Achievements:Newl has assaulted several marines, most notably Lyun, leader of a marine outpost, and Nolan, a man who leads a small division of marines created for the soul purpose of capturing small pirate crews. Newl has also defeated a pirate crew who's total bounty accumulates to 4,000,000 belli total, the Pruh Pirates. He also overthrew a tyrant of a small island. The tyrant's influence was not great or powerful.

Newl defeated a Great Tyrant named Marshall Nero, who was at Grand Line levels in strength within the North Blue. It should be noted that this tyrant had rather potent political influence as he was able to hide his crimes and prevent the marines from having a proper grounds to incarcerate him. After the Tyrant's sudden plummet from power the marines were given a case to arrest him on.

Martial Artist

A Martial Artist is someone who specializes in hand-to-hand combat, completely or very close to unarmed. They usually have good insight in the aspects of weight, balance and movement of the body. Characters with this profession have access to certain additional traits and may create "Stance" techniques.


Weapon Specialist

A much more general fighter-type profession, a Weapon Specialist is someone who has to a large or small degree devoted his/her life to the mastery of a single weapon or weapon type, such as Swords, Axes or Whips. This profession applies generally to melee weapons.

Hair:Dusty gray, almost black, thick hair which falls down just past his ears. It has become a bit shaggy over the years.

Clothing/Accessories:Newl wears a light blue short sleeved shirt with a very faint silhouette of a marine symbol embroidered on the right sleeve. Wearing khaki shorts, with large pockets, they are hung upon his waist by a simple though practical rope belt. Finally there is a small green ornament that hangs from his neck, or when it's not the gem is tucked away in his pocket. This ornament looks almost like emerald, but upon close inspection it can be clearly seen to be just a very nice looking rock. Upon close inspection this ornament has a crack running through it though the rope holding it is also holding it together.

General Appearance:Newl's body has fully developed into adulthood, not longer awkwardly lanky but matured with strength and well proportioned growth. A build that wanes a bit more to the lean side, Newl's body appears better equipped for precision and speed although such attributes are not prominent of him. His skin is lightly tanned, showing off the hours he's been in the sun. Still young he has a full though short goatee, reflecting his physical growth as a whole.

The Character
Personality: Once cowardly, shy, passive, and easily shaken, Newl has become a strong willed, brave, outgoing, and confident young man. Though he has an oath of chivalry, he wouldn't let a woman harm himself (considerably) or someone he cared for. To better emphasize this attitude, Newl can almost be described as fiercely loyal to those he grows to care about to the point of forsaking even some of his more prominent and sacred morals. Not one to be defined as a pirate in a traditional sense, it is only because of a recurring weakness of lacking proper foresight that has lead him to be branded as such.

Considering his decently calibrated moral compass, Newl takes the traditional stance of approving marines for what they stand, while in this same vain he disapproves pirates and what they stand for. While taking what a person calls themselves with a grain of salt, he tries to reserve his more refined and permanent judgements of someone after getting to know them on a more personal level. While all these things remain generally true Newl has developed a new sense of apathy that grants him skepticism and most interactions.

Hometown:Newport Village, Smokey Island, North Blue
History:Newl grew up lonely and bullied for the overwhelming majority of his childhood. Much of this was rooted in his unwillingness to stand up for himself, which itself was rooted in the consequence he feared would follow (injury, further isolation). This met it's abrupt end after his father, a traveling merchant who finally returned after many years on a caravan, started to train his son up in the values of bravery and strength. Though this interaction with his father was short lived, it continued under the wing of a very close family friend, survivalist, and retired marine Nolan Brin.

Nolan, or Uncle Nolan as Newl affectionately referred to him as, built upon the basic foundation Newl's father laid, teaching the young man martial arts, the use of yoyos as a weapon, survival in the elements, and even navigation. He learned all of these things at the side of Nolan's personal pupil Tared to which Newl became as close as a brother to.

After returning home from the time he spent training under Nolan many of Newl's past harassers decided to test Newl's new-found merit. Almost relishing in this opportunity he easily defeated the punks that made his childhood difficult and in spectacular fashion for all of Newport Village to see. This easily capture the attention of Lieutenant Squall, a man who lead Newport's local marine outpost, a man who became very insistent to Newl about joining his branch. To his dismay, and hidden fury, the lieutenant was denied every time. Squall was obsessed with having powerful men work for him and he just saw Newl as another potential subordinate.

Squall's career took a very favorable turn, rising considerably in the ranks, though his inability to persuade Newl always scratched at the back of his mind and heart... Until one day he saw an opportunity. His son had been dating a young girl named Scarlet, who was also Newl's sister. Squall, out of a moment of overbearing zeal and improper judgement, gave the girl an ultimatum; convince Newl to join the marines under his command, or he would do every thing his power allowed to charge her brother as a criminal. As a gut reaction she fearfully begged to be taken in his place. Squall found a new prospect show itself, rather than forcing Newl to work under him, he could force his sister to suffer at his hand giving the young man no proper means to do much about it. Signing Scarlet up amongst his ranks he immediately petitioned to be reinstated into the Grand Line while taking a handful of his men with him. One of which was Scarlet.

Furious, Newl set out to rescue his sister from the man's clutches, quickly finding himself inexplicably being labeled as a pirate. Not really understanding how this had happened, he decided to take full advantage of this new lifestyle forced upon him going so far as breaking the law to rescue his dear sister.

Unfortunately right after his latest exploit on Medi-island his makeshift crew found themselves driven apart from each other. Newl didn't let this derail him as he pursued Squall on his own accord. Taking on his base located squarely in the grand line he found himself swiftly overwhelmed.

Shackled and apprehended Squall dragged Scarlet before him she apprehended as well. "Your sister has been an asset to you hasn't she Trickster" Scarlet dare not to look Newl in the face as he began to demand of her where Squall was going with this.

"Aiding a wanted criminal is treason... and there is only one punishment for such a crime."

Newl began to struggle as he spat obscenities at Squall, right until the moment Scarlet's head started rolling on the ground. In silent horror he felt his body go limp at what he had just witnessed. Providing no fight or struggle he allowed the marines apprehending him to throw him on a sailless boat as Squall ordered he be sent to drift aimlessly upon the blues.

Coincidental or not Newl was found by a passing pirate ship, the captain actually rescuing him. The captain told Newl if he helped them with a raid he was planning then he would help Newl get back on his feat or even offer him a place on his crew. For almost the entire time he remained silent, then just as he was about to depart he finally spoke. "I need food and water... then I'll help." For the next yeat he was effectively a part of this crew to pay back his debts until he request they take him back to the North Blue.

Reluctantly the captain agreed. He sought out his sworn pirate hunter older brother to either turn himself in or get his help. Luckily for him Tared was never that serious about apprehending Newl. With that the same began to break Newl beyond his limits, teaching him the secrets of Haki.

Abilities and Possessions
Combat:Newl fights using a fighting style focusing on efficiently building and delivering momentum into hard hitting attacks. The very same fighting style primarily uses strenuous and hardening exercises intended to boost the user's stamina and long term stability in a fight.

Acrat Fighting Style


Weaponry:A solid steel yoyo about 5 inches in diameter, this yoyo has 10 feet of string and retractable claws/spikes. He also owns a pair of yoyos with the Nolan family crest upon it, these are a keepsake from his mentor and uncle. These let him 'summon' his uncle for assistance. Link for reference.

Items:
Morality Goggles-When Newl wears these snugly fitted red tinted goggles it allows him to perceive others who are morally corrupt, or wish to do him harm. Over time the goggles pick up on smaller and more insignificant faults in others to the point that most people will be deemed immoral or aggressive to Newl. This effect can be reversed by simply removing the glasses. Link

Awakened Haki (4 Traits) Requires 100 SD and must be located in the Grand Line.
- The character has awakened their dormant ambition and is able to utilise this mysterious force in combat. They may specialise in one of the two basic colors (The Color of Armaments or The Color of Observation) or a Dormant Specialization. For their specialist color, the character's Haki maximum rank is 1/2 Fortune. For any other color, the maximum rank is 1/4 Fortune. They are also capped at rank 44 for their Specialist color techniques, and rank 28 for any other colors.

Disciplined Haki (2 Traits) Requires Awakened Haki and 150 SD earned
- The character has trained and disciplined their ambition, allowing them to unlock their true potential. They are no longer limited by Rank caps, and their non-specialist maximum rank is 1/3 Fortune.

Conquering King Haki (1 Trait) Requires Disciplined Haki and Dormant Specialization
- Those who chose to have a Dormant Specialization are able to take Conquerering King's Haki at 200 SD earned. This will allow them to overpower weaker enemies and combat their foes with sheer force of will. They will specialize in the Color of the Conqueror.

Advanced Acrat (Martial Artist Techs) Mastery (2 Traits) - Requires 100 SD earned. This replaces Acrat Mastery if the character already possesses the trait.
The character has attained supreme mastery in one specific weapon or form of attack that they have Martial Proficiency (can make techniques greater than rank 14) with. All techniques using this weapon or form of attack are always treated as being four ranks higher for purposes of calculating their technique rank benchmark, though their actual rank is not changed. Additionally, all techniques which gain this benefit have their focus cost reduced by half.

The thin layers between the skin and the bone in his elbow allows for a much more forceful attack. Plus, there is much less momentum used in this attack, allowing the attack to be more powerful then potency punch. The only draw back compared to potency punch is that his range is about halved. Description:When hurt, Newl focuses very intently on blocking out any agony that plagues him so much so that he no longer feels pain. This is a technique that takes intense stamina and mental fortitude. This ability does not magically heal his body, but rather endures an injury so that he will not let the pain itself hinder his movements or actions. His body still gives way to strikes and suffers from fatigue, he just won't necessarily notice the effects immeadietly. Damaged greatly enough, Newl's focus will snap and he'll be forced to deal with whatever he's suffered with since before the technique's initiation to the point of it's completion. This helps Newl ignore the effects of techniques.

Description:Newl throws his yoyo at his opponent and performs a round-the-world trick on his opponent's body spinning around from top to bottom. Then like a string on a top he yanks his yoyo back sending the opponent spinning. The main brunt of this damage comes from sending the opponent slamming into a structure such as the wall or ground. If the opponent can keep their balance then the worse effect is dizziness or disorientation. This will send airborne opponents plummeting to the ground. (Effects:Displacement, disorient)

Description:Newl has mastered the art of manipulating his own and other's force and momentum. The essence of this attack is focusing this force into a strike. With this manipulation the explosiveness of this attack sends the opponent hurtling into whatever direction Newl has punched or kicked the foe into. Not limited to opponents, he can also send all manner of things flying at explosive distances and speeds. Though naturally the more fragile and weighty the item the less effective it will be. (Effect:Displacement)

Description:An advance technique of the Acrat fighting style in which Newl has honed Superb Ignorance so well that his body doesn't even give natural physical reaction to most attacks, akin to super armor so to speak. He forces his body and mind into such a state that even the innate desire to fall back or respond to even heavy hitting attacks do not properly effect him. However he still feels the agony of all attacks, and it does not protect him from any damage. The benefit comes from the ability to truck through almost anything and keeping the pressure on opponents. Effectively this gives Newl resistance to the effects of other techniques and his ability to ignore his desire to flinch from normal attacks.
