"Ughhh...." "Wherre..?" Amidst lapsing in and out of consciousness, Don let out various jumbled words here and there. His confusion and lack of cognisance were articulated not by the content of his words, but the lack of coherence in his speech. That wasn't to mention the levels of shit-faced one would see if they observed his appearance. The fishman was laid on something, a hard white ground. It felt similar to some sort of stone. If Don was conscious to ask these questions, he may have made the assumption that it was some sort of marble. The second question he would have was where the hell was he. Followed soon by; am I going to die? Blood stained the floor, smudged against him and the ground. His face and arms were splattered with it here and there. "Hghh." The fishman breathed in heavily, congestion in his throat making it tough. Fuck. Hacking coughs caused him to convulse, chest tightening up. "Hahhh." His eyes shot open, arms grasping at his chest tightly. "Hah...huh...hhh.." He laid there motionless, arms aching and sharp pains shooting from his back. He attempted to raise up to a sitting position, struggling but just barely doing it. "Shit.." Don grit his teeth, standing up and looking down at the red dried stains around him. His arms moved, feeling around on his body for a wound. Ah!... There it is.. The fishman wasn't a stranger to injury, just glad that he hadn't died by now. The wound wasn't actively bleeding, so he'd live. "What the fuck?" Don swore under his heavy breath, stumbling around. He'd been walking around for a while, and the place was incredibly bizarre. It seemed almost like a cave. There were various empty areas, constructed of the exact same white stone. They connected with longer spaces and tubes, the fishman walking to and from each one. That was until he reached it. "What the holy fuck is that." In front of him looked nothing like the white stone around it, but instead a muscle. The surface was smooth and the appearance indicated it could contract/expand. "Um..." Don shuffled slightly closer, hesitantly reaching out to touch it. In the moment his hand touched the muscle, it rapidly expanded open, leaving only a hole directly in front of Don. Light shined in, but he didn't even have time to look at what was through it when the entire space he was in begun shaking. It seemed that he'd done something. And for all he knew, it was a very, very bad thing. It definitely seemed like he caused this entire cavern area to begin moving. "Wh-whoa whoa shit!" Don tripped, losing balance and falling forwards out through the hole. SPLASH. Don frantically begun, moving all of his limbs, trying to figure out where he was. Water? The fishman calmed down, slowing himself and stopping his frantic panicking. Yeah.. this is water. As the revelation became clear, Don grew much calmer. The water was his home, there was nothing to fear there. Don begun swimming, shooting up and out onto the surface. His breathing was heavy and quick, but he was no longer freaking out. Ahead of him, not far way, was an island. Don swam straight to it, not looking at anything else as he collapsed onto the shores of the place. His chest heaved in and out, but he could finally rest. The dried blood on his body washed on, the fishman looking clean once more. Now with a calmed mind, he sat up, staring out back at the water. Where did he even come out of? What the hell just happened? Was that all just some dream? And then he saw it, a massive whale, slightly above the surface of the water, staring straight back at him. W-wait...

Geralf had been walking for quite some time now, he had already lost track as to how long since he arrived at the island. The temperature was hot and humid even though there were canopies of vegetation hanging from tree that looked prehistoric; scales covered the entirety of its trunk which Geralf could only assume as a defense mechanism of some sort, some of the fauna was fairly large enough to swallow a dog whole. It was skin tingling actually but for Geralf, it knocked on the door of his brain as ideas poured in then he got more interested with each passing moment. Maybe it was something he could experiment on. Going back a few hours earlier. The doctor woke up; still dizzy from what happened earlier, the last thing he saw were jaws of some sort of animal and then he was enveloped in complete darkness and fainting afterwards. A faint scent of fresh fauna had entered his nostrils; it was something similar to grass under sunlight which gives of a distinct odor, amplified by his enhanced sense of smell. Geralf finds himself suspended above a few feet from ground and only vines were keeping him from falling to the earth below. “W-where in the god’s name am i?” Geralf turned to his side, it looked like he’s in a forest with thick vegetation, and it seemed untouched as the fauna were growing at an amazing speed and size. Usually, faunas don’t grow that large when in an environment that they know they would only be hunted down thus they shrunk in size. But if they are growing this big, then it only meant that they had the freedom to, there wasn’t anything that is stopping them from doing so. “..Hmmm.. This is pretty interesting.. I need to jot all these down, but first, I need to find a way to get back on the ground.” Taking a vine into his hand, he felt that it was quite thick and rubbery but he knows his teeth is far superior in terms of sharpness and so he took a bite, slicing it away until he gets free off the tangling and falls back down. Thump. He fell back first into the soft soil below which cushioned his fall and he got up to his feet faster than the way he fell, “Right.. I remember now, Don had fallen into the water. Then maybe..” The fishman dusted off whatever dirt that had come in contact with his sleek, white coat and pulled off a small notebook and pen from his pocket. “..Maybe he was also swallowed by whatever thing that had swallowed me, he might also be in this island..” |

"N-no way. It couldn't be." The fishman rubbed his eyes, shaking his head multiple times to try and focus himself. He even pinched his cheek to see if he was dreaming. But no matter what he did, every time he checked, there was the same massive whale just sitting there off the shores, watching him. And as if it got tired of sitting there doing nothing, the whale made a noise. A high pitched squeal, something he wasn't expecting. Its tail splashed against the water lightly, continuing to stare at Don expectantly. Don stumbled up to his feet, the tide rising and touching his toes before shrinking back to the shore. Don wasn't some whale whisperer, but he was a fishman after all. And for some reason, this whale seemed rather friendly. From what he could tell, after falling of the ship in that insane storm.... this whale had eaten him. Well, eat wasn't the best term since he wasn't digested, but he was stored in some weird area made of stones. Wait no, that wasn't stone... The realisation quickly hit him that the area he was in was actually constructed from bone. Don inhaled a deep breath, slowly shifting towards the water before fully diving into it. The fishman could have just turned and left right there, but a growing curiosity was biting at him, and he wanted to solve the mystery. As she swam forwards, the whale didn't budge; instead seeming pleased that Don was nearing. And like that, he reached the whale. Just being so close to such an enormous creature was terrifying, but he could feel a close bond to it. It was then that the whale suddenly moved, causing Don to back up quickly in fear. But he soon realised that it simply sank deeper into the water, lowering its head. The fishman wasn't an idiot, taking the cue pretty easily. He swam up to the whale and with much care, climbed atop its head. "Wow...wwh-whoa!" The whale moved slightly, Don stumbling a little and sitting down flat on its head. He pet it, trying to calm the thing down. Quite frankly, he felt like he was way too small for it to even feel him petting it, but he still tried. And like a miracle, it seemed to work. The whale laid motionless and calm. Don could even hear the giant creature breathing. As his eyes moved around the Whale's body, he could see three holes on its head, not far away from where he was. Don shuffled over to it, curious as to their nature. A whale of this size normally had two holes, but this one had three? It's anatomy drew his interest, but not just because he was fascinated with whale anatomy, but he because he had formed a hypothesis; the third hole was the one he exited out of. Crawling over, he could see the two blowholes. They were more flat than some other whales, as many blowholes looked just like massive noses. The third hole though was also fairly flat compared to most blowholes, a few meters further down the whale. If you looked closely into the crevice, you could see that there was a sphincter-like muscle. Thankfully, the whale's skin was aged like leather and had moss growing on it, or else the hole would have been reminiscent of a giant anus. Don reached his foot out hesitantly, but this time he was more calm. Even though he knew that he was on a giant whale, he felt a calm connection with the animal. It was like the animal was inviting him in once again, as if Don was the one who saved its life and not the other way around. And as his foot tapped the whale, the muscle expanded and and opening was revealed. And as expected, with the light shining in from outside, Don could see the white bones inside. Unfortunately it was quite dark, and the only way he could see earlier was due to having decent eye sight as a fishman. But he didn't feel the need to jump back in there for now, instead patting the whale once more. "Good boy," he said, walking back to its front and looking out at the island nearby. |

The sound of his pen scribbling on the previously wet parchment was minimal compared to the various sounds from his surroundings; he noted each specie he saw as he walked the path he made for himself, it had not been easy as there were sharp-bladed leaves that had cut through the upper layers of his skin but it was quite shallow of a wound but it stings just like any other wound. His focus was intent on his findings, there were some species of fauna that closely resembled known species of plants but they looked more, prehistoric. “..Hmmm.. This one looks pretty similar to a Rafflesia.. Same foul smelling odor but this one seems.. Sentient..” He looked intently on the plant, protruding out of the mouth are spines which looked like it is used to trap something. Geralf could see the mouth opening and closing as if it were breathing the stale, rancid air as he bent down and reached for the plastic-looking petals of a blood red coloration. Rough with scale-like thorns protruding out of the petals, the fishman stood up and started to jot down his findings on his notebook. “I never knew such species existed, amazing!” Geralf continued down the path, his eyes were not fixed on anything in particular. He knew he had to find Don first, he might be somewhere on the island he thought and maybe he need to get to a higher ground for a good vantage point to help him survey the island. Plan his steps so as to save time. The doctor turned towards a steep slope, the bottom was covered in lush, velvety canopies of large leaves that covered the entire ground. He figured that he might be somewhere along the side of the mountain and decided to go back to the direction on where he came from. Geralf reached for his left shoulder, “Good, there’s only minor soreness. It’s healing well thought there is still a clicking sound, I need to have it strengthened after it heals up completely.” The fishman raised his left arm and rotated it, and yes there was still some pain that is jolting from the connective tissues on the joint. “I’ll just give this a few more weeks.” The fishman continued his route upwards until he reached the peak of the mountain; he had a good look at the other side which looked to be another mountain, or is it? Taking a good look at it, the shape looked like a skull, a sea king’s skull but it was enormous. The greens had already laid its claim over it, maybe the rotted flesh had been essential to the wild growth of the vegetation here, Geralf thought. “Hmmm.. The view is nice up here and..” Geralf turned to his left, “There’s the beach, and there’s a whale.. and Don..” Geralf frowned, “What’s he doing up on a whale?!” |

Don sighed, stretching out his arms as he stood atop the whale. A soft worm current of wind flew past him, dancing across the surfaces of his skin. As quickly as they reached him though, they left. Flying on forwards, down towards the island in front of him. To say that the mass of land was bizarre would be an understatement. Not only was it bizarre, it was unlike anything he'd ever seen before. A few dozen meters of water separating him and the island's shores, Don could still easily see all of the details on the island before him. Unlike the white, indistinguishable aspects of Gesso Island, this island was bright and vivid. The flora were massive, flourishing and colourful. They seemed otherworldly, unlike any plants he had seen on his journey thus far. This was saying much, given the vast array of life he'd seen on many different islands. "What a truly curious place.." Don muttered to himself, sighing softly. Turning his attention away from the island, Don focused on his own situation. Forget the plant-life of this random island, Don's own situation was bizarre enough. As it was, he'd been carried here by a whale. A massive whale. And this was after a sudden freak storm struck his ship, causing him to fall overboard. The thought was like a slap to the face, the fishman shaking his head in anger. He had no idea where he was, nor Amos, nor Dahlia. Not even Geralf, the name of which he had only heard from his other crew-mates. He hadn't even gotten to talk with the other fishman since the chaos on Gesso Island. But despite his frustration, Don could do nothing. He was on some foreign freak-show of an island which he had no information on. Hopes dashed and thrown in the gutters, Don sunk into a daze. His eyes glazed over the island's lush, wild landscapes, with no direction and no purpose. At least this place has plenty to look at... large trees, bushes.. plants, hills... mountains, people, volcanoes- wait! People!? The fishman stumbled back, staring straight out at a faint figure atop a tall mountain. He could barely make out the person's silhouette, but that far more than enough to know who it was. No one else had that distinct body and facial shape. "Geralf!" Don hopped up excitedly, waving his arms out frantically to grab the fishman's attention. The whale shifted slightly in surprise, confused by Don's sudden movement. Without any hesitation, Don sprinted off the whale and leapt from atop it. Drops of water shot in every direction as he dove into the water, bolting down and then straight towards the island's shores. Upon reaching them, he would rapidly proceed to sprint through the forested areas of the area to reach the mountain where he saw Geralf. |

Well of course, it was a fellow fish as Geralf and Don are also of the same specie so maybe the whale grew some sort of attachment to Don. He looked liked a likable guy anyway, Geralf looked down on the seaside where the sea glittered with the reflection from the sun then he recalled, “Where’s that griffin that was always tailing Don? Hmmm?” The fishman scanned the clear skies and there were no sign of the griffin not even a cry. “Is it feeding somewhere? Or maybe it is perched, that storm was no joke and maybe it got tired and is taking a rest somewhere..” It was then that Geralf noticed Don waving, ‘Did he notice my presence?’ the doctor thought and nodded as he saw the other fishman dove into the water then again surfaced in one fluid motion and proceeded to dash onto the thick vegetation below. Geralf took a few more deep breaths from the warm breeze, it was as fresh as he could get and savoring moments like this can be a good boost to the doctor’s morale. “Okay, then on to meet up with Don.” Geralf walked down the path opposite from where he came from, it was the usual forest path with large, scaled tree trunks. There were cries of beasts that lives within the island but it wasn’t something that Geralf had ever heard of, the cries wasn’t also the one that the griffin makes, it was something.. Different, it echoed eerily as if the sounds were alive. The fishman grew wary of his surroundings; he knew something did not feel right, he felt like something was watching his every move, and it was the first time in his life that he felt like a prey being hunted down by a predator. As he got deeper into the forest, the cool breeze had already been blocked by the walls of trees; the surrounding air was warm and humid, Geralf had started to feel a little bit drunk from the atmosphere, he started to feel that the ground was shaking. Is it an earthquake? Maybe. The island was surrounded by active volcanoes after all and with his little knowledge on volcanoes, Geralf knows that volcanoes do send some signals before eruption and as he got a nice view of the island earlier, there weren’t any particular signs on the skyline so an erupting volcano is out of the question. Geralf knew he had to take a break, but it was too soon as he was taking a deep breath at the peak a few minutes ago. There was something in the air that was causing him to feel drunk and as he got to a nearby tree, he immediately felt his knees weakened and fell down. His vision had already started to fade and then again, total darkness enveloped his sight as he feel into a deep slumber. |

Don hurried along, sprinting through the dense forest of this island. From a distance the bizarre species of plants had intrigued him, but now, up close, that effect was magnified. Truly, it was otherworldly. And not just visually - there was a lot more to this place than just the looks. The entire atmosphere it possessed was, special. One of the factors contributing to that atmosphere was the sounds. Given the large and unique plant-life he'd seen, you could only imagine the size and strength of the animals here. And Don didn't even have to think too hard to imagine them, since various noises came from all over the island. Squawks, screeches, even the occasional roar. The greater the food source, the greater the size, and this island seemed to be plentiful when it came to food. As he moved deeper into the island, the trees grew denser and denser. Leafy foliage blocked out the sun above, making it dark and difficult to see. The trees here were overgrown, roots peeking out from within the ground. The wild cries here were more eerie, echoing around the trees. Is this still the right way? Don couldn't help but feel something was off as he moved on, a chill creeping up his spine. Hmm? Slowing his pace, Don looked around, walking slowly at this point. His guard was up, arms at his sides and fists clenched into balls. Sniffling, Don rubbed his nose and shook his head. As he did, his movements felt sluggish. What's going on!? Fatigue? The fishman was accustomed to his body's capabilities, having trained and experimented on it in the past. Thus, such a massive change in his senses sent multiple alarms off in his head. Immediately, he stopped, keeping motionless and slowing his breath. Despite keeping a calm composure, he was shaking on the inside. His eyes darted around, trying to find the source. Whatever this was, whether it was a plant, animal, or even another person, it was dangerous. Don slowly stepped forwards, jumpy to even the slightest movement. As he turned a corner, a worrying sight caught his attention. Geralf! |

Everything was pitched black, though it seemed that Geralf was able to see through it without any problem at all. Then he found himself walking, slowly as if it was an occasional stroll in the park; there was a slightly sweet scent that filled the blackness around him. ‘What is this scent?’ He thought, his sense of smell was greatly heightened as he focused more on it. Suddenly there was a light at the end, he hurriedly jogged towards it and the view presented itself. ‘Wait.. Isn’t that-‘ He was looking at his younger self, when he was still studying. He was studious, very polite, and very punctual. Geralf was a model student back then; he sought to impress his teachers and his fellow classmates as he came out on top of the class, he was well celebrated in his youth. He had a good family but was not able to share this as he was an only child but he didn’t really mind, he got all the attention and that was important. ‘Yeah.. I remember, but, those were the good times..’ Then, the cycle of events in front of him shatters. Fast forward to a few months, he receives a letter calling him back home. His parents had passed away from an unknown disease; it was here that Geralf knew what he had learned was not enough, there has to be some sort of knowledge to preserve life as it is, something eternal. “Ugghhhh.. What just happened?” Geralf was woken up by a sharp hissing sound, it sounded close actually. Still groggy as he struggled to get back to his feet, then there was the hissing sound again, this time it came from directly behind the fishman as he turned to see what the source is. What came to view surprised him; it was a large raptor except its head resembles that of a snake, its body is thin and wiry with long arms with three fingers on it. Its legs are also quite thin which looked like its built for speed and is equipped with sharp talons that is used to tear flesh and finally, an equally long tail for balance. Protruding on its back are rows of brightly colored mushrooms that produces spores that induces sleep. “So that’s how I fell asleep, hmmm. This looks like a big problem..” |

The crimson brawn’s eyes fluttered as he was aroused by a sudden movement and some kind of hissing? Squinted as he tried to orient himself as to where he was. A shaded warm place and tight. The last thing he remembered was, he arrived at some heavily vegetated island, and strolled for a bit to check if this was Bratham, but then he fainted from fatigue and fever. He had been fainting quite often nowadays, guess it was time to have his wounds checked, especially the one on his torso. First, where was he? The hissing continued. And he could see scales, moving, peristaltic. He looked to his side, eggs? Wait what? Instead of orienting himself, he had grown disoriented it seemed. Eggs, scales and hissing… he was in some kind of nest? Snake’s nest? Bronz rolled out from the creature’s underbelly and bolted up. Gremacing as he did so from his wound, but endured it. Now standing, looking the creature from the side, he didn’t expect see a dinosaur, a mutated one no less. Then followed where the dinosaur was looking, another strange creature was standing upfront. Where in prehistoric world was he? His head spun. Motherfucker! That geezer in colorless island had given him a fake log pose! In anger, Bronz growled a guttural one. A woman was waiting for him in Bratham, a woman to be saved and a villain to flatten, instead he had been swept by tides and lies. Such a cruel fate. Realizing his situation fueled his anger even more, so he was dragged by the dinosaur, not eaten, meant he was going to be food for soon to be hatchlings? It could only be! And the other creature was going to steal him away, and be his food. A concentration of his anger coursed through his fists coming from his core. It pulsated heat, coating his fists with the color ranging from yellow to orange. Aside from fatigue and fever, he was also suffering from hunger, why not eat these two creatures and they’d know who was the true apex predator, some dinosaur and whatever creature barbeque and boiled eggs. Bronz grabbed for his hammer usually strapped on his hip, nothing. Right, he didn’t bring any when went off board his ship. It didn’t matter, he’d just punch their lives out. Bronz broke first for the dinosaur, swinging an over hand right. The creature then retaliated with a crunch of jagged teeth. At the last moment, Bronz toughened his skin with his Life Return power. Forces collided! And ended instantaneously. The creature fell, knocked out, broken teeth and concussed than it ever was. Bronz then swiveled around towards the other creature. “Not barbeque, I’m gonna make a stew out of you.” teqs

As Don turned a corner, the abundance of flora gave way to Don's fishman friend. Normally, given the past events and context, Don would have been overjoyed to see Geralf up close. But as it stood, there was a pressing matter which was primed to attack. The fishman's back was turned to Don, and what he was looking at, was a horrific creature. It was large and tall, partially looking like a snake and partially some sort of raptor from a bygone era. Fungus, mold and mushrooms were sprouting from its back, and Don had realised at this point where the sleep-inducing toxin was coming from. You could almost see purple wisps of toxin floating around like streams in the air. But almost as soon as he saw the creature, the danger was dealt with. And up from behind Geralf, Don could see the burly man who took care of it. It seemed he took care of it rather effortlessly, a single punch knocking it out cold. Its sharp serrated teeth didn't seem to even phase him, a testament to what the guy was made of. But with that said and done, he turned to Geralf with almost just as threatening of a glare. And as if Geralf was another one of those creatures, he said that he'd turn him to stew. Now, the guy looked like a human. Ragged and a bit weird, but human. And as it was, despite the fact that fishmen weren't humans, most humans, if not all, did not particularly desire to eat fishman. So with all that taken into consideration, it was possible that this guy was mistaking Geralf for another creature to kill and eat. Either that, or they had a giant beefy cannibal to fight. Don was hoping for the former. "Whoa whoa whoa," Don said, running up to the two whilst shaking his hands. "Chill out, we ain't some fuckin' creatures for you to eat." Don would reach out to grip Geralf's shoulder, pulling him away slightly from the deranged guy while keeping a cautious eye on him. With his right hand still raised as if he was carefully talking to some wild beast, Don tried to ask a more civil question. "Who are you?" From the looks of it, the guy probably didn't live here. Paying close attention, he seemed rather out of it. Possibly he was in some similar straits to Don and Geralf themselves, having arrived here after his ship broke in a storm or something. At the very least, Don doubted that he was a local. From his view of the island back on the whale, he was unable to see a single sign of civilisation. Not even a single construct, or when he was walking here, not once did he see some sort of man-made path. Edited by quag, Apr 14 2018, 10:08 PM.

The doctor shot a long and intense look at the creature, it actually fascinated him that a creature this unique had ever existed and it never made the books. ‘So that explains all those mushrooms on its back.. Its body is never meant to take a heavy beating so it relies on the sleeping spores to make its life easier, amusing..’ The creature hissed as it hoped to intimidate the fishman but Geralf stood motionless without a slight aura of fear from him, ‘..Hmmm.. Maybe I could make some serums out of those spores, I’ll have to ask Don to help me drag this thing back to the ship and hopefully Amos and Dahlia wouldn’t mind.’ Then in a simple turn of events, another guy came out from the back with the creature noticing this as it turn and hissed but the guy lunged and punched the life out of the creature. ‘What the-‘ Geralf was surprised to see another sentient being on the island aside from him and Don, did he also drift on the island? Or was he also swallowed by the whale that got them on the island in the first place? It didn’t really matter since his precious specimen had been killed when he actually hoped of dragging it back to the ship alive to study it. As soon as rigor mortis kicks in, his chances of dissecting the creature would plummet down to the depths of the earth. Geralf felt something hot welling inside of him, it wasn’t a natural occurrence; he had always be the one to keep his cool under duress but this time came out quite different, he was irritated for some reason and clenched on to his cane. And just as he was about to take a step forward, Geralf felt a firm grip on his shoulder, pulling him backwards. “Don?” The doctor thought that he got lost from the maze-like forest; it was thick which makes it harder to find your way around unless you have a good vantage point to guide you on the right direction but seeing as Don had already found him, maybe it had been easier than Geralf had imagined it would be. “That wasn’t really necessary, don’t you think?” The doctor directed his question towards the burly guy, Geralf had an irritated tone to his voice; he looked well built for a human, his muscles are quite dense from a trained eye. The fishman knew he had no chance if he goes toe to toe with this guy and he had to rely on his brains to get past him somehow. |

Bronz stopped in his track when another weird looking creature butted in, and it spoke. Eyes rapidly blinked, maybe he was seeing things, his fever causing delirium messing him up. But it wasn’t the case, the blue creature was as real as the snake-headed dinosaur. The tension on his muscles loosened and the glowing force coating fists disappeared as he calmed down, there were some things that shouldn’t be eaten like talking creature for example. “My apologies… I didn’t know- well, I was looking around the island and fainted, probably, and when I woke up I was already in a nest, so I thought your companion was another strange dinosaur who’s planning to steal me from that dead o-” Knees buckled and Bronz slumped on the ground, cutting himself off mid sentence. The attack he just made, the combination of Life Return power and using body heat to coat his fists, had sapped the last of his energy. He then rolled supine, breathing heavily, blood-stained white tank top heaving up and down, couldn’t help but smile from the embarassing state he was in. “I’m Bro-” It was probably a bad idea to use his real name, he was still a wanted pirate after all. If these two… whatever creatures they might be, were marines or bounty hunters he’d done. “Just call me El Oso or Oso, whichever you like.” Now that was a name free from harm, a hero’s name. If these guys were up to date in current events, sure they had heard the hero, ‘The Hammer of Justice’ who had saved a district in Romulin from total obliteration. “I’m heading towards an island called Bratham… I thought this is it according to an eternal log pose I… I bought from the previous island I was in... looks like I was duped.” Spoke openly, pausing in between words to catch his breath. He then shook his head. “You guys... know where Bratham is?” Looking towards the two creature in an odd angle. “Well, it was necessary for survival… clearly the bastard was planning to make me into a meal… and I’m hungry, so I’m gonna make ...him my meal instead.” Now addressing the other creature with a hat. A brief silence went on, wind breezed through the space between them and onto the lush vegetation around. Bronz then broke the silence to quell his curiosity. “What sort of creatures are you guys?” |

The fire in the man's eyes dimmed down as Don spoke, an expression more akin to that of confusion becoming apparent. For a brief moment there was some tension in the air, but Don slowly lowered his hand as the man seemed to calm down as well. Following Don's words, the man became sensible. It was a relief that he had seemed to calm down, actually giving his apologies and trying to explain his actions rather than trying to kill them. Mid sentence though, something seemed to overcome him as he collapsed onto the ground. The sudden shift caused Don to lift his left hand from Geralf's shoulder, tensing up briefly in preparation for a fight. But just moments later, he realised what happened. Don sighed and calmed down once more, this time more assured that the man meant no harm. At least not right now. Guess he's telling the truth... The man rolled over, Don getting a glance at his torso. Don's earlier assumption that the man wasn't in the best of straits seemed to be correct, blood staining his white shirt. "Oso, eh?" It seemed as if the man was about to call himself something else, but Don didn't pay too much mind to it. Whatever he wanted to be called, it didn't change anything. The man continued on about some island, Don looking back to Geralf to see if he knew. Don wasn't exactly a navigator, and he had no idea where they were going or why. At best he could remember the islands that he'd already crashed into. Now that things had calmed down, Don shifted away from Geralf, giving the guy some space. His eyes wandered around the area once more to make sure everything was safe. That creature had possessed a particularly nasty ability, and Don didn't want to get caught up in another one of those things anytime soon. "We're fishmen," Don said, looking the man in the eye for a second before shifting his gaze to Geralf. The events which just happened lead Don to believe that the man didn't even know what fishmen were, or at least he'd only briefly heard of them before. After all, most people would have been able to tell by now. To Don though, that was mostly a good thing. He seemed rather kind after they'd settled the confusion, and a person as open as him couldn't be a bad person. It was only those who would purposefully seek to hunt people like Don and Geralf - solely due to their race - which he hated. There was a special place reserved in hell for those kinds, and Don made it a point to send each and everyone of those bastards there. For better or worse, as was apparent back on Gesso. "We just crashed here today, or at least sometime recently." Don didn't mention anything about piracy, lest this man had some sort of grievance against pirates. |

Geralf felt relieved that the human was reasonable enough to let them off the hook; he knew that even the two of them couldn’t hope to match with him pound for pound, maybe a few broken bones and some third degree burns from the technique that he used previously, and worse maybe they would get dragged into an auction of some sort, fishmen do tend to get quite a hefty price. As the two went on their conversation, Geralf slowly approached the creature; its eyes were as white as ivory and the tongue was sticking out, it lies motionless on the ground and just to be sure that the creature was really dead, Geralf raised his cane and poked it on its side. ‘Hmmmph.. It’s dead alright.’ Then he stuck his hand out and felt the scales on his palm; it was cold and hard, getting through the scales might be a lot of work but things would be easier thanks to his strength as a fishman. “Good.. Rigor Mortis hasn’t set in yet.. I need to move fast.” Then he moved his hand on the area where the creature got hit by Bronz, there was an oddity on the rib area which tells Geralf that there was something broken inside. The scales on top prevented his fists from penetrating but there were burn marks all over the area, ‘This one needs to be fixed.. And hopefully only the ribs were affected, I could set the organs aside for further studies.’ Moving on to the opposite side of the carcass, he got a good look at the fungus growing on its back and as Geralf reached for the stalk, he carefully yanked on it and found out that it had taken root on the dermis. There are also types of parasitic fungi like this one that feeds off nutrients from its host, but in return, the host is also taking advantage of the defense mechanism of the fungi and since it had taken root on the host’s body, the host had developed anti bodies to protect itself from the side effects of the spores. It is more mutualism than parasitism in actuality as they both benefit from each other. Over the thick canopy, Geralf could see that darkness started to loom over the horizon; the bright blue sky had already transitioned to a darker hue, the yellowish rays of the sun had turned into deep orange as it began to set. An hour till dusk, this is the time where things get crucial. Animals do tend to hunt at night to escape the scorching heat of the sun; it is the time where they are most active which would be dangerous for them if outnumbered, the noises were getting louder, calls for other creatures to hunt. “It’s getting dark.. These creatures are up for the hunt, if we are to stay here, we’ll become part of the food chain.” Geralf said as he stood up and looked over the other two. Edited by Nixiv, Apr 16 2018, 09:18 PM.

“Fishmen? Ha!" Bronz exclaimed, his tone amused. He didn’t expect the revelation. It came from out of nowhere. In his excitement, he was able to sit upright, and looked towards the two fishmen with overly curious eyes. He had met a mermaid before, in fact a colleague, under the Kraken Pirate’s flag. But not fishmen. He had heard stories about them, with visible traits of a fish or whatever species they’d sprung from, so he was told. Now that he had been staring at them for some time - just over a minute really - he could definitely see the resemblance. One was hammerhead shark? The other… he wasn’t sure, causing some furrows to appear on his forehead. Another shark maybe? And both were quite tall too, making him looked like a lost child. If the fight pushed through against these two, he didn’t know if he could win, rumors had it, fishmen were strong. Not in his current condition anyway. A healthy El Oso? A different story. While the blue ...or gray fishman divulged more of their condition, the hammerhead-inspired one moved towards his kill, seemingly examining it. Then seconds later, he was talking to himself and Rigor Mortis fellow? Was he talking to another person in his head? Weird.... Even the way he was examining the dead dinosaur was weird, almost with lustful agenda. Weird! Well, that was how it appeared to Bronz. The crimson brawn cocked his head, a slight hint of disgust on his expression, and looked back at the bald one to respond. “Crashed? like literally?” His lips curled to a playful grin. There was something funny about fishmen crashing to an island on a ship. He continued, a new inquiry in mind. “Did you guys by any chance… saw my ship on the way here? Decent size Trimaran, red one. I don’t know how ...long I was out. Maybe it got drifted already. I hope my ...sidekick has it secured” He was still breathing heavily. Just then, the hammerhead weirdo spoke about the approaching darkness and the dangers that came along with it. “Right, let’s go butcher this dino and find my ship, and have some barbecue for dinner. Whaddaya guys think?” Usually, mommies kept reminding their kids not to talk to strangers, but the duo didn’t seem like bad folks, so Bronz went for his guts. |
