From the strange man's reaction, it seemed Don's assumption was accurate. He seemed excited at the revelation, even forcing himself to sit straight up despite his injuries. Oughta get those wounds checked later.. Speaking of treating wounds, Don shifted his eyes over to Geralf. The doctor moved forwards, seeming to be fully trusting that the man wouldn't attack them. As Geralf begun checking on the creature, a parched feeling welled up in Don's throat. Ah shit, did I lose my stuff? In the midst of all the recent chaos, he'd forgotten to even check for his belongings. The fishman's hand ran along the rim of his pants, searching for his things. He didn't carry much and travelled light, but that didn't mean his stuff didn't break off or fall loose in the insane storm that caused him to fall overboard. "Come on, come on... ah, there we go," he muttered, the cold feeling of metal on the tips of his fingers. My pistol, he said, reaching for his left, "and my gourd." Unfortunately, it seemed that his second flintlock was missing. But oh well, it was good enough that he didn't loose everything including the clothes on his back. Uncapping the top, Don tilted his head back and lifted the gourd to his dry lips. Heavenly liquid poured out and ran down his throat, Don feeling just that much more refreshed. After all, what was a fishman without water. Snapping out of his euphoria, the fishman's eyes focused and looked back down to the man. "From what I could see, there weren't any other ships here. Maybe it was on the other side of the island," Don explained, shrugging his shoulders as to the man's ship. He felt bad telling the man that his ship wasn't here, but that was the truth. "And we didn't quite crash here, wasn't exactly the way we intended to arrive though," Don said, scratching his cheek and the scant amount of ragged facial hair on it. "It's a long story anyways, I'll explain it later." Geralf spoke up, mentioning the time. He was right, Don definitely didn't want to be around here when night struck. It was scary enough in the daytime. "Sounds fine to me," Don said to the burly man, capping his gourd back off and tying it to his waist. Barbecue sounded great at the moment, although Don glanced at Geralf slightly from the corner of his eye. Given how the fishman was checking it out, it seemed that he would want to analyse it and test the creature out. Ah well, there's plenty of other creatures on this island. More importantly on the topic of creatures, the whale was probably waiting out there nearby the island's shores. "Alright, well let's get a move on. I think it'd be good to go back this way that I came from, it'll be the shortest path to the shores," Don explained, dusting himself off and stretching to prepare for heading back. "I've got a way for us to scan around the island once we get there. At least, I think we'll be able to do that. Hopefully," Don said, concluding it with a sheepish smile and one last glance at Bronz. |

The sun had already moved behind the horizon, the orange glow had already turned to a cool bluish-black hue with stars comparable to diamonds twinkling. Geralf quickly scanned the surroundings for something he could use to drag the carcass back to the shoreline as Don directed which was the shortest route back, the shorter the better but that doesn’t mean it is the safest either. The doctor looked to his right and found some vines hanging off a branch, and without a second thought he quickly ran towards it and gave it a moderately strong yank which caused the entirety of the branch to break off from the trunk. “Good, this seems durable.” Geralf whispered as he gave it a tug, then he got back to the carcass and knelt beside it. He carefully made a loop with the end of the vine and with the other end he wrapped it around to strengthen it, then fastening it around the carcass. “Alright, I’m ready to go. You came from that direction right?” Directing his question towards Don. But there was one problem, the only light source they had is blocked by the thick primordial leaves. The visibility was down to no more than a few feet, and it was during this time that the wilderness thrives as to escape the heat from the sun. The night was their time and it gave off an eerie feeling that something is looming from the cover of the darkness, ready to pounce without any warnings. “Damn, this won’t do. The darkness is shrouding the whole area and our only light source is being blocked.” Geralf released his hold of the vine and went straight for the nearest tree he could find, raising his hand and felt the rough skin of the trunk. He could see that the leaves were needle like; it was a good sign since resin tends to be the domain of coniferous trees, the fishman then used his strength to tear down the rough skin and the resin came oozing out in an instant. “Now this we can use.” The type of resin that came oozing out is called rosin; it is extremely viscous and has a faintly yellow or brown in color. Snapping off a branch and coating the end portion with the resin, Geralf then got back to the other two. “Bronz was it? I noticed that ability you used earlier can heat things up, maybe you could light the resin up and let’s be on our way to the shoreline.” Edited by Nixiv, Apr 18 2018, 10:04 PM.

Bronz was now standing, never thought the act could be that taxing. He still looked somewhat fine, except for the red stain on his white tank, running from his left chest down towards his hip. But inside, he was actually beat, heart shattered. He then moved towards the carcass as the baldie started to blabber. Bending over, he groped for something in his boot. When his hand swung forth, it was already holding a red glassy blade. He didn’t know when was the last time he’d used the redsand dagger, even forgotten that he had tucked it in his boot, and just now remembered it. Glad to have a handy tool. Butchering the dino was delayed a bit as Bronz’s attention turn to the baldie once more. He got bothered upon hearing they didn’t see his ship, but was assured that it could be docked at the opposite side of the island. Only replying with an agreeing nod. He looked back at the carcass, though when he was about to cut a hind leg, the hammerhead fella came back where he’d gone to and proceeded to tie his kill with vines. A brow rose to a quizzical degree. Well, he guessed the hammerhead was such a glutton that he wanted to bring the whole dino back. With his physique, plus the blue baldie, protein requirement was through the roof. It was fine as long as they’d drag it by themselves. Before he knew it, the night was already upon them. Time seemed to be in fast-forward mode on this island. Could be because vegetations were thick and canopies loomed, one wouldn’t notice time like the usual. This was going to be troublesome, with a dead dino beside them, the smell of easy meal could draw out more wilder ones. In his current state, he didn’t want fighting any more dinos. All he wanted was to eat and have some good night rest. All of a sudden, the hammerhead broke for the nearest tree, examining it like the way he did on the dino. Confirmed weirdo. Bronz looked for an answer towards the baldie. “What’s he doing? Shouldn’t we start walking right now?” The hammerhead came back after some time, bringing a resin with him that which he’d asked for Bronz to light it up using his heat base ability. He was rather impressed, he couldn’t have thought something as random as that. But then again everyone had their own interests. Not only a weirdo, aslo a nerdo. Now if he’d use his new ability once more it might weaken him than he already was, or not, if he’d control it down. And then he remembered that redsand glass was a good heat conductor. Picking up a stone, he then summoned his body heat, a good mixture of frustration, from recent heartbreak and the heat from his fever, let a minimal amount coursed through one arm, to his fist and onto the dagger. It glowed glossier than ever. With one quick motion, he struck the stone against the dagger, showering sparks that combusted the resin-glazed branch. A torch was made. There was nothing more primitive than creating fire. “Here’s your torch.” He passed it down, proud to what he'd done. |

"Yeah it was, uh, back in that direction.." As Don turned back around, he noticed how dark it had become. It seemed Geralf noticed the issue as well, speaking up about his concerns. Don furrowed his brows, surprised at how fast it became so dark. As he was heading here, he had noticed that it was getting darker, but he had attributed that mostly to the denser foliage. But given how dark it was now, it seemed that the time was closer to midnight than noon. Even if the dense trees were making it darker, it would likely still be relatively dark once they left this forest. Turning back around to the two of them, Don furrowed his brows as Geralf headed off towards something. "No idea," Don said to Oso, shrugging his shoulders. "But he's oughta have some sorta plan, so just wait a minute...don't worry, he's a smart guy. A doctor too, so we can get your wounds checked later." Don shot the man a faint smile, eyes drifting back off to their surroundings. It wasn't long before fire lit the area, and Don smiled at their impromptu fire. "Alright, sounds good." Readjusting his coat, Don would turn off and begin to head back the way he came. "Let's go." The way back was similar to his way here, heading back through the forest. The dense plant-life would eventually lessen in number, evidence of moving in the correct direction. Some noises could be heard occasionally, but only rarely. Still, it was more frequent than when he had arrived. And not only did the sounds increase in quantity, but sound. They grew louder, some more shrill, and some more guttural. The fire was comforting though, like a safeguard from the creatures lurking deep within the dark. As the trees parted and the ground shifted from dirt to sand, Don would stop and look out at the waters. Looking up, the sky was truly dark now. Around midnight? Possibly a bit earlier. The island was mostly uninhabited, with little other than their own torch to lighten the surrounding area and make it seem brighter. It was quite different from a populous island with bustling activity all throughout the night. "Hold on," Don said, holding his hand out back to signal them to stop. Putting his index and thumb to his mouth, Don would let out a loud whistle, piercing the emptiness of the area. The fishman would wait a second, listening quietly before yelling out, "Hey, you still here?" He waited a few more second, turning back to Geralf and Oso slightly embarrassed. "Looks like I was wrong-" But suddenly, he was cut off as a sound came from out at the water. The tide rose, water pushed out of the way as a large whale surfaced. The light reflected in its eye, staring straight at Don. "Nope, looks like I was right. This whale is what took us here," Don said, turning to the two of them. |

“Yeah thanks.” Geralf said as he was handed back the makeshift torch, the resin produced a smoky flame and it looked like it would hold on much longer when compared to a regular torch. As Don led the way back to the shoreline, Geralf held out the torch to illuminate the way and yes it looked easier to walk on this path where there seemed to be lesser fauna and it made Geralf wonder how Don found this path. It was as if it was premade, like something had been treading the path for quite some time now. The branches were snapped along the pathway, scattered on the ground, and the grass had been trampled over the soil and it looks fresh. ‘The tracks looks fresh.. Something had used this path moments ago..’ The doctor kept the thought to himself as to not spook the other two though he is confident that those two could handle themselves fairly well more than he could himself. As they continued along the path, Geralf felt a cold gust coming from the direction ahead, it had mixed with the stale, humid air from the forest and it felt really nice. The shoreline was the same as it had been earlier, though the water was noticeably calm. Geralf watched as Don whistled and then the same whale emerged from the shore, ‘This whale looks tame, but why swallow us?’ “Let’s make a camp here, treading in this darkness would be too difficult. You guys wait here while I gather some wood and start the fire going.” And with that Geralf left for the woods nearby and got whatever wood and tinder he could find and got back as quickly as he can. He stuck the torch upright on the sand and proceeded to arrange the wood in a tepee and placed the tinder inside, and then he got back to the torch and sticks it inside which combusted in an instant. He looked at the other two, weary and exhausted, Geralf knew they had to get something to eat but hunting at this hour would be too dangerous. Sigh. “I guess I need to let this one go.. Maybe we could hunt for another specimen later, for now we need to fill up.” And then Geralf turns his attention to the carcass, “Anybody knows how to cook?” |

The trek back to the beach where the baldie had come from was hassle free. Lucky, considering the island - basing from the dino he’d killed - was most probably infested with them nasty creatures. And talking about luck, what were the chances of him meeting a doctor in some prehistoric island eh? Not to mention a fishman, a good-natured one if his guts was right. He’d hit a jackpot. Maybe the starts were aligned. He wasn’t a superstitious man, and yet he looked up into the sky. Baka! So many were aligned. All of a sudden, baldie held out his hand, a universal signal of stop, then whistled. Bronz only observed, he didn’t really care that much. He just wanted to crash… and eat of course. Another weirdo alert! While the hammerhead liked to talk to himself, the baldie on the other hand preferred the darkness. Or so he thought. The surface of the water broke and emerging out from it was a gigantic whale; its eyes glowing red, reflecting the torch. As embarrassing and uncharacteristically as he had to admit, it scared the hell out of him. “Oh yeah? Man… how cool is that!? Sadly i can’t ride on it, I’ll drown to death” He spoke excitedly, exhaustion seemed to have been lifted as he moved towards the edge of the beach careful not to get wet, while examining the whale from afar. Probably it wasn’t so smart to share a little secret of his, but these two fishmen weren’t giving off any vibe that could cause any alarm. When he swiveled around a bonfire was already blazing and crackling as woods devoured by fire. Oh that was quick. He then moved closer, heard the hammerhead asking if anyone knew how to cook. How could it be hard, no? He took out his dagger again and tossed it towards hammerhead. “Just cut a hind leg and grill it. Sorry, I’d do it myself but I’m tired.” Staring back and forth between the two fishmen, gauging if there were some reactions. “Do I sound demanding for a stranger? Ku….mahahaha! Just this one time.” |

Don smirked, seeing the man slightly startled at the whale. Geralf had already seen it, so it didn't come as a surprise that he didn't care much. Still don't know how Geralf came to. It was a fact after all that he woke up in the whale alone, without seeing any traces of the eccentric doctor. From how he was out and about the island, it looked like he woke up before Don. "Yeah it's pretty cool," Don said, mumbling the last part as he let out a yawn. Oso mentioned something about drowning, but Don didn't pay it much mind. In his current mental state, only rest and food was of importance. Geralf left to go get wood, and Don didn't try to fight against it. At another time he might have offered to help, but right now he was just exhausted. Who wouldn't be in his position. Instead he just shuffled over to the edge of the shores and sat down, a few meters away from Oso. Don had fought 4 separate fights against tough opponents, passed out from his wounds, woke up on a week later, then fell overboard when his ship got hit by a storm the same day he woke up. And then he passed out again before waking up here who knows how many days later, inside of a whale. Saying that he was tired would be an understatement. Technically he was sleeping for the entire past few weeks, but he was still mentally drained. And don't forget about the issue of food. He only ate once in between passing out the first time and passing out the second. At the moment he wasn't feeling hungry, but there was no doubt in his mind that he was completely deprived of nutrition. "Ah, here we go," he said, grunting as he struggled onto his feet and walked over. Oso took out a knife and tossed it over to Geralf, Don reaching out and grabbing it mid-air. "Let me cut it for ya. It'll go faster." Brandishing the knife, Don would crouch down and begin slicing away. It only took a short moment, making some quick lacerations around the leg before completely severing it with a quick swipe. The creature didn't have any fur or thick skin, so thankfully Don didn't have to waste time skinning it as well. They could just grill it like as such and peel the skin off later if need be. "Here," Don said, putting it near Geralf for him to take. Don would begin cutting away again, taking longer before he finally stood up with two more legs, one in each hand. He wasn't sure if they each wanted a full leg, but Don was more than fine with eating an extra leg. "Don't worry about it," Don said, looking over at Oso. Heading over to the fire, Don grabbed two long wooden sticks and impaled the meat with them, stabbing one end into the ground, angled with the meat hanging over the fire on the other end. |

Geralf could see that both Don and Bronz were weary; Don had recently battle formidable opponents and looked quite exhausted, then Bronz whom he had just met and had no idea what he went through but maybe it was difficult as well. The doctor braced himself as Bronz tossed the knife, but Don had caught it midway and volunteered to butcher the carcass. Geralf was a bit disappointed by it as he wanted to carve the carcass as he actually missed the feeling of dissecting something with his own hands. He looked at How Don carved it piece by piece, he had some skill on him but it was quite rough around the edges. He laced finesse. Geralf thought that there are only two possibilities here; either Don himself is also a doctor or a chef by profession, the doctor could see how he got through the muscle and went directly into the joint to separate it from the hip. Good technique. He definitely had a medical background but chefs also practice this technique. The raw meat had quickly turned into a nice brown color, though the smoke didn’t really have an aromatic smell to it that could somewhat enhanced the taste, it was already as good as they can get in the middle of nowhere; the juices had already started to drip down from the stick, it was to be expected when you smoke a meat since it would force the moisture out which will effectively preserve it and save it for later consumption. Shifting his attention towards Bronz, “So Don had mention that you have a wound on your chest? What exactly happened?” |

Bronz watched as the blue baldie started working on the carcass. It was a little surprising since he had tossed it towards the hammerhead, didn’t think the baldie would snatch the dagger at the last moment. As the butchering continued, he couldn’t help but muse about the prospect of having to eat a grilled dino, other than that his mind was really unoccupied, and now recalled some words that were thrown. He did hear the hammerhead fella saying about letting the carcass go with a hint of misgiving in his voice. Bronz wondered what was his true intention in bringing down the dino if not be eaten? He found himself confused than seconds ago. But then when he sniffed a whiff of cooking meat, everything puffed out like a smoke. Anticipation had gripped Bronz by the throat. He felt like a child, salivating as scent filled his lungs and stomach. His attention got shifted - thankfully, because if it wasn’t he would’ve had snatched the meat already - by the hammerhead’s inquiry. It rather came from out of nowhere since he remembered it was just him and the baldie, or as he now knew as Don, who were talking. So he guessed hammerhead had ears behind his back? “Oh, this? I was fighting a rat-man and his cyborg minion. The bastard got me a good slice to remember him forever.” He flinched subtly, as the events flashed in his mind. Not because of the fight but how his heart was shattered that day. Shrugging off he creeping sadness, Bronz directed his attention back towards the grill away from the hammerhead. Last thing he wanted was to have him on the spot. As of now he didn’t like talking things out and be reminded. He didn’t want to confront it just yet. “How about you guys, how in the hell did you end up with that freaking whale? And you mentioned, crashed? Hmmm! Whales don’t crash. Shifting towards Don with a teasing smile. He had to stir the spotlight off away from him before it’d get so bright he wouldn’t have a place to hide. “By the way, I didn’t really catch your names earlier guys. So before I start calling you both funny names inside my head, you should introduce yourself. Ku..mahahaha!” Which he already, ha! |

"I was being figurative," Don said, walking up to Oso with the meat. It wasn't masterful cooking or anything, but the despite the creature's disgusting fungus appearance, it seemed to possess a really good natural smell. Whether or not the aroma translated to taste was yet to be seen. "Here," he said, holding out the pole in his right hand for the man to take. After handing it over, the fishman shifted his own piece of meat to his right hand, that being his dominant one. With a sigh, he sat down on the sand of the shores, fire flickering not far away. "Anyways, my guess is as good as anyone's, but we fell overboard in a storm... and the whale probably ate us." Don glanced down at the meat in his hand, looking back over to the whale in the distance and wondering if he should feed it. In most cases it would be wise to feed the animal in hopes of winning its favour, but the thing was so huge that the leg of meat on Don's stick wouldn't matter. He would need to find a colossal creature, and even then he probably wouldn't be strong enough to kill something that big. "Name's Don by the way. He's Geralf." Don finally bit into the meat, savouring the sensation of food as it lasted. The meat was fairly tender, possibly from being hit so many times. And living up to the reputation of the smell, it tasted decent as well. Surprising since they didn't add any salt or other flavours. "By the way Geralf, think you can patch up Oso over here?" Don asked, looking over to Geralf. He'd lend a hand himself, but the good doctor seemed plenty skill-full at it on his own. |

Geralf took his own skewer to hand and managed a bite; the smoked raptor leg was chewy which was already expected since all those juices had gone to waste, but then he took another bite. The smoky flavor from the wood came to life as they hit his taste buds, then a burst of a strong bland texture afterwards but it tasted like chicken actually, though it is more sinewy and chewy. ‘Hmmm.. Not bad.’ He looked at the two as he continued chomping down on the leg and nodding at every word Don said, Geralf noticed how Bronz seemed to dodge his question, maybe he really did not want to talk about it or have his wound checked. Maybe it hit a nerve that caused him to remember something that he would rather forget. He really didn’t mind not looking over Bronz’s wound if he did not want to, but as Don insisted, he turned his attention towards Bronz. “I could do you a favor and take a look at it if you don’t mind.” Said Geralf as he took another bite of the sinewy leg, looking at it he noticed how far he had gone and all that’s left were a bit of meat and the bone is already visible. He then finished the last bit of meat, cleaning it off the bone and threw it away, licking his fingers afterwards. The warmth from the fire had been soothing, he was glad to have a bit of warmth and away from the cool, night air as looked keenly on the flame. The wood crackled underneath as the tepee shifted downwards. “The flames will soon exhaust itself, I’ll gather a few more firewood and maybe let’s call it a night?” He briefly glanced at the two before heading back into the darkness, just a few meters from the camp where he previously got a few kindling. And just as he got near the woods, a loud roar bursts through the stillness on the air; it was earsplitting and reverberated towards the dense woods. “What was that?!” Geralf braced himself of what was to come. |

Aside from chewing the idea of being eaten by a whale, which was by the way a hard one to swallow, the dino meat in contrary though was savory than anything he’d had for the past days. A little work could be done in terms of seasoning department yes, but hey, now wasn’t the time to be choosy. He gorged his share like a rabid beast, or more like a bear coming out in spring time after a long cold winter hibernation, totally forgetting the dino eggs. If he only had a tankard of booze, supper would’ve been perfect. “Hi Don… Hi Geralf…” Bronz responded giving each fishmen the most cursory of glances, his words muffled by a mouthfull. “Ops, where’s my table manners eh? Ku...ma-” His laugh broke, replaced by coughing as he got choked. Thankfully, even without water, it cleared off. He slightly massaged his throat, chest heaving hard up and down. “Man, this dino still got a fight left in her.” Grinning to his own joke and continued to eat. When he was done, he took off his tank, wincing in the process. Underneath was a makeshift bandage, trimmed clothes, wrapped around his entire torso by untrained hands. Dried blood caked all over it. Just then Geralf went off to pick up some firewoods. He then slowly unwrapped it, figured Geralf would be back in no time, so better be ready. Midway though he stopped. “Hey Don, mind if I take a swig with your gourd?” He was assuming it was some spirits of some sort, distilled in a fishmen way. The bandage had stuck to his wound, so he felt he needed boosting. Infights, he didn’t care about getting hurt, but a situation such as this, wherein pain was self-inflicted and slow, even the bravest of men would have some trouble. |

Don finished up the last of his meat, the savoury taste still lingering on his tongue. There was still plenty of meat left on the beast's corpse, but given Oso's injury, he felt it inappropriate to go cut off another chunk and start grilling. Tossing the skewer aside as Geralf begun to leave, Don nodded to the hammerhead's suggestion. "Sounds good." The fishman licked his lips, muttering to himself in fatigue. "I could use some damn rest..." The wind picked up slightly, Don taking in a breath of the fresh air. The cool air mixed in with the smell of fire as well as the meat, creating a fusion of aromas. Speaking of getting some rest, Don glanced back at the whale which was calmly floating some distance off the shores. I should pay the thing a visit before falling asleep. But breaking away from the looking at the whale, Oso's voice drew Don's attention back onto the island, asking if he could take a swig from the fishman's gourd. Don's eyes shifted downwards, looking at his bloodstained injury which he was unwrapping for Geralf. It was a rather ghastly sight to say the least. Don kept quiet for a second, thinking for a moment before reaching for his gourd and holding it out in his hand. "Fine by me. It's just water though, nothing to ease any pain." The fishman was about to toss the gourd over as a loud noise reverberated around the area. It was a beastly roar, so much so that it caused actual vibrations. Don's body immediately tensed up, dropping the gourd on the sand and staring out in the direction of its source. "Geralf what was that?" he called out, in the possibility that Geralf got a glimpse of whatever creature it was which made that sound. There was the off-chance that whatever made the noise was simply roaming around elsewhere, but what if it just happened to roam towards them? |

There were rustling noise coming from deep within the woods, the shadows created by the canopy provided whatever was lurking there a perfect cover to take its time and survey its prey. Geralf knew whatever was on the other side seemed angry and ready to pounce at any given moment, with the kindling in hand he quickly moved back to join the other two. In his mind, the three of them might be able to take this thing down; two fishmen and a muscle bounded guy that can produce flames at will? That’s a lot of fire power. “Maybe it’s just another one of those beasts, i doubt it would be too tough for the three of us to handle.” Geralf spoke with confidence as he knelt down and dropped the kindle, throwing a few pieces to the open flame to keep it going. Looking to his side, he noticed that Bronz had already taken the bandages off. The wound was quite deep and scabs had already formed, blood had been tricking out of the wound which is because of the scab breaking apart from the scuffle earlier. “The wound looks deep, how'd you manage this far with this kind of wound?” Reaching for his back side, Geralf pulls out a suture kit that he always had with him, then he clicked the lid open and revealed a sealed suture and a large needle. The doctor took the needle and the suture out, tearing the plastic cover as he moved towards the open flame. Geralf then places the needle above the flame to sterilize it before pushing the suture on the small hole as he turned towards Bronz, “Stay still, this might hurt a bit.” Then he proceeded to push the needle on his skin, then to the other side, crisscrossing the thread while he yanked on the needle to close the gaping wound. Sixteen stitches in all. “There, all patched up. Take a rest for now and avoid unnecessary altercations if you can.” Then, as he stood up, a loud crash came from the woods. The tree trunks snapped like twigs under the sheer strength of the creature, slowly it emerged from the shadows with the figure of a lion with a golden mane; its fang are long, like a pair of sabers with ancient engravings on it and on its fur are red stripes similar to that of a tiger’s. The lion’s eyes were fixed on the trio, roaring and flashing its fangs in intimidation. |

Bronz was slightly disappointed when he learned that the gourd didn’t contain anything with alcohol but just plain water. Fine then, not that he could do anything about it like turning water into wine. That’d be a convenient ability. He wondered if there was even a devil fruit like that? Just when Don was about to hand his gourd, a beastly roar suddenly erupted from out of nowhere, disrupting the serenity of the night. What was it, another dino? Only to realize that Geralf had gone towards the direction where the roar was coming from after Don had called out his partner. They weren’t close yet or had a significant bonding time to call the hammerhead fishman a friend, but anyone who’d feed him was already a friend. It was such a relief when he saw Geralf returned with more firewoods. The beast must’ve been far, it was the echo playing tricks on them. “Ha, damn right! Let it come and I’ll handle it myself. I’ll turn it into a dino jerky for my lone journey towards Bratham.” Bronz responding to Geralf statement, which the fishman then proceeded to question his resiliency. “Coz I’m El Oso!” Went for a pose, a double bicep flex, swung both arms down seconds later for a crotch chop. If he could only see and listen to himself, the effect of being around Captain Dynamic for too long, the theatrics and bravado, even expressions, had already seeped into him unnoticed. The hero’s gallantry was put to a test when he saw Geralf getting ready with his suturing tools. Even more so when the doctor said he was going to start. Wait, doctors ought to prep their patients first no? Some washing and stuff. And no anesthetic? Well, he didn’t have the right to complain, they were in dino-land with little resources. This ain’t no clinic. He laid on the sand for the convenience of the good doctor, sucked air between his barred teeth. This going to be intense. He gave a resolute nod and Geralf then began stitching him up. The minor operation was done in no time, though it didn’t go as heroic as Bronz had planned, kept grunting and doing some manly noises. It was quick but the pain during the span of the operation felt like forever. He had to admit, this was one of the most embarrassing point of his heroic career. Drained with what energy he got from the dino barbecue, Bronz remained on the sand, spread-eagled, a little dent on his ego and image. Good thing the only witnesses were two fishmen and not any his diehard fans. “Only El Oso can undergo sixteen stitches without anesthetic!” Emphatically said with a huge grin on his face. At least he had some consolation. Suddenly, the creature that was making noises decided to show up. The timing was just right, letting the operation to finish first. This one was a little considerate than any beast. He brought himself to sitting position and saw a living fiction. A winged lion! “Just one of those days, huh! First a dino, then fishmen and now, a griffin?” |
