Something heavy, Something heavy, Dahlia ran around the docks trying to find what she could use. She grabbed a rope as she ran along, thankfully most of the people had closed doors and abandoned unloading their ships while the fighting was going on. ’Wait, Shipments! That’s it!’ now knowing what she was going to go for she found it rather easily. A large wheeled cart stacked high with cans of paint from pastel to gloss, it had more than she cared to count, and she didn’t know who owned it but it was exactly the type of thing she needed.

There were two oxen connected to the cart and it looked like they were calmed down even though whoever was leading them had disappeared somewhere. Thankfully the oxen didn’t pay any attention to her even as she hopped up onto the cart. It was well constructed and the paint was or whatever else might be in the metal cans was strapped down with ropes to keep it together. She wasn’t sure exactly what she was going to do but at this point some people were coming out now that the noise had died down a little so she had to do whatever it was fast. She wasn’t sure if it was going to work as well as she thought but this was the best chance she was going to get.

The men working were slowly coming out but Dahlia had other plans, She hopped up onto the top of the cans and tossed the rope around the Oxen horns. The animals were not too happy about it but they didn’t pull enough to knock Dahlia down. ”Hey there folks! I’m gonna borrow your paint for a bit. Although I wouldn’t count on getting it back any time soon! Super important Pirate business to take care of by by.” She tossed a firecracker near the back of the animals just as the men were getting a bit too close. She gripped hard as the Oxen took off running, having been spooked by the noise of a small explosion behind them.

The cart kicked up dust as it blasted through the docks and Dahlia struggled to control it. ’this better be enough, and I freaking hope that guy is at least on his way.’ ”Out of the way! Coming through, Express delivery!” it wouldn’t take long as long to get back as it did to get there, the Oxen were moving much faster than she had.

Don rubbed his temples and let out an exasperated sigh, glancing back once more as the other fishman left to go tend to the old man. His manner of speech and facial expressions gave off some worryingly apathetic tones, but at least he showed a common interest in keeping the old man alive.

Don looked down to Gruff, who was resting on the ground near Don’s legs. ”What do you think we should do now?” Of course there was no point in waiting for a response, since Gruff was an animal.

Might as well keep a lookout. Don whislyed over to Gruff and motioned to follow as he walked off. He didn’t know exactly where they would come from, but he had a general idea of the right direction due to the noise earlier.

Don found a path within a wooded area, one which connected to the area they just fought in. This path seemed to head back to the town, and even worse; those pirates’ captain. Or whatever made that sound. Don crouched down and propped himseld up against a tree, trying to sight any movement. He whistled over to Gruff, its head turning up to look at him before flying off for reconnaissance.

Geralf started by tearing off the old man’s clothing which was hindering the wound, plus it was quite dusty from the event that happened earlier. Scanning the wound, the doctor could see some shrapnel still lodged inside the wound. He then placed a cloth on the old man’s chest and took out his scalpel and started to press it on the man’s skin making a three centimeter incision on the top and bottom portion as a stream of blood came pouring out of the open wound.

‘Ugh, so troublesome.. It was during times like this that I wished I am in a surgery room.’

Geralf cursed upon himself of his current situation, if not for the information he needed from the old man he wouldn’t have bothered to help. He lacked the necessary equipments to have a smooth operation but he knew he was better, he needed to improvise.

Taking another piece of cloth, he twists it and placing it around the incision effectively containing the blood so that it wouldn’t get messy. Geralf then takes a few clips from his kit and clips it on the wound and spreads it apart. With a tweezer in hand, Geralf guided it inside the wound and pulled out shrapnel of around four centimeters long and a few smaller pieces.

“Hmmm, I think there isn’t any left inside, time to close it up.”

Geralf reached for a thread and took a good portion of it and sticks it in a needle, he began to sew the wound close and places the clean cloth over it. Wiping sweat over his forehead, the fishman sighed for a sloppy job but good enough to keep the old man alive.

Dahlia was anything but subtle on the rumbling cart pulled by Oxen, she was suddenly reminded of the chariot races on her home island. The real difference is that the people here were not already out of the way so she was having to pull and dodge around people that were diving out of the way. She cackled madly as the wind whipped past her, she pulled the cart around the corner. People were ducking back into alleys and jumping out of the way as the little dwarf zoomed through the street.

”This isn’t exactly what I had in mind but it’s fun! Coming through!” The last corner to turn down was closer than she thought and she made a sharp turn. The cart tilted on to one corner and slammed back down only to speed up as the movement made the Oxen more frightened. Near as soon as she got on the path she could see Don watching the path and at the other end a shadowed figure stalking up said path.

”Don, I found a thing! You might wanna hope on or follow” The cart was just about to pass him now ”Cause I can’t stop it now!” She lost sight of him as she past and she identified the shadowy figure as some sort of guy she didn’t want to deal with. The man was massive, at least double Don’s height and these guys must be the strong arm crew because he too was massively muscled with a Skull tattoo on his chest.

Dahlia didn’t get much of a chance to analyze this though because she was closing in at an alarming rate. The crazy man was charging directly down the path regardless of what was in front of him. Just as he was about to meet the cart he grew even larger, his body was covered in fur and he grew horns on his head, This guy had a Zoan Devil fruit! He brought his hands up and stopped the Oxen full tilt.

Dahlia had to think fast, the cart was moving up as the momentum brought it but was too rigid to flip without the Oxen going with it, and this dude was holding the Ox by the horns. She chucked two small bombs at the restraints holding the cart too the Oxen causing it to continue up into the air. She lept off of it landing behind the Zoan user as the whole shipment of paint slammed down on top of him bursting cans over the ground and burying him under a mountain of color and metal. Dahlia looked back at it. ’Did that do it?’

What have I gotten myself into? Don rolled up his coat sleeves and sighed, resting his head against the tree behind him. The bark of the all white tree was soft to the touch. It wasn't a substitute for a pillow, but something was better than nothing.

Hmm? Don's head turned up to look behind him as some leaves rustled. Gruff had returned, landing on the ground in front of him with a concerned expression. It let out a snarl and stared down the path to Don's left, indicating that something was wrong.

"That captain couldn't be coming already, could he? No, it's still too early.." Despite Don's reassurances to himself, a loud snarling noise had indeed resounded earlier. It was entirely possible that this captain had come in a fit of rage.

Rumble, rumble

To Don's surprise, the sound of something rapidly speeding across the ground begun to grow louder. Somewhat like the sound of a stampede, except coming from a single source. Was it their captain? Don quickly pushed himself up and scanned the area down the path. He couldn't see anything from the distance. Wait, no. The sound was coming from another direction. Back at the shop?

Don was confused, unsure of what that sound was. Had the captain already gone past him and arrived at the shop? Don stepped over a thicket of grass and onto the path, looking down to his right as a something came into view. A cart.

It sped down the path towards him, barrels and cans stacked atop it. The fishman had little time to register what was happening as it shot by. He just barely heard the miniature girl's voice squeak out as he passed him. Wait. She's charging straight at the captain!?

Don had half a mind to just up and leave the island while the captain who he had yet to see was occupied. The fishman grit his teeth and inhaled a deep breath before sprinting down the path after her.

The cart was moving at a rapid pace down the path. It seemed that she'd gained lots of momentum even before passing him. Don's own physical ability let him just barely keep track of it, but catching up was another story. As he sped along, the worst thing he could hope for happened. The enemy captain appeared.

Don wasn't entirely sure about the man's identity, but his appearance gave off enough information. In addition, he donned the tattoo of a skull on his chest. Don briefly caught sight of a similar tattoo on the red-haired man's chest as well, but it wasn't something Don payed much attention too. More importantly though, the man began sprinting forwards towards the cart. Is he stupid?

Instead of dodging out of the way, the man began charging head on at the incoming cart. What reason did he even have to do that? He had no evidence to even think that Don was related to it. The answer to that question became slightly more clear as Don grew closer, catching a small glimpse of the man's face. There were many distinct features about his face, but there was one very simple thing that the man's face radiated in that moment; anger.

CRASH

Don didn't get a good look at the impact, vision blocked by the cart itself. It seemed to fly up into the air, followed by a crash down onto the man. A mass of paint and cans formed a blob which made it hard to understand what happened. Cans of paint were quite heavy despite their rather unimpressive size, and that cart had a lot of them, moving at a rapid speed. Now the question was if they did their job.

Don slowed his run down to a jog as he neared the crash, breathing quietly as he surveyed the area. It was quiet and motionless, the only sound audible being some yelling from behind, presumably the captain's men.

He dead-? The paint suddenly shot up, shrapnel of cans flying all over. What entered Don's ears next was a loud and guttural roar. I guess not.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Geralf knew and it was against his ethics to perform an unprepared operation but he knew he had to keep the old man alive and he very well did. He began to wipe the blood of his surgical tools and arranged them in order before replacing it back on the kit then put it back on his pocket. The doctor had always been prepared for things like this, but not to this extent much more that this was in an open field where the danger lurks on the air.

Looking down, he could see that the old man was sleeping peacefully, facial expression had already relaxed. The pain of the operation didn’t seem to wake him up from his deep slumber, it made Geralf wonder what the hell is he dreaming about being that Geralf himself was a light sleeper, a bit of nudge would be enough to wake him up and in a way he was quite jealous of the old man.

“Maybe I should just take him with me, I’ll have to squeeze the information out of his old mind sooner or later.. hmmm.”

The doctor began by picking up the old man and placing him over his shoulder and looked towards the direction of the other fishman. ‘Don, was it?’ Geralf seemed to remember the little creature called out to him, the other fishman was under a tree and judging by his looks, he seemed pretty exhausted from the battle earlier. Catching a canon fire like that was no easy feat, at least to Geralf.

“I’ll need to ask him what his business with this old man is first, he seemed pretty interested and maybe he could help me with my need.” Geralf assured himself as he went to the direction of Don, and in a matter of seconds, he noticed a cart on his peripheral vision; on top was Dahlia pulling the reigns and speeding towards the small alley way between the bushes.

‘What is she thinking? She does seem to have the affinity for danger and it seemed that she was enjoying herself as well.’
Geralf thought as he shifted his attention towards Dahlia and the cart, the speeding cart then rammed onto something and then a loud roar came from the direction.

”ahahaha!” Dahlia giggled as she sailed over to the other side of the paint explosion. She landed down without much incident finding cushion on a nearby bush. Her little celebration was cut short however as an angry noise came from under the pile of cans. A small mushroom cloud of multi colored paints and shrapnel from the cans and cart sprayed the area, temporarily giveing the trees and plants color. Standing at the center of it all was a large buffalo like man, but instead of his regular brownish coloration he was head to toe a bright glittering purple.

The face of rage directed at her could only be described with one word: hilarious. ”pff” She couldn’t help herself, the way his face was, the buffalo combined with the color she was laughing at him. The huge man did not take kindly to this, but he didn’t speak no, he just charged. Dahlia wasn’t about to just sit there and let him get a hit in not after what he did to those Oxen. He was coming in hot though so she did the only reasonable thing, she dashed right between his legs.

He dashed right over her and smashed his head into the tree right behind her knocking it over. ”oh hey, I guess they didn’t need that tree nice gardening there bud.” She continued her scurrying back towards where Don was. ”So, hey Don about that softening him up thing. It might not have worked.” The Buffalo man was getting back up and turning to face them. He let out another bellow and started chasing Dahlia. ”Oh come on, your subordinates liked to monologue what happened to that! Don’t you have some ‘ohhoho I’m so much stronger than you look at my fancy devil fruit’ speech to do before you chase me all around this path and back into town! I’m pretty sure there’s a mob or something waiting for me back there.” His hand slammed down where she just was, his size making it much harder for him to pin down Dahlia. Dahlia wasn’t helping much as her rambling might just be her teasing him for his inability to actually hit her. ”oh wow, see that was way to close, you should probably back up and try something else. You almost knocked my hat off with that one.” It definitely seemed to be pissing him off more at the very least.

Don grit his teeth as the large man stood up, not incredibly happy that he'd have to deal with him. Couldn't he have just slipped on some paint and knocked himself out? Sure, if the captain was as strong as the red-haired man, slipping and banging your head wouldn't do much harm. Don knew this too, but at the moment, he really just wanted a way out of this.

Ugly motherfucker aren't ya. Don finally got a good look at the man as he charged in the fishman's direction. A zoan fruit? He'd gained the visage of a beastly oxen, something that made Don's headache grow further. Couldn't it have been a swan or a peacock?

An oxen was just pure brute physical strength, something that large man really didn't need more of. The girl's called out once again, Don narrowing his eyes down to see her. She was speeding towards him, large oxen man in tow. He couldn't quite catch up to her, so at least Don knew he was slow.

Finally, he had found something which granted him relief. The jagged red-haired man who Don fought earlier wasn't too fast in very close quarters; unable to swiftly spin around and doge. But he was by no means slow. His swings and kicks had caused the wind to blow, and Don had been just barely able to dodge the man as he lunged for the fishman. On the other hand, this oxen beast of a captain couldn't even catch the little girl while running in a straight line.

After putting in more thought though, Don began to worry more. Sure, he could blitz this large guy, but the man was still supposedly the captain. Unless there was some massive misunderstanding, the red-haired man was a subordinate to this oxen beast. His lack of speed had to be compensated by something. And that one thing was fairly obvious; strength. One hit from those massive bulking arms, and he could likely leave Don unable to stand.

This'll be tough.

Don clenched his fists and glanced back, catching sight of the other fishman down some distance away. Don's scales hardened and he inhaled a deep breath, ready to face the incoming ox.

‘What was that loud roar just now?!’

Geralf wasn’t exactly used to hearing those kinds of bizarre noises; he got spooked for a bit and maybe the hair on his nape was already standing if he one, he grew aware of his surroundings, his focus intensified as he wondered what kind of beast would make such bizarre noises.

“I need to get the old man to somewhere safe first.” Geralf looked left and right as he scanned the surroundings for some sort of cover or shelter that would prevent the already injured old man from getting caught in another battle that Geralf thinks that is about to happen, his body might give out since his healing capabilities isn’t as fast as it used to be, furthermore he had just underwent a surgery and stress isn’t going to help.

To his left, he could still see what’s left of the store and large chunks of debris are scattered across the field. A few steps going to the right is another oddly shaped structure of pure white, it doesn’t seem to be heavily damaged but a few parts had been torn off by the chunks of iron that came through earlier.

“That place seems safe.” The doctor nodded as he looked over the structure and noted that it was still erect and isn't falling apart, the doctor struggled to pick his leg up and moved forward in an awkward pace, clearly he has not fully recovered from the beating he received. There was a stinging pain from his back and though the old man was quite light, there was still a bit of weight to him that added to the pain.

Halfway down the distance, Geralf felt the urge to turn around and check what the other two were up to. He could now get a full view of what the origin of the roar was, it came from a massive bipedal bull; his body and arms was thick, he had a menacing look on his eyes and an intimidating tattoo on his chest but his legs lacked the thickness of his upper body, they were quite slim in comparison.

“Hmmmm, a Devil Fruit user? Come to think of it, this is the first time I’ve seen one.” Geralf muttered to himself as he had only read the legend of the sea demon that granted power in the form of a fruit to those who had eaten it, but with great strength also has an equivalent downside to it, they would lose their ability to swim for as long as they live.

“Another troublesome person has appeared.. could this day get any worse than it already is?” Geralf sighed as he turned and continued on his way and upon reaching the structure, he lays the old man down and again turned to the other two.

It’s not like Dahlia wanted to bring this guy back to don but she didn’t really see much of a choice. Despite all her taunting she wasn’t in the type of shape to be picking on someone her own size much less someone twenty times as large. She just barely managed to keep away from another swipe and it looked like he was just using the strikes to pick up speed at this point rather than even aiming at all. ”Hey, I feel like you just gave up and you’re just running now.” She couldn’t tell if she was getting to him any more than he already was but she really couldn’t think of anything else. Then he spoke for the first time.

”Shut up! Do you ever stop making noise!” His voice grumbled out a like gravel against bare skin, it almost hurt just to listin no wonder he’s a man of few words.

There was only one response Dahlia could think of within the first few seconds. ”No, but then again I didn’t know you could talk. I figured your brain just shut down that part to make room for all the bulging muscle.”

This time when the giant hand came down it snatched as if to try and grab her. He felt something in his hand when he lifted up but Dahlia herself was still running just in front of him. She looked back at him with his clenched fist.”oh hey, you seem to have grabbed my bag by mistake, could you just make sure not to pop anything in it! I would really like to have that back actually.”

Dahlia didn’t actually mean for him to get a hold of that, all the rest of her impact bombs were inside there it would be really bad if he actually figured that out. For half a second Dahlia thought maybe he realized something to that effect but that fear was unfounded because he tossed it up and swallowed it. ”oh come on who does that! Rude.” The lumbering Zoan user continued his pursuit with renewed vigor and they were closing in on Don now.

Dahlia herself ran right between Don’s legs. ”hey don I might be a lot less useful cause he just sorta ate all my stuff. I’ll try and help out but uh, yha punchem’ in the gut”

Albeit lacking in size, the little girl seemingly made up for it with spunk. Her voice continued to prattle out as she taunted the behemoth right upon her, while just barely riding the edge of life and death. If anything, at least that was admirable.

She's got courage I guess.

Whether or not that courage would end up killing Don was yet to be seen. Although he was pragmatic in his actions, Don preferred to play an optimist in this situation. That was natural of course, since his only other line of thinking involved his untimely demise by the hands of this oxen beast. And that wasn't particularly a line of thinking he sought to subscribe to.

"I’ll try and help out but uh, yha punchem’ in the gut”

Don gave a nervous grin and nodded as the girl dashed past him from between his legs. The fact that he was going in completely solo did not really help his confidence. At least a bomb or two could have been nice.

"Alright," Don mumbled, gritting his teeth. He'd gotten this far with his own strength, what was one more fight? Those bombs wouldn't have helped much either, right? Whatever the case, Don had to fight. He hadn't even found Amos yet, so he couldn't just leave now.

Here he comes.

The oxen man closed in, just then entering striking range of Don. The man roared and raised his arm up as he charged forwards. With the finesse of a sloth, the ox-captain slammed his arm down towards Don. His giant arm acted like a baseball bat. Don instantly shot to the right, leaning down and leaping away. The man's arm smashed upon the ground, the impact causing white dust to fly up.

An opening. The man's lumbering attack left him wide open. Now was the perfect time to attack. Don acted immediately, dashing straight at the man's side and raising his right arm for a punch.

With a shout, Don struck out and punched out. His fist slammed against the oxen man's ribs, causing him to stumble a little to the side. Don grinned and stepped back, watching to see what he'd do next.

The ox stood there for a second before letting out a guttural snort. Did that do it? The ox's head turned slightly, eye's glaring up at Don. No? Following the turn of his head, the ox stood up straight and clenched his hands into fists before suddenly roaring incredibly loudly and banging on his chest. Don could almost feel the vibrations from him banging on his own chest. I guess not...

The ox-man lowered his arms and then glared at Don, charging straight at him. Don gulped and then sprinted back down the path towards Dahlia. "Fuck this! We need a new plan!"

The sound of fists hitting ground rang out behind her. ”Oh wow, I would have thought he might hit if his target wasn’t so small” She managed to look behind herself to see that Don was noping out about as hard as she was, and this guy was basically punching himself and it was doing nothing.

”Oh, well shit. Um, planning session time.” Dahlia pulled the goggles from her hat to her face and snapped her gloves. Of course she didn’t bother to stop running while she did that, in fact the blur from her tiny legs started to kick even more dust. ”So while I would very much like to explode those bombs he swallowed, I don’t think punching him in the stomach is likely to make him cough them up after that. I really, really, really, really, don’t want him to hit me, so I’m thinking he’s probably not immune to bullets and or poison. His face seems like it might block the bullet though, and I’m not necessarily out of tricks. I’ve got an idea but we need to keep running.” She winked at don as she tipped her hat suggestively. The scenery was letting out back to the docs and while they were not quite at the docks proper the shop was closing in fast. The Devil fruit eater was too close for comfort, it was practically breathing down her back, or at least his arms length was.

She could see Geralf standing in the distance and shouted at him ”Hey, get some of that stuff ready! This guy isn’t going down easy!” The Dwarf wasn’t hoping for any sort of Deus ex Machina here but an opening would be nice and a poison that weakened him would maybe make that sort of opening. ”Hey! Beef for brains, any plans to actually catch up or are you gonna keep swinging wide. I mean far be it from me to tell you how to fight but I mean if MY crew were beat up I’d actually want to land my hits.” This was going to be a risk but she couldn’t have this guy chase geralf, he was much too fragile if he couldn’t dodge. She would need to get that poison and administer it herself, she should be able to get at least that in.

Amos began to walk down the streets of Gesso Island, unsure of what to do at this point. He had nearly killed a child and that weighed heavily on his heart. Somehow, the paint had worn off on him. He wasn’t entirely sure if it was a timed thing or if he had done something to trigger it, but he didn’t mind being able to be seen after being invisible for so long. He had containers on him so that he could reapply his invisibility whenever he felt he needed it.

The most amazing thing to Amos was that he been unable to locate Don after all this time. He was beginning to think the Fishman was lost and sold as a slave. He had not expected that to be possible, as the Fishman was more than capable of handling himself. However, the situation was as it was. If his friend and Crew Member was sold as a slave, then Amos would need to deal with that. He refused to let his ally live out the rest of his life as a slave. He would free him. Amos reached a hand up and counted his arrows. He had plenty, and he even seemed to have his three magical oak arrows back. Those were dangerous, as Amos had discovered not too long ago. He still couldn’t get the image of that poor child impaled with an Oak Tree which had grown around him. It was the worst thing he had ever done.

As Amos walked, he began to notice signs that something strange was going on. The first sign he noticed was that the street was for more clear than normal. He was heading towards the shop where he had bought his clothes at. He figured that if Don was a slave then that would be the best place to begin his search for the buyer. However, this street had been bustling the last time Amos had come down it. He couldn’t quite understand what sort of commotion would cause a street to clear out like this.

Then, Amos heard it. A roar. It sounded like a beast from hell had created the noise. Part of Amos said that it was none of his business. Afterall, that was a true statement. He had nothing to do with the roar that seemed to come from slightly outside of town. The other part was – of course – interested in what manner of beast created the noise. Amos thought about his options and decided that it was best to investigate the sound. He had no idea where Don was and if there was something going on then it was unlikely that he would be able to gain access to the shop where he had bought his clothes. He could check it out later. Besides, it was unlikely that Don had become a slave. The man was monstrously strong.

The noise seemed to be coming from Amos left. Towards the dock maybe? So, he turned that direction and began walking down the road. It wasn’t a far walk before he reached the edge of town. He continued walking out of town and towards the docks. Noises were continuing to get louder as he walked. Eventually, he saw the source of the commotion. He didn’t expect what he saw. Don was fighting what appeared to be a lumbering giant.

“Ughh.. I really don’t want to be in any part of this..”

Geralf frowned and cursed upon himself, he was not really expecting this at all. The only thing he came for was the information and to locate the library, but got caught up in a chain of events that led to his face translated into a punching bag and now a bloodthirsty brute with powers hailed from a demonic sea creature of legends, out to impale someone with his massive horns.

Then the doctor hears Dahlia screaming with her tiny voice to get the toxin ready as she dashes away from the beast in between the other fishman’s legs while he stood his ground against the Devil Fruit user, “It isn’t that simple, and I sure do hope someone could give me an opening so I could puncture that thick hide of his.” Geralf, left without a choice decided to help the other two in taking the pirate down.

Looking around, all he could see were lush greenery of trees that lined up along a narrow dirt road; the tree trunks were quite thick and might as well be good for a makeshift barricade or some sort, ‘Hmmm.. Maybe we could use that to slow him down a bit while we formulate some sort of plan to down him.’ The doctor shifts his cane to his left hand and slowly crept towards Don. “Hey fishman! Maybe we could use those trees as a makeshift barricade to slow him down a bit!”

Geralf was uncertain whether Don heard him as there was some distance between them and the wind was also blowing loudly eastward; then looking at the pirate, he noticed that some paint had been slathered over him. “Hmmm.. There are still cans of paint still intact, maybe I could use those.” The doctor thought as he began to dash towards the cart Dahlia used earlier, on his peripherals he could see Don sprinting back down towards the Dahlia as the pirate turned towards them for another charge.

As he got near the wrecked cart, Geralf slides towards it while grabbing a few cans at the same time. He then looked down at the paint in hand, scanning the labels for the ingredients. “Hmmm.. As I thought, these are oil based paints.” His frown then turned into a grin with a brilliant idea already in mind, flashing his jagged teeth as he shifts his focus towards the pirate. The paint contains flammable components such as methanol, ketones, and toluene which if came in contact with Dahlia’s bombs, could burst and maybe take the Devil Fruit user down for good.

“I’ve got an idea! But I need you guys to make it work!” The doctor then turned towards Dahlia, “You tiny creature! Do you still have your bombs?!”

Don sprinted away from the giant ox, not taking a moment to glance back. The oxen-captain only seemed more infuriated now, and as Don knew well; adrenaline can let you surpass what was previously thought possible. Thankfully, going by the footsteps behind Don; he could estimate that the beast wasn't too close.

The fishman caught up to the girl and slowed his pace, running alongside her to hear her plan. She brought up poison, something Don just remembered. The other fishman was a doctor, more so than Don himself was, and Don even vaguely remembered him injecting something into one pirate. If brute force wouldn't work, poisoning the large bastard wasn't a bad idea. "Bullets won't pierce his hide, hell they can't pierce mine - but I think poison might just work!"

Speaking of the other fishman, Geralf came into view and Dahlia called out to him. Don glanced up to him; who was now a key player in all of this. Don was just happy that he didn't run away. The fishman called out to Don, suggesting he use some of the trees as a barricade. "That would be lovely, but uh... I can't!" Don turned his head back slightly, catching sight of the humongous ox who was chasing him down.

In the midst of running away from certain death; multiple thoughts ran through Don's head. As it was now; Dahlia and Geralf needed time to prepare. At the very least, they couldn't do anything at the moment. And they wouldn't be able to prepare anything while being chased down. So that left Don with one option.

Fuck, I wish Amos was here.

Don inhaled a deep breath and glanced to his side at Dahlia. "Run to Geralf and prepare something with him! I'll stall for time!" Don turned his head back straight and then kicked off, sprinting at full speed away. No longer running at the same pace as Dahlia to hear her, he quickly begun to put distance between him and the ox. It was just when he had put space between himself and the captain when Don slammed his foot down and spun around, halting all momentum. He stood there unwavering, the ox continuing to run straight at him. Don didn't even look to see if Dahlia was still running in his direction(and she was quite hard to see if you weren't paying attention), nor where Geralf was. At that moment, he just hoped they were using time efficiently.

Here he comes. The space between them shrank, and Don counted down the seconds before impact in his head. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Now. Don's scales hardened instinctively, but he didn't attack. Instead, he stared intently at the ox's legs. That was what he had been doing the entire time. Just to find and opening. And now he found it. Don dove straight down at the ox's feet, ignoring the two fists slamming down at where he was. The fishman's body hit the ground, rolling straight forwards and miraculously; between the giant ox's legs. He didn't just roll between his legs to evade and attack, his tail struck up and slashed out vertically. Being between the man's legs, this could only mean he hit one place.

ROAR

The ox let out an intense roar of pain and anguish, stumbling forwards and grasping his private parts. Don didn't stop to laugh, instead running away back down the path. The oxen-beast let out another guttural roar, one that almost shook the ground. This time, Don had really pissed him off. It bought time, but hitting the creature in its balls also made it even more maddeningly furious. It spun around, getting on all fours as it charge back after Don, who was running back towards where Geralf and Dahlia should have been.
