines." said Rei no Leliel flatly. It made her work even more time-critical, if the Marines might burst into the room at any time. She could tell he was wriggling about down there: a den den mushi? No. Something else: thick orange foam began appearing around the edges of the gummy bear and rising up. Probably harmless to the cyborg, if he was releasing it within such close distance, but at the same time she didn't know what it contained. She pulled back, found herself being pushed back by Kid - unexpectedly helpful, she thought. Rei no Leliel was shoved towards the akwa suckrose sample, but the foam expanded faster now that it wasn't being held down by a huge gummy bear. Her visibility was cut off and she could only stumble towards... no. Away from the metal clinking noise. That could be nothing good at all. Rei no Leliel fired another tentacle upwards to pull her to the ceiling, out of the opaque orange foam. Beneath her the entire area was blanketed in thick fizzing orange. Somewhere in there was Kid, and then a large circle of the orange foam turned sluggishly slow. Some kind of explosive, thought Rei no Leliel, two tentacles plunging downwards to act as makeshift legs. She walked on them to stay above the orange cloud, stabbing the other two tentacles blindly through the orange fizz to try to find Kid. |

It seemed mentioning the marines left a sour taste in the fishbots mouth, which meant that... She wasn't one. Or at least that was what he'd deemed from her statement. It was also plausible that he was just socially inept, which now he thought about it was actually the truth anyway. Still, he wasn't a huge fan of how they worked, although mostly was just scared of them, and so wanted to clarify. "Ah, actually... Uh, I didn't want to help" He managed through the orange smoke, as he stumbled back and made sure his footing was good. Suddenly the whole rooms already cold temperature dropped further as pretty much everything was slathered with a thin layer of freezing cold milkshake. This included most of Kid's front, including his wound which now had seemingly healed up. In actual fact it hadn't actually been a wound to begin with, more like a tear in clothing he supposed. However now his clothing was ruined and it'd take hours of washing to get all of this out... He regretted that now. "Cold..." He complained, suddenly seeing one of the tentacles heading his way. Despite having seen it, he didn't actually manage to move, partially because he was really really cold right now, and so instead it simply smacked him aside the head, tipping him to one side and almost knocking him over. He managed to remain on his feet, though the world spun for a moment. When his vision fixed itself he couldn't help but feel like he shouldn't have covered everything in the whole room in a freezing liquid... |

Blackmailed? Commandeered? Did it really matter? "Did the Marines send you here to collect the sample," said Rei no Leliel from high above Kid. She did not bother with the holographic symbols; why would she, when they were hidden from each other's sight by the burgeoning orange smoke and the - she shivered as a spray of frosty white liquid burst through the orange mist to spatter against her. She gritted her teeth. Some of it had landed inside her mouth, and she spat it out. She had teeth to grit now, a novel thing, but she had not bothered with the luxuries of installing taste-buds or smelling sensors. She didn't need those to tell her that it was not a good idea to ingest anything an enemy had created and made into a weapon. Still, it was cold, and sticky. Her movements were... slowed, she thought, pushing her tentacles through the soupy-feeling orange goop. Resistance. Ah. There he was. A clanging sound reached Rei no Leliel's ears a moment after, confirming Kid's location. Good, thought Rei no Leliel, and kept that tentacle in place while she brought her other tentacles into position, still moving slowly against the intense cold. It wasn't even as if the room had been warm before; it was after all a storage room. Rei no Leliel suddenly thought: had the akwa suckrose been similarly covered in that freezing white goo? Had the cyborg just contaminated or destroyed the entire sample out of - spite? Panic? Did it really matter? thought Rei no Leliel, her tentacles lashing out at Kid's last known position with a sudden vengeance. |

"No, they don't. They, uh... Shouldn't anyway..." He managed, still eluding to his ways of accidental piracy. After all, he wasn't wanting to tell the killer fishbot that he was a pirate if it turned out that she actually hated pirates or something. Though with how she spoke about marines maybe he'd be safe doing so, though again that was him assuming he could figure things out from tone of voice alone, something he tended to be fairly poor at. Kid couldn't help but notice the tentacle floating nearby to him though, one which was currently unmoving, but certainly seemed ready to. He gripped his sword, holding it behind him slightly and waiting for some sort of action. The 'smoke' was beginning to clear, which both showed how much of a mess the room was now in, and also the fact that there was movement. Instinctively her lashed out with a flurry of swings. He wasn't great with swords, but then again he wasn't great with many things. That was probably why he found his weapon only catching one or maybe two of the attacks, he couldn't be certain. What he did know was that being punched in the gut again by another metal tentacle wasn't comfortable. The teen found himself in a dilemma. He didn't want to retaliate, yet he also knew if he didn't he'd soon find himself overwhelmed, something he didn't want. He might be able to flee, but he wasn't willing to without at least another sample. In that moment, he made a decision. Reaching into his pocket he launched another metal capsule, and despite still not having quite thawed out from his own attack, he lunged forwards, waiting for his binding grenade in question to land before he would in turn lash out with several swings from his sword at his target. They... shouldn't? Surely Kid knew if the Marines had sent him. Unless the Marines had employed some kind of go-between, and he wasn't certain: for example, if it had been his boss. And if Kid had a boss, or a captain, then that meant he had a crew, who knew where he'd gone and why. It meant backup, it meant her time was significantly more limited than she had thought it would be. Rei no Leliel gritted her teeth, only marginally more satisfied when the thick orange-and-white fizz began to slowly dissipate away and she got a single clear shot at the opposing cyborg, striking him full in the gut. Not deep enough to penetrate or hard enough to strike him down, but then that was the price of exploratory strikes. At any rate, she now knew for certain where Kid was, and Rei no Leliel readied her next strike: balancing precariously on one tentacle, she poised the other three like serpents ready to strike - -sight went both ways. She could see him, and he her. A new metal canister came flying at her, and reflexively she threw tentacles in its path: one tentacle caught it before it reached her, and the next tentacle punctured the metal canister. It was a mistake. There was a blooming mass of brown goo that oozed over the two tentacles and bound them together, but thankfully not to Rei no Leliel herself. But it was - less than crippling, more than an inconvenience - and it was distracting at the worst time, as the cyborg took advantage of it to rush forward. Rei no Leliel lost her balance on her one tentacle and tipped backwards away, landing heavily on the ground. "You have destroyed the samples." ? said Rei no Leliel, backing quickly away from his onslaught of slashes. She used the two tentacles, bound in sticky brown chemical, as a clumsy and makeshift block between the two of them. "Where is the rest of your crew." ? While speaking, she launched her remaining two tentacles, hoping they wouldn't be intercepted or immobilised the way two had already been: one was a direct assault, of course, but the other she fired off at an angle, to bounce off a shelf and hopefully catch the cyborg in a blind spot.

Kid watched as his grenade was not only caught, but thoughtlessly punctured, binding two of the robofish's tentacles together. She seemed to make no attempt bring them apart, and when he brought his sword towards her she actually managed to block many of his attacks with it. She seemed fairly skilled with her weird appendages, but also seemed confused by him, asking why he'd destroyed the samples and where the rest of his crew was. It seemed she didn't understand his choice of grenade, which meant everything could be thawed... But perhaps he could use that to his advantage. "The marines... They don't need this stuff. I do... And so do my crew. They're down by the, uhm, docks. I thought I'd be quick..." Technically this was completely true. He didn't feel like the marines were getting the most out of this, and similarly Salas and Vlad were in fact down by the docks. Though... Technically one of his crew was right here. In fact, as soon as she'd been called out he could sense she was stirring. He sighed, briefly distracted by the uncomfortable shuffling at his side from one of his weapons. The distraction was enough for him to be struck not once but twice, one striking him in the front and the other in the shoulder. He felt these... But they weren't enough to particularly hurt. Reaching out with his bare hand, Kid attempted to grab one of the tentacles, and then pulled forwards with force in an attempt to drag his opponent closer, a questionable tactic for someone that doesn't like people close to him. With that, he reached for the battleaxe at his side and swung with considerable force, a voice suddenly appearing in the room completely unlike either of the cyborg's. "Ahhh, what's... Whoooo. Morning!" |

He needed them? His crew needed them? Rei no Leliel's eyes ran blue as she tried to quickly think through the little she knew about akwa suckrose. It was sweet, and tasted good. That was due to a large quantity of sugar-analogues concentrated throughout the plant in its sap, which it also used to attract wild animals - but while Kid certainly seemed wild enough, she couldn't imagine him or his crew having all developed some kind of... ...addiction. Illness. Something of that sort, to which the akwa suckrose was the only solution? And they'd come here for it. He was sating himself first, of course. Typical. But it also meant that he might very well take the remainder of the samples away for his own crew by the docks, which would deprive Rei no Leliel (and the rest of the island) of the stuff. And Rei no Leliel was determined, more than ever, to not leave the room without some of it. Her tentacles were doing less now. Even when they struck, and they did - with two satisfying clangs of metal on metal - Kid seemed to be barely affected. Was he getting stronger as the battle went on? Was the akwa suckrose having some kind of effect on him? "What do you and your crew need the akwa suckrose for." ? said Rei no Leliel, raising her stuck-together tentacles in preparation to block more incoming attacks. "It is not an antidote to any poison or venom I know." And then she said: "..." ?! as the cyborg grabbed one of the tentacles she had struck him with, and pulled much more forcefully than she would have expected from one of his size. Rei no Leliel was titanium inside and out: she weighed considerably more than she looked like she should, and yet the force was enough that she had to follow the pull or risk the tentacle coming detached. She lurched clumsily towards Kid, and when the battleaxe came swinging out she caught that with the sticky mess that was still binding two of her tentacles together. It was a mistake: the goo simply absorbed the force with little more than a shift and a wobble, and now the brown goo bound two tentacles and a battleaxe together. Rei no Leliel spun around to look for the new voice. "Who are you." ?! |

"I... Uhm... I'm a chef of sorts. Just... In case you didn't notice. I'm also a... Smith I guess? I want to make something special..." He basically complained. He was constantly being questioned throughout this fight and being the non-social type he wasn't sure what to do about it. He couldn't even just scream and run away due to the robofish wanting his chocolatey blood now, though he wouldn't be willing to leave without a small sample anyway. Still, when he managed to pull forwards the fellow cyborg he hadn't anticipated her to block using his fudge, and so now was holding a battleaxe aloft in front of her. He couldn't just leave her there... "Wah? I feel sticky, why am I sticky?! Kiiiidddddd, why am I sticky?! What did you do?!" The battleaxe began to complain, causing his face to redden even moreso. Noticeably the dragons which acted as the head of the axe were actually moving in time with the speech which could be heard, as if the weapon itself was talking. Kid made a brief attempt to break her free, but realising that she wasn't budging without significant effort, he instead opted for the 'brief moment of chaos' approach and tapped her handle a few times. With that, suddenly the battleaxe formed into a fairly large winged human, who was in fact still stuck to the fudge. She wriggled briefly, before it would become evident that she was very heavy, and chances were she'd end up landing on their opponent. "It's not my fault... You got stuck..." Kid replied before skipping past the bundle of girls on the floor... Yeah, he ignored that and made his way over to the substance. This time knowing that the plant had been preserved thanks to the freezing, he needed no time to break away at it. If he weren't stopped getting there, he'd simply ply only one leaf from the plant and stored it in a metal capsule akin to the explosive ones. Right now, collecting the plant wasn't the issue though, as there was now a fairly heavy Birkan that he would have to free, which... Didn't fill him with joy. She was capable of surviving thanks to her pure ineptitude, but she was currently stuck, and someone would have to put in the effort to break them free. "Ohhh, hi. It's a nice day we're having. I think" |

A chef. So that was what he and his crew had wanted? Some kind of... snack, made out of the akwa suckrose? Well. "I've known people like you," said Rei no Leliel, eyes glowing a dull red. "A slave to your appetite... I can't say I understand that kind of lifestyle." She drew back as much as she could, when two tentacles were still enmeshed with the brown goo and now a... talking weapon. Which was actually a talking person, which was much more common but still unexpected. Rei no Leliel glared at the woman. "What were you doing in his possession." ? she said, and then her head whipped aside. A distraction technique? He'd have to do a lot better than that. And Rei no Leliel knew how to deal with human opponents, even if they had been a weapon only moments before. One of her remaining tentacles lashed out to grab at the chef's leg, attempting to trip him up before he got anywhere near the akwa suckrose; but, anticipating some kind of attack from the large woman, Rei no Leliel brought up the other tentacle and stabbed it at the woman. That was one thing she could say in favour of the brown goo; as hard as it was to escape its grip, it also would prevent the woman from dodging her blinding attack.
