Geralf came back, rather calm despite the sound. It was possible that the creature was far away, but still, Don didn't drop his guard. Even as Geralf began working on Oso, it only caused Don to become even more vigilant.

"Where ya at?" Don muttered under his breath, peering out at the border between the fire's light and the pure darkness. From behind him, Don could hear Oso grunting from the pain of the procedure. The fishman wasn't sure if he should be feeling bad for the man or if he should simply be confused. One moment he was flexing his muscles and putting a strain on his body, and the other he was wincing in agony. At least the injured man provided some entertainment in the tense moment.

The crackling bonfire raged on, aided by the hammerhead doctor throwing in the extra wood he gathered. The rest of the island was mostly calm, the scant chirp of a bird or click of a bug. Don looked out at the distance once more, squinting as he concentrated on the shapes hidden by the darkness.

"Time to fight...?"

And just as he noticed it, the leaves began to ruffle and a large figure emerged from the shadows. It was a majestic creature, tall and proud as it stood on its paws. The lion's golden mane surrounded its fearsome visage, red stripes running down its body.

Don tilted his head back slightly to glance at Oso, intrigued by what he called the creature. "A griffin, eh?" The creature snarled at them, bearing its long sharp teeth. Don glanced back in disdain, becoming irritated as he spoke. "I've got fangs too pal." Don grinned, sharp pointed teeth peeking out from his lips. Crack. The shark raised his palm up and pushed against the side of his jaw, a relieving cracking sound coming out as he twisted his neck. Crack.

"Ya know.. I've got me a griffin too... haven't been able to find the little bugger though." The fishman took a step forwards, gazing down at the sandy ground as he spoke. "Poor guy.... I don't even know if he's alright," Don's voice quivered a little, picturing the cute little griffin in his mind. "Damn storm just had to hit us.." His voice trailed off at that last bit, clearing his throat once more to speak up clearer.

"And ya know, just looking at yer' damn face pisses me off..." Don continued, stopping his approach as he finally looked up to stare it in the eye. "..cause you're just a shitty imitation." Don's skin hardened, raring for a fight as the tiny scales which covered his shark skin grew resilient unlike before. This was the signature defence which had made him known to many, given a name which aptly described his might; the 'Iron Shark'.

Geralf squinted at the sight of the creature; it looked like a regular lion except for the insanely huge fangs reminiscent of a saber toothed cat which was supposedly to have gone extinct centuries ago, the island seemed to fall back into prehistoric age. Maybe the meteorite that was supposed to wipe them out didn’t reach the place at all, and then it is safe to assume that it had been the case. “Another troublesome creature appeared, why won’t they just let me rest?” Geralf sounded pissed off; trouble did always seem to find its way to Geralf as he did his utmost best to avoid situations like these.

The lion’s muscle tensed up as it sized the three preys before him, taking some time on each individual before moving to the other. And as its instincts kicked in, predators usually goes for the most vulnerable prey presented to it and this time, it was none other than Geralf who looked the weakest of the trio. Well, when compared to a human, fishman has a huge advantage strength-wise but, the hulking human beside him wasn’t just an ordinary guy.

“Oh heaven’s no-“

Geralf’s eyes widened as he took a large gulp of his own saliva, he noticed the lion bore its claws like a switch blade, widening its stance and its hind legs lowered. Then it lunged, its long stride allowed it to close its distance fast despite the heavy built. Then as it closed the gap with Geralf, the lion raised its right paw and made a swipe with its claws. “Dammit he’s fast!” Faster than anything he had come up against, Geralf could only leap sideways to avoid being cut into ribbons as he tumbled then back to his feet, dust were stirred off the ground and covered the fire partially, weakening the flame.

“Guys! Any idea on how to slow him down?!”

Bronz turned his attention to Don, as the fishman started popping his neck sideways and spouting words about yet another griffin. The emotion seemed to have fueled Don with confidence and anger, walking towards the beast. Also, he observed the now defined scales. That was some handy fishy perk. Though the question was, if those could withstand against the beast’s oversized fangs.

As much as he would’ve preferred to just sit still or lie down for a much needed rest, the crimson brawn stood. He was obligated to unless he wanted to be an easy meal. Maybe that was all the beast wanted, an easy meal. They still had some uncooked dino, they should give it away, maybe it’d satisfy the hungry cat and then maybe it’d decide to leave after. But then he was proven wrong when the beast pounced forward, deliberately choosing Geralf as target for its lethal claws despite Don was in front of it.

The set of shredders whiffed as it missed the doctor. Standing close, Bronz could feel how much power was on that swing with the generated wind brushing his hair and skin. It was a force you wouldn’t want to be caught with. He didn’t even have to duck, the doctor was tall, and so was the aim. Though now that he was face to face with it, he was slightly bummed. It wasn’t no griffin, instead a hybrid of lion and tiger. He could’ve sworn he had seen shadows of wings flapping, guess those were just branches.

I could fight it, but I don’t have enough in me, so I’ll just back you guys up.” Bronz said, replying the doctor while further assessing their situation. “I’ve got some sort of a plan though. It seems that it’s singling you out, so why not use it to our advantage. You play as bait, so while it’s busy, Don and I will give it a good hard whack. How’s that?

Cocky bastard.

The sabre-toothed creature chose not to take on Don who was face to face with it, but instead ran to the side and bolted for Geralf. Don had been prepared to take on an attack from the front, so its sudden rush to the side was something that he couldn't react to promptly. But that didn't deter him, and he shot after it immediately. Given the direction it was headed in, Geralf would be its target. That wasn't a good thing for the hammerhead.

As Don pushed off with his right foot, he used his left as a pivot and spun around. The fishman sprinted after the lion, seeing it strike at Geralf. It had a hefty strike, the quack doctor dodging out of the way in time. Oso spoke out, giving voice to a plan. "Already on it!" Don shouted back, bolting towards the large feline.

Sand splashed in every and all directions as Don leapt from the ground, a more direct jump than a high one. His torso was tilted back to the right, right arm pulled back and reared for a punch. His left foot landed on the sand below, the momentum carrying him forwards like a figure skater on ice while his right foot was still off of the ground. The lion turned to see him right as he neared, but it was too late as the fishman pulled his torso in along with his right arm. The iron shark's right foot slammed down on the ground in front of him, completely halting his momentum. His torso pulled in and tilted down with his right arm shooting out for a punch. All of the kinetic energy flew from his right foot up through his torso and into his arm as Don slammed his fist down onto the lion's hind.

The punch caused the air to vibrate, and the lion flew to the side towards Oso. "You're up!"

‘Are you crazy?! Im going to get murdered by this bloodthirsty creature!’

Geralf silently reacted to Bronz’s plan; he would have to risk limbs and wits to outrun the creature which is twice as fast as he is, though the doctor was pretty much confident that he could outsmart the creature many times over but that is if he could get away unscathed. And just as he dodged the huge claw from tearing him into pieces, he could see Don make an effort on his peripheral, successfully pushing the creature back with his attack.

The creature growled loudly at the trio, possibly from the pain from Don’s attack or just another form of intimidation and to show his prey that he wouldn’t back down even if he’s handicapped. Then again locking its sights on the weakest member, he just wouldn’t rest until he gets one and even the battlefield a bit. “Take your aim guys! It’s ready to pounce anytime now!” Then the lion dashed, its heavy paws sank into the sand which bursts into every direction. Growling as it launched itself upward, raising its claws again for the second time for another chance at Geralf.

The fishman was now a bit faster than the feline now its airborne, he ran towards it and slid underneath, cutting all the sand that had slowed him down as he came down short of the distance he intended to. “Oh fuck!” The creature landed down hard on the sand, the sand came up like waves and crashing onto the fishman like droplets of rain. “Uunnggghhhh!” Geralf managed to raise his arm over his eyes but bits of sand had managed to find their way to the fishman’s eyes, “Sand got into my eyes!”

Geralf did his best to kick himself backwards as he couldn’t make out what the creature’s next move was, and without his vision, he is just as effective as live bait. He could only hear the growling and roaring sounds as well as voices of his companions. The fishman did his best to rub dust off his eyes, as tears were now forming as the eyes’ natural defense.

‘Blast it! Am I going to be eaten?! This couldn’t possibly be happening to me!’

What he meant by backup was more like sitting a quick trap, putting only a little strain to his body, but he had his fists clenched anyway. With Don hitting the beast and sending it his way, he didn’t have a choice, he had to strike the opportunity even if his fresh-stitched wound would open up again. Well, he had two doctors in company, no sweat. Though the lion-tiger was able to recover before it could reach Bronz’s proximate zone. So it wasn’t just ferocious, also tenacious, and angrier than ever, taking a good look at the three of them as if trying to reconsider its target.

The beast then resumed, picking Geralf once again. Were hammerhead sharks really that tasty? Bronz wondered. Or, it could be natural selection, the beast picking on the most vulnerable prey. He had an idea, one he previously had. He took whatever was left with the butchered dino; nothing was better than free and effortless meal. “Hey… Hey you cat!” Bronz called out the beast just when it was about to swipe the blind shark-boy, waving a dino meat in the air. It was a successful distraction as the beast looked towards him. “Yes you, stupid cat! Here, come! I’ve got something for you!” Ripping a bone with an ample amount of meat clinging on it and tossing it near the beast.

Though the lion was showing little interest to his offer, maybe it preferred a live one? This one was no vulture. He walked forward, a little pissed off, moving calculated steps, constantly baiting the lion’s attention on the dino meat. “Take it you bastard! Here, it’s all yours! Tossing everything forward. Fuck it, it didn’t matter. What mattered was, he already had bought Geralf time to move and Don, to deliver another hard whack.

The overgrown cat was more resilient than it looked, tanking Don's shot and not even getting stunned long enough for anymore hits. Instead it continued its chase after Geralf. Persistent fucker. Don grit his teeth, sprinting after it once more. The strategy made it easier on him and Oso, but chasing the damned thing was a pain in the ass.

On the bright side for Geralf, Oso thought up a smart idea to distract the creature. Ripping apart the meat and calling out to the beast, the smell of meat drew its attention. Don wondered if the smell of their meat was what drew it in the first place, which was possible given how strong the weird fungus creature's natural smell was.

With the large cat looking off towards Oso, this gave Don an window of opportunity. Keep stealthy. The fishman stayed low, moving moderately quickly as he moved up behind it. Getting in striking distance, Don quickly accelerated and swung another punch at its gut. His fist slammed against its body, causing the beast to wail in pain and stumble to the side. Don thought about using more sharp attacks rather than blunt force, but chose against it. A beast like this would have valuable and tough hide, no doubt an accessory for victors. Cutting the beast in their fight would only harm the hide and depreciate its value.

After landing his punch, Don kicked off with his left foot and used his right as a pivot to spin. This time Don made sure that it wouldn't get near Geralf, spinning counter clockwise and shooting his left leg out in a kick. The follow-up strike had the weight of his legs behind it, pushing it tumbling over near Oso, knocked back a good distance. "Wrap this up, we're making too much noise," he called over to Oso.

Geralf breathed a sigh of relief, Bronz’s decision of using the leftover meat as bait had been fruitful as the cat had been distracted for Don to land a few punches on it. The doctor had enough time to gather himself up again as he stood up and casually walked towards the large cat and pulls out his jet injector, then unbuttoned the pouch on his back side and pulls out a vial of neurotoxin then pushes it in the slot. “Easy there feline, this won’t hurt a bit.” Geralf spoke softly at the struggling cat; he must have a few broken ribs by now and maybe a punctured lung from Don’s attack earlier, though it didn’t really matter anyway. Those organic lungs won’t be of much us soon now that Geralf had already taken interest on it.

He looked down grimly at the cat, still kicking and swiping its claws at whoever got close enough. Its eyes watch closely at the fishman as Geralf slowly circled to the cat’s back side where he was safe from the claws. “Hush now.. after this, it will be all over.. you won't even feel a thing afterwards.” The fishman knelt down as he got close, placing the needles on its neck and pushed it in, the needles pierced the cat’s skin as Geralf pulls the trigger and the injector hissed. As the contents of the vial emptied, he could see that the cat’s skin shuddered. It didn't take long for the toxin to take its effect on the tough mucle fibers. And with a look of contentment, he got back up.

“Are you feeling it now? Painful isn't it? The pain as the toxin breaks down your nervous system, though it won’t be enough to kill you, but enough to incapacitate you.”

A dark smile escaped Geralf’s lips, oh how he missed this sensation. It had been far too long after his last dissection, his hands were already itching as he placed the jet injector back on the pouch. He then turned at the other two, with a look of gratitude. The temperature had already dropped a few centigrade, the fire that Geralf put so much effort into building had now been left with cinders and smoke, the crackling sound from the kindle had left the serene silence of the place and only the sound of wafting waves crashing onto the shore.

Bronz’s effort was a success as Don landed a crippling blow that left the beast unable to move. And just like what the baldie had suggested, it was time to wrap this little intermission number up, literal wrap as he planned to bind the beast with his hair. But even before he could start summoning his mystic power, Geralf moved in and did something strange to the big cat. He was glad he didn’t have to strain himself, though he had to be honest, what Geralf was doing was creeping him out, especially what he was saying.

Observed, he all did. Giving curious glances at Don. One thing was clear, Geralf was a lot of things: a weirdo, a nerdo and a creepo. Good thing, they were friends, at least to him anyway. Anyone who he’d shared barbecue with, was a friend. It seemed Geralf had heard him, reciprocating his assumption with a smile. “What’re ya planning to do with that lion?” Shooting his response. He then picked up Don’s gourd on the sand and drank. Would’ve been nice if it was booze. Once he was done, he tossed it back to Don and gave his thanks.

By the way, do you guys have fresh bandage to cover this? Or any clean clothes.” Pointing his wound with his thumb, his eyes moving back and forth between the two fishmen. Not waiting for a response, he sat near the bonfire, putting more firewood that Geralf had gathered to enliven the fire and the mood. Finally! He could take some good rest, wishing no trouble would pop out from the darkness again. Speaking of darkness, he wondered about his ultimate sidekick Teddy and his super fab ship, hoping they’d be alright and survive through the night unscathed.

With his last two hits, Don had aimed to further injure the creature before knocking it back and dazing it. The beast could take a real beating, but its simple minded nature lead it to be fairly easy to deal with. If it was just Don and the creature locked in a ring for example, it wouldn't be that much of an issue. But Geralf on the other hand was at risk of injury, and prior, Don had been caught off guard. So it was at this point, when he had sent the lion back with a kick, where he was expecting Oso to finally subdue the creature.

And yet, the unexpected happened. Instead of Oso moving in to attack the injured beast, it was Geralf who did the deed. The substance he injected into the creature appeared to work fast, Don lowering his guard in relief. It seemed he was lacking in a specimen after they ate the last creature they found, and this was his second choice. Glancing over to Oso, the man seemed to be rather sceptical of the hammerhead's activities.

"Don't worry bout it. He's a good guy at heart," Don said, walking closer in Oso's direction. He noticed the man picking up his gourd, alongside the exposed wounds which were now clearly visible. "Shit like this'll help the good doctor treat ya better, speaking of which," he paused, turning back to look to the doctor. "Hey Geralf, how bout you treat his injuries now? I can go take that beast's body back up into the whale for later."

Don reached out and caught his gourd, tying it back up to his sash. The moon above was beginning to rise up into the clear starry sky, scant light illuminating the area aside from that which came from their fire. The fishman couldn't tell time from the sky, but he could tell that it was getting late, and he didn't have too much interest in staying on this island much longer.

“Hmmm, I'll leave the bandaging to you. It's quite simple.”

Geralf sank his hand into his pouch and pulled out a rolled bandage then passed it to Bronz, and then he turned his attention back to the feline. Circling and inspecting his new toy, it was still breathing though only slightly. He could see that the muscles were twitching, the neurotoxin is working by overloading the nerves and the cat won’t be able to move soon. Next, he inspected its head; the cat’s mouth was gaping and its tongue sticking out, a pool of saliva had already formed underneath. ‘His features looks cute, this one needs something more menacing and intimidating. Maybe a mandrill’s head would do.’

The doctor then stuck out his hand and touched the feline’s foreleg, dragging his hand on the surface and into the joint, raising it up and moving it. ‘The range of motion is too limited, this one needs something that could cover the peripherals, something more.. flexible.. Like a human arm.’ He nodded at this thought and got back up, crossing his left arm on his body and the other caressing his chin; he already had everything in mind to fix the creature into his ideal form, then the next step would be dragging it back to the ship which is a huge problem, the cat will drown.

Geralf turned towards Don and shot a question at him, “So where’s the ship? I need to get this creature back and study it.” The doctor thought that maybe Don knew where Amos and Dahlia were, and that maybe they might come and fetch the fishman duo out of the prehistoric island. His hands were already itching into cutting up his new specimen, oh how he would savor the moment when his scalpel cuts into the feline's skin. Then something hit him as he turned towards the whale, "Wait a minute, the whale swallowed us but we didn't get digested right? Maybe we could ride it back to where the others are?"

"Fine by me, I can help myself, like, how hard can it be?" Bronz responded, reaching for the bandage. He then started working, wrapping the bandage from his chest down towards his belly, some fumbling but he was able to manage. When he was finally done, he proceeded to lay down on the sand, listening to the two fishmen discussing about their ride.

"Even hearing it a couple of times, riding inside that whale is a suicide, but then again you two are fishmen, so it's fine I guess?" Bronz butted in, and continued. "Though there's another option for a much, hmmm... I'd say normal travelling. As I've said, I have a ship just needed a little searching. Anyways, you guys can hop in. I'm in a hurry but it wouldn't hurt to drop you off. That's for stitching me up and the barbecue." His lips parted, a smile for a never ending gratitude. It was his way to get even.

"...And I have a nice nomadic booze in there that can fire you up!" Bronz teasing, coupled with a wink. He slowly sat, putting little strain on his belly, and tossed some woods again to fuel the fire. "How's that for a plan eh?"

To Don's surprise, Geralf left the bandaging to Oso himself. It was true that with a body like his, healing up naturally wouldn't be too bad either. But still, the appearance of those wounds were rather nasty. Whatever, I'll leave the diagnosis to him.

The hammerhead began inspecting his new prize, checking it up and doing whatever prepping he needed. Don just sighed and stretched his arms, listening as Geralf spoke about the whale. "Well I don't know about finding Amos and them. Navigating the grand line is tough and all." The fishman paused for a second, Oso speaking up about his own ship as well.

"No worries," Don said, shaking his head slightly. The ship was an enticing deal, especially the booze, but he couldn't quite leave this whale alone after all that. And in terms of time, him and Geralf weren't exactly in a situation to be liberal with their time. "The whale's plenty fine, and we've got places to be quickly. I'm sorry to have to leave so suddenly after meeting ya, but we can't let our crew-mates wait much longer."

"C'mon ya basket case," Don said, walking over to Geralf. With a grunt, he heaved the lion up onto his shoulders and walked over to the shores. "Take care of yourself now," he called back to the man, walking into the water and kicking off with his legs as he swam towards the whale, lion lifted up above the water. His water soaked legs slapped out onto the whale's head as he stepped onto it from out of the water, dragging the lion along up its head and towards that blow-hole like entrance into the whale.

The doctor couldn’t really tell whether the waters on Grand Line are far nastier compared to the Blues, he hasn’t been far away from home and swimming along Fishman Island didn’t seem to be that hard either. The moonlight illuminated the calm waters only to be broken by the ripple as Geralf watched Don heaved the cat over his shoulder and proceeds down the shore and got up the whale’s back. He then turned and nodded at Bronz, acknowledging his company.

“El Oso was it? As I mentioned earlier, avoid all unnecessary conflicts to prevent that wound from reopening.” Then turning around and walked back into his companion, his feet broke through the soft wafting of the waves crashing on the shoreline then dipping into the water and climbed on top of the whale and took his place beside Don.

“Don, I think the whale has gotten attached to you.” Geralf said teasingly, “I wonder what those two are up to now, knowing Dahlia, I think she’s up her antics and good thing there’s Amos to keep her in check.” He then walked beside the cat to make sure that the toxin hadn’t worn off yet, maybe he needs to give it another shot but then he thought that the dosage might go over and would kill his new specimen.

“Then I need to get a few more things and have my laboratory set up.” Taking the cat by its tail, Geralf dragged it onto the gaping hole on top of the whale and pushed the cat inside and soon followed through. Surprisingly, the inside of the whale was spacious; it could fit maybe four to five 200 square foot rooms in there, and he could have all the privacy he wanted as he stole another glance at the cat. ‘You and I will be having so much fun later.’ He grinned slightly from the thought.

Alright then! Seems you lot has made up your mind already, so I won’t bother anymore. I wish you good fortunes my fishy friends and you may find your crewmates!” Bronz enthusiastically spoke, now standing to set his friends off, chest out looking so proud. He could’ve given them both a super manly shake, but they looked like they were in a hurry that much. Friendship could go beyond handshakes anyway. The only thing that mattered were the memories they shared together--barbecue by the bonfire and the thrill in taking down the lion-tiger--though how limited those might’ve been.

Don’t worry about me now, I’m a hero after all. Ha! You guys also take care of yourselves.” Bronz responded to both with grin so wide that his jaws threatened to pop. He watched as the two fishmen swam and climbed over the whale. “Oi… don’t be shy to tell the world that you’ve meet the incredible hero, El Oso the Hammer of Justice! Just don’t tell them how I misbehaved and groaned. Ku...mahaha~cough~ha~cough~!” Bronz choked to his own breath, but still continued. “...watch me in the papers! Later fish-boys!” Waving until they had vanished into the darkness.

Now back to reality, he was alone in the dinosaur infested island. He got fire though; his only company. He better keep it alive or else… pfff it didn’t matter, let them dinos come and he’d send them back to kingdom come. Rest, he would. And in the morning, he’d look for Teddy and his ship. He lied down back on his sandy bed. Countless stars, sparkling beads. The moon casting a radiant glow. What an awesome view! But nothing could ever be awesome than meeting new friends, no?
