She would see a man that was the same one whose ship just burned down towards the ground. She was a little confused on why he thought this ship would be easy to take over, but if she had to put any type of thought into it, then it was simple. Two women and a man carrying a bat didn't look like anything you needed to worry about in battle. The town was full of white even Alexis didn't see this coming, a town that had no color at all. Alexis has seen many people like this on her travels wishing to take something just because it look like it would be easy, defeating all three of them like it was nothing at all. "I didn't think someone would try and take my position, not in this way at least." She said looking at him, her red gaze on the man named Jack. She would sigh, thinking and saying what was on her mind. "This had to be the first thing you have in common Marshall, and Nyx." She said her eye's looking at them both then the target man who was wishing to take her ship. "I don't think you could take my ship, or will I let you." She would hold one hand up, but it just looks like she was doing nothing, she started to move her hand oddly, as she moved her hand in a way that was turning something around, and in reality she was turning her scythe, so the handle side was facing him, but nobody could see it. Her hand would slowly raise up, as she would level her hand near his head. And with that moment, she pokes his head with the handle of the scythe without him unable to see it. It wouldn't hurt him too much if anything he should be in shocked from how she could hit him, with her hand that far away. "I don't see a point in beating you up, so I would rethink about taking this ship." She looked back to her members. "Don't fight unless you think you need to." She would say looking calm. |

Jack was surprised to see the only one of the three who wasn’t carrying a weapon be called Captain. She didn’t appear to have a strong build either, so he wondered briefly why it is that these two follow her, until the invisible handle of the scythe touched his forehead that is. He jumped back a bit, uncomfortable by the touch of something cold that he couldn’t see, but at the same time he couldn’t help but draw Kaiyō – the longer of his two swords – and swing it rather wildly between him and the unexplainable hard fact he was facing. He was surprised to hear a noise though. A noise which was familiar to his ears perhaps even more than his own breathing: the sound of metal on metal, which puzzled him even more. It took him a moment to straighten his thoughts and come to the only conclusion he could come to: “You’re a devil fruit user.” he finally stated, with little doubt in his mind. Devil fruits were the only explanation for the unexplainable in this bizarre sea of the grand line, or at least the only one Jack knew of. Looking around him at the confidence each member of the crew showed that they could take him in a fight, he couldn’t help but realize that these guys were bound to be stronger than the Tricorn Pirates – the people he stole his first ship from – who were ready to gang up on him at a moment’s notice. He put his sword back in its sheath, but kept one of his hands there, just in case there was more sudden movement. It seemed as though the pale haired captain of this ship wasn’t going to attack if her words were to be believed, but Jack was still nervous from the surprise he went through. “I think I might have underestimated you. Your power and confidence intrigue me, but fighting you now would mean I’m doing it to take your property and that’s no longer my wish. So let’s save it for later.” |

Marshall's ears perked when he heard Nyx more or less said the same thing he did. He was surprised at first, but then he realized that it fit her personality just fine. Alexis voiced that this was probably the first thing that she and Marshall had ever agreed on before, but that didn't make them similar people. He couldn't speak for Nyx's exact reasoning behind her decision, but Marshall was devoted to Alexis for multiple reasons, most of all being that she saved him from a fate of re-enslavement. And who knows, maybe there was some deep psychological reason behind it, like Marshall's instinctual ex-slave tendencies causing him to be loyal and devote to Alexis. Of course Marshall wouldn't ever even think of that possibility; his mind just doesn't think that way. This is just Blades' rambling as per usual. Anyways, it seems like Alexis had an idea on how to solve this, so Marshall simply stayed quiet and kept his bat drawn just in case. By this point, Marshall had gotten used to Alexis' devil fruit powers, so once he saw her fingers moving, he knew precisely what she was doing. It wasn't too long till the invader had been scared out of his wits from being seemingly poked from afar, and the metal "clang" that he made by swiping the air looked like it just added to his fears. Marshall couldn't help but grin when the man sheathed his sword, obviously realizing at this point that he had messed with the wrong crew. "Glad we could come to an agreement. Now, care to get off my captain's ship?" |

It seemed everyone had the same idea as far as Marshall and Nyx's response to the man arriving on the ship. She supposed they were right in that sense though, neither of them were afraid to stray from a fight when need be. For Nyx she supposed she didn't share the same sense of obligation to the captain as her crewmate did, but she did have a sense of belonging beginning to form in this crew and had agreed to work under her new captain. Well that and also the fact that she just had a great disdain for fools appearing out of nowhere and disrespecting them. "How about we think of it less of us being similar and more like..." She paused for a moment trying to come up with the right words, her sword still trained on Jack. "More like a competition to see who's the more useful one in the crew." She grinned, perhaps the one who could first take out the intruder would be known to be the stronger of the two. It seemed that there would be no opportunity to test this as Alexis more or less told the both of them to back off for now and handled the situation all on her own. The two of them both knew right away what was happening upon seeing the strange movements of her hands and Nyx couldn't help but laugh as the man jumped back when the pole of her scythe poked him in the head he even instinctively drew his sword. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the long sword and before she knew it the blade dancer had dashed back to the deck of the ship and was standing right next to the man eyeing his weapon from a much closer distance. "Oooooo! Not bad at all. I guess you're not just some amateur after all." She sheathed her sword now and stepped away again. The captain asked her not to fight unless it was necessary so she would hold back for now. Still, that meant roughing this fool up was left to her discretion. A sinister grin spread on her face as she turned back to look at the intruder once again. "Well then how about this. You hand over that sword of yours and we'll let you go with no hard feelings. You're lucky the captain stopped me." She spoke in an accent much like one of those street thugs in the movies. Perhaps intimidation wouldn't actually get her anywhere, but this was more so just for her own entertainment now. Besides, the guy seemed harmless enough and had already seen it was pointless to try and take on the three of them. |

Alexis needed to think with her scythe and devil fruit ability, she could make moves to the point they were odd, yet still being a secret. Alexis would swing the weapon over her shoulder but didn't turn it clear as it was her weapon, and if you don't know what type or kind it is, that gives her a hand up in battle. She sighs for a moment, hearing Nyx, they both had strength, but we didn't have the time right now to see who was the more powerful member, but did Alexis think it was she? We will never know until that day comes. Nyx made Alexis let out a small laugh, seeing her just run up to someone without thinking about being attack was a shock. She would blink, saying to Nyx. "You sure this is your first pirate crew?" She would say looking at Nyx with a blank expression, as it was her idea to rob him. She moved back into her weapon, but not before hearing them clash. "Yes, it is a devil fruit, but I don't plan on saying which one." She said with a smile, it was many of them that had different powers. "I think that's the best move, it's not like I would let you take it without a fight." She would say not losing her cool at all, her red eye's did lock onto him for a second, asking a question. "It was a ship was being burned at sea, may I ask, did it belong to you?" She said waiting to see if he would give the answer. She was only guessing but he did wish to find another ship that could get him out of here, and trying to attack a pirate ship it met he wished to get out of here. But Alexis wished would keep her ship safe. Edited by Kaguya Light1, Jan 2 2018, 09:34 AM.

The reactions of this odd crew continued to surprise Jack through their variety. He certainly did not expect the captain he challenged to be the friendliest of the bunch. It was a rare sight in this sea to encounter people who could command his respect with their loyalty to each other rather than their strength alone. Still, his arm moved on its own when Nyx challenged him, a gentle movement to be sure, not intended or aimed at anyone in particular, but it was clearly threatening, he was too excited by the prospect of fighting someone who knew the value of his swords. Perhaps it was the few months of completely peaceful merchant life which made it so or perhaps this Nyx person was truly worthy of his excitement. “I’m glad you like the swords. But I’m afraid I like them more, and I’d rather you pry them from my dead body than give them to you willingly! They have… special meaning to me, perhaps more so than any other named swords out there.” The captain’s swords took him off guard though; it was rather embarrassing for him to be seen through so easily. Of course, the act of stealing a ship right after his was burned was a very logical course of events, yet this woman was making him feel more silly by the second, before they even actually crossed swords at all. His face flushed a tiny bit from embarrassment as he answered: “Yes, that was my ship.” he paused for a bit before continuing: “Well, I took it from some pirates near Reverse Mountain. I’m not sure if that made it mine, but as weak as they were, they sure as hell weren’t going to survive much longer in this sea.” He had lowered his sword slightly as he spoke to the female captain. At this moment, only part of him wished that Nyx would insist on taking his weapons, but another part, a smaller part, wished that somehow, there would be another conclusion to this. He didn’t know what it was though, just that he wanted it. |

Marshall just wanted to roll his eyes a bit at what Nyx he said questioning who was the "strongest." They indeed had a little rivalry going between them, and he had to admit that he felt fairly confident that if push came to shove, he would wind up on top, but he still felt that the idea was rather silly. There was no reason for them to know who was stronger between the two, as they were on the same side and (in a rare case of optimism for Marshall) didn't see that changing any time soon. Granted, Nyx hadn't exactly been apart of the crew for that long, but he guessed that in the grand scheme of things the crew was fairly young to begin with, so whatever. Marshall simply stood back and watched the other three talk, which included Nyx trying to claim ownership of the intruder's sword (and idea he could actually get behind) and Alexis questioning the man about the burning ship (which he confirmed was indeed his). Marshall's first instinct was again to roll his eyes a bit at the latter part, but he stopped himself short; after all, this was the Grand Line, and they had only just now arrived themselves. Nothing was completely out of the question, and feeling that someone had surely set that ship on fire purposefully, Marshall was suddenly questioning the idea that they all leave the ship and head into the island. Yeah," strength in numbers" and "don't split the party" and all that, but.... well, you know. |

The blade dancer smiled a bit at the man's response. "Now that's the kind of answer I'd expect from a true swordsman. I can respect that." She spoke while backing off for now, not as a sign of fear or apprehension really. It was more due to the fact that the captain didn't really want them to fight right now and she wasn't really interested enough in his blades to go into a life or death battle for them. Besides, she could admire his commitment to his weapons and the more he spoke the more the crew was able to make of his true character and intentions. "This is definitely my first pirate crew, maybe that's why I've been having so much fun with this, hehe. Still, let's just say that I'm used to claiming things that I want ever since I was a kid." Even though she had never considered it before meeting Alexis and Marshall perhaps the pirate's life had always been the life for her. Stepping back now though she listened to the man speak of the ship he had stolen and was then burned down not long after wards. Now that she thought about it though the man now standing on their ship looked a lot like the one she saw a bit ago on the docks chasing after someone. "You can't really call the men you stole from too weak for the Grand Line when you got your ship burned down five minutes later. I even saw you fail to chase after the guy earlier. Although I suppose a much better question is who the hell did you piss off in such a short amount of time that they came along and torched your ship." She spoke in a mocking tone, this was the first time since joining that she had the chance to assert superiority over anyone else besides Marshall so needless to say the woman was enjoying this a bit more than she probably should have. Sure there was Alexis but honestly she was such a kind and stoic woman that it was no fun and there was also the fact that she was the captain. Regardless though none of this was really their problem. Him stealing someone's ship or having been attacked at the docks or whatever had nothing to do with them. In fact the only part of this that was their problem was this fool trying to commandeer their vessel and at this point he was only getting in the way of them exploring the island. "So captain, why exactly are we still talking to this guy? We still have a whole island to check out and his problems aren't our problems. You don't want any unnecessary violence so we can let him off with a warning or tie him up to a tree or something and move on." |

People sure did like to fight, but oddly enough Alexis couldn't say, she herself was any different when facing a strong opponent. Alexis would look at them both Nyx and Jack. "You really shouldn't give her that option." Alexis would say thinking it was a small chance it could happen, Alexis has killed people in her life. After hearing his answer, Alexis would speak. "I see, but stealing my ship would take a lot more work, and simple talk, but it does sound like you left another group of pirates on an island and now, the same thing has happened to you." Alexis would set her red gaze on him thinking, that is the type of world we live in. Alexis was kind of the opposite, having the life, that everything was given to her, but yet had to stay and keep in line. Nyx said the same point she just said, but a lot meaner, by calling him weak. Alexis was kind, but yet could remove all emotion, she has killed several nobles, and pirates, that is how the first bounty came into view. "I don't recall saying, you couldn't use unnecessary violence? I said don't fight unless you think you need to, it is your choice, I wouldn't stop you from doing anything, I only would get in the way on matters that I think others should deal with, and this doesn't fall under that." Alexis would say looking at Nyx. She did have an idea, looking to him, and did take odd people on her crew. "You may travel on my ship, until you pick to leave?" She said, asking him to join her crew, it was odd but Alexis thought he was someone, who was interesting. But as they were speaking, a crew in the town started to cause destruction, you could hear, yelling, shouting fires lighting up, but this was not just your everyday, people attacking this town, it was big name pirates. Several, rocks flying like bullets from the sky itself, many of them come down even towards the docks, aiming for the four people standing, Alexis, Marshall, Nyx, and Jack, Alexis stood there, as her scythe cut the rock in half going right past into the sea, her scythe was now visible, looking stright to see who had done this. “Well, it wasn’t five minutes later, I can tell you that much, and I wasn’t present when the ship burned either. But anyway, that’s not something I’d like to get into right now.” He thought it would be counter intuitive to point out that the Tricorn Brothers are most likely dead and drowned now, especially since he didn’t really confirm their deaths and contented himself with defeating them. Jack thought he liked the ship’s captain more and more by the second. He found himself sheathing his sword when he realized they were getting along quite well. He paid no mind to Nyx’s suggestions, not for right now anyway, as he heard the captain ask him to join on their voyage. It was admittedly a much better idea than taking the ship by force, and certainly preferable to finding another ship to take or buy passage on. It was also rather convenient that he had everything of value to him in this world already on him. “I would be very glad to accept that offer”, he said, “Thank yo…” Their conversation was interrupted by a rather noisy display of violence inside the city. Some of the debris seemed to have been thrown in their direction. Jack sliced the rock that might have hit him clean through. He was more interested by the explosions and all the fire. “I think I have a good idea who’s causing all the explosions at least. The red haired bastard who burned my ship disappeared in that direction. I was too much in denial to pursue him at the time, but I think I’ll be going to beat him up now.” “By the way Captain. I don’t think I caught your name yet. Well… I should probably introduce myself again in a nicer manner now.” he paused awkwardly before adding: “I’m Jack Clive, nice to meet you all.” |

There was only one way to describe how Marshall looked when he heard his captain extend an offer to the swordsman to join their crew: disbelief. Of course, that disbelief immediately shifted into a shrug of acceptance; this type of behavior was just in line with Alexis's personality, and it wasn't really surprising to be honest now that he thought about it. That didn't mean he liked the decision, but he wasn't the captain; it wasn't really his choice to make. So he simply shook his head a bit and let out a sigh. Maybe he should look on the bright side: it wasn't necessarily a permanent thing based on Alexis's suggestion, and he might decide to stick around only temporarily regardless. And even if he was around for good, at least it was another guy in the crew. Who knew, maybe Nyx would suddenly develop a rivalry with him due to the whole swords thing and bother him while leaving Marshall alone for a change! Yeah, and maybe pigs will fly. Marshall isn't exactly an optimist, you know. Marshall considered saying something on the matter, even if he was the quiet type, when suddenly they were all cut off by some loud noises occuring from the island. There seemed to be some sort of fires and general mayhem, and it wasn't exactly hard to pinpoint the source of the chao because of it. So when some rocks suddenly started flying towards the ship, Marshall wasn't exactly caught off guard. The others were able to quickly get rid of the rocks heading directly towards them, while Marshall quickly batted away any other ones that were coming close to the ship. It was just like baseball all over again, only with larger balls and more than one coming at a time. So actually pretty similar to some of the "practice" games his old master's son made him go through. It seemed like the new guy, Jack, figured that the person starting the fires was likely the same one who burned his ship down, and thus was going to go find and beat that person up. Simple and violent: Marshall found no problem with it. Still, he figurerd he should at least voice his concern from earlier: "So, should someone stay with the ship just in case? Or we just gonna take the risk that it'll be fine when we return?" |

Much like Marshall she was also pretty shocked to hear the captain extend an offer for Jack to join the crew. Considering they had just met him and he had tried to steal their only means of travel it did seem a bit out of the blue. Then again it was pretty similar to how she had invited Nyx to join them not too long ago on Loguetown. The woman simply shrugged her shoulders and accepted that this was happening, it wasn't like she had much room to complain considering she had just joined them herself and could only assume that this was the way the crew was known to operate. Still, she couldn't help but lack trust in the man that was now considered an ally. Nyx decided that voicing her opinion wouldn't really change the captains mind and thus decided to stay quiet about things, but she would be keeping a close eye on the swordsman for the time being. Sure enough as he was in the middle of accepting their offer a large explosion could be heard from the town as well as the general chaos that followed. The force of the explosion had even sent a bit of debris heading their way on to the docks. While everyone else opted to attack with their weapons, Nyx was a bit more comfortable with just nonchalantly dodging the rocks and such. "Considering the timing maybe it's a sign?" She teased at Jack. Even the gods had deemed him unworthy of joining their crew and had thus brought about great misfortune on this town to prevent him from accepting the offer from Alexis...or something like that. Truthfully his explanation of it being the man from before appeared to be much more likely to be true. Nyx sighed, how troublesome, they still hadn't even had a chance to head into town and really get to know what this place was all about. What was up with the colors?! "I suppose we should know each other's names if we're apparently going to fight together. My name is Nyx Avalos, I'm kind of a big deal in this crew and since you're the newest member you better be ready to start from the bottom of the totem pole!" She said with a grin, seizing the moment to place herself in a position of power in the nonexistent hierarchy of their crew. They could sort this out later though if need be, there were bigger things going on in town. She wasn't really concerned with fighting someone for no real reason, but they couldn't leave the island with their amount of supplies and they had to head in town to get things anyway so the situation was more or less unavoidable. If the only problem was that man from before however then they could just have Jack deal with him. He was the one with a grudge after all. "We still have the deck hands on board. They can keep things under control I'm sure." She responded to Marshall's question of the ship. |

Alexis had an odd way to ask people to join her crew, but this was the grand line, the sea off powerful foes, she has to trust herself, in the way of just knowing it was the right choice. She looked at the scythe seeing if the blade was clean, and it was, Alexis really was a master of her weapon. "My name is Alexis Crimson." She just said paying attention to the matter at hand, the town was being destroyed in front of them, as something odd could be noticed if you paid attention, the people that lived in this town caused harm towards their own place of living, running away with several different colorful items being crazy. "Marshall is right, that is why i will watch the ship, and look where I can on the island." Alexis rested her scythe on the ground, as she pulled her arm up into the air. As she did this a long wire could be seen shooting up high into the sky, it started to wrap around the entrance and the walkway that people needed to enter the deck, disappearing from their sights, being an invisible wall. "I made a wall of invisible wires that should keep anyone from entering until we get back." Alexis really was getting the hang of her devil fruit, having the wires around her hand. "But I can only move about 15 feet from the ship." As she walked away she stopped and said. "Oh, I wouldn't touch it, because it's coated in poison." She said in a calm way, eyes closed walking away after picking up her scythe. Alexis could see people running around with, scarfs, paint, and anything else that showed the beauty of colours, everyone killed each other or tried, with them yelling out. "I will have all the colours and become rich!" It was a little confusing, as Alexis stopped in place as her wire no longer reached. "It could be dangerous, but we have no choice, everyone needs to look around the town for food, or water, as we can't sail anymore without having supplies. It might be best if we split up." She said knowing that was the right choice, for the crew as they would die without having them. But in that second several groups of people looking like they were from this town gathered around the reaper pirates, yelling out right away. "GIVE US, ALL YOUR COLOURFUL ITEMS!" Acting crazy something had to be in the water here? They had swords, axes, and other items for melee attacks.

"Put me wherever you want, but I'm definitely not doing any chores." he said in response to Nyx. The whole situation had unfolded so quickly that he didn't know how long he'll be staying with them, so there wasn't enough reason for him to get competitive yet. Still, he thought he'd definitely like it here, and Nyx seemed strong, no matter the case he thought he'd really like to spar with her some. Maybe on the next island. As the mob of the town gathered around them, Jack cursed. The faces he had known for months seemed changed somehow. They were not at all acting like their usual selves. "I don't think they are in their right mind." Jack's reaction to this was simple. Whatever was causing this was behind this mob, so his destination didn't change at all. He walked forward towards thd gathering people, sheathing his sword in the meantime. The first man to swing at him was dodged. The second tried a downward cut exactly in front of him. Jack caught the blade between his palms and used all his might to throw the guy into everyone who was behind him. He then, as the angry man got up, jumped and used his head as foot hold to jump even further up and land behind everyone. "I'll be going to find the explosive jerk and find out what's happening to these people." |

It seemed like everyone was taking the time to introduce themselves and state their names, so Marshall figured that he might as well be a good sport and join in with his own introduction. "Marshall." Yeah that seems good enough. Fast forward a bit, and Alexis was starting to do a lot of her invisibility stuff again. He had to admit that it was rather impressive for her to do something like coating the ship in invisible wires, but it did make him worry a bit. I mean she did realize that they didn't know where the wires were, right? Plus he wasn't exactly sure how her fruit worked, and it could be possible that even she wouldn't know exactly where they were unless she had some sort of sixth sense for her invisible items. Actually you know what, just thinking about this stuff made him feel more and more nervous about Alexis and her devil fruit powers; it'd be better to just not think about it. It wasn't too long till something similar to an angry mob had gathered by the ship, and they certainly seemed to be behaving abnormally. Of course this island could just be full of weird color freaks, but he didn't really want to think about that. Alexis had decided to stick with the ship and suggested the split up to get supplies, but it seems the new guy was dead set on getting to the bottom of this mystery. And not that he didn't trust this guy to suddenly start wandering off on his own.... well no, to be honest he really didn't trust this guy. And that meant he only had one choice. "Have fun finding supplies, Nyx." the young man said nonchalantly over his shoulder as he approached the mob himself. He didn't want his stomach injury to flare up, but he also didn't want to really hurt any of these people too bad, so he sucked it up and jumped into the air. Copying Jack's technique, he pretty much bounced from head to head across the crowd until he was past them, at which point he proceeded to catch up with the swordsman. |
