“I mean those dinosaurs are kinda cool I guess…”

The Edge took a drag of his cigarette, trying not to cough from the burning smoke entering his lungs. He wasn’t particularly used to smoking yet, back in his hometown his mother wouldn’t let him anywhere near the small cylindrical cancer sticks. However he persevered onwards, trying his best to build an aura of ‘hey I bet that guy is super cool and mysterious’. That being said, no one around seemed too fussed about the smoking sixteen year old. This was partially because there was no one around in the first place except a congregation of dinosaurs trying their best to strip all the leaves off of the local fauna.

How did our little ball of angst wind up on Little Garden I hear you ask? Well, after The Edge had decided to leave his hometown he had gotten very lost. The plan had been to hitch rides until he reached an island that could understand him unlike his loser parents. However, every time he snuck onto a ship he was almost immediately discovered and then booted off at the next lump of land. Unfortunately for him this time he had wound up on an island without people on it, only a host of very large lizards. Not that the lack of civilisation bothered The Edge, regular folk just couldn’t comprehend the complexities of his caged conscious.

“Man, I just want to fight someone. If only there was a bar on this island. I’m sure if there was a bar I could go to it and find someone of interest to hack at with my cursed blade.”

This had been a recent development in the psyche of the swordsman. During the time spent hidden away on trading fleets he had found himself with a lot of spare time on his hands. During said time he had decided that his weapon, the legendary Watashi no Tamashi no Yami, was actually a cursed blade that demanded the blood of fallen enemies so that it would not turn on its own master. He had come to fear his own weapon, a true tragedy of our times.

Gritting his teeth, the man dressed in all black finished his cigarette and flicked the remainder away as he finally gave his lungs a break. The question was how could he get off this island and find a way to feed his ever hungry inanimate blade? Sure he was good at carpentry and could probably build a boat but that would take far too long. No, he would have to wait for a ship to pass by and wave it down. There would probably be a slaughtering of the crew but it couldn’t be helped, that was just the way that this despicable world worked. Putting a hand on his long, cylindrical, stiff, black sword The Edge began to move. He would find a way off of not only this island but the island in his heart.

How many months have I been here now?

Hainex lay in the upper branches of the endless jungle that covered most of this island in the midday sun. He had ended up here. He had gotten his ass kicked here. He had then lost contact with every person that was here and promptly got himself stranded here. All things considered it was actually refreshing. It reminded him of his childhood. Living in the forest, foraging for food, experimenting with various plants and animals, oh there was one thing that was different. His tail lashed through the air suddenly catching a small mammal as it darted between the branches and attempted to glide over head. The creature squealed weakly and succumbed as the barbs that tore into it drained the creature to a mummified husk in moments.

This. Hunger.

Hainex's senses perked up, this small meal wasn't enough to sate his new instincts but at least the blood was warm. A rustling in the brush below drew his attention down. This was his territory! Hainex leapt from the branches and twisted in the air drawing his sword from where it was strapped beneath his shield. Hainex's purple eyes searched the foliage below as he drew back his sword and flung it point down like a javelin. There was a spark and then a fwoosh as the blade ignited into a fireball and tore a hole through the dense jungle. It would slam into the ground loudly just a few feet ahead of the intruder in a flash of smoke and fire. A few moments later Hainex's body would follow through the charred and smoking hole he just carved through the canopy and land in a crouch on the ground.

Hainex looked up facing the intruder. Another boy and near his age at that. Hainex slowly stood. His tail stretched out clicking with each barb that exposed itself as the limb uncurled from whatever small rodent like mammal Hainex had just fed on and it swished itself up curving the barbed tip over his right shoulder. Hainex rummaged around in one of his pouches and produced a small circular magazine before popping it into the front of his shield and cocking the gun. He raised it threateningly. His mind raced at what the appearance of this boy meant but he was clearly armed and coolly walking as if he owned the place. Hainex didn't appreciate that. Hainex had to fight off a small horde of reptiles to secure this small lot of forest from the larger predators. He wasn't about to have some jackass intrude.

"This is my territory now. Leave unless you want to be my next meal."

Well it looked like his wish had been granted. Just as The Edge wondered whether even a single other human inhabited this island, one had decided to make his entrance. What an entrance it was as well, piercing in through the heavens like a bolt of lightning and sending charred dirt flying into the air. Naturally this excited the man in black, anyone who could perform such a feat of acrobatics and strength would surely be willing to battle an unparalled master of the blade such as himself.

"I would advise against eating me, unless you enjoy the taste of darkness and despair slow cooked over years of persecution with a side of a part of the human soul you never knew even existed."

The Edge had long since prepared multiple phrases to respond to any potential cannibal situations, all written down in 'The Edge's Notebook of Cool Sounding Phrases' of course. After recovering from the goose bumps that ran down his neck after he perfectly delivered that phrase, the swordsman had a chance to properly examine the enemy standing opposite him. A brown haired kid, definitely no older than The Edge himself. That being said, The Edge being a sixteen year old boy instantly decided that he could be considered this man's senior. The enemy had raised some kind of shield things as if it were some kind of firearm. Silly children, shields couldn't be guns.

However this encounter brought a glint of hope to The Edge, if there was another person on this island maybe there was a boat he could steal. However, that would mean our angsty little protagonist would probably have to slaughter shield gun boy for the right to sail away from dinosaur rock. Placing his right hand over his blade as black as the depths of his heart, The Edge stared down the brown haired boy.

"I would very much like to leave your territory little boy but I'm afraid I have no way to exit this cursed prison that is this desolate island. I'll tell you what, you give me your boat and I'll leave you alone to your lizard fighting ways."

The boy invading Hainex's personal space responded in a manner. A manner which would make for a very convincing argument for most people to leave him alone. Hainex however had no one else to bother and with nothing else to his name besides the few dozen square meters of semi-built up jungle space behind him everything was at stake here. Hainex tilted his head sideways as the intruder continued his speaking and gripped his sword at the ready. Cocking a smug grin Hainex did two things. First he started slowly circling as is tradition with honorable duels to the death of which Hainex had been through many. Second he started speaking.

"Hah. Hahahaha. I don't have a boat. I live here now! Yes, to the heart seeking freedom this island is a prison. No, it's more like hell. I was like you. Then I learned the truth. I had reality beaten into me and I was left for dead here but I crawled back from the brink. Life after life I swallowed just to take another step. See in this world there exists beings that surpass us humans! There are demons and monsters and gods of the flesh and I intend to devour them one by one! Just look!"

Hainex swung his shield to the side pointing over the tree tops where the mountainous skulls of two once alive and amazingly gargantuan creatures formed one of the very few landmarks this island had and somehow managed to be visible no matter where you were. Hainex straightened his back and stood at his full height putting him at least a full head taller than the swordsman of the night that stood before him. A low rumble sounded over the trees and shook the ground. In the distance, a plume of smoke rose into the air.

"Also you're the little one shorty but hey at least the blood with be warm."

Hainex steadied his gunshield and pulled his tattered scarf over his face, both barrels pointed straight at the boy across from from him. Was there even a drop of hesitation in him anymore? No, maybe before. Here it was kill or die. Hainex pulled the trigger just as the ground shook massively causing his aim to swing to the side and put the shot past his target instead. A loud rolling crack silenced the comparatively minor gunshot as the volcano on the other side of the island erupted marking the hour.

This man spoke to The Edge in a way that no one had ever before. It was clear that he was an intellectual with a similar viewpoint of the world, something that none of the adults from his hometown had the capability of understanding. Unfortunately, the brown haired maniac had attempted to murder the black haired maniac. It would seem that the fates, however, had deemed today not to be the day the demons from below dragged The Edge's soul to its eternal damnation. It had turned out that a shield gun did indeed exist, having been fired in the general vicinity of our little ball of complicated emotions. Luckily, the eruption of a nearby volcano had thrown the aim off and kept The Edge's head on.

"Ah. I see the mountain is bleeding today. The blood of the Earth escapes from the open wound. A tragedy. Also it's not my fault that I'm short little boy, it's the curse passed down from my parents and their bloodlines."

This had been The Edge's first witnessed eruption, not having been aware that should he spend any more time on Little Garden he would have to grow very much accustomed to this nonsense. However, all that the first one had done was half convince him he was immortal as, in his mind, fate had decided he would not be dying today. Considering the already inflated ego of the black swordsman™, only bad things could happen now.

"Such a shame that you decided to try and end my suffering. I feel as though the two of us share the same mettle, cast away by society yet born to become greatness. Unfortunately for you, there is only one person that will end my life. That person is me! Wait… No forget I said that, it doesn't make any sense. Let me try again, one second please."

The Edge quickly pulled out 'The Edge's Notebook of Cool Sounding Phrases' as well as 'The Edge's Pen to Author Cool Sounding Phrases' and flipped pages until he reached what he was looking for. Scanning through the pictures he used instead of a functional alphabet, he closed his most prized possession and tucked it neatly and safely into his jacket pocket. Exhaling as to calm himself for making such a trivial mistake, he began ranting again.

"Unfortunately for you, there is only one person who has the capabilities of ending my life. That person is me! The Edge! When I kill you and you go to Hell, tell the Devil that his favourite child sent you!"

Grinning on the inside due to having pulled off the phrase perfectly on the second attempt, the swordsman tried to hide his giddiness as he unsheathed his katana and swung in the general direction of his newest target.

Hainex recoiled his arm and centered his aim again. He had missed due to an act of measurable and well understood science which he had not accounted for. The hourly eruptions having been so regular at this point he had all but ignored them any time he wasn't directly in danger of being melted. Hainex was about to fire again but he noticed that despite his expectation this intruder was merely standing still giving more exposition. It had been a while since Hainex had such opportunities for conversation. Further even in the face of danger and imminent death this intruder barely shifted his tone. Hainex's eyes lit up at the realization this person may not be very different from his own temperament. The pause and shift in conversation while this damaged child pulled out a notebook apparently filled with a script of some sort was a source of amusement Hainex had not had in ages.

Hainex raised his shield blocking the swinging katana blade with nothing more than a dull thud registering in his senses. "You say you're called the edge?! I wonder if perhaps you haven't lost the sharpness that earned you that name!" Hainex pushed the blade away and skipped to where his sword sat in the dirt retrieving the blade in his right hand. Hainex pushed his shield out in front of him and cocked his sword arm back taking his stance. Hainex's tail slithered over his shoulder wrapping around the handle to his throwing dagger and slowly drew it forth as the limb recoiled behind the fighter and whipped forward hurling the blade across the short distance just as a strong wind picked up slowing the blade down considerably in it's flight. Probably a residual draft or pressure wave from the volcano erupting.

Hainex threw his shield arm up to block the dust and ashes from blowing into his eyes. The environment suddenly shifting as ashes began to rain gently on the duo. Hainex was reminded of his own dabbling in melodrama. "Hmph, the first rock thrown again. Welcome to hell, Little Saint. Just don't forget to keep a little for yourself while you're paying my toll!

Inconceivable! Somehow The Edge's stupendously spectacular strike of sure skill had been stopped by a shield. Who knew a metal shield had the capability of stopping a sword? This shocking development had completely thrown the swordsman completely off guard. Despite training his entire life for this moment, he hadn't actually been in many real fights. Usually, it had just been him randomly smacking other students over the head with the a bamboo sword in his dojo before running away and declaring overwhelming victory. So having his opponent actually fight back was a new experience. Not that this phased the man with more confidence than your drunk uncle on the wedding dancefloor.

Then came the knife flying at him. To someone of the calibre of his opponent, that throw was nothing special and below par. To The Edge however it was very fast. Attempting to dive out of the way, the knife grazed the left side of his torso tearing through his flesh but more importantly his black jacket and shirt. He cursed his luck, finding purely pitch black clothing in the Grand Line was a lot harder than it should be. His supply of jackets had already been running low, if he didn't take more care then he would be forced to change his aesthetic which was absolutely not ok. Also he was bleeding and in pain but that wasn't important compared to this. That had also totally been a tail. Did people outside of his hometown have secret tails? The Edge cursed his luck, if only he had been born with a tail to help signify his connection with the darkness.

As the ash rained down from the sky and likely infected his open wound, The Edge couldn't help but smile as the shield-gun boy responded with a phrase that sent chills down his spine. A perfect mix of badassery and confidence, perhaps there were people in this world on the same level as himself. In his mind, this moment was perfect. Two warriors who truly understood what not only fighting but existance was clashing under the tears of a weeping volcano. In reality, of course, it probably just looked like two dumb kids trying their best to cut each other with sharp weapons.

"Your words have spoken to my heart and your knife has spoken to my body. I respect you as a combatant but I will not bow down and die. I may be more than happy to pay your toll, just remember that when Hell sends its tax returns that I will be the one on top! It has been my honour to clash with you but just as my torso has bid farewell to parts of its flesh I will bid farewell to you."

Gritting his teeth to bide the pain, The Edge lunged forward and tried to slash down right onto the shield. Last time he had aimed for not the shield and ended up hitting the shield. It only made sense that if he aimed for the shield he would end up hitting not the shield. This kind of flawless thinking was what set this child of darkness apart from the others.

Hainex's eyes flashed left, right, up, down and center on his target and the area in his view. The falling ash was quick to obscure his vision even with him keeping it out of his eyes. His knife scored a hit though it wasn't as dead on as Hainex had hoped. Was he out of practice? This fighter didn't seem particularly capable. He swung wildly without much form or power. His style was mostly elementary and unpracticed as if he was only used to attacking standing targets. The small cut he inflicted seemed to strain him more than Hainex expected it to or he was otherwise concerned with something besides the fight.

The brief combat was refreshing and cleared his mind momentarily but Hainex was finished with his evaluation. This creature wasn't a threat worth expending further energy. This island was harsh and unforgiving. He had survived this hell for months by carefully conserving his energy and riding his instincts against the serious threats. However it was time to end this. Hainex had figured a plan that was foolproof. This child was clearly a fool as well so there was no possibility of it failing to work. Hainex scowled. The correct emotion to display to lead this sheep. He surged forward and dropping his shield Hainex swung his sword up from below.

The result? Hainex stopped The Edge's ultimate attack from piercing deeper than the fabric covering Hainex's shoulder while mimicking the impact of a solid hit. The feral hunter coughed immediately. A faked straining mockery of injury. The violet-eyed hunter would stagger backwards and drop to a knee while stabbing his sword into the dirt and covering the faked injury with a hand. Hainex locked his stare directly with The Edge's.

"All these days I've walked this hell. A demon among mortals. My solemn quest to find one who would be worthy. My destiny to die by the hands of another. Never did I think I'd be felled by a blade as black as my blood. Now hear me. Under this sky of black on this isle where life is but death in waiting take this burden from me. This ancient capsule is cursed. Within it lies the essence of my masters. It's power corrupts the good and immortalizes the wicked. If you truly believe yourself one worthy of joining the great one then simply open it and breath deeply of this ancient evil."

Hainex's tail flicked into one of his various satchels and produced a small wooden capsule with a single raised button. The tentacle limb shakily stretched back tossing the capsule gently so that the edge may catch it. Hainex then promptly collapsed backwards faking his death.

The Edge always knew he was a prodigy, that had been his viewpoint over the entirety of his life as the chosen swordsman of his deeply cursed blade. His daring ruse had, of course, worked. As the shield-gun boy doubled over in pain, all that The Edge could do was bask in the glory that he had achieved. His teacher had always said he'd amount to nothing if he didn't learn to read, well it was clear who the joke was on now. Not that he was going to spell it out, because he still definitely couldn't do that.

"Finally, a cursed gas for me. When I emerged from the darkness into this life, I always knew that demons and devils walked this earth among us despite what anyone told me. Now here I stand, unbroken despite the wear society has placed on my soul and belief. I accept the offers of your pact of immortalization. Now I embark on a journey only taken by the titans of this world and I shall become truly legendary."

There was no real question, this was true vindication. His entire life, The Edge had been told to grow up and stop being a 'stuck up little ball of pure stupidity and disappointment'. When he returned to a hometown as an immortal both figuratively and literally that would be living proof of the things those adults would never understand. He grabbed his sunglasses and put them on, trying his best to look as cool as possible just in case there was anyone around who was witnessing this unbelievable moment.

Holding the capsule in his hand, looking down on it like it was the legacy of his life, The Edge raised It up to his mouth and pressed the release button. Taking in a deep breath of the gas that had been expelled into the air, he instantly started to feel himself growing more relaxed. Maybe his body was finally receiving an opportunity to calm down given that he now knew he was invincible and couldn't possibly die. However he began to feel weaker, like his body wasn't reacting like it should. Sitting down, he placed his hand onto the floor.

"Huh, this must be a side effect of the whole process. Probably because this demon isn't combining with any of the other demons in my soul. Yes, that has to be it. I am undeniably worthy, after all I wield this blade blessed by the cursed souls of those abandoned by hope and the light."

By now The Edge was lying on the floor, properly struggling to move at all given the effects that he was completely unaware of. There was no doubt in his mind of the fact he deserved this moment of greatness in his life, this was clearly just a brief moment before he ascended to the throne that was rightfully his. Luckily, or unluckily for the brown haired snake-tailed boy who had effectively spiked him, at this point he still maintained some ability to talk.

"It's not that I can't move or anything, I'm just taking a quick break in order to reorganise my soul for the immortal life I am going to live. When you finally pass to the other side I will totally get up and walk away to continue my endless existence on this plane. From one master of the darkness to another, I wish you nothing but the best as you embark on your next journey."

The man in black continued talking as he waited for his victim to die. Continuously talking, refusing to stop. He was practically stuck to the floor at this point but that didn't mean he didn't love rambling about his deluded fantasies.

Hainex kept still holding his faked injury and feigning his dying breaths until he was reasonable sure by The Edge's rambling that he was completely paralyzed. "Alright, now should be good then." Hainex stood up and dusted his shoulder off. There was a small cut but he could bandage that up just fine. Though he did have a new source of food. Hainex walked over to the prone Edge and squatted down beside him thinking about what he could do with him. He was shorter but a little heavier. Hainex pulled at once of his arms and let it flop back down. He didn't seem particularly sturdy. Hainex could keep him as a blood bag but he probably wouldn't survive more than one or two feedings.

"I tricked you." The statement was matter of fact and cut off whatever rambling Edge was throwing at Hainex. It's a shame his mouth wasn't paralyzed, that was quite odd. Perhaps Hainex needed to alter his formula a bit? Though maybe he was just tougher than Hainex was giving him credit for. His breathing seemed fine and his heart rate was probably just as fine. He seemed to only suffer paralysis of active muscular systems, and apparently his incessant rambling was so deeply ingrained in his psyche that it was just something he did without thinking. Hainex shrugged and stood up. He wrapped the edge around the waist with his tail and lifted him into the air before collecting his things and wandering through the woods.

He wouldn't make much of a meal by himself but Hainex had an idea that might net him something worth the effort he expended catching this guy. Hainex bounced the edge's sword over his shoulder as he walked. It was kinda shoddy and the paint job was cheap work at best but it was another sword at least he supposed. "Dude where did you even get this? Is it just spray painted?" Hainex picked at the blade peeling the paint off in chips as he walked. His tail absently rifled through the edge's pockets as well searching for any items of note. The edge of course could feel all of this, as Hainex only paralyzed his muscle movements, not their feeling.

"You didn't trick me! I know this is just a trial by the devil, a mere test to measure the composition of my soul. H-hey! Stop rifling around my pockets. Also, it's not spray painted! I was gifted this priceless relic from my teacher after my years of training under his wing. Sure, I had to touch up the colouring a tad as the black essence had faded from the sacred weapon but I only did what the cursed weapon itself instructed me to."

The Edge wasn't one to admit that he got outplayed, or to some extent even realise he had been outsmarted. Even though he was being carried around in the air by a tail, he was still fairly confident that he had the upper hand in this precarious situation. Glancing around the oddity that was Little Garden as he unwillingly travelled through it, all he could really do was run his mouth in order to try and make conversation with this devil birthed from pure evil.

"When the power of the ancients returns to my vessel, I shall rise once again and exorcise and terminate your possessed existence. Where are you taking me to anyway? Back to your portal to the dark realms? Or perhaps you will try to feed me to your hell spawn, like a mother bird returning to her nest with a meal. Well then, let me tell you that not only do I not taste good but I have feasted on your kind in the past and I know that you're great with a small dose pepper and a large dose of agony."

His nose was itchy, yet he could not scratch. Truly, this was suffering.

Hainex absentmindedly corrected the edge's statements as he walked, interjecting where necessary to elaborate or explain the reality of the situation. His tail found a small notebook filled with interesting phrases, which Hainex appropriated and glanced through as he maneuvered the dangers of the jungle. His feet fell heavily through the brush and Hainex skillfully evaded some of the more dangerous and even carnivorous plants as he walked. "When the poison wears off." Hainex pushed a fern aside making his way onto the shore of a shaded lagoon. "I don't have a portal." Hainex tossed his dagger into the upper leaves and a few moments later a thick vine came falling down. "I don't have kids, I'm barely an adult."

Hainex shifted the limp form of the edge over his head and gave him an almost pitying look as he hung inverted in the air ranting about how he would prepare Hainex. Curious, Hainex flexed his tail a certain way causing the barbs to spike into the bounty hunter with a light pinch to get the blood flowing. It wasn't enough for a proper feeding, more just a tasting really. "You're right, you don't taste good. You should suffice as bait though." Hainex's hands worked quickly. It had been a bit of a walk and he suspected his paralytic poison would be wearing off any time now.

He tied a vine around the Edge wrapping his legs tightly and then chucked him up into the air and over a thick extended branch. The vine would wrap around this branch and suspend the unfortunate bounty hunter only a few inches above the water. It should hold his weight well. Now Hainex just needed to wait. The prickling he gave him should be enough to scent the water and if Hainex was right he should have a catch in only moments. Judging by the almost invisible movement below the waves he was right.

The young hunter wrapped his tail around the vine supporting The Edge and readied his sword drawing it back and extending his free hand in front of him as if to aim. His eyes searched the dark waters, trying to keep track of any subsurface movements. He had to time it just right. "Hey, if you're at all capable please move as much as possible. wiggle your fingers in the water maybe? It helps."

Being hoisted upside down by a crazy demon man was a common dream that The Edge had, usually it culminated in him gaining wings and then shooting lasers out of his eyes but the situation in front of him had no such way out. He still couldn't move, not that it would particularly help him given he was all tied up anyway. From his vantage point he could see the inverted form of his cursed foe holding the branch that he was attached to. What kind of demonic aquatic life could they be summoning using his soul? The Edge hadn't read enough literature regarding the fishes of hell to be fully certain but he could feel some sinister presences in the tumultuous waves beneath his head.

"Let go of me else I smite you. I'll have you know that I graduated at the top of my class at my dojo. I was described as a 'real special one' and a 'once in a lifetime student'. I'm sure the classes they taught were never the same afterwards, partly due to the fire damage but mainly due to my inspirational ways."

All the sixteen year old delusional idiot could do was talk, so talk he did. It was a fairly sunny day on the island and his excellent attire choice of all black clothing meant that staying stationary in the heat was starting to take its toll. The short of it was that he was starting to feel the effects of some minor heatstroke. Due to the whole involuntary human statue thing, he wasn't in the best state to try and shield himself from the inevitable melanomas that would develop if this carried on for much longer.[/color]

"And as a culmination of those forty six reasons I have the capabilities of banishing you to a realm of being that even the darkest demons are unaware of. So if you do not release me from your chains then I will have no choice but to ascend to my greatest form. So- wait what was that?"

He had really lost it at this point, unsurprising considering that he hadn't had a sip of water since being stranded here. That being said, it was fairly unlikely he had been hallucinating the massive dark shape quickly ascending to the surface. Curses, if only he had his trusted weapon by his side and could move. Right now his fate was in the hands of tail boy.

Hainex's eyes narrowed as the shadow in the water became more distinct. His arm wrenched back just a little further. His tail tensed on the vine it held. There was a slight surge in the water that then became a sudden swell as a monstrous reptilian head broke the waves extending on an extremely absurd neck which coiled and twisted like a snake. Hainex's tail jerked down pull The Edge further up and dragging the creature out of the water all the way if it wanted to catch it's meal. Hainex's arm shot forward propelling his sword from his grip. Just like before, it dragged the air around it and burst into flames as it shot over the water and speared the oversized water creature right through it's elongated jaws that were only moments from clamping around The Edge. Instead, they clamped on the air and began to smoke.

The beast let out a frenzied screech and Hainex frankly just forgot he should have kept The Edge held up resulting in him falling towards the wounded water dino as it thrashed and swung it's head and neck wildly. Of much more importance to him, Hainex quickly followed after his sword and the wounded creature, leaping out over the lake and into the water. The creature was trying to escape but Hainex would have none of that, he had been trying to catch a decent meal for ages! Underneath the waves there was a brief struggle that consisted of Hainex wrapped his tail around the monsters neck several times and draining it. The blood failing to make it to it's brain the creature quickly went limp and along with Hainex began to sink into the dark.

Half a minute or so later Hainex came surging up out of the water dragging the creature with him. He hauled it's relatively large body up onto the beach and honestly felt better than ever. He briefly wondered how many could possibly live in a lagoon of this size and then remembered he had let go of his bait. A moment passed over him where his brain stalled out and he was kicking himself for being so stupid, then he realized his bait was both tied up and paralyzed so it's not like he could have gotten far. The question was where did The Edge end up?

From The Edge's point of view, he had been thrown around a little by the demonic child of hell before flying through the air and being spiked by the head of the flailing creature. Luckily for the Chosen One (trademark pending), the hit had sent him flying onto the banks of the body of water and not the water itself. Drowning would be a pretty unceremonious way to die, especially considering all the trials he had been through to reach this day.

Face first in the dirt, the boy in all black tried to wiggle onto his side or back to little success. Whatever witchcraft that Hainex had cast on his tainted heart was really quite efficient, perhaps even he would one day learn such powers when the evil spirits passed judgement on his heart. That being said, right now being immobile in the sand wasn't a great look for him. This would definitely taint his reputation should it make its way around the morning headlines. He could see the headlines now. 'Local Loved Badass Embarrasses Himself on the World Stage'. Absolutely awful, he would have absolutely shames his parents who he wasn't on speaking terms with.

"Hmph, I could do that."

As the red haired lame-o dragged the carcass of the beast that had tried to eat him out of the water, The Edge made his presence known by refusing to shut up again. It's not like there was much else he could do and his brain was too feeble to know that maybe hiding would be a better play in this dire situation.
