"Colored cloth here... colored cloth for your drapes... colored cloth for your sheets... colored cloth for a rainy day... here you can use beli to buy colors..." Jack yelled for the hundredth time. Business was slowing down. His idea had been brilliant at first, and he made a lot of money with it, but it had run its course rather quickly.

Last time Jack's story had been told, he was in a cave with a man named Nakashima. They had decided to form a crew, and were going to fight some such band of thieves. That was a few months ago. Jack woke up that day inside a deep hole with neither Nakashima nor any of the people who were with them there. He didn't remember much about how he ended up that way, but by the time he managed to climb out with his injuries, everyone else he knew on the island had sailed off somewhere.

Since then, being broke and battered, Jack needed to think of someway to feed himself. His only property at the time was his swords and his ship, and selling either was out of the question. Going around the market, he was able to find himself a job subbing for one of the merchants for a few days. It was actually a wonder no one here seemed to realize he was a wanted man. That is, until the doctor he and Nakashima threatened came to the market one day. Jack was fo course fired, but not before he had himself a brand new bucket of paint. He was able to buy himself some food and some help to get his ship running and leave the island. He did not go very far however. Instead of getting the hell out of there, he went to a nearby island, and bought as much cheap colored cloth as he could, then brought it back with him to Gesso.

At first he simply used it to buy his own little shop near the docks and get a bit more equipment for his ship, but after meeting a few rich people willing to pay top beli for some pieces of color, he was able to make some actual money doing it. Still, this did not last very long, as his luck ran out a few weeks after when the cloth stopped being a novelty for the locals and they stopped buying his product all together.

It's probably time to get away from this place for good... is today the day I sail out?! he thought that morning. It was definitely true that he missed the challenge of a good swordsman, but he prefered not to waste this last batch of local currency and turn as much of it into beli as possible.

Marshall awoke from his extended slumber in a groggy state, wishing he was able to sleep in. But if he remembered correctly, they should be approaching their first island in the Grand Line rather shortly, and he needed to be awake, alert, and ready for anything. After all, they didn't exactly leave the Blues on the best terms with law enforcement, and considering everyone who entered the Grand Line had to go to one of five islands... well let's just hope they would wind up on one with a low Marine presence.

And so Marshall forced himself up out of bed and began to get dressed. The reason he was feeling so exhausted was that he had spent a lot of time training before bed, and perhaps didn't get as much sleep as was healthy of him. But he had to get stronger as they began their journey in Paradise; it was unacceptable of him to need Alexis to bail them out of trouble with her devil fruit power. If he truly wanted to serve his captain well, then he needed to be her Dragon, and he had a long way to go until he was powerful enough for that.

After he got ready, Marshall picked up his seaking bone bat and proceeded to head up to the deck of the ship. He flinched a bit when the sunlight shined down hard on him, but he quickly got over it. Looking towards where the ship was sailing, he could see the upcoming island getting larger and larger as time passed on. He might not feel completely ready for this, but he had to be.

It had been some time since the crew had entered the Grand Line, and while Nyx was pretty uncertain at first she had more or less acclimated to where she was and where they were headed. The first day spent after crossing the Red Line was more or less her time to relax and rest from how hectic the last couple of days had been. She was also finally given the time to get her room set up and decorated and even get her workshop tools set up. She didn't really have much of a muse at the moment to try and smith anything for herself, but she was more than welcome to check out the crews weapons and attempt to touch them up or improve them. Other than that she spent time touching up on her own equipment and growing used to the new ship.

After that she wasn't seen much around the Weaver unless going to the kitchen for food or someone was specifically looking for her. Perhaps it was due to the fact that she had spent the last few months sailing alone and wasn't used to the company of anyone else but her swords or perhaps she just felt more comfortable in her own space. Regardless, the woman spent her time crafting and training more than anything else. It was what she was used to doing on her own in order to pass the time and she figured it would be some time before they hit the first island anyway.

That brings us to today, the day of their arrival to the first location. Honestly Nyx didn't even know what the name of the place was or where the hell they were at, but she was glad to see land once again. It meant they wouldn't have to deal with any more random storms on the ocean and the ship being rocked all over the place by the waves. The seas in the Grand Line proved themselves to be rather harsh, but they were seemingly blessed by the goods with a sturdy vessel and a great sense of direction. As Marshall stepped out on to the deck this morning he would likely be able to see Nyx out there training. The woman had been awake for a bit now and was alert and ready for their arrival. She held End in her hands and took practice swings at the air at a steady pace. She wasn't what to expect from their first trip into the Grand Line after all and was feeling a little on edge. She also shared a similar feeling to her bat wielding crew mate as well. She needed to be stronger, much stronger than she currently was. That man on Loguetown basically tossed her around the room and Alexis's father was still out there as well and that man was a complete monster.

"Morning Slugger. I see we had the same idea, huh?" She spoke in between swings, not really turning to look at him and instead remaining focused on her own work for a few more moments. She ended the set of swings with a final slash that was much quicker than the others, her blade cutting through the open space in front of her and causing a slight distortion in the air for just a moment before dissipating. Nyx simply smirked at the sight of it, a sign of progress being made before sheathing her handy blade and finally turning to see the man. He seemed a little out of it despite his attentive nature, but Nyx more or less attributed that to him being a meathead more than anything else. "Oh, by the way, have you seen the paper recently? Spoilers: it features a certain set of daring pirates and their fantastic new smith."

Alexis knew a lot of information, but, sadly the route they were on was unknown, giving this was the grand line, she had skills that a navigator would have, but she still was not one, so knowing where this place was would be useless to the young pirate captain. Alexis would be up, robbing her eye's in her nightgown, she was still a little tired, but she did recover a little from that attack her father used, but what worried Alexis the most was thinking there could be people like that all over this ocean. The scythe that she carries changed everything and made her into a wanted pirate was all set up by him, but that would be the end of him trying to control her. She wouldn't do what he wished.

So far the grand line is a lot harder and she thought it would be, giving the random changes in weather, but this ship was paid for with a lot of money and had many strong people that could keep it sailing, so far, it was nothing to worry about. Alexis would open her door, walking out, she didn't get changed yet, but Alexis did use her devil fruit turning invisible, she would walk out onto the deck, speaking but nobody would be able to see her. "I'm going to rest in the bath, we will soon reach the island."

Alexis didn't say it but hoped they knew not to peak. She opened the door to the hot spring/bath, stopping her fruit's power after the door was closed. She would enter it, but still able to hear them. "News?" She would blink, thinking what Nyx could mean. "What news?" She knew it had to be about someone new being in their crew. "Did you gain a bounty?" She guessed only Nyx gained one not thinking her own had gone up. Alexis was now in the water, smiling and relaxing, with her nightgown off, away from the water.

"I see you are here today too, Señor Jack.” came a voice from the side of the road. Jalapeño was napping in his favorite spot by the carpenter shop when Jack opened shop for the day. It appeared he woke up.

“It’s not in your habit to wake up this fast, Jal. Are you sure you don’t want to buy all of this so I can go on my way?” Jack gestured towards the lot of his merchandise.

"Why would I do that now… It’s more fun if I buy a few things every day. And there is always the chance you’ll just get up and leave and I can take it all for free anyway.” responded Jal as he got up, putting his large colorful sombrero back on his head.

Jack shrugged. "It was worth a shot… So what will you be taking today? How about this cow boy hat over here? I dare say it would suit you.” he said, knowing full well it wouldn’t hold the man’s attention.

"I hope I don’t look like a cowboy to you, my friend. I’ll take that new poncho you have there. It would go nice in my collection.”

"That’s four thousand beli, my friend.” Jack said with a wide grin on his face.

"Robbery is what that is. I’ll give you one thousand for it.”

"You could take the hat for one thousand.” the swordsman added, shrugging.

"Don’t make me pull out my gun.” said Jal playfully.

"Fine fine... three thousand.”

"Two thousand.”

Jack pondered for a moment. If he were to be honest, Jal’s enthusiasm for colorful clothing was about the only thing getting actual cash flowing into his business. Otherwise, Jack just gets paid in paint for his everyday necessities, or has to wait for the occasional outsider. As one would guess, Jal was an outsider who settled here. Or more precisely, he was a pirate who was shipwrecked here and decided that it was time to retire and spend his old age in a marine-less island. Jack knew the constant flow of cash and jewels could only mean that he managed to salvage his own treasure from the wreckage, but he wasn’t interested in fighting an old man for his retirement fund, especially not an old man who was skilled enough with a gun to have a private collection of colorful clothes on Gesso without anyone ever attempting to steal it. "Alright, sold. But you take the hat too, for eight hundred.” he said, wondering if he’d be more interested in fighting the old man if he were a swordsman. He thought he might.

"Alright, that’s a fair bargain, I think.”

"Are you sure you don’t want to buy the shop? I really am leaving soon.” said Jack as the exchange went on.

"Adios, mi amigo!” was all Jalapeño had to say about that.

Marshall let out a slight yawn after Nyx said good morning to him, though she didn't turn to face him. That wasn't a bad thing, mind you; he actually admired her focus on her given task, and training was definitely more important than idle chit-chat. "Not exactly," he responded. "I stayed up a bit too late training; figured I'd get up early to warm up a little. Who knows what'll happen today..." As he spoke he stretched a bit, loosening up his muscles and cracking his neck a bit. Maybe she would look down on him (even more than before) for not adopting an "always training" mentality, but rest days were important too, and he wanted to be fresh for the day if needed.

When he heard his captain call out to them, the young man instinctively turned around to find no one there. He frowned a bit in annoyance; he really felt that Alexis sometimes went invisible just for the sake of it, whether it was her "floating" on their way over Reverse Mountain or just disappearing around the ship. Still, didn't really matter to him how she chose to use her power, so he simply shrugged and moved on from it.

Nyx then proceeded to bring up the latest paper, which made Marshall raise his eyebrow. He still wasn't entirely sure he liked all the attention that came with being a pirate, and it was sure to just go up now that they were in the Grand Line (or go down because they were now fish in a bigger pond? He wasn't sure exactly how it worked), but at the same time he kind of felt proud about it. After all, he wasn't just some no name slave anymore, but a (somewhat) feared pirate. Kind of a good trade off if you ask him.

Once she had finally turned to take a good look at the man she could see a bit of fatigue showing in his face. It seemed he wasn't lying about staying up all night working hard to improve. It was a great quality to have in a man, especially in one she was forced to trust to watch her back out here in the sea. If she recalled correctly, back when they were escaping the Marine's on Loguetown Marshall was the one who was most against them using Alexis's powers to escape due to her wounds and exhaustion. For a man who was a former slave he did have his fair share of pride, huh? Perhaps that was what made him strong enough to escape in the first place though.

As she began to mention the paper however the disembodied voice of Alexis entered her ears. It was like this woman was a ghost or something with the way she just walked around casually in her concealed state. Well, with everyone up on the deck now it seemed that her training time was definitely over which was fine, they would be touching the island soon enough. She put away her sword and waved in the general direction of where the captain's voice was coming from and then shrugging towards the clearly confused Marshall. At first she was uncertain of why exactly she decided to come up here like until the sounds of the woman's foots steps walking away were heard and she closed the door behind her. This was soon followed by the sounds of running water. "Don't tell me you were invisible because you came up here naked Princess." Nyx remarked in a playful tone. It was certainly a possibility but she wouldn't poke fun at Alexis too much, besides she needed to get back to what she was saying before.

Going over to a nearby table she grabbed the paper that she had been reading earlier and tossed it over to Marshall for him to himself. Of course, Nyx was beaming from ear to ear before he even got a chance to read the headline and he could certainly expect to hear an earful from her in just a moment. "You got a bounty bump up to twenty seven million and you're being called the Dark Knight for some reason. I suppose its a better name than what I would have given you. Captain is worth thirty million now and is being called White Reaper, makes sense. Last but certainly not least there's me. Twenty million bounty baby! Not bad for my first bounty and they even gave a me a solid title." She made sure to speak loud enough even for Alexis to hear her in the bath nearby. While she did have the lightest bounty she was certain she could catch up to the two of them in no time at all.

"I suppose I should mention the fact that we ended up taking the blame for that massacre your dad committed since you can't read the paper at the moment." While that fact didn't bother her too much she couldn't be certain about how Alexis would feel about it. On their way up Reverse Mountain she did seem to have a bit of a moment in regards to her name and her family even though the woman over came it soon after. "Well, no matter. We're in the Grand Line now and about touch on our first island. Let's figure out where we are, gather some supplies, and all that good stuff."

Sure enough about fifteen minutes later their ship had reached the docks and they were officially on Gesso Island which was a strange place to say the least.

Alexis was a pirate before forming this crew and was on her own, so using the devil fruit did become a habit one that was unknown to her, even when using wires to hold herself up, it was a good chance Alexis didn't know she was using it. Alexis was enjoying herself in the hot/springs type bath, it was unneeded for a ship to have something like this, but Alexis would just not pay attention to that comment, she liked the idea of having a nice relaxing place to be alone with her thoughts. Alexis would let out a soft smile. "I might be able to turn invisible, but I wouldn't do that, just because you can't see me, doesn't mean I walk around naked." Alexis would say thinking her new crew member like to tell jokes.

She would be drying herself off as the water was turned off, she put on her nightgown and walked out of that room back onto the deck with them both able to see her now. "White Reaper, I can see why they call me that, but Nyx you got one thing wrong." She looked at her with a blank expression. "Twenty million is the least on this crew." She would walk away with a soft smile, after telling one of her own jokes, ready to get changed. "Taking the blame for my father's actions doesn't shock me, a noble has many people even in the marines they can control, all he would have to do is make up a lie." She would continue to her room, but leaving she would start to get change putting her clothes on and it would take time, but as she was ready.

Alexis tied her hair down and wears a white and blue blouse with black jeans and black high heels and sometimes carrying around a black purse, she will wear this when it's no crew matters or marines coming after her, after being dressed in this she left her room, as the ship was getting closer to an island. Alexis, maybe not be a noble anymore, but still kept herself looking presentable.

"We will soon reach the island, but be ready the grand line is not a safe place, and we could be attacked at any moment. We need to find out where we are, and some food, we don't have a chef anymore, but I know how to cook." She still dislikes the fact one member was gone, but she did say you are not forced to be on this crew. "We also need a Log Pose." Alexis was making sure all the stuff we needed was marked down. "Marshall you shouldn't train yourself so hard after having just been injured, the body needs time to rest and recover to get the most out of your training." She would say with a smile, but also calm, Alexis wished to make sure everyone was safe. In the next post of anyone, the ship would be on the deck off the island.

As the Grim Weaver made its way into the docks, its occupants would notice something very hard to miss. One of the ships already moored there went up in flames as if completely spontaneously. The man cave was completely engulfed in the fire in mere moments, to the point that one would never suspect that the arsonist was still inside. Still, a moment after, a figure sporting bright red hair jumped off into the docks, laughing their ass off at the ship going up in flames, completely unaffected by the heat. “Man, that was a blast! Those people were so weak. And the way they started calling for their captain… hahahaha”

Off near Jack’s shop, as he was calling for customers as he usually does, he noticed a familiar man running towards him. He was one of the hired hands accompanying him on his voyages. “Master Jack… Master Jack… the ship was attacked… it’s all in flames…”

Jack made sure his companion was fine only by a glance before bolting towards the ship. He could see it from a distance, even as a few buildings got in the way. A thick column of smoke visibly rose into the sky. By the time Jack got there, many of the dock workers were already throwing as much water on it as humanly possible, but only for a moment. As soon as the side near the docks was clear of flames for a little while, the manager ordered them to draw the anchor and push the ship into the sea.

“Wait… what the hell are you doing? That’s my ship you’re sending off.” Jack yelled, but no one heeded his words. He drew his sword and jumped off to attack the men he was glad to see throwing water on it only a moment ago, but the manager caught him off guard and tackled him into the ground. “I’ll not have it burn the docks down, Jack. The flames on ship always come back no matter how much water we use. You can go after it if you want, but if you’re going to attack anyone, attack me.”

Jack watched as his only means of leaving Gesso sailed off. “Get off me, you stinking old man.” he got up anyway, throwing the dock manager off him by force. He stood there, thinking for a moment. He could tell the ship was clearly not going to make it no matter what he did. He considered going there just to save some of his affairs, but his swords were by his side and his money wasn’t in the ship anyway… he hadn’t left anything worth saving in there.

“Hehehehe… so you’re that captain Jack they were crying for, huh?” said the red haired arsonist.

Jack turned to see where the voice came from. He could see the man very clearly, yet he didn’t move towards him. He wasn’t in a state to comprehend exactly what this man had done or why. Instead, it was the dock manager who tried to attack the arsonist, to no avail. The man in leather clothes took the old man by the nape of his neck and planted his head into the wood of the docks forcefully.

Jack, picking up on the fact that it was without a doubt this man who burned his ship, jumped to attack him in turn, but the stranger dodged to the side quickly. “Too slow…”

Jack could still not fathom what was happening around him. “Why the hell did you do that?” he finally asked.

The stranger shrugged. “Who knows… I just like burning stuff…”

Jack made to attack him again, but the stranger dodged again and spoke before jumping off gracefully into the roof of a nearby building and disappearing. “I’m Jagger, by the way, we’ll meet again I hope.”

Marshall raised his eyebrow in both slight surprise and disbelief; he didn't really keep up with the whole bounty thing, but his original bounty was, if he recalled correctly, not too terribly high. Less than 10 million at the very most. To suddenly jump up to near 30 million was, quite honestly, highly unrealistic; times were different now, but there was a time that the Pirate King Monkey D. Luffy's 30 million beli was considered to be outlandishly high for someone in the Blues. So he cast a bit of skepticism not so much on Nyx, but rather the paper reporting it to begin with.

But when he was read the paper he was tossed and flipped over to their updated bounty posters, Marshall was forced to believe that this wasn't just some typo in the article; he really did have a bounty of 27 mil. Turning back to the article in question, he began to read about what they had to say about him. First up was that he assisted in mass murder, which really didn't sit well with him, and then he "enigmatically" escaped from the Marines, whatever that meant (Marshall might be able to read just fine, but his vocabulary was very lacking). And then there was.... well, a bunch of weird stuff. Something about him being a masked vigilante with some sort of utility belt? There was some passing reference to some obscure comic book character popular with a small amount of young adults, but the whole thing seemed rather weird. I mean, this depiction of him was absolutely nothing like him.

But that nickname they gave him..... Fuck it, this was worth it. Even if the rest was bullshit, Marshall had a sweet nickname to show for it. "Dark Knight:" that was a name he could live with, and definitely better than this "Batman" comic-guy. Hell, he could even spin this to his advantage; if people thought he was someone completely different, then he might go unnoticed by authorities, or any enemies preparing to battle the crew would be caught off guard by his different fighting tactics. The more and more Marshall thought about it, the more of a good thing this was.

Anyways, once bounty discussion was over, Alexis proceeded to give them a game plan for what they needed to do on the island before lecturing the young man on his excessive training. Marshall let out an audible, "Tch," in slight annoyance before replying, "I've been through worse." And it was true; he wasn't even sure he was going to get a scar on his stomach from the wound, though his training probably was raising the chance that one would form. "As you said, we can be attacked whenever; have to be ready."

While it seemed no one else in the crew was quite as excited about this news as she was, Nyx was still feeling fairly optimistic. Having a bounty was a sign of one's worth being known to the world all in one simple to read format. Plus they had also gotten a shot of her swords in her bounty photo, each one marked with her signature. Perhaps if she continued to increase her fame people would be more interested in purchasing her creations. For her it was nothing but pluses at the moments, but she could see why to the two of them it would be more of a bother. She frowned a bit at Alexis's mention of her bounty being the lowest one out of their group. "Maybe my choice of words wasn't exactly the greatest, but you get what I mean! Besides, you guys already had bounties before, of course yours were higher. Just give it some time. Even the marines will be able to recognize greatness when it's right in front of them." She pouted while preparing to dock.

As the Grim Weaver pulled up to the island however the crew would be treated to more or less a front row seat to watching Jack's ship burn down. Fortunately they weren't so close as to worry about it reaching their own vessel. Considering how quickly the thing went up Nyx felt pretty certain that this was not an accident and that assumption was only assured by the sight of the man on the docks who attacked the dock manager. The woman simply whistled while leaning over the edge of the ship and watching the flames lick at the sky. "What a sight, huh? It's almost like we're being welcomed to the Grand Line." Continuing to look at things unfold she would notice the man shortly interact with Jack before running off and out of sight. Well, that was short lived. She had been hoping to see a little bit more action than that. "We should probably due our best to make sure our ship doesn't end up like that. It would be pretty anticlimactic if we ended up stranded on our first stop."

With them safely station on the island Nyx moved to get off their ship and on to solid ground for the first time since Loguetown. While was she wasn't one to get seasick or anything, it was definitely relieving to be able to stand on a stationary surface once again. "So what do you guys think of being in the Grand Line now?"" She looked to either side of her, a single sword on each side.

"Seems like a strange and wild place. Please stay on your guard master." came the voice of End.

"If that arsonist is any indication of what to expect then there are many here for my fangs to devour. We should hunt him down." this was the voice of Seigi from her other side.

The blade dancer let out a sigh. Why did she expect anything better from these two. "One of you is a stick in the mud and the other has a one track mind. Even Slugger makes better conversation than the two of you." There was no way she going to waste time chasing down some pirate because he burned a random ship on the dock. There were plenty of more important things to take care of. "So Alexis, you mentioned something about a Log Pose? What's that supposed to be?" She stepped off the ship and began to take a look good look at the town they were in now. The sword smith had to blink a few times though believing her vision may have been affected by staring at those bright red flames for so long. "Who turned off all the colors?"

_____

There was a woman sitting on the rooftop not far from the port who had been sitting and watching the burning of Jack's ship. The woman in question had short dark hair with bangs covering one of her eyes and wore what seemed like business clothing albeit in a casual manner with her tie hanging loosely around her neck and white shirt beneath her being unbuttoned a bit. Lastly she seemed to carry around a pair of sword with her, one being at her side and the other across her back. Standing up now she threw her cigarette on the floor and stomped it out. "What an idiot." she muttered before leaping down and soon catching up to the arsonist who had fled the scene.

"Do you always have to cause such needlessly large scenes? At least tell me the captain knows that you're out here running wild on your own." She continued to speak to the man as they moved away from the docks.

Alexis was not bothered by her bounty but 30 million was high for a newcomer, the same as another pirate group that left a huge bounty before coming into the grand line if she was a fan that could be something to talk about. She would be listening to Marshall saying he had to be ready but training too much would mean your tired and unable to fight at full power. "If you wish to train all the time it's fine, but you need to rest as well, this crew doesn't have a doctor yet." She would mean that if someone got close to death we didn't have anyone who knew how to heal them.
She smiles at Nyx's idea of getting a higher bounty. "Bounty is not everything, someone without one could be stronger and all of us." She would say thinking of her father in that moment, but Nyx was already pouting walking to the docks.

Alexis could see something but why was there ship burning? Was it some type of ritual, pirates that have been sailing for a long time sometimes burn there ship down as a way of saying goodbye to it. She could see a fight happening near the docks and would comment to Nyx's reply. "Maybe, but giving it's the grand line it will be the only one of the few welcomes we have." She would watch as the ship was in smoke. "We should be okay, we will leave someone with the ship when we go on the island." We have mooks, but they didn't speak much.

Alexis when onto the island, but grabbed her scythe first wishing to take it with her just in case, but turning it clear so nobody could see her walking away with it, someone holding a sword got attention, but think about a giant blade like her scythe. "So far it's safe, but the grand line has only just started." She started to look around as people were talking about the pirate crew that just reached this island, and all the colors they had on them. "The pose allows ships in the grand line to guide them to the next island, but even I wouldn't know which one it will be, it's only many routes you can take and so far we have already been guided by it, the log pose will help us get to the next one without getting lost." She would say thinking that is what it was for.

I already said Jack was at a loss for words right? Well… he stayed that way for a good while. As he stared at the flaming ship, there was one notion which cheered him up. He could just as easily steal another ship as he did this one. He looked around the docks, and could not figure out which one to go for. He wondered if he should even bother packing all the junk in his store or just commandeer the first boat he likes and be done with it. He didn’t think it would be practical to steal from someone who lived here as that had no hope of happening discretely enough for the townsfolk not to chase him with all kinds of weapons, so it would have to be a stranger.

As it happened, just as he was thinking that, a rather decent looking ship carrying a pirate flag moored near him. He had his swords and money on him, and he could probably send someone to fetch his less valuable baggage. It only took his means of transport getting completely wrecked for him to decide to finally leave this abysmal place. Ironic isn’t it?

Walking towards the newcomer boat, he could see two women stepping off it. This is going to be a piece of cake. he thought with confidence. He walked straight past them and jumped on the deck of the Grim Weaver rather suddenly. For a man who had been able to take the very first ship he came across in the grand line rather easily, and who had noticed that these pirates were probably pretty new to the sea themselves, it was entirely justifiable in his mind that he could pull this off. He didn’t have the faintest clue how silly he was being.

Placing himself strategically near the figure head where people on the boat – like Marshall – and others near it – like Alexis and Nyx – could see and hear him, he shouted with confidence: “I’m your new captain now. You can call me Captain Jack. Anyone who has an objection to that should step forward.”

As they approached the mainland, Marshall and the others couldn't help but take note of a nearby docked ship that was currently up in flames. Marshall didn't stare for too long, pulling away his gaze rather quickly. Fire.... well it's not like he was afraid of it or anything, but it brought back bad memories. So he didn't exactly like thinking about the fate of those who might have been on that ship, nor did he want to consider the same potentially happening to them, whether today or some day down the road.

So instead, Marshall kept his focus facing towards the island itself as they docked, and island that was quite...... interesting. He had to rub his eyes to make sure he wasn't just seeing things, but it's as if he had just entered into a world of black and white. Actually, scratch that; it was just white. White land, white buildings, white clothes; it's as if the national color of the island was white and using anything else was considered treason. Even a similar off-color white (like cream) wasn't anywhere to be found, nor any other basic, dull colors like one of the 49 shades of gray.

Marshall eventually shook his head and snapped himself out of it; this was the Grand Line. There were bound to be sights even stranger than this. And so Marshall simply shrugged his shoulders and began to step forward to chase after Alexis and Nyx... or at least he would have if they didn't suddenly have a visitor. This random strangers sudden proclamation would have been worth a laugh, if Marshall thought he was actually serious. In fact, the bat-wielder actually looked around to see if there were people watching them, thinking this might be some sort of prank performance for the public.

There didn't seem to be anyone watching, however, which meant that this guy was actually serious. "Hey Alexis!" Marshall said as he drew his bat. "Do you feel you need to 'defend your honor' or something, or should I just beat this guy up?" Maybe it reinforced the idea that Marshall was nothing more than a meat-shield of sorts, but it's not like that was exactly false...

So they needed this pose thing in order to find the next island? Interesting, the Grand Line was a strange place though she supposed it only made sense that there would be some sort of strange method of traveling along it. Perhaps it was a blessing that the sword smith hadn't come out here to the Pirate's Graveyard on her own. "So all we have to do is wait for it to point us to the next island and we're out of here then right?" The woman deducted without need for much more explanation. After all it had already led them here to begin with and would apparently point to the next island on a certain route.

It was no matter however, she was ready to enjoy her time on this island regardless of how...abnormal it appeared on first glance. It beat sitting around on a rocking ship in the middle of the water by a long shot. It appeared that in the time Nyx spent gawking at the pure white town before them however someone had seized the moment to move past them and on to the deck of their ship. At first she didn't really comprehend what had just happened as it seemed too strange to be true. Still she found herself glancing back over her shoulder to see Jack running up aboard the Grim Weaver and announcing his presence to everyone in the area. At first she was thinking it might be some weirdo who wanted to join them or who was going to talk down on them for being criminals of the sea. Once he began to spout off his joke about being the new captain of their crew however she began to wonder if it would have been better if it was the former option.

It seemed that both herself and Marshall shared the same reaction to his sudden proclamation, strong skepticism. The blade dancer narrowed her eyes on the idiot standing on their ship not entirely amused but at the same finding this to be amusing. Pulling out one of her many swords and flipping it in the air a couple of times before pointing it at Jack. "Hey captain, is it cool if I kick this guy's ass? I promise I won't kill him. I'll even make sure not to get any blood on the ship." She directed her question at Alexis at the same as Marshall, both of them sharing a similar response. Perhaps they were a bit more alike than one would assume but the two of them would very likely never admit it.

As Nyx stared down the intruder she noticed the sword he carried at his side and smirked a bit. Perhaps she could even manage to nab that weapon off of him if it was worth anything. She doubted an idiot like him would be carrying a 'named blade' after all.
